HAPPY BIRTHDAY to multi-media artist and singer-songwriter Ben Kaplan. We both once hailed from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and we intersected on stage and in the studio. He called me in to play on his DEEPER DOWN album. I thought, “Cool. Some real singer-songwriter-ing going on.” His edgy music plays between John Prine-ish Americana and alternative rock. Today he lives in St. Louis and I in San Francisco, but the music we did on his DEEPER DOWN album puts us on a timeless map. and like I think if you think being jewish isn't important to the guy who is literally a golem and whose character was based after his jewish creator, the jewish holocaust survivor who's experience in the holocaust radicalized him and shaped the rest of his life, the son of an orthodox rabbi who's upbringing as an orthodox jew shapes the person he grows up to be, the guy who is a reform jew and who had a jewish wedding and the girl who literally wore a star of david in her first appearance who constantly talks about how proud she is of being jewish, you should do some self reflection and realize you're just antisemitic

FRIDAY FLASHBACK—“Navajo” by Ben Kaplan… https://johnnyjblairsingeratlarge.bandcamp.com/track/navajo Yá’át’ééh. The Wayback Machine lands on 1999 to a recording session in Pennsylvania, but the song feels more like the 4 Corners of the Southwest—that mystical region with ominous mesas, vast skies, and the murmur of long-gone civilizations. “Navajo” was the opening song from Ben’s fine album, DEEPER DOWN. On this track I played keyboards along with Bill Engel (banjo, guitar), Tamara Kaplan (vocals), Bill Matlack, Jr. (drums), and Easy Mark Tomeo (pedal steel guitar). It was engineered and produced by Tim Breon, who also played bass and guitar. Ben morphed into a multi-media artist and now lives in St. Louis. Enjoy this track and remember our Native American brothers and sisters:

The Infinfty Warps comics have led to a beautiful little plae in my mind of like... making a universe where the Marvel characters are all combined and not just a select few scattered around different universes

Joan Storm (Cobo of the Storm siblings) whi went up to space with her two older brothers, though they both died (as far as she knows)

Victor Storm (combo of Reed and Doom, survived the space trip as well by killing their other brother to gain his life force)
