Happy Halloween

Jenna Ortega x Autistic!Male!Reader

Summary: You and Jenna attend your sister Emma Myers' halloween party to try and boost your social confidence.

Jenna POV

October has finally rolled around, tis halloween season; my favourite season. Y/N and I are going to a Halloween party that his twin, Emma Myers, is hosting.

Not only is this Y/Ns first Halloween party, but it's his first party in general. I told him that he didn't have to go if he didn't want to, but he insisted. He's been trying to improve his social abilities for the last year and he believes that going to this party might help him gain that much needed boost I'm confidence. I'm so proud of him for trying.

We've decided that we're gonna be dressed as superheroes this year; his choice. Normally I'd go for something much more "macabre", but it's his first Halloween with me so I let him choose the theme of our costumes.

Originally we were going to go as Wednesday and Xavier, though we decided against it as, one: it was unoriginal and two: it hadn't been announced that Y/N was replacing Percy as Xavier for Wednesday Season two, so we wanted to keep it on the down low.

I'm going as a female version of Spider-Man, we'll I guess it would be "Spider-Women" in my case. It's a generic choice I know, but who doesn't like anything Spider-Man related, especially after that masterpiece of a movie "Across The Spider-verse." My costume is a rwd and blue Spidey suit; classic style.

Y/N however, he chose an outfit that I dunno if it constitutes as a "superhero" costume. Mainly because that this character is downright evil. He is going as one of the best TV villains ever: Homelander.

Jack Quaid, who worked on The Boys and scream 5 with me, managed to get in contact with the producers and procured one of the costumes they used for Antony Starr. It pays being a celebrity sometimes. The suit was a perfect fit for Y/N, he absolutely loves The Boys, so you imagine how happy he was when Jack managed to source this suit for us.

Dying his hair to match Homelander's was a bit nerve wracking for him as he'd never dyed his hair before, but I eventually convinced him after a while and he definitely looks the part.

The party is going hold around 50 people, all at the Myers' house. Atleast the party is at a familer location making it easier for Y/N. Though, I admit I'm still a little nervous that he'll become to overstimulated from all the music, lights and people. I take pride in making sure that everything is adjusted for Y/N comfort and accessibility, but this is completely out of my hands and I hate that.

He assures me that he'll be fine, that he can manage on his own and that he'll be fine if anything goes wrong. Still, I can't help but worry about him, he is my everything after all. I do get a bit motherly over Y/N sometimes.

- 3 hours later - Myers Residence.

We just pulled up the Myers House. Many different coloured lights gleamed put the windows, loud music invaded our ear drums even from inside the car. "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all" Y/N said nervously; the kind of of nervous you'd hear from someone when they know something bads going to happen.

"Do you wanna go back home, bubs?" He looked at me, then back at the house, contemplating his choices. "Honey, I won't be mad if you wanna go back home, we both knew that this would be difficult for you. There's no shame in wanting to go home, baby." I said with a smile to let him know my words are genuine.

"I wanna go in" He finally said.

"Are you sure?" I said, needing firm confirmation that he wanted this. He nodded and I smiled. "I'll be right beside you, if at any point you get uncomfortable, you tell me right away." He nodded again and we made our way to the front door, the sound of loud music increasing with each step we take.

Pumpkins lit with candles were displayed on the door step, clearly Emma has a talent for carving pumpkins I see. Y/N walks behind, I can practically feel his eyes staring at my ass. I turn around and he immediately turns his head, making me smile widely.

"Were you staring at my ass, Y/N L/N?" He didn't answer me and kept his eyes to the ground, confirming my suspicions. I kiss him on the lips "It's okay, I don't mind" He smiles and reaches for the doorbell.

Y/N rang the doorbell with an unsteady hand, his foot nervously bouncing up and down against the pavement as we wait for someone to answer the door. The door eventually swings open revealing Emma. She's dressed as Enid in her black cat outfit.

"Oh my god, Y/N, you're here!" She says pulling him into a tight death grip of a hug. He laughs while returning the hug with an equal amount of pressure.

"Good to see you too, sis. I should've known you would've went as Enid for Halloween" he says playfully, she nudges his arm in response at his cheeky little comment.

She turns to me and gives me a bug hug. It's been a while since I've seen her, so it was nice to catch up after all this time. "Your costumes look amazing guys, that Homelander suit looks so authentic!" Little did Emma know, it was very authentic.

She leads inside to the living room, the sound of music was turned down a bit now that Y/N was here much to some peoples dismay, but no one objected, at least not verbally anyway.

"How's your Halloween going so far sis?" Y/N asked his sister.

"Oh it's going great dude, we have a lot of candy for all the trick or treaters that knock kn our door." She takes a seat on the couch in the living and so do we, my hand interlocks with Y/N to keep him close.

"I'm surprised you came here, Y/N/N. I know you don't like the party scene all that much. I'm proud ofnyou for coming though, bro." She says pridefully, bunping her fist against his shoulder affectionately. He smiles at her, besides me and his parents, Emma is his number one supporter.

Suddenly a girl appears out of nowhere, intruding on our conversation. "Oh my god! Jenna Ortega!" At first I thought it was only an innocent fan wanting a picture so I spoke to her at first.

"Hi there, very nice to meet you" I say politely.

She looks over to Y/N with a smirk and a lick on the lips. "Well hi there handsome, nice costume" she says with a sultry tone. "Wanna ditch this party, I know a place where we can hang out, if you know what I mean" she says with a wink, she actually winked.

Y/N looked back at me looking extremely uncomfortable, his eyes just screamed "help me, Jenna." His grip on my hand tightened, indicating his stress and anxiety.

Before Y/N could so anything I set her straight. She went to touch him but grabbed her wrist tightly, earning a squeal from the bitch "He doesnt want to go anywhere with you, he's with me. I think you should go"

she leaves with a pout etched onto her bitchy face. "I'm not no expert on social interaction, but I'm 100% sure that she was flirting with me" he says, still shocked from what happened.

Emma spoke up "You okay, Y/N?"

He nods, still clearly uncomfortable with what just went down. I hug him tightly, keeping my arms securely around him. "I'm sorry she did that, bubs. I promise I won't let that happen again." He nodded at my words, my hands working my way under his cape to rub his back. Something tells me that bitch will make another move.

-2 hours later

The party is a lot more lively than we first got here, around 55 people for sure. I haven't had any alcohol since I didn't wanna get drunk, I've gotta drive home. I've been talking with Emma's friends, getting to know them a little.

Y/N sat next to me, though he struggled to talk with them and kept silent more often then not. He tapped my shoulder "I'm gonna go get a drink, I'll be back in a minute." I nodded, though admittedly I kinda wanted to go with him, but he's his own person and can handle himself. Like I said, I can't help but worry about him.

I keep my eye on him from afar, just in case anything were to happen. "So what's been going on with you and Y/N then, Jenna. Has my brother been behaving himself?" She jokes

I laugh and respond to her "He's great; both of us are. He's been trying to improve on his social skills lately, he thought coming here would help with that" I say, eyes quickly glancing to Y/N every once and awhile. I turned back to Emma and continued "Though, I think he's been struggling tonight, lots of people new people, not to mention all the lights and music."

Emma sighs, knowing her brother's struggles with socialising. "It'll take time to build his confidence. It seems like everytime he makes progress there's always something bad that happens, like what happened with Percy." Emma says that part with disgust.

I look over to Y/N who's still choosing what drink he wants, he's very indecisive, like me. "You're staring, Jenna" Emma catches me staring at him. I point my gaze back to her.

"Sorry I'm just worried about him, y'know." She nods at my words.

"Yeah I get it. I worry about him all the time." She admits with a sigh.

Suddenly I hear Y/N start to plead for someone to leave him alone. "Hey please leave me alone! I have a girlfriend!" He shouts, the girl from earlier had come back to harass.

"She doesn't deserve you, baby. Let me show you a good time" he shakes his head erratically, he looks like he's about to go into shock. I make my way over to save him from this psycho bitch.

She suddenly starts kissing him, causing him to whimper from disgust. He grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her off immediately out of pure desperation. "LOOK LADY I DONT WANNA GO OUT WITH YOU! PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE!" All eyes were on them, his hands shook violently.

He looked at me, desperately wanting escape this situation. I dragged the girl up off the floor by her hair and slammed against the fridge. "You ever sexually harass my Y/N again, you're fucking dead" she nods and runs out the front door. Emma hugs Y/N, who's still a bit shaky after all that.

"You okay, baby boy?" I ask worriedly, cupping his cheek at the time. He nodded while releasing his grip on Emma and began wrapping me in a hug. There were no tears, he was still in shock from the whole thing his eyes were erratically darting across the room, noticing all the people that watched waht had happened.

He needs a quiet space "Emma is there a place where Y/N can calm down?"

"His old room is upstairs, that's his quiet place" I immediately take him upstairs, pushing past all the people who were in the way.

I opened the door to his room and sat him on the bed, still holding tightly in my arms. His frame was shaky but his breathing was less erratic now that he had less people watching him. Only a few sniffles were let out. "It's okay, baby boy. She's gone now."

"I didn't mean to, Jenna! She just kissed me without consent! I didn't kiss back I swear!" He pleads with me.

"Shh shh I'm not mad. I know it's not you're fault, she should never have done that. I'm so so sorry baby." I keep his head tucked into my shoulder.

I really don't think he should be at a party right now. He was just sexually harassed and is extremely stressed, far too stressed to socialise with anyone right now.

"Baby let's go home. You're way too stressed right now. We'll have our own little party, just me and you. We'll watch a couple scary movies together, make some popcorn and eat lots of candy. Whaddya say, sweetheart?" He nods and takes my hand.

We head back downstairs to tell Emma we're leaving. She's in the kitchen talking with her parents on the phone, absolutely fuming at what had just happened. I go up to her "Hey Emma we're gonna go. Y/N is really stressed out right now."

"That's okay, Jenna. Y/N I'm sorry this happened. If you ever need to talk to me, just call. Okay?" He nods at her comforting words and pulls her into a gentle embrace. "I love you both. Drive safe." We nod and head out the house.

- 45 minutes later

Me and Y/N are sitting on the couch, out costumes off and into our pyjamas. We've got popcorn, candy, chips and other snacks at the ready for our horror movie marathon, starting with "Candyman" then after that "Halloween".

Y/N moves his head to my chest. My hand made its way through his hair. "Thanks for getting me out of there, Jenna. Any longer and I think I may of had a nervous breakdown." He chuckles.

"It's alright baby. You're safe now and we're gonna have lots of fun. Just you and me." He smiles, eyes staring at my lips. I lean forward and kiss him tenderly and gently, my hand cupping his cheek as I did.

It was definitely worth leaving that party. The time I get to spend with him is better than any party.

heyy!! so, i was thinking of watching the boys but i need to know, what's your fav part about it??? i have a major crush on jensen ackles and simon pegg but i'm afraid like, do they have enough scenes for me to justify watching it??

how's the plot??? i trust your expertise so very much.

I am a SUPErfan of The Boys. (You'll get that joke later). So I'll just start by saying, everyone should be watching this show.

It is incredibly gorey, bloody, full of cussing, adult scenes, nudity, giant cocks (not the rooster kind), gross scenarios, exploding whales, and action. They do things on this show that even in my most crazed dreams I could not fathom getting away with writing. And it all works. (Let's not ignore the awesome cgi and practical effects)

It is also an awesome story with a lot of side plots that weave together into a special and amazing show that is worth watching whether you're into comedy, action, drama, horror, or just plain good tv shows. I particularly enjoy the politics and corporate side of things. There's also a lot of social commentary that I enjoy.

Also, sometimes, there's dancing.

Hold up, though!

Let's not for a moment forget that every actor on the show is incredibly talented. And, I'm sorry, I am uncomfortably obsessed with JAckles, but he's not even my favorite part.

Antony Starr, who plays the main supe, Homelander, is possibly one of the greatest actors I've ever seen. The microexpressions this man's face can convey are truly amazing and he's got this psychotic eroticism that I cannot look away from. He's incredible.

Did you think I forgot about Karl Urban? Gasp! I did not! He's also perfection as Butcher and I am both excited for and terrified for his season four problems. Also Jack Quaid my beloved! Chace Crawford?? AHHH. Erin Moriarty!? (Literally used her as the lead in my last novel)

Everyone is amazing

Oh, and Jensen is awesomesauce as always, but we knew that already, and I'm not going to get into it too hard.

But to answer your question...

Simon Pegg is not in many scenes, but when he is, they're great.

IT IS 100000% WORTH WATCHING. Trust Me.

Opening Notes

If you have any questions about systems, this post, my system specifically, or if you just want to know every single thought I have ever had about Homelander and Mirrorlander in general, shoot me an ask!

Notes on Systems

A body that has more than one person in it is a system. You see this a lot in fiction. Sometimes it's fantastical, like Atem and Yugi (YGO). Sometimes it has a more realistic basis, like Kevin and his system (Split, Glass).

Systems can be split into two categories: Endogenic, meaning that the system did not form as a result of trauma. My system, the one I'm a part of, is endogenic. The members developed as the result of roleplaying and a whole bunch of autism. Systems that formed as a result of trauma are called traumagenic. Systems where the origins are sort of hazy, or are a bit of both, are called mixed origin. Some systems like this prefer the term quoigenic.

Please note that in neither of those instances did I use the word "DID."

I do not lose time as part of my system. All of us can talk to each other and share knowledge quite easily. There is no dissociation. DID requires all of these things.

Assuming that Homelander (HL) and Mirrorlander (ML) are, in fact, a system, they do not have DID. I do believe they're traumagenic--Antony Starr himself said that HL created ML as a kid to be a sort of mother/father/friend to him.

I believe that Homelander and Mirrorlander are part of the same mixed-origin system, and that they do NOT have DID.

Notes on Homelander's System

We see Homelander and Mirrorlander communicating quite well, actually. It's a whole big Thing, even. We don't know what extent the mirror plays in their communication--if they need the mirror to communicate or if it just helps them communicate or if this is just how Kripke chose to show it--but they communicate clearly and easily.

I think it's also safe to assume there's no dissociative barrier between the two. When ML is talking, HL seems to be aware of time passing. There's also no mention of any "gaps" in his memory or "missing time."

We do see him dissociate, but that isn't necessarily tied to the system. Given his childhood in general, I think it's normal.

Now, why do I think he's mixed-origin instead of endogenic or traumagenic? Because HL created ML (something generally associated with endogenic systems) to deal with the trauma of being raised as a lab rat. That blurs the line a bit. Hence, mixed-origin.

Final Notes

This post is based on personal research, a small bit of headcanon, personal experience--both as a system and in system spaces--and a general love of the show. To me, one of the most compelling things about Mirrorlander is that he doesn't fall into the "evil alter/headmate" trope, something which dates back literal centuries (Jekyll and Hyde being the earliest one most people know). This is a man who was created to protect HL, and genuinely believes that he's doing his best. To me, this is a refreshing change.

S3 was a fucking shitshow, but HL/ML was amazing. I really hope we see more in the upcoming season.

I add lower lashes and changed his eyebrows, hair color, and face detail a little bit. Old one comparison:

I like old hair but felt new one was better suited for suit.

I made him look a little younger since he a vampire but I think I want to make multiversions because he needed a lot of mods to get like this and I want to make him more easily accessible minus the CC. Figured out where Batman suit came from too (superhero/villain career mod).

If I can, I will make a basegame (or at least Late Night) compatible version. I will probably also make some guy named Antony Starr eventually for my obsession with old man.

Want to make Willem Dafoe and Steve Buscemi too~✨

I also make William. Not done, but he a vampire hunter. Kinda.

Private Halloween (Homelander x Maeve)

Warnings: Rated E. Top the Homelander, for the most part, although definitely some sublander, whippedlander elements and some genderfuck in case the prompt wasn't a giveaway. Precanon, set in 2014. AO3 link. Directly inspired by my favorite non-HL picture of Antony Starr:

Homelander laughs. “You’re crazy if you think I’m going out in that. What do you think the tabloids would say?”

“That you’re a fun guy with a sense of humor, maybe?” Maeve exhales smoke from her vape. Their relationship has really soured over the years, and she’s pretty sure she’s just acting purely from a place of spite nowadays, testing to see how far she can go before he decides to call it quits. Apparently he’ll tolerate a lot. It’s like he’s really in love with her or at least whatever sickening twisted version of love that his mind is capable of.

“Maeve, be serious,” he says. Oh god is he actually pleading with her? Why can’t he just see that they have nothing in common, that she’s smoking to annoy him, and that she’s specifically chosen a costume he won’t wear so she can tell him how lame and cowardly he is?

“What am I supposed to be serious about? You wearing a cheerleader costume for Halloween?”

Homelander purses his lips. “If I wear this in public they’ll think I’m a pervert.”

“Good. They’ll be right.” She’s really pushing it. She better be careful lest he decide that it’s easier to laser her in half than break up with her. But the grinding of his jaw stops and to her horror instead of walking out in a huff, he puts his hands on the bed and crawls forward, insinuating himself between her legs, nudging them apart and rubbing his cheek along one of her inner thighs. She tries to draw back but he just follows her body.

“If you really want me to, I’ll wear it. Just for you.”

Jesus, he’s in this kind of mood today? The ‘I’ll do anything for you’ knight in shining armor mode? Maeve really doesn’t understand what he sees in her. She’s not only not trying to be a good girlfriend, she’s actively acting repulsive towards him. And yet here he is, looking up at her with puppy dog eyes so she’s actually tempted to pat him on the head even though he’s a 33 year old man whom she’s seen do despicable things while out on missions together. Whom she’d already firmly said no to on the topic of marriage, despite the fear that he might kill her for it.

“What do you mean just for me? In the bedroom?” It’s not a good compromise at all, but Maeve does want to see him wear the outfit.

“Mmhmm,” he mumbles, making a trail of tiny kisses up her inner thigh, getting close to her boyshorts. He’s hated boyshorts ever since he found out that’s what they were called, so she wears them every day to annoy him. But he’s stopped complaining. Whatever she tries to do to annoy him, he just seems to get used to ignoring. He’s infuriatingly adaptable that way.

“Okay, fine, put it on just for me,” she says with resignation.

Homelander goes into the bathroom to change. Of all things to be weird and shy about, he still doesn’t seem to like her watching him removing the top piece of his suit. As if she doesn’t notice the contrast between the foam padded uniform and the smaller, leaner version that emerges out of that stiff structured shell unless she sees the undressing happen in front of her. Maeve wonders if she should be thankful he has never complained about any part of her body, given how many hangups he appears to have about his own.

Homelander walks out of her bathroom, red white and blue uniform on, “USA” in bold bright letters across the chest (Maeve was kind enough to at least keep that theme consistent). He’s still smoothing out the pleated skirt. Maeve has to admit the feminine getup actually makes him look muscular and manly, because even though she got a large size, his biceps are something a woman would find hard to achieve, and his calves have an unmistakably male musculature.

“Where’s the wig?” she asks.

Homelander looks up at her with a deer in the headlights look. “I… you want that too?”

“Why wouldn’t I?” Maeve says coldly but gets up off the bed. “Here let me help you with the makeup too.”

Homelander follows her back into the bathroom, looking a little bit lost, probably wondering why she wants all this from him. If none of the other hints Maeve has dropped about liking women have ever sunk in, she’s sure this one won’t either. She puts the wig on him, tucking his real hair into the scratchy cheap mesh, a blond long bob with bangs and falling just below the chin. It doesn’t look half bad on him, somehow, despite being a cheap Halloween item. Maeve makes him sit down on the toilet lid and picks up her minimalist makeup bag. He doesn’t move a muscle as she does his face. She finds it surprisingly hard to do it for someone else, all her motions feeling strange when not directed by a mirror image. But she enjoys watching Homelander sit there so obediently, ramrod straight, face impassive, only moving his eyes when she instructs him to look up at the ceiling to get his upper lashes done, or to smack his lips to spread out the lipstick.

He glances in the mirror as they walk out of the bathroom but doesn’t seem to have any opinion on her work.

“Now you can eat me out,” Maeve says, spreading herself out on the bed, taking her underwear off and tossing it on the floor. Homelander’s nostrils flare– it’s yet another thing she finds disturbing about him, the fact that he can detect her arousal and visibly inhales it deeply. At least right now they’re in the privacy of her bedroom, but he’s done it when they’ve been out and about, and she was fully clothed. She’s never called him out on it, because she’s not sure he’s aware others can see him doing it, or even that he’s doing it at all.

Homelander doesn’t put any effort into acting in any way female, but when he hooks her legs over his shoulders, buries his face into her folds, and starts sucking and licking her clit like she’d taught him all those years ago, it suddenly doesn’t matter. Looking down at him in the wig and silly cheerleader outfit she can suddenly pretend this is someone else entirely, even a different gender, and it’s an amazing turnon. Maeve leans back and moans in pleasure, and Homelander redoubles his efforts, unaware of her little mental infidelity. Homelander doesn’t seem fazed by the particular words she's using in praise of him and reapplies himself with more fervor, sucking on a large area while still flicking his tongue across her sensitive spots. Maeve’s eyes are hazy with pleasure but she still watches the pleated skirt slide or bounce a little bit whenever Homelander has to shift to rearrange himself. She comes loudly, gripping the sheets, squeezing his head between her thighs with crushing strength. Any mortal wouldn’t survive that kind of pressure but she knows Homelander enjoys getting his head trapped in this orgasmic vise of hers.

Dean's progress he most enjoyed was him becoming the man he NEEDED to be, not the man his father wanted him to be (!!!) (x)

Most significant story/season for Dean? Jensen: You can‘t pinpoint a specific season. The progress J enjoyed the most was Dean becoming the man he needed to be and not the man his father wanted him to be. (x) John‘s shortcomings aside, Dean idolized his father. “It‘s all Dean knew, it was his normal. Same with his kids dealing with him being away.” We all have our normal and that is unique to us. (x) Dean was a soldier from the get-go, but he went from being a soldier to being a General. That’s what Jensen loved. (x)

What was hardest to act? Dean‘s insensitivity. Jensen tends to be a little more sensitive. It wasn’t hard to act, but it was “against grain” to act for him. I.E. dealing with Mary, confronting her. (x)

Jensen is happy that going on all these new sets, Jensen is the tall guy. They all go “ah, I didn’t expect you to be so tall.” (x)

He is enjoying being the tallest one in the new sets (x)

Any personal projects that J always wanted to accomplish for himself? He wants to sit down. But the problem is, he sits down for a minute and then go “nope”. J has moments of reflection but he doesn’t wish he’d do things different, he sits and thinks “man, I love this” #jib12 (x)

Wishes he could clone himself, but he can’t, so he needs to be smart with where he puts his energy, so he is satisfied, provides for his family. If he‘s not enjoying it, he steers away from it. He‘s enjoying cons & work. FaceTimes with family a lot. (x)

Really loved Covid time with his family, but working fulfills him. Much like Dean, he‘s a soldier, a general, so he needs to go work. (x)

He gave a long really beautiful answer about family, what constitutes a family, and said that he gets asked a lot how Danneel and the kids deal with him always being on the road and he said his reply is that it's their normal, it's all they've ever known and he also (x) added that the pandemic didn't do the world or society many favours ( I can't remember what he said) but that he had lots of wonderful family time which he needed emotionally. Then however it was time for Dad to go to work and that's his fuel. He loves what he does (x)

Jensen keeps his head down. Isn’t striving for accolades or awards. The drive, the work fuels him. (x)

Storytime. In New Mexico, got home at 2am, not packed, Daniela told him not to pack anything. He drove to the airport at 9 am, busy highway. A car in the wrong direction comes in his lane. He was able to quickly change lanes. It was an old man freaked out. (x) Jensen called 911. instinctively he wanted to turn around and chase the man down, as if he was Tom Cruise. Then he realized that‘s the movies, so he kept driving. (x)

Jensen shot the movie in Vancouver. Had to get a work visa for TorCon. It took 2 hours & he took photos with half a dozen custom officials. Nobody sped up his process though. #jib12 (x)

So after last night's episode of the boys (which I have Several thoughts about), I feel I simply must say it again: Antony Starr is an incredible actor.

I'll hold off on my character analysis for the moment to just talk about how Antony Starr used his physicality in the most important scenes - starting with where he finds out Noir noped the fuck out.

Not only is he scared - actual, real fear, just like we saw when he first saw the camera footage of Soldier Boy - but he's hurt. And not just in the "ow that bruised my ego" way. He almost starts crying. You can see the tears in his eyes. When he leans in close to The Deep, you can literally see the reflection in the shine of his eyes. Another actor's attempt at this would've felt out of character or melodramatic, but with Antony Starr, the audience clocks it as maybe one of five instances of genuine emotion from a man whose most common "emotions", if you can call it that, are "murder", "sex", and "[preens]".

Which brings me to the next scene. I was already like, oh, shit, this is gonna be his best episode to date (which is saying something, because again, Antony Starr Is So Good). The scene where he's talking to himself in the mirror has so many tiny, beautiful expressions that say so much. My boyfriend fiance pointed out that the mirror scene was a definite homage to Willam DeFoe's Green Goblin (specifically the "Yahtzee!" moment), and I think it's fair to say that they're definitely on the same level (and Willam DeFoe is also So Good). For perhaps the first time, we see Homelander, stripped. He is entirely alone. He has no one to perform for; no one to impress or intimidate. He is only himself, but even still, he is divided.

...I said I wouldn't get into character discussion in this post. So. Antony Starr had two difficult tasks: playing off himself (instead of another human to work with), and playing two drastically different emotions. For the sake of clarity, I'll refer to them as Homelander and Mirror!Homelander.

We see Homelander's "last shred of humanity" more clearly here than anywhere. Antony Starr portrays a victim of abuse faced with his abuser, where their abuser is positioning themself as his savior. Antony Starr is a tall, sturdy man, but he makes himself look so small, so young as Mirror!Homelander confronts him. He is a child, scared of the world outside and the world within (Mirror!Homelander). We see Homelander sans bravado, sans ego, sans everything that makes Homelander the character we've seen over the past 2.5 seasons, and instead of seeming out of character, or seeming expected (in the sense of oh no the poor little meow meow had a tough childhood), it opens up a crater of emotion, of depth, of pity for this monster of a person. That would not be possible with another actor, I am positive of this.

Now let's talk about Mirror!Homelander. This is more what we expect from Homelander - big emotions. Anger. Righteous indignation. But it doesn't start that way. It starts soft, the way Homelander tried to approach Ryan - the way he would speak to a scared child. It ramps up, it borrows language from Stormfront, and it comes again to this idea of purity, of being clean. That humanity, even the humanity within Homelander himself - the humanity that has been more or less hidden behind...all of the everything - that humanity is the problem. This is an abuser talking to his victim; telling this scared little boy that he will help and he will protect him from the outside world (and whatever the "bad room" is, which I Will Not talk about right now, I won't!!!), just so long as the little boy does exactly what he says. Mirror!Homelander is the worst of what we've seen of real Homelander, and again, by another actor, it would have felt...overdone, or at least obvious. But Antony Starr's performance makes it clear that whatever pain he inflicts on the world around him (and it is a lot of pain!), he's also inflicting pain on himself, to the point where Homelander has to completely divorce himself from the source of it.

In the last scene with Homelander, after the fight, we only see real!Homelander, standing stock still in front of that mirror. What is Mirror!Homelander saying to him? How is he explaining what just happened to himself? How does he justify the fact that he ran away from a fight between his should-be-dead hero, his nemesis, and a naked twink?

What is Homelander doing to himself, that none of us can see?

Have you ever thought about why Homelander loves milk so much? Because it doesn’t seem like an inherently sexual reason since he drinks it leisurely.

Part of me thinks he was only usually given milk in the lab and so it’s some kind of muted trauma response/comfort that can become sexual under specific circumstances. Maybe it’s just mommy issues or maybe the guy just really likes milk for no reason. Who knows?

boy have i EVER.

i believe the milk infatuation started with Madelyn and her pregnancy. obviously the underlying issues that caused him to fixate on it (and her) began in the lab, but i don't think this particular attachment started until after her death, which is when we actually start seeing him drinking milk. Madelyn's pregnancy is when their relationship became strained, and all of his jealousy over her having a child/dependent that isn't him set in.

Antony Starr described the milk drinking as a "broken man's attempt to connect with the woman he loves."

knowing that, it's interesting to take a look at WHEN we see Homelander drinking milk. it's always in moments when he's seeking comfort or assurance in some way, like drinking Madelyn's breast milk while grieving her death.

also, we see in this moment outside Becca's door how nervous he actually is to be there.

i don't think it's a coincidence that this is somewhere we see him drinking milk the most, both guzzling it from the jug and drinking it with each meal he shares with them. he's soothing himself because he's lowkey terrified of fucking up his relationship with his son. he's masking that constantly. imo, drinking milk is a relatively innocuous way to ground himself in all the ways Madelyn used to.

the only time we see him drinking milk in a sexual context is with Madelyn/Doppelganger, which makes sense, since the infatuation started with her, and he's using both Doppelganger and the milk as a means to cope with her death.

so while i don't think it's exclusively sexual, there is a sexual element at play because of the origin of it. Madelyn was both a sexual and maternal figure in his life. hugely formative to how he processes love and romance. so his romantic relationships with women will likely always have a complicated maternal undertone.

I finished Season One of The Boys. *SPOILERS*

Thoughts!

HoLYSHIT. THAT CLIFFHANGER. I knew about some of it because of spoilers, but jesus christ it was fun to watch. My god.

Hughie's a sweetheart. As much as I wasn't sure how much I'd like him (I tend to find the MCs of shows like this boring), I actually really love him? Even though he does Bad Shit there's this adorably dorky core I can't help but find super endearing. His and Annie's relationship is like a backbone of sugar to keep this show getting too dark.

STARLIGHT'S MY BABYGIRL. Ugh. I love her so much. Her powers are rad, her costume is so cheesy in a cute way and the way she manages to balance being a nice girl at her core with plenty of flaws and badassery is just *chefs kiss*. The show never lets her get too perfect, so when she does win it's so much more satisfying.

I'm back and forth about whether I like Billy or not. Sometimes he's cool and other times I get sick of his cliched "waaah my wife is dead so I'm gonna be an angry cunt to everyone" schtick. I guess he does a good job of showing that humans contribute to the cycle of corporations, Supes and civilians, but I couldn't bring myself to care much about his angst about Becca. Idk if it's her actress but her doe-eyed face and "ooh I'm so vulnerable" thing got really sickening. Not saying she deserved anything she got but I didn't like Becca. She's just a plot device in this season. I mean, so was Robin but she came off more like an actual person and not just a victim.

I love Frenchie and Kimiko!! Their ship is just so adorable by itself but overall I just love them both, Frenchie's so cool and then such a soft boy for her and Kimiko learning how to be a human again with his kindness towards her is just so SWEET. That scene where she brushes her hair and paints her nails and comes out of the bathroom, I was like, "I know Frenchie's going to compliment her!" and when his eyes lit up at the sight of her I about died.

I don't have any particular opinion on MM, except his nickname is dumb. He's just kinda there.

Okay, okay, OKAY. Let me add a disclaimer: I don't condone anything the character does, I KNOW he's evil and he gets a lot worse, and that is BAD and so forth. Okay?

BUT.

HOLY FUCK I CANNOT GET OVER ANTONY STARR AS HOMELANDER. JESUS CHRISTMAS. HE'S SO TALENTED. I don't think I've been this blown away by a TV show villain since Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders, and me being the gigantic Tommy simp that I am, that's a big compliment. Homelander's just so fucking INTERESTING. Yes, he's a total psycho, unstable and narcissistic and petty af, but god does the man know how to work a room. The charisma! The way he smiles and shows too much fang! When his hair gets all messy when he gets mad! His crazy-af mood swings! The way he fucking purrs his lines when he's feeling especially powerful or sadistic? How he's basically canonically a Yandere?? The EYELASHES! The way the other characters shit themselves when they hear Homelander is coming! GOD, it's so, so fucking entertaining. (And YES, I find him hot, OKAY?! I know he looks like a waxwork figure sometimes and I know he's a violent manchild, but I'm such a villainfucker and you give me a good-looking, intensely charismatic but eerily unsettling villain with a fucked-up backstory to rival Mewtwo and powers that mean he treats being shot at like a mild drizzle? What was I meant to do? I am but a mere mortal!)

I'm very smug I figured out how The Boys were going to kill Translucent before they did it. The ol' Man on Fire treatment. As soon as he bragged that his skin was impenetrable, I knew it was already over.

I don't really have any strong opinions on the rest of the Seven? A-Train is meh, Queen Maeve and Black Noir barely do much all season and The Deep is just a fucking creeper and he doesn't even manage to be cool or scary like Homelander, he's just like a fishy date-rapist you could find in any old nightclub. I know Black Noir get some cool moments and I admittedly like his costume and how he's kind of an evil counterpart to Kimiko, but I just don't have much else to say. And I thought Maeve was kind of whiny.

Homelander killing Madelyn Stilwell was so fucking satisfying. I already knew he was gonna beforehand and how he'd do it, but I was still smiling when it happened. Maybe that's fucked up but she'd been annoying me all season and tbh she deserved it - she helped make Homelander the way he is and was grooming him to boot, so fuck her.

I can't wait for Season Two now!

Jensen Saturday Afternoon JIB12 Solo Panel

At the beginning of the panel there was a problem with his mic so it was changed and to test the new mic he made a reference to Lionel Richie's Hello, and said he got to hear him sing that song in person a few months ago. Cool.

He also complains about his hair, says he’s not a fan of how it currently is and that he misses the Dean hair. Briefly mentions his Soldier Boy beard and that maintaining it took more product than the rest of his body which was a new frontier for him. But he just doesn't know what his current hair is, it's up, it's down it's floppy. Jensen baby you need a nap.

Starting the questions: If he could have a Diabolical ep about Soldier Boy what would it be about?

Real quick for those that don't know Diabolical is an anthology animated spinoff of The Boys with each story set within that universe.

If he had his wish about the story of Soldier Boy, it would be a story back in time when Soldier Boy was in like his Homelander prime which would be around the 50's or 40's. That's something he would like to see (so would I Jensen, so would I) and thinks would be really interesting.

Before he was asked the question the fan congratulated him on his Saturn award nomination, and Jensen said that Antony Starr, who plays Homelander, texted him congratulating him on his nomination like 20mins after Jensen found out about it and Jensen's reply was 'thanks, man! that's great'. Antony is also nominated so Jensen felt like a dick because he didn't congratulate him till the next day 😆

Is he considering directing an episode on The Boys or Big Sky? Or maybe another episode of Walker?

Answers that while he loves to direct, and it’s a treat when he gets to do it there’s a lot of work in front of the camera that he’s doing right now which doesn’t allow him to have the time.

Directing take a lot of time, it’s not just the six, eight, ten, fifteen days it takes to shoot an episode of xyz show. Becasue for example The Boys one ep is roughly 15 to 20 days of filming (wow 🤯). SPN was 8 days. He shot his Walker ep in 6 ½ days. Big Sky is 9 to 10 days. So it varies from project to project.

He would love to direct a Big Sky ep but he doesn’t think that’s gonna happen that’s not in the cards right now he’s also hoping to direct an episode in the new year of The Winchesters. That one is probably on the list of directing things to do first that is if they get picked up for a full season. He says networks don’t like to order whole seasons until the show has proven itself so if that happens then he'd be looking to direct in the latter half of the season and he's looking forward to it if it comes to pass. x

For him what is the most significant part overall of Dean’s entire character arc? He’s not sure there's a specific season or story that can be pinpointed when it comes to this but the progress he enjoyed the most was Dean becoming the man he needed to be and not the one his father wanted him to be.

Obviously, he was heavily influenced by his father but, John’s shortcomings aside, Dean idolized and looked up to his dad even though it may not have been the best parent-kid relationship on the planet it’s what he knew.

Here he goes on a bit of a sidetrack and says he himself deals with that in his real life that people will ask him how his kids deal with him being away so much or how his wife deals with him working away so much, and it’s because it’s what they know. It’s their normal it’s all they’ve ever known and to say that’s wrong or that it’s not right or it doesn’t fit inside what society says a family should be he thinks is obtuse. Ooookay then.

Getting back on track he thinks everyone has their normal that is unique to them, and Dean’s normal was having his dad leave him in a motel room with his younger brother saying ‘listen I’m gonna go kill some sons of bitches I need you to look after your litte brother’ and he'd (Dean) say 'yes sir' and was a soldier from the get-go and he grew up to be a soldier but then, and this is the story that Jensen loves about Dean, he went from being a soldier to a general. x

This question was originally meant for him and Jared: after 15yrs of SPN which aspect of Sam and Dean’s personality was hardest to act?

He buffers for an answer, because at this point he is in the buffering zone of being tired, then admits he doesn't know so he's gonna go with his first impulse reaction which is Dean’s insensitivity.

He thinks Dean was very insensitive in a lot of situations and that’s not something he tends to be, he's a little more sensitive. He wouldn’t say it was necessarily hard to act but that it was against the grain to act. He’s sure there were many things like dealing with a father the way he did or dealing with his mother having the conversation with Mary when he really confronted her that’s not something he’s ever had to deal with so it was probably more situational than it was character aspect.

He tries to answer on Jared's behalf and says he would probably have a lot of things to say then jokingly says probably dealing with an older brother shorter than him.

Which makes him mention Jeff, who is Jared's actual older brother, and is taller than Jared which makes according to Jensen makes him a giraffe; and he is a doctor so he walks in and is like 'all right what seems to be the problem today?' and one goes 'not you. you are not the problem you handsome tall son of a bitch' This is both adorable and funny 😂

He also mentions that now going on all these new sets he’s the tall guy. They’re all ‘I didn’t expect you to be so tall’ and he's all 'oh, you haven’t met sasquatch.' x

Does he have any personal projects he wants to do? Projects specifically for him that he wants to accomplish?

He wants to sit down like really sit down but when he does he’s like nope.

He answers that he has had time to internalize and think about what it is he’s doing because he has been spending a lot of time on the move and doing a lot of different projects, and his time is spent spread out quite a bit, and he does have moments of reflection where he doesn't go ‘i wish i didn't have to do this’ or ‘i wish i had more time to do this’ or 'i wish i could comparmentalize a b and c' instead he sits back and goes 'man, I really love this. i really love doing what i do'.

He does wish he could clone himself and be in multiple places but obviously that's not the case so he has to be really smart about where he puts his energy and time, and he has to make sure it fulfills his obligations, and supports his family, and fulfills him. So, no there's nothing on the horizon where he's like 'if I could just get to do a road show or a sailing trip'. He's looking at right here, right now at what's in front of him says that he's more of a roll with the punches, take it day by day kind of person but that he does steer way from what he doesn't enjoy and what he's steering into is things like cons, and work, and that while he facetime's his kids constantly that he's either in their face or with them, and he got to spend a lot of good time with them during covid now he’s like we got that reprieve we got to spend that time with each other but now daddy’s gotta go to work because that’s for him. And much like Dean he is a soldier and a general who needs to be working, he keeps his head down and he works, and that fulfills him it truly does he loves it.

Mentions that there was a covid nurse, who was actually in the crowd of this panel, who told him earlier in that day that like him she kept her head down and kept working no matter how hard it was, and that meant something to him. That she said that because he feels like if anything that’s the hardest thing to do; to not look up and be distracted or look up and be like 'what about me? give me accolades pat me on the back I want an award I want recognition' and sure that’s needed as a human but he’s someone who likes keeping his head down, keep driving, keep moving forward. x

Any funny stories that he has experienced during his travels?

The fan who asked this question was almost not able to attend the con because her dog chewed up her passport which makes Jensen crack up. You know when you're so tired that the smallest thing can make you laugh? Yeah, he's reaching that point.

Anyways to answer the question he shares a story that just happened on the way to JIB. He was in New Mexico shooting before his flight, got home at around 2am, hadn’t packed anything, got to bed at around 3, woke up a few hours later to find somebody had messed up the car service so he hopped into his car and drove to the airport in NM. And as he’s cruising down the highway at around 9am which means it’s pretty busy a car comes in the wrong direction in his lane! He’s cruising at 75mph, going pretty fast in a four-lane highway and there’s this car coming right at him but luckily he was able to quickly change lanes and as he gets closer to the other car he lays on the horn and as he looks he sees it's just an old man gripping the steering wheel going the wrong way. At that point he wondered what to do so he called 911 to let them know, they tell him they know that they’d gotten a bunch of calls and instinctually he wanted to do a 180 and go chase the old man down and jump out of the window and grab the steering wheel. In his mind, that’s what he wanted to do, and he has no idea what happened he had kept an eye on the news to see if anything was said but he hadn't seen anything and he hopes nothing happened and the man made it to his destination safe.

I'm so thankful he was able to switch lanes safely and quickly or he could have found himself in a very bad accident.

He also mentions that when he was in Toronto for a con he had to get a work visa because he was going from Toronto to Van to shoot the movie so he was sitting in the customs hall there, and it took like 2hrs and in those 2hrs he took photos with half a dozen customs officials and kept asking them if they knew who was dealing with his paperwork. x

And that was the last question, or at least it was for me there was a slight crossover between the end of his panel and the beginning of MC's so this is when I checked out.
