In April of 1929, the Birth Control Clinical Research Bureau in Greenwich Village was raided by police. They arrested five staff members, confiscated medical records, and tried to bully patients into giving them their names and addresses.
Their tactics backfired. The Bureau and its clinic in Brooklyn received an enormous amount of publicity, and many doctors protested the violation of doctor-patient confidentiality. When the case came to court on April 19, 1929, the judge ruled that the police had exceeded the scope of the search warrant he had issued, and the case was dropped.

So, I saw this ask about Thrown off the Ice, get curious, found it, reed it, cried on it and went here to ask you if you have other rec either of FanFic or books about hockey guys in love. I already have read Sweater Weather series.
Also, this is so fun to me because I don’t even watch hockey, don’t even know the rules, but the stories involving this sport or similar (like All for the Game) are amazing, and I know about them only thank to you so THANK U 💕
I don't have any fanfics (other than Sweater Weather so y'all should go read that if you haven't, it's by the lovely lumosinlove)
I do have books though! SO Three is the Luckiest Number and Love and Other Inconveniences by Catherine Cloud, not *technically* a series but they take place in the same universe and there are characters and events that overlap in both, the second one does deal with a lot of family trauma stuff and the first one deals a bit more with death and grief. they are both very lovely and well written, and happy endings! Coming in First Place and And Then by Taylor Fitzpatrick this is a series, following the story of David and Jake, but David is the main character and I would argue this is a lot more a character study than anything else, like it's all about his growth and like him becoming someone who can be with Jake, he is also definitely written as being not neurotypical imo, there is a third and final book in this series coming out some time this year, ALSO speaking of things taking place in the same universe, this series takes place in the same universe as Thrown Off the Ice and young Mike makes an appearance in book two SO that's fun :) Hockey Bois: A Beer League Romance by A.L. Heard, this is the only one not about professional hockey players but i kinda really like that about it? it follows nick who gets into hockey as an adult and decides to join a team and ends up having a crush on his hot grumpy teammate who takes beer league hockey way too seriously
Winging It by Ashlyn Kan and Morgan James, two teammates fall in love and try to navigate that and it's mostly a very silly goofy time but it is definitely does have a few heart wrenching moments, lots of pirates of the Caribbean and ice cream, also a bit spicier than the other books
Heated Rivalry and The Long Game by Rachel Reid, technically part of a bigger series but imo these are the only two worth reading, this is the MOST smutty, like basically smut with plot, but like, im obsessed with the enemies to lovers, built up rivals since we were teenagers, goody-goody canandian and bad boy russian, like it checks all my hockey trope boxes, :) :)

Ari, smooths your tail down, running his fingers towards the base of where it starts to disappear between your cheeks. he tugs the tail lightly making you whimper and the metallic plug slips out slightly to only be sucked back inside by your puckered hole. Ari smiles now that he has your attention. He leads you out of the crate by your collar and leash. Setting a bowl of milk on the floor by his feet.
"Sleep well my pretty little kitty?" He strokes your hair, gently pushing your head down to the bowl of milk.
You Stick your ass up in the air wiggling your butt and giving Ari the perfect view of your slick and flowering pussy. It just opens up for him, inviting him to fuck you. When you give the milk a timid lick Ari can't help but get feral. in seconds he's released his dick, hands gripping your hips roughly as he pounds deep inside of you. You cry out trying to hold and take what he gives you no matter how rough he is. The milk spills as your face tips the bowl covering you and the bowl in cold creamy milk as his dick is covered in your natural cream.
"Such a dumb messy, little kitten spilling her milk. Better keep all of daddy's milk between her lips." Ari says as he watches his dick blur in and out of your pussy.
Oh my fucking god — we’re going full on petplay aren’t we??? This was bound to happen… I read this in the morning and just UGH omfg okay!!
Warnings: extreme petplay, strong dd/lg undertones, daddy kink, breeding kink, smut, dubcon
Tumblr media
You like how Ari’s made your cage all pretty. It’s big and pink and soft, with fluffy pillows to curl up on, the pink matching the collar around your neck. It sports your owner’s initials “A.L.” Ari had bought you from an underground auction a few months ago. At first you were scared, but your new master is a lot nicer than other masters — some of your friends weren’t as lucky as you.
“Is my kitten hungry?” You hear Ari’s voice singsong and it makes you purr happily. You crawl closer to him and nuzzle against his leg, rubbing your cheek against the rough denim, nipping against the material before your face dips down to lick at his boot, to show him that yes, you are pretty hungry.
“I give you permission to speak, kitten.” Ari instructs you softly. As his purchased pet, Ari has strict rules for you. He’d gone through all of them that first night when he’d bought you, when you were trembling and scared and a virgin. Dumb pets like you don’t know how to speak, is what Ari had told you, not unless their owners give them permission to.
Other rules included always referring to him as Sir… “Unless it’s playtime,” Ari had said, “Then you call me daddy.” You also had to crawl around everywhere, and always always wear the collar Ari had bought you, which was often attached to a leash. Other things you had to wear included a butt plug with a cute furry tail attached, and little kitty ears too.
“So hungry, daddy!” You mewl quietly, biting at the leather of his boot, gazing up at him expectantly as he shoves his shoe further into your face. And it’s not particularly food that you’re hungry for, and you’re pretty sure your daddy knows that, because he smirks.
He fills your little pink bowl with milk, watching proudly as you lap at it, splashing it all over your face in your eagerness. “So good, daddy, thank you!” You say, making sure to stick your ass out and wiggle it a bit for him, because daddy always told you to “show off the goods”.
“One day, kitten, daddy’s gonna drink your milk.” Ari says fondly as he ties up your leash against the table leg. “Remember those babies you promised to give me? My babies? You’ll feed them your milk, and daddy too. Won’t you kitten?”
You nod shyly, licking your lips and sitting up on your hands and knees to smile at him, “Yes daddy. Gonna have your babies!” (You didn’t know when you would, but you definitely would. Ari had taken you to see the doctor recently, who had told your daddy that you were “extremely fertile.”)
Ari strokes your hair fondly, scratching behind your ear because he knows you love that the most. “My good little kitten. You’ve been so good these past few weeks, really making your daddy proud. Why, soon I’ll be able to take you on pet play-dates outside of the house. You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
You nod, purring happily and licking at his boot again to show your affection. You haven’t left the house since Ari bought you, all the pet play dates have been others coming over to your house. Like the other day when your daddy’s friend Steve and his pet had come to visit. You still blush at the memories of everything the two depraved daddies had done with you and Steve’s kitten.
“So you agree that you’ve been good, kitty baby?”
You bite your lip, “Tried so hard to be good!” You murmur, thinking back to early days when you’d try and resist Ari, begging him to treat you like a human-being, screaming at him even. You can’t ever imagine doing that now — your daddy is the best and kindest man in the world and you never want to make him sad.
“Mm, and you have been good. I think you might deserve a treat, kitten. What do you think?” Ari asks.
“A treat! Yes daddy please! Want treat so bad!” You cry. Treats are rare — and they can be many different things. Like being allowed to sleep with Ari on his bed instead of on the floor. Or a new collar. Or a new toy.
But this time, Ari unzips his jeans, pulling his thick cock out and you can feel your mouth begin to water. He’s so big and veiny and throbbing and red — you still remember the first time he’d forced his dick inside you. You still shiver at the memory.
“Suck my dick, kitty baby, just like how daddy taught you to.” Ari instructs you softly, “and maybe if you’re good enough, I’ll give you my cream. You like daddy’s cream, don’t you?”
“Love daddy’s cream!!!” You cry happily, letting him guide your head with a hold at the back of your neck, pushing your face down. “Want daddy’s cream all the time! Like last time, when there was so much of it on my face! Love it more than regular milk!”
“Mm, daddy’s gonna love getting you pregnant.” Ari almost grunts with pleasure, but he’s alert enough to push your head down on his cock, forcing you to take him in your mouth, “But for now, kitten baby, this is the treat you get. And if you pull away or don’t swallow, daddy’s gonna leave you tied up here all night, got it, kitten?”
“Yes, daddy.”

☆ Reading exchange game ☆
I feel like doing a couple of readings, so I've opened up this account once again (some of you may know me as @hellflamed from exchanges)
Rules:
1. Answer one of my questions via ASK with the divination method of your choice, mention which method you used /tarot/oracle/spotify song shuffle/bibliomancy/intuition/etc. It's mostly all up to you. Pick whichever question you wanna, I'll add some less serious ones, too
2. Add your question with a bit of background info
Example:
I used shufflemancy for your 3rd question, and I got the song X by Y so I think you should focus on having more fun :) I'm Sam and I want to know how does my coworker A.L feel about me. He's been giving me a weird look... thanks !
QUESTIONS YOU CAN PICK FOR ME:
1. What I need to focus on right now?
2. What's coming into my life during the next month ?
3. Will I ever date a celebrity?
4. How do irl people feel about my sense of fashion?
5. How does R.Z (my old friend I've lost contact with) feel about me?
6. Romance in general for the rest of this year
7. Do you sense anyone from the past coming into my life?
☆ This is for fun. Please don't ask medical questions. Will answer asap, but I'm also a busy person, so it might take around 3 days ☆

Tumblr media
Doughnuts And Doom GN -  Balazs Lorinczi
Being a teenage witch-or rock star-is tougher than it looks! Flying brooms and electric guitars set hearts aflame in this fantastically fizzy graphic novel. When Margot meets Elena, emotions run high, magic is in the air, and doughnuts... float? One is a stressed-out witch trying to get her potions business off the ground, the other is a struggling rock musician whose band is going nowhere. Neither of them are having a good time! No wonder things quickly escalate from words to literal sparks flying when they first meet. Could this be the start of a delicious new relationship... or is a bad-luck curse leading them to certain doom?
Tumblr media
Vanish #1 -  Donny Cates & Ryan Stegman
Oliver Harrison was a mythical hero who slayed the greatest threat to his realm before even hitting puberty. But that was then.

Art. 119 of the Family Code provides "whenever an amount or credit payable within a period of time belongs to one of the spouses, the sums which may be collected during the marriage in partial payments or by installments on the principal shall be the exclusive property of the spouse. However, interests falling due during the marriage on the principal shall belong to the conjugal partnership". (156a, 157a)
Meaning to say, if the person lends his friend a certain amount of money, with an agreement of 10% interest. When after the agreement the creditor married a woman, the sums to be collected from him friend to cover the capital, will be his exclusive property. However, the 10% interest to be collected during the marriage, will be included as part of the conjugal partnership.
On the other hand, Art. 121 of the Family Code provides, the conjugal partnership shall be liable for:
(1) The support of the spouse, their common children, and the legitimate children of either spouse; however, the support of illegitimate children shall be governed by the provisions of this Code on Support;
(2) All debts and obligations contracted during the marriage by the designated administrator-spouse for the benefit of the conjugal partnership of gains, or by both spouses or by one of them with the consent of the other;
(3) Debts and obligations contracted by either spouse without the consent of the other to the extent that the family may have benefited;
(4) All taxes, liens, charges, and expenses, including major or minor repairs upon the conjugal partnership property;
(5) All taxes and expenses for mere preservation made during the marriage upon the separate property of either spouse;
(6) Expenses to enable either spouse to commence or complete a professional, vocational, or other activity for self-improvement;
(7) Ante-nuptial debts of either spouse insofar as they have redounded to the benefit of the family;
(8) The value of what is donated or promised by both spouses in favor of their common legitimate children for the exclusive purpose of commencing or completing a professional or vocational course or other activity for self-improvement; and
(9) Expenses of litigation between the spouses unless the suit is found to groundless.
In the case of BA Finance Corporation Vs The Spouses of Augusto Yulo and Lily Yulo
FACTS:
In 1975, the respondent husband Augusto Yulo secured a loan from BA Finance Corp. in the amount of 500 thousands as evidenced by the promissory note he signed in his own behalf and as a representative of A.L Industries, the company under the name of his wife. He also presented an alleged Special Power of Attorney signed by his wife who manages and under whose name the company is registered. However, 2 months prior to the loan, he had already left his wife and children and abandoned their conjugal home. When the obligation became due and demandable, he failed to pay the same. This prompted BA Finance Corp. to file a complaint to enforce the obligation by the husband against his conjugal partnership with his wife.
ISSUE:
WON the conjugal partnership can be held liable in the obligation acquired by the husband
RULING:
The SC ruled that eventhough there is no doubt that the company was indeed part of the conjugal partnership, since it was actually established during the marriage. However, in order for the conjugal partnership to be held liable, the husband atleast contracted the said loan on the benefit of the conjugal property. Unfortunately, what was proven is that he contracted the loan for his personal gain as evidenced of his abandonement of his wife and children and their conjugal home.
Therefore, the conjugal partnership cannot be held liable pursuant to Art 121 of the Family Code and Art 161 of the Civil Code

1. Young Girls and Flying Images: A Semiotic Analysis of Hayao Miyazaki’s Animations. Journal of Visual Literacy, 33(2), pp.97–119. doi:https://doi.org/10.1080/23796529.2014.11674719.
This study thoroughly analyses the abundant imagery of several of Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films, from details of character design to shot composition to common themes within his vast body of work. All images created are purposeful, but this study maintains an endorsement of just how much thought Miyazaki has imbued into his final products. Notably is a consistent ability from various protagonists to flourish over the course of their respective films, which encourages me as an artist to highly prioritise character development. I appreciated this study highly for highlighting both how to identify which protagonist the director “speaks through” and how turning cultural expectation on its head can increase believability in a fantasy story.
2. Boydell, K.M. and Croguennec, J. (2022). A Creative Approach to Knowledge Translation: The Use of Short Animated Film to Share Stories of Refugees and Mental Health. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 19(18), p.11468. doi:https://doi.org/10.3390/ijerph191811468.
Accessibility is an excessively well-documented issue within academic circles. This study aims to utilise animation to prove narratives can make a difference in the health and social care industries. Utilising “narrative medicine” is shown here to be extremely useful in the dissemination of information. The study claims that stories—especially animated— increase empathy, literacy, and general knowledge by being more easily understood than peer-reviewed studies. It measures both quantitative and qualitative data collected from participants who watched multiple animated films about mentally ill people and refugees and claims a hugely positive reaction.
As an animator, I’m aware of how engaging my chosen medium can be, and how much of a difference that can make in changing minds, but seeing measured data on such a topic was immensely encouraging. Both in my MA work and any work I pursue afterward, I hope to provoke such a profound response.
3. Chess, S. (2016). The queer case of video games: orgasms, Heteronormativity, and video game narrative. Critical Studies in Media Communication, 33(1), pp.84–94. doi:https://doi.org/10.1080/15295036.2015.1129066.
As video games are a radically different medium, it makes sense that they would play by the rules of radically different narrative theories. This article utilises lines of thinking from queer and feminist circles and attacks the notion that preexisting theories centering around a single narrative climax would apply to video games. Eccentric phrasing aside, it certainly has a point that video games don’t always employ the same structure of a singular victory or catharsis that traditional stories such as books or films might.
While my creative focus in this graduate programme thus far has been on the scale of short films, I am very open to working in the gaming industry in the future. Having an open mind about what constitutes narrative pleasure sounds altogether instrumental to an ever-changing industry.

This essay is an analysis and academic mourning of what the feminist movement is and was, as well as how intrinsically linked it is with disappointment. Specifically, it focuses on the separatist beliefs commonly held by feminists of the 1970’s and their echoes on current-day feminism. At the core of both periods of the movement are themes of sexual unfulfillment, at the core of both the onus is somehow on the individual to fix the injustices of systematic oppression, and at the core of both there is emphasis on aesthetic remedies to the multifaceted problem of patriarchy. At the core of neither are universal fixes to said problem. Instead, it is to be taken that if feminism is to persist, its advocates in media must be aware of the pitfalls the movement has already experienced and avoid them, lest we talk each other in circles without much improvement.

The Rust Belt region of the United States has been rife with turbulence from the moment of its colonial settlement. As an American who grew up in that rapidly declining burrow of industry, I know this very well, but I admit my perspective is mostly limited to personal experiences and those of my family. This article explores the perspectives of people of color in the Rust Belt and how flawed the notion that it’s an overwhelmingly white area is; despite public perception, the census underreports the presence of BIPOC (black and indigenous people of color), and a massive chunk of the area’s culture is owing to what they have thanklessly contributed to it.
This was an extremely valuable read, because I’m planning to tell stories about the area in which I grew up in this programme, but reading these interviews granted me even more nuance.
6. Elman, J.P. (2020). Slothful Movements: Disability, Acceleration, and Capacity Feminism in Disney’s Zootopia (2016). Feminist Media Studies, pp.1–18. doi:https://doi.org/10.1080/14680777.2020.1855223.
As well-intentioned as the creatives behind Zootopia may have been, this article suggests there may have been a lack of oversight in some areas regarding true inclusion. The allegorical nature of the film in relation to themes of racism and sexism has been fairly well-received and is most likely not intended to be an utterly accurate critique, but the author argues that the lack of physical and social access the characters of the film experience is a glaring issue all on its own. The article claims that the emphasis on physical mobility being equated to social freedom unintentionally mirrors our society’s insistence that opportunities are now equal for all with no nuance, despite marginalised people of all kinds being held back from birth.
I definitely consider this a perspective to consider when writing my own stories; latent meaning matters regardless of intent.
7. ‌Gottesman, Z.S. (2018). The Rotoscopic Uncanny: Aku no Hana and the Aesthetic of Japanese Postmodernity. Animation, 13(3), pp.192–206. doi:https://doi.org/10.1177/1746847718799416.
The conversation regarding CGI and whether it nullifies 2D animation and practical effects in film has been a topic of fierce debate in recent years. Yet, this article announces, rotoscoping is back in the game. The uncanny technique has been around since the very beginning of the animation industry, but the author suggests it as the perfect addition to modern animated productions to capture the unease of a neoliberal capitalist system. This all relates to the production of the series Aku no Hama and its unnerving use of rotoscope, which the article refers to as a ghost of the past utilised perfectly.
My own experience of rotoscoping techniques is sadly limited, due to finding them creepy previously. However, I’m thoroughly considering the use of some in an upcoming project or two, just to see if it’s as consistently uncanny as the writer claims.
8. Mateos-Rusillo, S.M. and Gifreu-Castells, A. (2018). Transmedia Storytelling and Its Natural Application in Museums. The Case of the Bosch Project at the Museo Nacional del Prado. Curator: The Museum Journal, 61(2), pp.301–313. doi:https://doi.org/10.1111/cura.12252.
While the term “transmedia” is a moderately young one, the concept of it certainly isn’t, especially in gallery spaces. This piece first lays out how varied the definitions of the phrase are across the field, sticking to five key tenets of what constitutes transmedia storytelling—multiple mediums in which a narrative takes place, elaborating on the story while not being superfluous, each piece being easily digestible as a standalone, being overseen by an authority, and the dissemination of the narrative due to its popularity. The authors claim that museums have played into this notion for decades (think audio guides, pamphlets, texts accompanying art pieces), but are getting especially good at it now with ever-evolving technological advancements. Animation has been included in museum spaces for a while, but the open-mindedness of museums towards expansion has made it more possible than ever to meld the worlds of the physical and the digital.
9. Matthys, M., Laure De Cock, Mertens, L., Kobe Boussauw, Philippe De Maeyer and Van (2023). Rethinking the Public Space Design Process Using Extended Reality as a Game Changer for 3D Co-Design. Applied sciences, 13(14), pp.8392–8392. doi:https://doi.org/10.3390/app13148392.
Interestingly, this article informs that urban design processes remain mostly 2-dimensional despite there being 3D technology available and more accurate to a final product, due to stakeholders having a lack of experience with AR and the like. The authors argue that it’s a combination of public design being organised privately and distaste towards unfamiliar technologies that holds back the industry from its full potential. Afterwards, they present their research in VR technology being instrumental in creating an intuitive urban space, like with an animated bicycle being able to navigate a digital city.
Even as a primarily 2D artist, I don’t understand the logic in holding back from growing with advancements for the good of a community, and there’s certainly still space for 2D art in public design, extended reality or otherwise. This motivates me to try to be accepting towards new artistic developments and try some myself this programme.
10. van Rooij, M. (2019). Carefully Constructed Yet Curiously Real: How Major American Animation Studios Generate Empathy Through a Shared Style of Character Design. Animation, 14(3), pp.191–206. doi:https://doi.org/10.1177/1746847719875071.
The author of this article recounts much-beloved animated films of the past decade and posits that their effectiveness is in large part due to the designs of their characters, giving animated work its emotional credibility by invoking our sense of empathy. This stance is nothing new, but the article goes on to propose what it calls the “Pixar Peak”, the stark opposite to the uncanny valley phenomenon in earlier animated media (early 3D and rotoscoping) where a departure from reality paradoxically makes animated characters feel more real. Pixar coined and therefore holds the monopoly on a certain visual style: a calculated caricature that allows us to connect with a collection of simple shapes.
Influenced by Pixar both subconsciously and consciously, I find myself drawn towards these simple characters. I’ll try to keep it conscious in my design work this semester because of this article!
