That's the way the stomach rumbles
That's the way the bee bumbles
That's the way the needle pricks
That's the way the glue sticks
That's the way the potato mashes
That's the way the pan flashes
That's the way the market crashes
That's the way the whip lashes
That's the way the teeth knashes
That's the way the gravy stains
That's the way the moon wanes

So here we have Valmont once again being a decent human being because it matters to him. He either really likes the company of Cécile or knows that it would really destroy her if it got known that she is no longer a virgin but well done.
Also, I think it's interesting that he knows how to handle the situation. He is obviously been in it before, either as a first hand participant like here or in the social circle of someone who had a similar problem. I'm going to put my money on "it is usually the man's job to find the necessary help with the maximum discretion" as they have it easier to come and go, leave the house with little to no explanation and with no company, etc. And as we saw in the affair with the woman who had Valmont, her lover and her husband under the same roof at the same time, if the men agree in code that there is no breach of reputation, the reputation is intact.

The Cécile
I like, as you may know, naming my cocktail creations after women. This one, The Cécile, is named after the woman currently laying on my sofa, “just for a minute”, who has drunk two and a half of these since the arvo! She protests a little that I took out my laptop to write the recipe. “I might forget otherwise,” I say! It is very like her, I think: a little sweet, a little spicy, a little sparkling. And it has that delicate but intense rose fragrance, like when she enters a room. Cheers!
Ingredients (serves 1):
8 ice cubes
1/2 tablespoon Rose Syrup
1/4 teaspoon Rose Bitters
15 millilitres/1/2 fluid ounce (1 tablespoon) Rosie Gin Liqueur
30 millilitres/1 fluid ounce (2 tablespoons) London Dry Gin
chilled sparkling water
Spoon ice cubes into a shaker. Add Rose Syrup, Rose Bitters, Rosie Gin Liqueur and Gin. Shake energetically until well-chilled.
Strain into a cocktail glass or coupe, and top with chilled sparkling water.
Serve Cécile immediately.
