1 Truancy
Part One - Part Two
At that private girl's school the teachers were not very aware. Or maybe, because the students were, generally, such goodie-two-shoes, it never occurred to them that a 5th grader might cut class. To my credit, the first time that I cut class? That was by accident. Things had not gone well at recess. I don't remember what exactly happened, but I was crying and angry didn't want to stay outside anymore. I went inside as if just going to the bathroom, but when I got to the bathroom I kept walking. It was a sunny spring day, nearly everyone in the school was outside. I could hear the noise from the playground, squeals, shouts, laughter and also the strange spidery echo the red bouncing balls made in the narrow alleyway in back. It was like the sound that The Bionic Man made when he jumped. But, inside? It was quiet. I peered into empty classrooms. Everything was still. Papers on the desks, coats and bags in the cubbies. The teacher's slim leather bag and next to it: a ring of keys. On an angry impulse I grabbed them.
When we'd prepared for the Christmas play we'd gone up to the attic to find costumes and supplies. Mrs. Nevens had even given me the keys once by myself so I could fetch an extra halo. The keys felt heavy and important. Going to the attic again sounded like a lovely idea. I made my way quickly to the 3rd floor by the "servant's stairs" (There weren't any "servants" at the school, but everyone called the smaller, more hidden staircase that for some reason. It always felt a little pretentious. The school was in an old red-brick building, like an overgrown house. ) I made my way past the music room. And the hallway lined with photos of each Senior class in white dresses for graduation. I unlocked the door to the attic stairs-- and then, still thinking fast, I ran all the way back to the 5th grade classroom and replaced the keys on Mrs. Neven's desk. As I ran back to the attic, I wondered if Mrs. Nevens would notice that the keys weren't in the same position. I imagined an investigation. Detectives would photograph the keys after placing a little numbered marker next to them. Evidence. I imagined a search party looking for me! The discrepancy in the placement of the keys would be their only clue. But, still wrestling with tears as I ran up the "servant's" stairs, I didn't care. There were so many keys on the ring, how could they guess which one I'd used? (It didn't occur to me that no one would notice that the keys were moved-- or that no one might notice that I was even gone at all!) I reached the attic and the darkness of the attic stairs! The door I'd unlocked closed behind me. Sudden panic. It had locked! (Later I would learn to use gum, and tape, and at long last key copying to make the attic less of a prison.) But, on that first time I was locked in. Part One - Part Two

Was going through some old stuff and found this little foldable journal thing I made in art class. I used one page to write about Brendan Fraser, my celebrity crush at the time. I was in 5th grade.

When I was in elementary school I was shipped by basically everyone with my best friend. This led to someone else who had a crush on my friend to hate my guts and spread rumors about me as well as actually threaten me. Like we’re in 5th grade? Wtf?

When I was in 5th, grade, my teacher told us she had a cat named Lucy, named after "I Love Lucy."
Then one day, she took the cat to the vet, only to find out it was a boy cat, so the name no longer made sense.
But she was like, "Welp, I guess that's his name now."
And when some classmates tried to laugh about it, she was like, "Do you want me to laugh at your name?" And it shut them up quick.
And that's the story of how my 5th grade teacher named her boy cat Lucy.

I have a 9:00 a.m. conference with an overbearing parent who has been messaging me all year wanting to know why her son gets bad grades in my class. She already knows all of her son's problems and is well versed in them. Every time we communicate I tell her he refuses to do any work in my class. He qualifies for special education and I don't know exactly what his needs are as far as his disabilities. I do know he is extremely smart but he behaves like a five-year-old and nothing anyone in the school can do will change that. He likes to run around the room and pretend he is a dinosaur. He is obsessed with Godzilla and has memorized every movie that you can imagine about any and every Godzilla movie ever made. And that's all he wants to do is talk about that. He will not do any work at all. When is mom is hold this she does his work for him at home which gives him zero motivation to work at school. He has lately begun to sleep all the way through my class wish I actually let him do because it is less distracting than him running around my class pretending to be a dinosaur. The head of the special ed Department said that she has already talked to the mom and the mom lets him stay up until all hours of the night and then that is why sleeps at school.
We have two months of school left not even that maybe about 5 weeks. I don't know what she wants me to do in the next 5 weeks that I have not done already because that kid will not work. No amount of coaxing or threatening or anything else is going to make him do anything in my class. Because of the anxiety over this I did not fall asleep until 12:30 a.m. last night and I was up at 5:00 a.m. this morning.

Over 2,200 characters. That’s how many faces & much more; I had to go through. I’m done collecting for all 36 stories. Any leftovers will be used for fan fics, side stories & whatever whenever. But those AI Generators helped a man out. I don’t have it in me to draw like I used to. Having these face collages makes it much easier for the worm hole to go directly to the sector of my mind; I need at the time. After every cast I released, came a heap load of ideas for the stories I never pieced together but those twists won’t be revealed. You’ll have to wait for the animated series for those. Having all those visuals stored in my mind, freeing up space; that’s real imaginative peace. 😌
PS, that was 160 characters (There’s a few litters in there, from twins to quadruplets.) in the story I chose to do last. It had the most out of all the stories I’ve previously drawn face collections for. I remember it like it was yesterday. I want to go to where they are… Tilkana, Achazi & Gilasha were first made for Mortal Kombat. Fifth grade, I’ll paint the from A to Z; I’m 39. So much lovely times in the fifth grade ignoring everything but my imagination. 🤙🏽🥳
