He wants to. Definitely. This is what he's been quietly wishing for for the entirety of their time separated. But the breakup registers like a betrayal to him- as much as he still desperately loves her, as much as he leans into her touch, he can't help but feel that age-old instinct to draw away and protect himself. She might just have to accept that it's going to take some time for him to trust her again. He's always been a 'fool me once' kinda guy, and the type of reassurance he needs is one that only time can provide.
If she's happy to be patient, she might one day find herself to be the only person Sans has given a second chance.
Red: For all his posturing, for all his bravado, for all his directionless fury and spite... yes, he'd take her back in a heartbeat. It doesn't matter how angry he is, he wouldn't hesitate. Not for a second. The anger melts when the nightmare ends. He pulls her close, he apologises for the things he said in the heat of the moment. Just... just tell him you'll never leave. That's all he's ever wanted to hear.
It's a long night of laying beside one another, talking about what happened to make all of that go down. What made her leave, what made her come back, what made him react the way he did. In a way, it brings them closer than before- aware of the shortcomings that might bring the relationship down again.
The one she'll really have to win over again is Papyrus. He doesn't like his brother being emotionally jerked around like that. Unless she has a pretty good reason for acting how she did it'll take a while to sway him.

Horrortale Sans - He understands. There are a lot of things he used to do he can't do now, all because one person he thought was a friend turned out was not. That's ok though. With time, you learn to cope even if it's still bitter. Oak is nice to you all day after that, just making sure you feel like you're not alone.
Horrortale Papyrus - Welp. Same. He tells you he used to jog every morning before Undyne fucked up his back so bad he almost stayed paralyzed. He missed being able to be his energetic self like before and running around to annoy people. Now he just feels nostalgic and sad :( But that's ok, you can be sad with him, it will probably reverse the sadness around.
Horrorswap Sans - He stays strangely silent, just staring at his missing arm Then he suddenly leaves the room. Sorry, he doesn't like to talk about his disability. It's still too recent and he struggles a lot with accepting he can't do things the way he did anymore.
Horrorswap Papyrus - He gently hugs you to comfort you. Or to comfort himself, he's not sure anymore. It just feels like a situation where you hug people. Honey tells you that with how science evolves, he hopes someone will find a way for you to dance again.
Horrorfell Sans - That's fine. You can't move your booty like before, but he assures you that you don't need to dance to have the best booty in the whole world. You don't even know what to say to this. Sorry, Copper is not the best at comforting people, he doesn't have the social skills to do so. Forgive him, he tried.
Horrorfell Papyrus - He's sorry for you, he knows the feeling. But that's ok, there are many ways you can practice without hurting too much, like underwater. He has therapy sessions to help him with his legs every week in a pool, he could take you one time to see if you like it. He's sure you can find some way to have fun. He also wants someone so badly to have fun with him. It feels lonely sometimes facing his disability all alone.
Dancetale Sans - Welp, he's your man for this. What if he has some ways to help you with this? He's a dance instructor and he actually has a specialization for people with disabilities. He will gladly help you to have your moves back and with caution so you don't overdo yourself.
Dancetale Papyrus - He's very encouraging and tries to push you so you can know his brother a little better. He wants you to join Rambo special classes, he's sure 100% that you will find what you need there. Unfortunately, he's a bit too energetic to join. He's too scared he might accidentally hurt you if he goes a little too far. But Rambo knows the tricks and he's sure you'll dance again eventually, trust him.
Dancefell Sans - He completely stops to dance because he loves you and he knows it might hurt you to see him practicing. He doesn't miss it that much, he just doesn't want to hurt you more. You two can find another sports activity that you can do, and he'll gladly join. He's not difficult, as long as he's with you, he's very fine!
Dancefell Papyrus - Tango is probably not the best match as he's way too energetic and has a hard time to focus on things. He often accidentally outpasses your boundaries, even if he means well, and he might hurt you eventually, despite having the best intentions. He would try to be better, but he can't really change how energic he is and he would just feel guilty and frustrated looking at you gets sad because he has to dance to feel better sometimes, which he really doesn't want. He want the best for you, he's just too clumsy to really be helpful.

Cash: That healed something in his inner child... All his life he grew up with people jeering and attacking him. Of course, this is due to his stealing, but he was just a desperate kid. His family was there for him, but they were family. You had defended him unquestionably and with no reason... Cash is going to ponder this later.
Bear: Man's is HORRIFIED- What is little y/n DOING??? He can take plenty of hits, but you? After, he'll tell you never to jump in front of him like that again. Of course, he can't help the creeping smile knowing that you got his back.

just going to ramble under the cut cause as much as i'd like to lore dump via comic i simply am not a comic artist loll
OKAY SO. undyne wants to ask for sans's help tearing down the core and rebuilding it (aka: sans's original plan). if it works, sans gets his eye back and the core is working again and everyone's happy. if it doesn't work, well. it's not like sans can't just destroy it again. or destroy his eye, or threaten to destroy his eye to distract undyne and then destroy the core again. wink wonk.
undyne is genuine in wanting to try and fix things. she knows aliza is probably her best bet in getting sans to help, as she's actually managed to like. form some type of relationship with sans. admittedly it's largely through papyrus who would be happy to try and convince sans as well, but they both know that actually convincing sans is highly unlikely. and they're not willing to push it due to sans' instability.
ultimately i'm gonna say i don't see any convincing actually happening. sans is far too distrustful of undyne to actually be in her space, and wouldn't just give plans to aliza to deliver cause then he wouldn't be there to destroy the core if the plan didn't work but the core was still reassembled and just used sans' eye as the power source. also i just don't trust myself to expand on horrortale canon cause i think it would get out of hand+lose what horrortale's all about lol.
however if it did work out!! i think undyne and sans' relationship would be so cool to explore. undyne would be genuine in her wanting to repair it, but she's still harsh and cruel and sans is still paranoid and aggressive. i think if they were working on it together they could probably get some semblance of a good relationship back. i think that once sans had possession of his eye again tho, he would lose a lot of that paranoia and aggression because like. his life isn't literally in undyne's hands anymore yk. he wouldn't lose it completely given past events and like literal head trauma/brain damage. i think it's largely just part of his personality now. but it would be better. undyne would be too because the relief of actually succeeding as queen and being able to feed everyone would probably make her so much more fun to be around lol.

I had a mental image and it won't let me go. Basically, Stretch sees how stressed out Blue is because he is constantly having to out his life on pause to play out some random role in a Reset over and over, and while it's comforting to know Stretch isn't the only one dealing with Resets and he has someone he can not only trust but go to for comfort (strange as it is to imagine with it being Sans, whom he hates having to burden especially now that he knows just how cool his brother actually is, he always knew Sans was the most magnificent monster but learning he's an interdimentional hero working alongside literal gods does soemthign to a guy).
So basically, Papyrus works double time to stop the Resets. And eventually he succeeds! So Sans is now clear to live his life and, like you said, finally tell everyone about his true self and his real job!
Problem is... multiverse shenanigans keep interrupting him every time he tries so while everyone knows something weird is up and it involves Sans, there is no context for the suddenly appearing skeletons that constantly interrupted their day and Sans somehow knows them all and is slowly getting more and more frustrated by the day because he very clearly wants to tell them something.
It blows down to Sans literally sitting everyone down and just saying it outright that the multiverse exists and when Killer comes running in on a supply run, Sans bodily tackles him, sits on him, and forces him to help him explain because,
"So help me if I get interrupted while explaining what the multiverse is one more time I'm gonna spike all of your favorite foods with laxatives!!"
"That'd be funny, actually..."
"DAMNIT KILLER!!!"
Idk jsut funny shenanigans with Blueberry getting more and more frustrated because he wants to tell people and finally is allowed to tell people but apparently the multiverse decided that moment to be the biggest nuisance

Saving this saving this sAVING THIS—
Everything and everyone is just constantly against him in the most unfortunately comedic ways. And it starts out small! Little inconveniences, maybe not even at the fault of outside influences. He’s trying to tell Chara and Frisk, but no, Asgore says it’s their bed time, it’ll have to wait. Tries to explain it to Undyne and Alphys, hoping Undyne would maybe be help in explaining it to everyone else, but oops something in her lab exploded, they have to deal with that real quick.
Then it’s the Stars needing his help in another world, so he has to dip for a day or too, leaving Paps to be like “uh he’ll explain later.” Later comes, and a very apologetic Dream needs his help pulling Noots and Error apart cuz Ink’s no help, he’s just watching their argument and eating popcorn. So he has to leave again, far more frustrated than before, which baffles all his friends and family.
Then it’s like actual trouble; a world is falling apart and they need to evacuate it. There’s a council meeting and they’re introducing a new Sans. The Gang’s on an LV spree and needs someone to spare with so they don’t rip apart more Underfell copies. Just, every time he comes in saying he has an announcement to make, planning around his schedule and everyone else’s to get a family night together and finally come clean, SOMETHING has to get in the way and ruffle his feathers.
Meanwhile his family is so concerned. They’ve never seen Sans so tired and annoyed before. The dude just is done with the innocent bean performance pretty much as soon as they’d stopped the resets and is, to them, acting strangely. He clearly wants to talk but just can never get the chance. And who are these other skeletons that are popping up to talk to him?? To whisk him away with stern, worried looks?? Does he have long lost relatives they never talked about? Is he involved in something bad? Is he safe, is he trying to escape something he doesn’t wanna be a part of??
(Paps takes a bit of pity on him and asks if Blue just wants him to explain it, but Blue really really wants to be the one to tell them of his adventures and his job and all of his progress and achievements. He’s waited SO LONG for this he wants it so badly!!)
Eventually he manages to get Lust to just cover for him for a single day, a DAY that’s all he needs, but NO. Killer’s just gotta swoop in last second and Blue’s SO at the end of his patience why is this so DIFFICULT—

I wanna read a Bad Sans Family fic where all of them except for maybe Horror are struggling to adjust to having family again.
Nightmare, if he’s still Passive in this AU, struggles to adjust to having people around him at all. He’s spent 500+ years alone, fighting against his own brother and having nothing but memories of a family.
He killed his own mother, who—due to her circumstances—was not able to properly be there for the twins. And as a result he had to step up and look after Dream, becoming more like his older brother than his twin. That included keeping his abuse a secret from Dream out of fear his abusers would hurt his brother, too.
Cross not only murdered his entire family, destroying his AU in the process, but if I remember right—his family also “betrayed” him too.
On top of that, he and his Paps spent the early years of their lives as orphans before being picked up by XGaster—who I’m sure wasn’t the best father, especially after Cross started remembering the truth.
Dust isn’t likely to be interested in other people, and would probably cling to Phantom as the only family he needs. Accepting the Bad Sanses as his family would probably feel like rejecting his “brother” in his eyes.
A way to get Dust into the fold could be to help him accept that Phantom isn’t real. That his actual brother would want him to move on, and find happiness and safety with a new family.
In a way that’s somewhat similar to Killer, Dust would struggle to get close to them because he fears hurting or killing them. Dust fears losing himself and becoming nothing but a monster who hunts for LV; especially when his Phantom encourages it.
(If I remember correctly, one of Dust’s creators said on Twitter that they had a nightmare in Dust’s POV about Dust killing Horror, so I’d imagine Dust would have nightmares like that & this fear would extend to the others. Maybe just to be poetic or something, he asks Killer to kill him should he ever lose himself.)
(Which brings up a whole other bag of issues for Killer. He’s tired of being forced and asked to kill & hurt people he cares about. He’d agree, to put Dust at ease, but he wouldn’t be happy about it.)
Killer isn’t likely to be interested in having family anymore. His old family was used as tools to hurt and control him, and he was manipulated for years into believing that they were his enemies. That they didn’t actually care about him and they were all lying to him.
It took killing Papyrus for the first time for him to realize the truth, and by that point, it was already too late.
He wouldn’t trust himself with them. And he wouldn’t trust them with himself. He knows a part of him—stage 3—would likely view them as his enemies; no matter how much he personally cares for them or trusts them. Especially with his Chara and DT whispering in his head and influencing him.
A huge part of getting Killer to accept them as his family is trust. That they trust him, that he can trust in their strength and ability to keep him contained should he lose control of himself. That he can trust that they actually care about him.
That he’s safe with them. Killer needs to feel safe enough to allow people in. It’ll take time, but maybe Killer—while in Stage 3— can learn not to view everyone as a threat.
Hell, maybe a large part of him as forgotten what it means to have family at all. Memories of his family just bring up pain, guilt, confusion and fear. Things he doesn’t want to remember or feel for people he hardly can recognize as his family.
And, well..they weren’t his family, were they? They were Sans’. He supposes that Chara was the closest he had to someone that felt like “family.” And he killed them, so...
XChara, because he’s just a kid who deserves a family too, will of course face pushback from the Murder Time Trio.
He will likely not be able to find any common ground with Horror or Dust, but he does have the whole “being a victim of torture” thing in common with Killer.
And since I like to HC Killer & Cross as partners in Bad Sans AUs, they’ll be forced to work together anyway. Killer likely wouldn’t trust any Chara at all; and I don’t see Killer ever seeing X as his family, but I think he will eventually accept that Cross & XChara are a package deal.
Because CC is just Cross & XChara sharing a soul and body, Killer will do as he’s ordered to and protect them. And maybe finally being protected by someone—for once in his life—really helps XChara. Even if Killer isn’t friendly or warm to him.
Horror still has his brother, and there’s also Aliza. Not to mention an entire community of people he’s had to look after for 7 years. But a major part of his character is the betrayal trauma he faced and is still dealing with.
Like Killer, Horror would need trust. If people he thought were his friends could plot his murder for over a year and then attempt to go through with it, then the so called “Bad Sanses” could certainly do the same. Especially given their own histories with their own brothers.
(And especially with Killer. One who was once like him and Dust—a Sans—and yet is changed in a way neither him nor Dust are. At least they still know they are Sans and don’t seem to believe they’re someone else. And if Killer believes he’s not Sans, that makes him even more unpredictable in Horror’s eyes.)
(Of course, this is before Horror learns about some of what Killer went through when he was Sans & how being fused with another soul has effected Killer’s entire identity and sense of self.)

Hello again, my friend! So I was reading through some of the recent asks you have answered, and I have to say, I still love this house of yandere skeletons, I hope you might run with the idea for a story with that concept someday (if you haven't already :3 )
So my question. Let's say for fun, it is an entire yandere house, the MC in question has caught the attention of the boys, S/O or not, however you feel with this one, MC has played nice and gone along pretty much with everything the skeletons have asked/demanded, all the while plotting escape. Eventually, someone messes up, a window or door unlocked, a key forgotten, something, and MC finally makes their move.
How would the skeletons react to this, gasp, betrayal, and how quickly would they track the MC down? Might it be possible for them to actually get a bus out of town before being tracked down and.. what if they encounter some lovely mafia skeletons in the process? Might they be able to sweet talk their way into some help/ be used a a means for the mafia boys to get something / or are our mafia boys just as (or maybe more) as scary?

I didn’t do the mafia because I feel like if these skeletons are corrupted then they would be too. It’d be a glitch that skeletons become yandere. You’d escape only to be put in a different horror house.

-Oh you make it home. Sans isn’t too concerned. His expertise are computer based. Even if you make it home or to the other side of the world. He knows where you are and can absolutely bring you back anytime he wants. Basically with Sans you are ‘free’ to go wherever you want but if you betray him, or refuse to listen to him then he will systematically ruin your life and the life of those you care about.
Papyrus
-You manage to make it to the next town over before he tracks you down. It’s soul crushing, he does it so casually and everyone just seems to know him and believe him over you. Papyrus was always good at manipulating others and he knows exactly how to use it to his advantage.
Red
-He gets mad when he realizes you’ve tricked him, like he trusted you. When Red gets angry he has a hard time controlling himself. He easily hunts you down before you make it to the end of the driveway. In his rage he may just break a few of your bones. He’ll apologize for it later but he just can’t let you leave.
Edge
- You feel like you’ve made it, you're free. Then you enjoy some food, a nice drink and you wake up back in the mansion like a bad dream. It happens again and again and the worst part is Edge doesn’t say anything about it. It’s like you never left.
Blue
-He’s going to hunt you down in the forest like it’s a game because for him it is a game. At least you better hope he keeps thinking it’s a game because while it’s still scary, him hunting you down, if he finds out it’s real you are so dead, or at least seriously maimed so that you can never leave again.
Orange
- You don’t make it far. His panic after noticing you were gone gets him to track you down pretty fast. He doesn’t like showing anyone his true side and he trusted you which he now sees as a mistake. He won’t be making a mistake twice. Hope you like chains, cause you are going to be chained to a wall.
Berry
-you won’t get far and Berry knows it. He isn’t co-captain of the royal guard for nothing after all. There’s some magic trickery around here, no matter how far you run or which direction you always end up back at the mansion. It’s annoying to watch the brat drink tea in the garden calmly as you try to escape only to always make it back. Berry thinks your attempts are very entertaining.
Syrup
- If you want to leave you just have to ask. Syrup isn’t keeping you at the mansion to make you miserable, that’s the last thing he wants. He’s more about treating you so well that you don’t want to leave in the first place. Or if you do leave you realize just how good your life was with him.

Conflict between Sans and Toriel - A discussion for Chapter 3
ok so like the misunderstanding thing IS still an element but it's not much of a plot point until the end. after the chapter's big events, Sans goes to apologize-but-not-really-apologizing-properly-you-know-how-he-is
He'd confess that there was a common rumor that monsters believed Toriel was involved with the humans (Cause some random humans showing up so soon after the barrier? suspicious af.)
Toriel would be like "...damn ok that sucks that people would think of me like that..."
and then sans would admit that toriel on the phone sounded so sketchy and dodgey that he also came to believe the rumor.
like damn. toriel would feel hurt by that.
and in hindsight, having this small scene works best like this cause its only focused and resolved when the situation is over. so you're not going "AUGH JUST TALK IT OUT ALREADY" cause like! they ARE now! and man its so much more personal when its sans having done the betrayal. he's the reason she even trusts monsters at all! he was the one to draw her out of her shell and be open to trusting monsters.
it goes even deeper than that- her having sans promise to take care of Frisk and ensure they live is proof that a monster can defy Asgore and protect children. he really is the reason she can move on and trust. full stop. sans means everything to her in regards to leaving the Ruins and trusting Frisk can be safe with a kingdom that once wanted them dead.
so him believing her to be against her beliefs and being a liar would dig DEEP. But in his defense, she didn't explain "Oh sorry sans I've been busy cause my frickin kids came back from the dead" so her dodgy behavior could be explained.
but in HER defense saying so would sound literally delusional. I've already established her mental health is shakey and her trust in reality is rocky. She still fears she's been delusional. cause what if sans asks to hear from her now revived children and then tells her there's no one on the phone but her? She can't face that. She can't even risk the chance that she's delusional. it's not a matter of trust that Sans would spill the beans early and hurt monsterkind's trust in the family for keeping secrets, it's her own personal hell she's dealing with.
the whole situation happened because sans was too on edge and scared over his brother's kidnapping to trust Toriel when she was playfully lying about something. he made the assumption of her being guilty and was too hurt to confront her properly about it. he's so... cowardly. he'll own u and diss you severely when he thinks he's made the right judgment but god forbid he actually owns up to his OWN mistakes. and I think this is the first real-time Toriel will see this side of him.
Obviously, with the whole situation being so messy, I see Toriel being understanding and burying her hurt because like, yeah, Papyrus was in danger. She did lie to him. It's not really Sans' fault for being distrustful and scared. but this whole thing has planted the seeds of her distrust of Monsterkind again + her friendship issues with Sans.

The whole time he forms a tall, thorny circle around them that would push away anyone who got close, preventing anyone from interfering and shielding the eyes of children and cameras. Once she is killed, he drags the body under the dirt and lets down the makeshift barrier. He looks angry and slightly teary-eyed. He mutters to himself.* ... I bet Chara felt way more pain than that.
All the others flee far, knowing what they're up against.
(Kara) "Wow, that was fantastic."
Papyrus had his mouth wide open.
(Dess) "Why didn't you tell me about his power? Yeah, I know they stopped Clover, but an entire field of people. Speaking of fields, I should tell you something important. The Flowey in this world isn't Asriel. I don't know who it is. No one besides Frisk does."
(Kara) "Well, let's meet this Flowey. John, you're coming too."
(John) "Well, I guess the humans would kill me in an instant. I'll go."
We all started 'walking'(Flowey just digs) to their home.
(Kara) "Hey, speaking of which, what did make you want to be a good person.'
(John) "I was one of Chara's classmates and… There was a brief pause as John looked to Flowey I'm not going to say what happened unless Flowey wants to know. Long story short, it made some of us very angry. Thank god she's dead now."
Flowey popped out of the ground
(Flowey) "Hi everyone."
(Kara) "Um, hi. Why do you…"
(Dess) "KARA GET DOWN!!!"
A barrage of bullets comes Kara's way, which they dodge.
(Flowey) "What's wrong? You must've learned already. I see you have a little flower friend yourself. Hi Buttercup, you have a fire inside you. I'm glad at least that never changed. So cat's out of the bag, I'm not just Flowey."
(Kara) "Well, what's your name?"
(Flowey) "I've been called many things in my day, a demon to some, a savior to others, but to you, buttercup Shows heart locket I'm your best friend forever!!!"
(Kara) "Chara."

4am time to post massive snippet from a note I will not be sharing the rest of <3
Personally, I see UF Papyrus as having self worth issues not so much in the way of self hatred or low self esteem (under the bravado he puts out), but rather that he hinges his self worth almost entirely on how useful he can be. It’s put a tremendous strain on his own inner relationship with himself, that he almost lacks a sense of self. He becomes what he needs to be, to survive, for acceptance, in the hope of “earning” love admiration, to keep them safe. As long as he’s successfully doing those things, nothing else matters.
He’s convinced himself of that so much, so thoroughly, that he never lets himself fail, never lets himself give up. Because if he does, then what’s the point? What’s he there for? If he can’t even do what he sees as the bare minimum, what good does he do by existing at all?
Whenever I think about surface scenarios at length, there’s almost always some point he stumbles into an existential crisis. He has such a genuinely hard time understanding the reasoning “just because”. His entire life has been means to an end but the end wasn’t an ending at all.
Despite wanting friends and acceptance and affection, those have always been a “waste of time”, or even dangerous. A vulnerability waiting to be exploited. He and Sans always stuck together because it was the smart thing to do, because no one else knew them like they knew each other, because they knew beyond a shadow of a doubt they could always trust each other, and that was rare. The concept of Sans actually caring about him, enough to want to be part of his life simply because they’re brothers, isn’t entirely alien, but it’s never been enough before. If he isn’t useful to Sans, why would they bother? And since they don’t live together anymore, and Sans has Toriel to cook and clean, and he actually likes, seeks her company, why would Sans want anything to do with him?
Would he want that? Well of course! Not that he’d easily admit it, but he’d felt like he’d lost the right to being part of Sans’ life “just because” a long time ago. Back when he started feeling like more trouble than he was worth. When they barely had any food or stable shelter and it seemed like all he ever managed to do was annoy Sans or get them in trouble. Sure, he’d managed to “make himself worth it” by “pulling his own weight” eventually, but that set the standard for him.
He and Undyne were fierce allies, Captains of the North and South, she’d known him since he was a teenager, they’d looked out for each other. Maybe they each had different priorities, but at the end of the day, through even the roughest of patches, they’d formed a strong loyalty to each other. But they weren’t friends, don’t be ridiculous. The notion that she would choose to spend time with him for any other reason than that they work together is absurd. Sure, maybe they’d taken comfort in being able to relax around each other enough knowing the other wouldn’t stab them in the back, but again, that was just something to take advantage of being so rare in their society. If their furthering of trust building no longer benefits them, why would she want that? What does she gain from talking to him about “unimportant” personal matters anymore?
Frisk, Frisk at least he understands. They’re just a child, after all, they need protection and guidance. When children are young they also still need more “emotional” support, too, they’re still learning how the world works. But once they’re older and more capable of handling themself, of course they won’t need him anymore. That’s just how it works, they won’t need the protection, they wouldn’t gain anything from dealing with him beyond what would be expected professionally, and perhaps maintaining a few personal ties to help support a strong working relationship as well.
And it’s bizarrely self contained, too. He doesn’t automatically view others’ relationships through the same lens because so much of why he views his own this way stem from the burden of responsibility that’d been impressed on him from an incredibly early age, first by Gaster, then Sans, then Asgore. Sans and Toriel care about each other, simply because they do, just as Toriel cares for Frisk and Undyne and Alphys care for each other. But for him, he has to earn it. He has to be worth taking up space in someone’s life, he has to serve a purpose because he was made to serve a purpose, and it’s only exacerbated by how deeply he’d come to view his own intrinsic personality traits as negative.
Being kind, believing in the greater good, looking for the best in others was a quick way to get dusted and Sans tried desperately hard to teach that to him when they were living on the streets, because he had to. A good natured little kid like him would’ve been swallowed whole by their world and it was all Sans could do to teach him to repress and reject those tendencies. He needed to harden up and learn to prioritize himself but he never did because that contradicted with his “serving a purpose” mentality and led to Papyrus prioritizing the well being of everyone else first, but prioritizing his own well being enough to make sure he survived to be able to otherwise prioritize them.
But interests and innocence and kindness and seeking affection were bad. They were bad and would get him, and thusly Sans, killed. Loving and being happy and showing positive feelings are bad and so, inevitably, when faced with understanding he could be loved just because, he doesn’t understand why. What is there to love about someone who just is for whatever reason he needs to be?
False confidence was one key to surviving, part of his facade, but if asked why, he’d only be able to insist he is admired and respected for technical attributes. His strength, his status, his ability to protect, his loyalty, his intelligence, his ingenuity. The things that make him able to serve his purposes. He doesn’t consider the fact Sans is endlessly inspired by how immutable his kindness is. He doesn’t consider the fact Undyne thinks he’s hilarious and similarly admires his commitment to helping others. He doesn’t consider the guards might actually be loyal to him because they trust him not because of his status or power but because he’s always looked out for them, even when their own king would not.
He is incapable of seeing himself as an entire monster, and thusly incapable of understanding others can. That they could like, even love him, for every facet, not just the ones he wears proudly, pinned to his chest, a painstakingly crafted mask designed to earn approval. Maybe, maybe he might learn how to take it off, on purpose, and be able to see himself in the reflection. But I think it’d take a very, very long time.

Mmmm I don't ever go seek out art for TTCC it's all sent to me or I find it thru my recommended or thru reblogs but I think I talked about this before, I'm not sure - but a majority of the Cathal art I DO see here Nad on clash cord that isn't from me or friends/mutuals is... Him drawn as a child/legit a baby... I.... He's employed do you realize he's at at least an older teenager if you want to keep him that young... I have no specific age for him but like why does EVERYONE treat Cathal like just a baby child. Like his personality isn't JUST that he's Allan's son.
If you really want me to pick an age for Cathal he'd be around 19-23, still very young, understandable age for someone to have a First Job like that in my opinion - but already an adult and capable of things... And like just because he's lazy and he sits around and doesn't do anything because he DOESN'T WANT TO doesn't mean he's not capable..... Why do you people baby him so much. How do you imagine sans and flowey's relationship?
Sans and Flowey!!!! I've thought about this for a while
I think the usual interpretation is 'they dont like each other', but this is Undertale, things are more complex than that
I mean, sure, before the pacifist ending, in the timelines where Sans knows about Flowey, he doesn't like him because he's super suspicious and probably has done awful things already. And Flowey has gone through a Sans fight countless of times too and most likely lost all the time lol I really doubt Flowey would ever finish a Sans fight, he's a very hot headed kid, he would just reset the whole timeline
Now, post-game? That's interesting
First of all, unlike many people believe, Sans doesn't remember anything from previous timelines and he probably doesn't remember much from the Asriel fight just like everyone else does. He doesn't initially have that much problem with Flowey, but maybe a little bit. He knows about Papyrus being friends with a flower and he was suspecious about that, maybe he doesn't remember much from the last fight but remembering a flower showing up and then passing out is not a really pleasant memory, those two facts don't help much
Flowey would probably be annoyed at Sans at first, 'this is the guy that has made me reset so many times....', and he's aware that he most likely doesn't like him, so he doesn't love hanging out with him
But things are more complex than that
If Sans learns more about Flowey, and knows he used to be the one to reset time again and again, I'm sure he would hold that against him, understandably so. But if he also learns what happened, and that this is a child, and that he lost a sibling, do you really think Sans Undertale of all characters would hate Flowey. Maybe he still doesn't fully trust him, but he also didn't fully trust Frisk, and he was still very kind to them. Because Sans is very kind and he really really wants to be friends with everyone, probably as much as Papyrus does, he just shows it in a different way. He probably would not forgive someone that shows to him that they are a completely awful person, even if it hurts because he really wanted to be their friend
But Flowey is trying to improve, he is not trying to be awful again, he is being nice, he does kind things for people (like helping Toriel) and he is friends with Papyrus completely honestly. If you are trying to be nicer, and if you are also kind to Papyrus, then Sans likes you
Flowey might be annoyed at first, but he completely understand why Sans wouldn't like him, if anything he probably just feels guilty around Sans, which would make him try to be better even more, even if he doesn't admit it at first
So it would be a cold relationship at first, Sans doesn't trust him and Flowey feels guilty, but with time there is improvement from Flowey, there is more trust. Flowey tries to be nicer, Sans is patient and kind, so they would start to get along. It's not easy at first, but it is with time
I think when they are kind of friends, Sans likes to annoy Flowey with jokes, just like how he does to everyone else, and Flowey acts annoyed but he is kind of happy that Sans jokes around with him. Flowey probably knows a lot about Sans, but he doesn't say it out loud, he kind of just tries to help Sans when he needs it
I think they can be friends with time!
