You know, after watching a couple of movies/series about androids, if I had to name a favourite after Blade Runner (1982, I feel like nothing can beat this in being the number one for me) it'd be "After Yang"
Among all the android movies out there that I've seen this is the only one I keep thinking about semi-regularly. It resonated with me, it was personal. It also has a really unique way of handling the topic that is really different from what I've seen in other movies.
And it's the only movie I know where android had identity crisis not because of wondering about his human/not human identity, but rather assigned nationality.
"He did question if he was Chinese."
If you don't mind crying, I recommend this movie wholeheartedly. It's good. It's unique. And it doesn't get nearly enough attention.
