Raison d'être [Part 2]
Sekkun -> Sosui (in case it's confusing, because I completely forgot his name the first time whoops)
~Duck River office~
Sosui: I have led Wakakusa-san all the way to the front entrance. Shu-san on the other hand had jumped up and ran off somewhere though-
Ujigawa Gen: I don`t care, good work.
Ujigawa Gen: Goodness, talking to a child is exhausting. You, pour me a cup of warm tea
Sosui: Understood. But sir, was it really the best choice to just tell them?
Ujigawa Gen: The thing about Duck River’s successor being Wakakusa-kun? Or is it the thing about how he and Shu are half brothers?
Sosui: Both. When the announcement of a successor is revealed, the fact that Wakakusa-san is your son will be obvious. Of course, plans to deal with the media are ready , however, the timing to reveal it to both of them was surprising, is what I thought.
Ujigawa Gen: Because Shu looked like he was about to make another out of pocket move. Before he becomes a thorn to Wakakusa-kun and FuRai, it was best to cut him off earlier.
Sosui: I see
Ujigawa Gen: As the face of Duck River, Fujin Rizing needs to be a successful band after all. For that, there being some minor sacrifices is a given
Sosui: Indeed, just as you said.
Ujigawa Gen: There is no use in keeping unusable pieces, time and money is finite you see. You simply just need to cut off ones you don’t need.
Sosui: …you’ve never changed, even from back then
Ujigawa Gen: Did you say something?

Fuuta: Hey Ko-nii, has Aoi not come back yet? You think it's better if we go to pick him up?

Aoi: I’m back..
Fuuta: Ah, Aoi! Welcome back!
Yamato: Welcome back. ..hm? You seem to be lacking spirit. Are you hungry as well?
Fuuta: What's wrong? I’ll grab Sakutaro here, wanna sing together? Then you’ll be back in spirits!
Aoi: No.. I’m fine, thanks though..
Kohei: Its pretty cold right? I’ll pour something warm for you so wait a bit

Misaki: Yo.. Ko-nii.. What did the pres say to Aoi? Its pretty obvious that something happened, its written on his face
Kohei: Yeah, but I’m not sure its something we can force out of him. Even I don’t know, so maybe we should wait until Aoi talks
Misaki: But like.. Ain’t it something that affects us as well? Sooner or later we’ll find out anyways..
Kohei: Yeah, but if its bad news, seeing us all hurt by it, he’ll view it as the person who broke the news; his, fault

Kohei: Here you go, Aoi, cocoa. Its hot so drink with caution

Fuuta: Hey Aoi, what did the presi-
Kohei: Fuuta.
Fuuta: Oh. What’s up Ko-nii?
Kohei: Ah no, why don’t we leave that conversation for later?

Misaki: Yo Aoi. Something happened right?
Kohei: Oi Misaki..
Misaki: Sorry Ko-nii, I can’t handle it. If he doesn’t wanna say it so be it, but I don’t like it when Aoi is the only one suffering
Fuuta: Me too. Seeing Aoi lack energy is harsh, you think so too right Yamato?
Yamato: Yeah. You guys have gotten through everything together right? So I think that its better to talk to everyone and face the problem together.
Fuuta: Yup, and since Yamato is with us too
Kohei: Thats true.. Okay. Aoi, did something happen? Just say the things your comfortable with explaining, we’ll hear everything out.
Aoi: You guys.. Got it.. I’ll talk. The truth is-
(Aoi explains the situation)
Misaki: WHOA WHOA WAIT. This is a little too big to follow!
Yamato: To sum it up, your real father is Duck River’s president. Did you guys not know?
Kohei: We only knew about the parents in Nagasaki being Aoi’s adopted family of course
Fuuta: Is that so..?
Misaki: Aoi told us this when we were small right
Aoi: To me, my real parents are my mom and dad in Nagasaki
Kohei: But this time, that president is not only announcing your blood relation, he wants to name you his successor above all that.. This is a pretty unbelievable situation
Misaki: Aoi becoming head of that big-ass company, thats big
Yamato: Thats right, but whats important here is us. Aoi, when you found out he was your real father, were you shocked? Or are you more troubled with the successor crisis?
Aoi: No..I didn’t really care about myself at that time. To me, what will happen with FuRai and you guys was what weighed on my mind the most.
Kohei: Aoi…
Aoi: FuRai being signed with Duck River and debuting was all because I was his successor, is what he said. I think the president wants to use FuRai and do whatever he wants.. At this rate, we’ll forever be that company’s lap dog!
Aoi: But if I said that I didn’t want to become the successor, I’m sure our support will be cut off..
Misaki: But like! The most important thing here is your feelings. If you don’t want it then we don’t want it either. And if the opportunity disappears then so be it!
Aoi: But! You all saw how that company works! The reason FuRai is in this situation, is my fault… and plus, mom and dad.. Might become saddened by this.. I don’t want that!
Fuuta: Aoi.. don’t cry, I’ll start crying too…
Aoi: You guys… I’m sorry!
Kohei: No. You didn’t do anything wrong.
Fuuta: But, why does Aoi have to suffer through this? It would’ve been fine if we continued making music together as always, that we’d always be happy…

Shu: Before I realized it, I fell asleep huh. I don’t… even know what time it is now. I don’t have the energy to wake up, I don’t even have the energy to take a breath in and out, its painful.
Shu: Why.. do I have to wake up.. It would be so much better if I just… slept like this forever…
Shu: … then I wouldn’t.. have to think about anything anymore

Ujigawa Gen: Duck River’s successor has been decided to be Wakakusa Aoi-kun. I have no intention of supporting from now on. By now, you are no longer someone with any form of relation to Duck River. Whether you want to continue with you band, or go back to Kyoto, do as you wish. You are no longer of any use to me. I don’t want to see your face ever again.

Shu: …why… did papa not look at me…? why… did papa throw me away…?
Shu: Why… was it that since I was small, papa and mama were never by my side..? At school events, important days, even the day I caught a fever.. Why was I always alone..
Shu: …thats why I…made a song for papa… If its a song I put my heart into…surely it would reach him… if what I thought… but that, was all a lie…
Shu: I’m sure… the people who listen to my music are the same… 3 years in the future, 5 years in the future, even after this… there won’t be people who will always be there to look… at my music, at me.
Shu: If they get bored, it’ll all just be thrown away… aha… just like a toy they don’t need anymore.
Shu: The most ridiculous thing here is…me
Shu: In the end, I was just a worthless kid that they could’ve found anywhere…if that's the case then why… am I here…

Young Shu: Mr.Felix! How do you read that french word..?

Young Shu: Raison de..? What does it mean?
Felix: Hmm.. Raison d'être.. In Japanese I suppose it could mean; A reason for living, possibly?
Young Shu: What does a reason for living.. mean?
Felix: Thats a quite philosophical term hence putting it simply is a bit difficult. Hmm.. lets see.. Its something that means that above realizing your reason for life, one must come to terms with the despair present within..
Young Shu: Thats too hard..!
Felix: Ahaha~ You’re right, even for grown ups, its a hard to define word after all..

Shu: One after another, useless memories keep popping up… my head… is filled with words..! If I don’t spit them out… my head feels like it might explode..!
Shu: Keh.. My notes… where did I put them…
*Sound of writing*
Shu: Aha~ My hands are shaking… so much… that I can’t write properly… its suffocating… but, I need to write it out… everytime I write, I feel like I can breathe… just a little more…
Shu: I wonder… what happened to the notes I had burnt… what was written on them… was it words written in pain like the ones now…
Shu: …or were they filled with lovely memories… I wanted to keep…
Shu: …I hope my words… will reach someone, someday…

Reiji: Shu, I brought food. Even if you eat only small portions, its better to have something- may I enter?

*Shu’s phone rings from inside the room*
Reiji: He left his phone..? And wallet…?
Tadaomi: How’s Shu-kun’s condition? …oh? He’s not here… where did he go?
Reiji: Tadaomi, sorry but I’m going out for a bit!
Tadaomi: Reiji-kun-!
~Outside~
Reiji: I went to all the places I suspected he’d be but nothing.. Shit. Where is he? Since he left both his phone and wallet, there’s no way he’d be back in Kyoto. When I called the secretary, he said that he hasn’t come around either. If thats the case…where? There shouldn’t be a place that Shu can rely on, since he doesn’t have a single reliable friend after all..
Reiji: Am I… in a good mood? If I look at everything I’ve been through, I feel slightly better. ..but, the one I swore revenge on isn’t Shu; its his father. Him and my father… in the past he had made a wreck of my father’s Skyfox Records after all. If Shu falls here, that’ll be a big problem..!
Reiji: And, he’s only a child. The only ones that protect him, protect his music, is only me. Then, there’s only one place to go.
~Duck River office~
*Knock on door*
Ujigawa Gen: Who is it?!
*Door opens*
Reiji: Karasuma Reiji.
Ujigawa Gen: Ah you. What is my secretary doing.. I don’t have any appointments with you.
Reiji: I have hasteful issue at hand. Shu has disappeared.
Ujigawa Gen: Disappeared? Hah. Isn’t that just his normal act, sooner or later he’ll come back anyways
Reiji: But he hasn’t brought both his phone nor wallet and simply left home..! If we use the people from the company we should be able to find him immediately, could you please assist in the search?
Ujigawa Gen: You’ve always been painfully swung around by Shu all the time right? How about you use this chance and grow a pair of wings or something?
Reiji: Wha-
Ujigawa Gen: Its simply his common lash out for attention, there’s no use in worrying. My god, what a bothersome kid..
Reiji: Isn’t it because you’re like this, that Shu grew up to become that sort of kid
Ujigawa Gen: Oh, you say funny things.
Reiji: With no doubt he is selfish and self-centered. As time passes, he grows further from being an adult and instead pivots into caring less and less. And you say you really don’t know the reason why..?
Reiji: Shu wanted to be loved by you! He wanted to be loved, praised, acknowledged by the father he loved so much! All his actions were done so you would simply look at him!
Reiji: And yet despite all that, you haven’t done a single thing as a father, at the very least find him, and say something to him..!

Ujigawa Gen: You seem to be very heated. IS that truly the attitude when asking something from others?

Sosui: Oh my, Shu-san. Since when have you been here? To eavesdrop here is a bit..
Shu: Ah!
Sosui: To have such a servant that thinks so much for the master, are you sure you shouldn’t go in there to help him? To say, I’m here, to him.
Shu: *Runs away*
Sosui: Fufu~ This reckless behavior given by youth warms my heart, however, it seems that they need a bit of an adult’s helping hand after all…

Fuuta: hah… it feels like today’s practice wore us out

Kohei: We should give him some alone time

Kohei: If it gets too late, we should go pick him up together
Fuuta: Yeah..

Aoi: Woah..! It suddenly started raining..! Maybe, I should be better getting back home.. Huh? That person sitting on the bench…?
Aoi: Uhm… Ujigawa-kun…?
Shu: You… what do you want?
Aoi: Erm.. its started raining, if you stay here you’ll catch a cold
Shu: You’re a sore, go somewhere else

Aoi: Wait! Ujigawa-kun..!

Aoi: Where are you going this late at night empty handed?! Do the other epsi members know? Since its started raining, I’m sure they’re worried too…!
Shu: WHAT’S WITH YOU?!! You appear all of a sudden and suddenly start acting all brotherly?!
Shu: ITS YOUR FAULT..!
Shu: ITS ALL YOUR FAULT THAT I-!
Shu: WHY IS IT YOU AND NOT ME..! When I had it all… from the beginning… if only you…weren’t here..! Just disappear now! DISAPPEAR FROM MY SIGHT-!
Aoi: No. If I disappear now, then you’ll be all alone again..!
Shu: YOU DON’T HAVE TO GIVE A DAMN ABOUT SOMEONE LIKE ME…!
Aoi: OF COURSE I CAN’T!

Aoi: I DON'T FREAKING KNOW?! BUT MAYBE ITS BECAUSE YOU’RE HERE, CRYING..?!

Aoi: There was a time that I thought you were scary but, you’re really an amazing kid. To have that much talent, and to be able to make music enough to move adults..! Surely your music… can reach even the furthest of people..!
Aoi: But from now on, regardless of whatever path you take, when you’re feeling alone and lonely, I’ll be here by your side until you’ll be able to say you’re okay.

Aoi: …because Ujigawa-kun… Shu-kun, you’re crying as well

Aoi: …I didn’t cry!
Misaki: You sure? If you’ve putin’ on a show we won’t believe it

Fuuta: It definitely feels more safe when we’re all together

Fuuta: Even just now you were complaining nonstop about the company too!
Aoi: Ahaha… is that so?

Tadaomi: Its nice to see everyone in FuRai in good spirits though. Since I heard your plans for debuting fell through, we were worried that you’d be all down in the dumps or something…
Kanata: Not even debuting, you guys snuck into Duck River and got fired right~? Aha~ Wow, lame~!
Yamato: No, rather than being fired, there was a difference in opinion so our contract got annulled. So we said “That's our line” to them.
Haruka: Ahaha…that's funny
Aoi: Well, that just means we’re back at the startline! We’ll just have to start from one again, together.

Reiji: Shu, since everyone is here, we should start soon

Shu: First, the label that I made; SkyFox Records is going to start full scale soon.
Kohei: The label you made..? But you’re only still in middle school right? How in the world is a child going to represent a company?

Sosui: Hey everyone, its been a while… or not
Fuuta: Huh? You’re Duck River’s secretary… why are you here?
Sosui: Aha~ thats |previous| secretary to you
Aoi: Previous..? So that means?
Sosui: I have already cut ties with that company. Well then, let me do a re-introduction; my name is Sosui Sanetomo. From now on, I will be acting as SkyFox Records’ representative.
Kanata: Eh~ Even if you say previous, its still someone from that company in an important position like this~
Misaki: Well it ain’t a problem with us, as long as we ain’t dragged into messy problems like before yeah?

Sosui: Eh~? To you all I’m already an old man..? Oh well, putting that aside, SkyFox intends to place the people here; Fujin Rizing and Epsilon Phi, under an artist contract.

Haruka: An artist contract is the same one you guys were under with Duck River. It means that both you and us are debuting under SkyFox. Am I right?
Shu: Thats right~
Kanata: Hm~ I’m still a little iffy about being on the same level as them but since we’re able to debut I guess its fine?
Tadaomi: Yup, its really good news..!
Kohei: This is something we didn’t ever ask for…so why?
Sosui: I’m sure that during LRFes, you all already faced up against other bands, but that was only on an amateur level. From now on, It’ll be a head-on fight as pros.
Fuuta: Head-on…as pros
Sosui: Yup, from now on, only bigger challenges will open. In this world of rivalry between bands, the bands SkyFox bets on winning are Epsilon Phi and Fujin Rizing.
Yamato: I see, and we don’t want to go back to being a company’s lap dog
Fuuta: And I only want to be with everyone. From now and forever, with the FuRai that I love and making the Skaa music that I love
Sosui: Of course, both you and Epsilon Phi are to continue making the music you each want. SkyFox is a label for that reason after all
Misaki: Ko-nii.. How we feelin’
Kohei: I have a few question but for now, I got it. You guys, we’ll talk about it later
Aoi: Yeah, lets discuss it together
Kohei: Thank you very much. Let us have a more thorough discussion afterward
Sosui: Oh course, anytime
Shu: Well, of course you could fail as well. We’ll think about that if it happens. Lets see how far we can go
Sosui: I have no intention to fail though~ Well for everyone here from now on, what you want to do in the future, why you chose the path of music, is something I want you all to ponder over seriously. I have high expectations
Shu: Okay thanks~ So for everyone here, you’ll start being more busy~ There won’t be any breaks until the world knows SkyFox is the best~
Misaki: Seriously?! Is this seriously gonna become a “black company”?!
Fuuta: Eh?! A dark company means-!
Aoi: I’ll explain it all later!

Reiji: You’re going to cut your hair yourself? I think you can book an appointment at a hairdresser somewhere
Shu: Nope~ I want it now. Plus, the person who’s cutting it isn’t me, its you.
Reiji: Me?
Shu: Yeah. I’ll sit here all quiet. I’ll warn you in advance though, if you give me a weird haircut, I’ll turn you into a monk (haircut)
Reiji: I understand
*Hair cutting noises*
Shu: There. You can cut it shorter
Reiji: Okay

Shu: (Why does Reiji, listen to my words… why is he still by my side? Reiji had always been by my side solely to swear revenge on my papa…)
Reiji: This time, look down… hm? Shu? Are you lost in thought?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahuevidhrnwiwgwjxieh he so pretty 😍
I think they've made Koharu more masculine in his "civilian" style so I'm looking forward to seeing him and the rest of Fantome in their vampire form in the new artstyle (sounds like I'm talking about superheroes lol)
I've also noticed that there are a few characters with updated hairstyles. There’s the obvious with Shu but there's also Aoi with slightly shorter hair and I think Miyuki and Kenta both got updates too (might be wrong)
Shu actually looks like a 13 year old boy now (possibly 14 by the next game, who knows)
The Nijo twins look really good and I can definitely see more of a resemblance between them.
Overall I love this new style. It looks so much cleaner and had much more time and effort to put it together.
Which has just reminded me that AAside only shut down at the beginning of this year and now we are in late Autumn and getting super close to being back on track!

For Shigaraki Birthday Week, Day 1: Rebirth
Title: running blind
Notes: Playing somewhat loose with the prompt. Also, fulfilling an ask or two I got last week: Spinaraki angst, and reincarnation. Sorta! I confess, and a warning, this fic will be rather strange, but I hope you’ll read it through! Thank you.

It’s an impossible promise.
But Shuu will keep it.

The lights, the smells, the noises - they’re all too much. But Shuu keeps running, no matter what. No matter that he’s as good as blind in this alien city, having no direction and no destination; no matter the increasing bullet grazes on his back, (even with his scales they hurt so bad); no matter that what they’re looking for might not even exist.
Ten isn’t… He needs… Shuu hugs the small body he’s carrying in his arms closer, tighter, feeling for shallow breaths on his neck.
“Someone! Help!” Shuu’s voice is hoarse; he feels his throat failing, losing its grip on the air fueling his screams. “Please, help!”
Metas stick together. Ten said so. The metas, the mutants in this city, they must hear him, they must, they have to.
He hears the car before he sees it, and he’s able to spin around and crash into it with his back, shielding Ten. Even that didn’t wake him up, but it didn’t seem to hurt him either. Shuu still can feel him breathing, however slight, can still feel his beating heart.
Avoiding one death, but now facing another. The hunters advance, big and looming, and Shuu wraps his tail around him and Ten, squeezing his eyes shut, knowing it won’t save them; knowing that at least they were going to die together.
What happens next, he isn’t really sure. He hears screams and he tastes blood in the air, tastes fear and pain—
—but not from him. Not from Ten and him.
Instead, they’re unharmed; instead, a gentle hand touches his cheek; instead of death, there is a man.
“My children,” The man murmurs. He blocks the sun, shadows hiding his face, and all Shuu can make out is a smile. “Don’t be frightened. I’m here.”

The whispers at the Center—
his meta power is everything/ he can take meta abilities away/ Can give them to anyone too/ He’s got dozens/ he has hundreds/ he can do anything/ he’s gonna be leader of the metas/ he’ll change things/ make a new world
—called him The Oracle.
The Oracle says to call him ‘Sensei’.

“They wanted to move me to... to somewhere. Somewhere called Hong Kong.” Shuu stammers, words tangling and tumbling. His mouth is dry, his tongue is swollen, his chest is tight, but he can’t stop talking. For some reason he feels he must tell Sensei everything, empty himself out and hand it all over. “Ten too, they were gonna give him away, but to Canada.”
“And that’s when you two began to plan.” Sensei looks at him like Ten does, like he sees Shuu there, really there, wants him there. Even after they get what they want, they still stay, just for him. “Shuu-kun, I want to hear more, how you two escaped.”
“He stabbed himself,” Shuu says, then winces. It jumped out, and now so did all the images he has been trying to forget. “Remember Ten’s meta power? I told you, he can push his hurt—“
“He has the ability to transfer damage. Yes, I remember. Healing and harming, both.”
Shuu nods. “I stole a pen and gave it to him and he hid it. When it was Friday nighttime, after a bunch of the Doctors left, Ten stabbed himself and pushed his wound out on his door and it broke. Stab... stabbed again and broke the floor, then walls. All the kids got out, like we planned. We planned with the other kids, they each were supposed to do something, and it worked.”
“Aoi broke the sprinklers, so water was everywhere, and Mi— she’s an older kid, she‘s... VA Risk 5, and they would—to her—” He stops, before his mouth moves again, raw truth crawling out.
Sensei only sighs. “And your Center is supposed to be one of the more forward-thinking, humane laboratories. Well. Please, continue.”
“Mi used the water to drown the adults. Slammed them, and crushed them, mini tsunamis. The water was orange... Then all red.” Shuu rubs his jaw. “...My mouth and teeth too.
“I bit a lot of people.” Even now he tastes that thick, sour red. “I’m... Severely Aberrant, but I was mostly good, I’m VA Risk 2, so they were nice with me. And I killed them.”
“Do not be ashamed,” Sensei said softly. “You did the right thing. You and your friends.”
“Ten’s my best friend!” Shuu blurts out, really loud. “We... I never had one. Everyone at the Center is a Friend, but. For Ten, I’ll do anything. Before I met him, I was… lost.“
13 years, all his life. Nothing but the Center, and it took up his center, his core, his heart. Swallowed it up. Tossed it away, unneeded. Gone.
Then Ten arrived. And he found it.

You’ve never been outside? Ever?
I’ve been here since I was a baby. I was born like this, so…
That’s awful. When I break out, I’m taking you with me.

I’m gonna go back to my aunts and we’ll hide better this time, with you too.

Shut up, Shuu. I’ve decided. You’re coming.

The man is just like the stories say: he will grant miracles. Except...
“Are you sure that’s what you want, Shuu-kun?” Sensei asks, when Shuu wanted him to take away his aberration. “It’s a part of you, uniquely yours.”
He lets his gaze linger on Shuu, as if able to see Shuu’s meta-mutation as a thing, inside of him. DNA somehow shaped like a reptile, Shuu imagines, and The Oracle would be able to pick it up, put it away.
Then Sensei looks at Ten, who had woken up, on and off, but is now sleeping again, in the medical room for the third day, still on IVs and a ventilator.
“You successfully got here from Okinawa, you valiantly fought your way through your enemies trying to stop you, recapture you,” Sensei says. “Most importantly, you protected Ten-kun. All thanks to your impervious scales, your sharp claws, your powerful tail.”
Each mention of his distortions makes the part twinge, mini ghosts flying out, remaking the feelings of the times they were used.
“What does your heart tell you?” Sensei’s dark-bright eyes are on him again. “Think about it. Who and what you want to be...and the power you need to do so.”

Your tail is cool. It’s like another arm.
Stop trying to grab at it!
I’ll stop if you stop waving it around… ...See?
Only cuz you’re trying to touch it! And you’re not allowed.
But it’s fun.

Ten doesn’t like The Oracle.
“You’re the one who said to find him,” Shuu points out. They’re eating dinner on the 30th floor of a skyscraper; it’s part of Sensei's territory, like a tower of a castle. Sitting in a corner by the window, the view is a galaxy of lights. Nighttime in Kyoto.
Ten elbows him. “It was a maybe. And I’ve decided now: never mind him. Our plan is still to go back to Tokyo, and find my aunts.”
“He can help us find them, you know…”
Another elbow into his ribs. “We don’t need him. He’s weird. Creepy-weird.”
“Really? ...I think he’s okay. Nice.”
“That’s how they get you, Shuu! They act nice and smart and all fancy, but they’re not. I know it. The way he looks at you and me, he’s like the scientists.”
“You just don’t like that he said your meta ability is bad for you.”
“There’s nothing wrong with my power!” Ten exclaims. “What does he know? He said himself that he’s never seen one like it. So he doesn’t know nothing.”
Ten snaps the chopstick in his hand in half, though the two pieces are still connected, dangling. Before Shuu can stop him, Ten absorbs the damage.
Strands of wood weave themselves back together, settling back in place. Then Ten grabs an empty can of soda. As the chopstick becomes whole again, the can falls apart instead.
“Nothing wrong with it!”
But Ten says this through gritted teeth.
“Stupid!” Shuu smacks both things out of Ten’s hands. “Don’t use it anymore. See? It’s hurting you. It’s making you sick.”
He wraps his arms around Ten, who’s pretending that he isn’t trembling, isn’t breathing hard.
“It’s only because I’m still recovering.” Ten grips his arm, painfully tight. “I’ll be fine.”
“You always say that.”
Shuu remembers. The wound closed up, and the wall beneath Ten’s hand cracked and crumbled; but not enough. I’m fine, a gasp Shuu could barely hear, shaking arm raised, pen plunging back into flesh—
A fatal paradox, Sensei called it. Because as quick as Ten can pull and push injuries away, he still had to take it into himself first. Hurt himself. And then.
“Sensei said your inside is healing itself by damaging itself to heal itself.” Shu whispers. It has been days, but the horror still remains. “It’s eating you alive. Stop using it. Promise you’ll stop.”
“I’m not letting something like that stop me,” Ten mumbles. “I will not.”
“Ten, please.”
Ten refuses to reply.
Shuu tries to hug the pain out of both of them.

Why did you do that? Help me?
You were hurt.
No, I mean, why?
Why not?
Because you’re not supposed to use your power! And, not for someone like me! I’m—
Shuu, right?
What?
You’re Shuu. I’m Ten. Now we know each other. Now you’re not just “someone”.

Kiro is fast, but Shuu is faster. With his tail, he blocks the fist coming for Ten, before tackling the man altogether.
He’s getting good at that - using his tail. Fighting.
Shouting Shuu’s name, Ten joins in, backing him up, pouncing onto Kiro’s legs.
“You little shits!” Kiro hisses, trying to push them off. “This is how you repay Sensei? After he saved your sorry asses? I oughta—”
“Calm down, Kiro,” Sensei says, and everything stops. “There is nothing to be repaid. They’re free to leave, if they want.”
As everyone untangles themselves, he watches without a hint of anger or annoyance at the scuffle. Always calm, always patient. “Though I will be sad to see you two go, Shuu-kun, Ten-kun. I had hoped you would consider this place home.”
“I have a home.” Ten says as he pulls Shuu up to his feet. “I’ve got family. They’re waiting for me.”
“And for your friend?”
“Him too!” Ten snaps. “They’re waiting for us.”
“Oi, watch your tone—”
“Thanks for helping us, Sensei.” Shuu says, hoping to prevent another fight. “We’re grateful, really.”
Sensei smiles. “You boys will always be welcome, should the need arise. Food, medical care, sanctuary… As you’ve experienced this past week, everything is here. Remember that.”
“Yeah, thanks.” Ten tugs at Shuu’s hand. “Come on, let’s go.”
“A total waste, Sensei,” Kiro grumbles loudly, very much intending for Shuu and Ten to hear as they leave the room.
“Kiro, that’s enough.” This time, Sensei’s voice is harder, final. “Actually, do go make sure they have everything they need for their journey. It’ll be a long one.”
That digs at Shuu, because even after all that, Sensei still wants to help. He’s not a bad guy at all, Shuu wants to tell Ten.
And this is why later, in the evening, after waiting for Ten to fall asleep, Shuu goes to Kiro, and asks to help. Something to do, any way he could give something back.
“Cleaning things, moving things—” Not that Shuu has ever done much of any of it, “A mission. Dunno. I wanna help.”
Kiro sizes him up.

The difference is that I like you even if you’re dumb—I’m kidding! Sorry.
I don’t like this already.
I said I’m sorry! I mean it. You can call me dumb too. Cuz being best friends means we stick together, no matter what. We keep our promises, we have each other’s back. You’ll do anything for me...

All he has to do is crawl through the vents. All he has to do is to stick something to the wall. All he has to do is be quiet. Such a simple, easy thing.
Shuu messes up anyways.

...and I’ll do anything for you.

Caught and shocked and choked - a big ass lizard, like hunting a crocodile, laughter, laughter, the sound of which Shuu knows he’ll never forget for as long as he lives.
In the time between the kick to his head and waking up to Sensei at his bedside, he was rescued and brought back; and somewhere in those few hours—
Ten was his best friend.
—He didn’t hesitate, Sensei tells him. He did not spare even a second to transfer, for all his focus was on healing you—
Then he wasn’t anymore.

The tears won’t stop and the world is dissolved in water, but seeing isn’t necessary to beg.
Shuu begs, because this man is the Oracle, the closest thing to a living god this world has. He is hope itself right now; to Shuu, his only hope. He has to be, he must, please, there must be something, anything, Sensei can do can save Ten—
“Shuu.” Sensei’s hand is heavy on his shoulder; as is his name, spoken, without the usual ‘-kun’. Heavy too, is the weight of all the unspoken things that comes with it - disapproval, though not unkind; the finality; the truth Shuu refuses to accept, not yet.
“It’s my fault,” Shuu says, more to himself than to Sensei. “It’s my fault, mine.”
But Sensei responds: “You’re to be blamed as much as Ten-kun is to be blamed for caring about you. Would you say this is his fault?”
“No! No, never—”
“Then the fault lies elsewhere. The ones who harmed you, who forced Ten-kun to use his power to save you, the creators of this tragedy. Don’t you agree?”
He knows. The hunters, the ones who chase and laugh and kick, who will never consider them human, just freaks to be wiped out - even people like Ten, normal except for just one special thing. The scientists, the non-metas. All of them, everyone, the world. And—
“Still me.” This is still the truth, the one he accepted already. “I was… If I had been better, tougher...”
“You can still be so. It’s not yet the end for you.” Sensei squeezes his shoulder. “Strength can be taught. Fortitude, resilience. Even revenge, if you wish for it.”
Shuu slowly looks up, and Sensei smiles down at him. “Whatever you may seek, I will give.
“All you need to do is stay with me.”

With a touch to the head, the gesture like the affectionate ruffling of hair, or a praising pat for an obedient child, Sensei takes away Ten’s meta ability.
Such a small, quiet thing, no blinding light or shockwaves. The only piece left of Ten in the world is within Sensei, and Shuu thinks that if he can help the Oracle in any way, protect him, then isn’t he protecting Ten, somehow? His power to heal, to fight, to change things.
“I’ll leave you to your goodbye,” Sensei says, and when he is gone, Shuu climbs onto the bed, next to Ten. He wraps himself around his friend, one last time, holding him close, feeling his faint, fading heartbeats.
When Ten is gone, Shuu is lost too, once again.
But I’ll find you. In the next world; in Heaven or in Hell; in a future life; or even just in pure blackness, somehow. Ten found him; this time it’ll be Shuu’s turn.
“I’ll do better, I’ll protect you,” Shuu whispers. “Ten, I’ll find you. I promise.”

Too many trees here, blocking Spinner’s vision, he’s running as good as blind.
“Shit. Shit!” Spinner tries to follow the roars and rumbles, but Gigantomachia is too big and too fast. One moment there, next moment not. How the hell did he even manage to get lost from a fight that is literally visible from space?
Not again. Spinner thinks, as he dashes through the forest, slashing at branches, leaping over rocks. I can’t fail him again! Where are you?
(Somewhere deep but faint in his mind, Spinner wonders about ‘again’. Doesn’t make sense, but it feels correct. For doubting their leader, for dismissing him, one or the other, both. More.)
There— in front, meters away, to the right, a boulder splitting, crumbling; ground, cracking. Spinner skids to a stop, before racing off again, fast as he could, blade ready—
Black and death white, so clear among the chaos. Found ya.
Spinner shouts.
“Shigaraki!”

Shuu is PastLife!Spinner; his quirk is still being a lizard, except stronger + tail. PastLife!Ten is Shigaraki/Tenko. They remember nothing, except maybe some vague inexplicable... somethings.
The Oracle/Sensei is All For One, the one and only, same as always, a bastard.
Setting is the chaotic 100+ years ago, when quirks first started appearing.

Hajime: For entertainment on our day off this has gone beyond just a joke.

Tsubasa: I’ve also heard a rumor that it’s very difficult to get a reservation ♪
Iku: As expected of you 2, you know a lot about those kinds of things.
Hajime: ……Did the president arrange this?
Shun: Right! When I asked for something to reward everyone for always working hard, the president gladly said it was OK. As expected of your highness*.
[*the kanji he uses here is the same as the president’s first name “Mikoto“, so I assume he’s using it as a pun to refer to him.]
Shun: ……The members that became children, and the members who challenged the gigantic maze, since you all were active throughout the day, you’re tired aren’t you?
Shun: That’s why, you should fill your stomachs and enjoy the rest of your day off ♪
Kakeru: Yay! Food! Food!
Arata: Ooh-! It smells so good!
Kensuke: It looks delicious-!
Shun: Oh, by the way I also made reservations in the hotel connected to Tsukino Land.
Shu: If I remember correctly, it’s a famous hotel that has a hot spring pool and sauna, along with an oil massage that completely relaxes the soul.
Eichi: Wow-! That sounds so soothing!
Kouki: That kind of opportunity, rarely happens.
Morihito: That’s true!
Shiki: Seems like it would get rid of stiff shoulders and eye strain.
Tsubasa: Even though Shiki was just a child he sounds like an old man now • • • !

about band connections
have you ever thought about how band have connection to other band?
Argonavis and Gyroaxia are connected through Yuuto, Kenta, Nayuta, and Reon being in the same high school
FanIris and epsiPhi are connected through Shu and Felix (correct me if I'm wrong but i've heard Felix used to taught Shu)
and then there's FuuRai
yes they're a group of childhood friends, very close one. it's weird that they don't have any sort of past connections to other band
so here's the thing, remember that theory about Shu and and Aoi being siblings?
Aoi's parents that we know now are his foster parents...
and Aoi and Shu kinda look alike (at least to me when i first got to this fandom)
if one they drop the news that Shu's father had a kid with woman he loved but couldn't marry her due to economic/family background differences (keep in mind that Shu's father owns one of the biggest record label). so he married Shu's mother but hate it so he kinda abandoned Shu and now we got this demonic Shu in the end
i'd be sad if Aoi found out his little brother is.... Shu
no hate to Shu but Aoi is so precious i don't want anything to happen to him 😭
just imagine Shu and Aoi living under the same roof,, sure there's Reiji to fix Shu's mess but he can only fix, not prevent
tbh i wanna see Aoi get angry instead of crying
you can't tell me Shu won't do things to make Aoi insane
i'll personally throw Shu into outer space if he ever do anything to my precious baby Aoi. my boi needs love and pats and hugs and love.
