At the start of this project all I wanted was to 'learn how to draw' using comics as a medium and the MDZS audio drama as inspiration.
I've come *very* far from making simple, 3 panel black and white comics, and I truly do intend to go even further. Thank you to everyone who cheered me on throughout 2023, it has been an incredible year in so many ways I never could have imagined. I look forwards to drawing throughout 2024 B*)
Trying to piece together the miscommunication between Link and Normal where they both think the other doesn't know what they want and I think it's that the level of results they're each looking for is different. Link wants to know what to do from moment to moment and every decision in each moment is backed by "which option gets fewer people hurt or killed." Whereas Normal isn't looking for a moment-to-moment goal, he's looking for a long term goal of helping the Doodler, and so what that looks like from moment to moment isn't always going to look the same.
So like, the moment with the pick. To Link, Normal is the one who doesn't know what to do because Normal doesn't know what to do in that moment to resolve the anchor, while Link takes a quick action. But from Normal's point of view it looks like Link has no idea what he's doing because his actions had no thought towards the ongoing Doodler problem.
I'm taking a course with an author coach and today's module was all about realizing your writing goals through visibility, connectivity, and positive self talk. So! Here we go.
Clay’s garage is coming together so nicely, it’s almost ready to be a hangout and play space! Only today has it really hit me that I can actually have my own space to host play, and can invite friends over to torture them or have them torture me~ 👉👈
Poll about creating characters for a game really has me thinking about my methods because while I don't usually situate a character in the world/create a full backstory beforehand I feel like I need such a strong sense of who a character is, how they behave, and at least the skeleton of why they behave like that that I usually get bored and feel like I'm playing some flat nothing when I don't have that. I guess that isn't the same as having a fully rigid concept, especially since I'm happy to change things radically in conversation with a game when it's going well, but it's still enough of a distinct Guy Who Already Exists In My Brain I couldn't call it a loose concept. And usually when things go well for my looser concept characters and I develop them during a playthrough I just hit a point partway through where it's like... cool! I have completed the concept for this character now, I can stop playing and relocate them to a Real Story. They almost never feel like they fit right until they're in something where they're starting from that state, haha. I'm like this with tabletop stuff as well. I'm not always the ten page backstory guy but if I'm not at least coming in with some needlessly complex portrait of personality the character is not going to stick for more than a oneshot. Just doesn't interest me to play! I don't feel like I'm seeing through their eyes yet. Can't get in the right zone mentally. I think that's what it's really about for me- a loose concept is rarely immersive, and without that immersion I just struggle to feel like the actions are coming from the character instead of me and come together into a cohesive story about the character (rather than one about me pushing buttons).
i do want to keep working on lover boy in november but i also do want to “softly” aim for 50k and that book is NOT the type of book you can write 50k words in a month for 😭😭
Okay. Time to walk away from TKB for a bit. I don't even know what this is anymore. More angst? Little bit of angst that leads to hugs? idk *smashes face into keyboard*
I wanted to have a bit of happy, but Bakhure isn't playing nice. He is once again throwing my plot out the window and doing whatever the fuck he wants.
Creating ripples of change in a stagnant sea.

there's really something about lincoln as a character that's really getting to me (/pos) i just love the choices that matt is making like i love how decisive link is (i.e the breaking of two anchors now) he truly doesn't care anymore about anything but his friends and figuring out how to fix all this and it shows in everything he does. there's no like outward anger towards anything or anyone or any situation he's just over it and trying to fix this and i love him
