listen I expected literally Nothing from the D&D movie okay, like I can't make it clear enough that I expected the most soulless money grab with a good cgi budget imaginable, I went in having already gone through every stage of grief and landed on acceptance and LISTEN
I fucking CRIED during this dumb RPG movie. it wasn't just "not terrible" it was objectively good with a clever plot and compelling characters and sincere emotional beats. this movie loves D&D so fucking much and it NAILS the "a bunch of goobers try to be cool and accidentally discover The Power Of Friendship And Also Great Violence" classic D&D party vibe. their barbarian's last name is fucking Kilgore and my entire family cried in the theater.
I hope they make twelve of these motherfuckers.

The dichotomy between Essek in Aeor Arc I and Aeor Arc II is incredible. The first time he was in the throes of crushing guilt, he was often walking on eggshells, and he was largely an anxious wreck. He got to be competent and in control of his own destiny like twice total. This time around he's confident and assured even when things are going wrong, he's deeply unafraid to show it when he's pissed off, and he will not shut up about his boyfriend. Absolute glow-up. I love this for him SO much.

looking at the Barbie Oscar noms like
honestly, I wasn't even as into Barbie as a lot of other people were, but seeing a movie about the displacement of women in the public consciousness get award nominations (AND WINS) for the male lead and his joke song instead of most of its female creative team may turn out to be my villain origin story.
like... seriously??? even Greta Gerwig wasn't nominated???
I'm Just Ken got nominated??? instead of Dua Lipa?????
okay!!!

actually there's a huge difference between queerbaiting/"Hey guys look how gay these two are haha they're definitely gonna end up together, give us views uwu oh- never mind oops they're going to superhell" and "Hey it's 2004-2012 and there's no way we can get away with having our protags/main couple be two gay men but we really want to show these two are soulmates so we'll do it through subtext and underlying messages and by literally telling you over and over again their relationship is the most stable and important in the entire show, and the ending will imply they lived and died together", and it's insane that some of yall don't see how these two are not the same fucking thing.
