it was very kind of you to mention me in a tag like that! to add a small cherry to your sweet sundae as a thank you for the recognition, i'd like to let you know that normally only reblog the works of others to @3vocatio if i recognize an underlying whimsy & eccentricity as a pattern throughout their art (vagueness being distributed implies deeper understanding & perspectives of analysis that i enjoy being shown). you do that with your art! there's a lot of cute hidden details ♡
i'm unsure if this is a common theme for you but i adore that the range in your favorite obey me characters seem to be the ones who lie. and i don't mean lying in the way where you consciously conspire to spread them for sake of dissimulation, but the type of lying that takes the guise of things we unconsciously embrace, unknowingly and unwittingly. i really like seeing how much of that concept is found in your work, or perhaps i enjoy that you've taken a huge concept in obey me that is oftentimes ignored or, in most cases, undiscovered by the vast majority...
anyhow what i mean by that is how you seem to enjoy being deceptive towards your audience not out of maliciousness but a charming curiousity :] that's how i interpret it at least because i'd like to think that i'm the same way whenever i show my friends my art or writing kdnfckvks
here's a thought perfectly undissected for you: simeon and his relationship with rain. there have been too many instances where the story presents him with a rainy atmosphere and it would be a shame for it to go unnoticed for everyone else~ hopefully that serves as good food for you because i like nothing more than to share my love for other creators and serve them dinner ^^
i'm saying this in the nicest way possible, but this ask alone made me want to explode because i never been complimented nor considered to this extent and care that i spent a few minutes sincerely lost for words, but since i had school work to do, i couldn't reply back till now and even with extended time to react, i'm *still* just a pile of goo because hello????? hello????? 😭😭
so first, thank you for taking the time time to send this ask! second, as someone who tend to add details that are perhaps too small to notice (even subconsciously at times), and have a particular view on things, i'm just glad you had fun seeing them too !! it's good to know that we are both critical of diavolo (^▽^;) i understand that he means well, but he ultimately just harms everyone else when it comes to dragging them into his shenanegains & plans?? he lacks a deeper self-awareness which is dangerous for someone as powerful as he is. then again..i believe that many people are afraid to defy him, and rightfully so. after the season 1 fiasco where i'm certain he knew how the cards were going to play out i've kept an eye out for him; i don't hate him! i just think it's fascinating how the fandom plays off his actions that are machiavellian in nature, in spite of his puppy-ish outlook.
and with simeon..i hate the way the fandom directs "religious" jokes towards him? and make assumptions of him due to those factors just because he's from the celestial realm?? and i know that he's attractive but the way some people act so weird about him, even in live chats, puts me off in the wrong way. showing too much skin? making comments about skin color? his bare shoulders & back are "sinful"? bodies themselves aren't inherently sexual.. i dunno. it seems that a lot of simeon's character is stripped from him as a result of people only viewing him skin-deep. which..he'd definitely hate tbh
I felt the same way about Diavolo after the whole universe hopping incident. Calling him a himbo or anything of that assortment is a huge mischaracterization! He’s a great twist imo! He’s very joyful and playful one scene and the next he’s leading you to your death. My only issue is that his flaws aren’t addressed enough in the main story, but it’s not just him. It’s the entire big 3 (Diavolo, Lucifer and Barbatos) you could say Solomon is also in that group but he’s openly mocked so he’s not put on too much of a pedestal.
Now that you bring it up, Simeon is hyper sexualized in the fandom. I see people thirsting over him quite frequently. And while I think nobody is trying disrespectful with their comments, some of them definitely are. Simeon is not a goody two shoes, if they pray in the Celestial Realm he’s definitely skipping it to do something else. He was demoted, twice. He’s not your 60 yr old Christian grandma

the thought of barbatos beginning the official distrust of demons in solomon's case (other than asmo being asmo--i believe solomon might've seen him as a lost puppy rather than an actual threat to himself) is so interesting and i can't believe i haven't thought about it before! barbatos had already been tricked into a life-binding contract with diavolo, so making another life-binding contract shouldn't be something he was excited about, right?
barbatos & solomon act pretty distant towards each other, too. the new event where barbatos brushes off the fact that solomon is human, barbatos changing the subject when solomon asked if he mentioned him in one of the hard mode lessons, barbatos agreeing with solomon when the topic of pacts being purely business-related during solomon's birthday ur...
maybe you're onto something! although i'd also like to believe that there is some inkling of trust between the two, given that they witnessed each other at their most vulnerable(?). solomon was dying and barbatos was summoned when no one else should've been able to, given his status.
in my personal experience, twitter in general just isn't as fulfilling as tumblr is? i don't mean to scare you off of there, but the drama that goes on there within the obm fandom is in far greater quantity than on here ;; so much so, many people have been leaving the fandom there left and right. don't get me wrong, it's nice to be there for art & writing inspiration, but sometimes seeing an abundance of ignorance & constant bitterness doesn't bode well for your well-being.
to truly enjoy (obm)twt i feel like you'd just have to post self-indulgent things and you'll eventually gain your circle of people who also enjoy it? even then, the algorithm there can be horrendous to newcomers...
the premise is similar to any social media site, only that i highly encourage to not look as deeply within the fandom there unless you're very picky with who you follow and are prepared to block a fair amount of people. so far i think you've been doing great! spam-posting is something that can get other peoples' attention quicker, especially if you're someone they enjoy receiving content from. ^^ if you're seen to be enjoying yourself then i'm sure others will enjoy that too!
Hehe you're welcome! I think Solmare purposely left these things vague for our own interpretation. There's some conflicting information about Solomon and Barbatos actually, because if you recall S3 in the Serenity Manor, I high-key remember Barbatos saying he trusts Solomon hence why they have a pact (this is also the same scene where he friendzones MC hard haha). Then there's Solomon who also shares a group chat with Barbatos and Asmo called Invocatio where they seem to talk like good friends who care about each other.
Twitter in general just has that vibe, I think. I did own a Twitter two years ago, but I didn't really know how to use it. Things update so quickly, it was overwhelming for me so I deleted it. Thanks for looking out for me though! (If you're not comfortable for us to follow each other back, that's okay! I just thought you wanted a follow back since some people followed me but I don't know which one of them are you). I prefer using AO3 for my fics. Crossposting in Tumblr is tedious but I find it a lot more forgiving (albeit annoying because coding is my nightmare lmaoo).
I don't really participate in drama nor entertain it so I don't really know much, nor care to know much. The worst that happened to me in the few days I remade my twitter was a random person who said they liked the black-haired Solomon I personally commissioned from an artist better if he had white hair but that was easy to just hide, block and ignore. I've had worse (getting weird HC requests that forced me and my friend to put boundaries in our old request box, getting plagiarised more than once,etc etc). Frankly, I'm just here to love Solomon in peace (pun intended). He's hated more than enough in the fandom. I'd be more than happy to find the 10 people who appreciate him in the bird app though if I find the opportunity. xD

ayla sounds very intriguing on her own~ if she strives to be diplomatic as a result of holding no magical power, then is she an opportunist at heart? does she value the truth even in the face of danger, or would she rather stay quiet if it meant that peace would continue?
i ask this because i wonder if the spell she attempted was an attempt to prove something to everyone, or if she wanted to get to the bottom of something. i'd love to hear more!! :]
I put Ayla firmly in the chaotic neutral camp (along with Solomon tbh). She wants to save the world and change it for the better but she also wants the credit for doing that.
She has always had political ambitions and was discovered as a candidate for the exchange program in the first place because she'd applied to so many human world ones and had experience with Model UN-type work and had proven willing to learn from others and teach them in return.
She's altruistic but also a little naive. When she arrives in the Devildom and receives the warning that demons will be constantly trying to harm or take advantage of her, she manipulates Mammon into the pact without fully understanding what it means for either of them but believing it will keep her safe.
She does not trust Lucifer and believes Belphegor's claim that he is a human wrongfully imprisoned- even when she finds evidence suggesting otherwise. She visits regularly and falls for him. Even after the truth is out, she continues forging pacts with the brothers, determined to free him and help the family heal. She's not always selfish but can commit blindly and relentlessly to a cause she deems important. (She is aware of the risk when she stands between Lucifer and Beel, defending Luke but she also does not protest when Satan wants to make a pact with her *for the wrong reason.* So... a little of both?
The goal is somewhere between peace and progress- she gets along well with Diavolo, with that in mind and she relishes the idea of being the human who led to the three worlds finding not only harmony but reasonable, more common interactions- like peace talks about what benefits all of them and trading agreements- after all this time.
But then we get into the Ring incident. Ayla attempts bigger and grander things with her once dormant abilities and finds these spells effortless because she is pulling magic from the universe itself without giving anything of herself in return. It's partly due to limited training and misunderstanding of the concept but it has terrible ripple effects. She's discovered to be the cause of this destruction around the time she suffers a personal tragedy (her sister escapes a cult around the same time their father dies).
Ayla is sent back to the human world in hopes that being around fewer temptations and with less access to dark magic and artefacts, she will heal and remember her goals outside of the power she needs to stop abusing.
She's a very angry, scared, and vulnerable young human when she attempts something truly selfish. It's my head canon that even though Belphegor is free to rejoin the family after the Lesson 16 incident (Ayla was not the victim but she did feel close to him and felt guilty for still being in love with Belphie even after that), there was magic in place to keep Belphegor from leaving the Devildom in a way that even a summoning could not easily override. Ayla attempted it anyway. She caused another earthquake and severely hurt Belphie (as well as Beel, who felt the effects through their telepathic link).
It was a desperate moment halfway between the need to prove herself and just wanting to feel loved and safe and as though fixing everything was possible- because she technically did that once by bringing Belphie back to his brothers and helping them reconnect and forgive him in the first place?
The Ring of Light has helped restore her magical and emotional balance. She is healing but that relationship will take much more time and it seems Ayla will always prioritize her ambitions and even her impulses.

going off of the comment section of the dialogue post: that's what i meant! you know what you want the mc to say, but how they're going to convey it is something that needs a bit more thought if you want to get it right (for me at least)
i like that you're making dola treat the mc like a roommate rknfvsk that's so much more simple than [godtongue]'s reasoning; her's is the epitome of schrödinger's cat.
there's more on that in our dms but ANYWAYS if it helps, the product of the dialogue mostly served as self-indulgence for [godtongue]'s romantic interest with a lot of platonic jabs. so instead of having mc in the picture, i just imagined it wasn't them lol. for you, you could very much imagine solomon or satan in the place of dola if you wanted :o the roommate idea tickles at my brain tho
I'm really simple honestly I just don't have the brain power or spoons to make things more complicated for myself even if I wanted to >.> Having Dola treat MC like a roommate they're on good terms with but one doesn't see as a close friend tickles just the right spot for this writing exercise/game >w<
Tbh I initially considered writing Dola's lines as though she were talking to Solomon or Satan but actually doing it didn't feel right? Like... MC getting the same kind of treatment from Dola that Satan and Sol would get??? MC doesn't deserve it dsfhgksjdfghf especially when I think about the canon main story MC... Ugh...
So MC gets the amicable roommate treatment LMAO and lines referring to Satan and Sol just hint that they're close I guess, if we're really pretending that Dola's an NPC in the game and the rest are all smitten for MC >.> The minimum respect MC gets is that at least with Dola, she's actually talking to them >w<

1. Much Character And Development (Very Cool!)
Solomon is an immortal sorcerer. So, he's not a demon or angle. He's different like that, a bit quirky if you will.
He's lived a long time. He's very lonely. The RAD program was finally a place where he could find his found family. Doesn't that make you feel bad? Don't you think he deserves more love to compensate for his very much lonely life? I am guilt tripping you, you are being held at gunpoint, MC...

hehe, the way you answered reminds me a lot of diavolo (this isn't meant as a jab at you)! he, too, struggles with delving deeper into what a lot of interpersonal relationships mean and how people interact, really? he may not look it, but he often wonders about morality and what he should do next. it's why he gets frustrated with simeon--he doesn't understand him, and simeon doesn't lay the cards out for him. people like simeon and solomon also perplex him ^^

I definitely agree! I try not to get too upset at the fanon works of Solomon because I know must of it is due to being stuck in the first 40 lessons and a lack of exposure.
I’m definitely not offended at the comparison! I’m very critical of Diavolo but I do really like his personality, and his struggles make sense. I love love loooove his dislike/distrust for Simeon.
Don’t get me started on how the fandom sees Simeon!

i personally interpret diavolo's tendency to “avoid lying” as nothing more than an underlying demonic way of being evasive and redirecting the attention away from himself, even if he isn't aware of it. i don't believe he means to act this way, but given his upbringing i can't help but think that this is the life he's always known, and no one has shown him otherwise. even the person who actively committed treason against him, belphegor, failed to see why he was initially uneasy with diavolo, and eventually grew to become tolerant of him. he has so much power that isn't only tied to his position and title and i think this is something that people fail to address often, although i cannot fault them for it. as you said, the initial impression that diavolo makes on new players is a positive one compared to others like solomon.
i enjoy the subtlety between the obm casts' traits as well—dissecting them and thinking of how i can incorporate them into the content i make is the same as playing around with my friends' genshin artifacts to see how i can come up with the best outcome, lolol ^^ even if i dislike an obey me character for how they compose themself or their beliefs, i still do my best to bring justice to them, you know?
solomon viewing the demons as “toys” in the official chart is something that is kind of correct? the devs seemed to be setting up a stereotypical view of him without diving too deep into how he actually views them. i'm not sure if you're aware of the b-log translations, but solomon stated that he'd be happier if the people around him were smiling compared to him being happier on his lonesome, and i think that might include demons as well. in another b-log translation, he mentions that he'd be willing to make pacts with every demon if the devildom were to disappear, and i couldn't help but think to how he puts humanity first and foremost.
from my point of view, one reason why he's made so many pacts was to ensure the safety of the human realm. making so many pacts means that he is in control of a huge threat, because he cannot trust demons to uphold their “vow” of peace. he seems to have mellowed out with the influence of mc's interactions with demons, but it's nice to see how strongly he holds onto his beliefs regardless.

Ooh! That's an interesting way to look at it. Either way, there's definitely some strange inconsistencies with his character. I really like him. He shares a lot of parallels with Solomon and Lucifer, but I also feel like his character development is very fragmented. The route system could have benefited his development greatly rather than the speed dating, reverse harem joshimuke setup we're getting now.
(Spoiler for main story and B's log content + some brief biblical references below)
I actually meant to say the Solomon in the main story now is heavily implied to not feel that way anymore. He's definitely a lot less guarded now, and like you said, he doesn't feel a need to make this barrier between him and the demons anymore because MC held his hand and pulled him away from that barrier and made him actually go past it and see the demons as friends. I follow the B's log updates too and Solomon had been consistently shown to showcase a lot of selfless traits. Never jealous, chooses his own battles, and someone who had really lived up to his name and became the peace his name was meant to symbolise. It's still pretty consistent with Solomon's considerate nature even in the earlier main story. It's just the circle of the people he cared about had widened. He had literally allowed himself to feel alive again, and the thought of that is just so painful and so beautiful and now I'm internally crying because THIS MAN IS SO LONELY I WANT TO HUG HIM. Him prioritising humanity is actually something I mentioned in the reblog on cypherleaf's post. He mentioned it around S2--and even admitted that to MC.
The Solomon we have now is actually a lot closer to his biblical counterpart--famous for being branded a wise fool who became shortsighted and threw away his blessed wisdom for love (or lust depending on the books or apocryphal texts you're reading).
Actually! Hear me out but what if, that desperate moment, where he was almost on the verge of death and summoned Barbatos (S4 or S3 I think?)was a seed that might have possibly sown that distrust he possibly had with demons?

and your mc 'unknowingly' kept a sloth little d as a pet? do they know it's a little d, or do they see it as a strange, magical little cat? makes me very curious as to what their relationship with belphie is, too! it's clear that he cares for them, but i wonder how that came to be...
I haven't made my way through all of your writing yet but you are very talented and, yes, sweet and I love how you are adding so much to the OM world with your original ideas and characters- (Godtongue especially intrigues me)!
My MC Ayla is ambitious (derogatory), eager for power and to prove herself, and prone to making mistakes and bad, even selfish decisions along the way. In the AU I share with @dcvilgrams, she is one of three human exchange students and the only one without any natural affinity (or even a tiny bit of skill) for magic. She tries to be important as a political influence instead.
By Season Two, Solomon discovers that Ayla's powers have always existed but been dormant and are now beyond her control. She attempts a spell she has no business doing and that leads to Belphie wanting to break off their relationship but it's not just because of the pact they still feel so closely connected.
The Little D is named Woodas. He is disguised as a little boy cat and more than happy to follow Ayla home and report to Belphie occasionally about how she's doing and ensuring she doesn't go too far. As far as she knows at first, he's just a really weird cat- which led to some hilarious Devilgram posts because she sees an orange cat but the demons see a Little D attempting the Long Cat pose or getting kissed on top of the head. I'm working up to writing a kind of redemption arc but "Mister Noodles" the "cat" is along for the ride regardless.

i have yet to code a new theme for myself, but as of rn i've gone with a ominous-type banner to go with my ghibli-themed pinned message for an air of dissonance. maybe you could do something similar with hotel sowls and a lighter dola theme like in the rain world picture i sent? unless that's too dark.. when you say dola theme, do you mean like the theme you had before you had the one you have now?
maybe something like hollow knight?
anyways, context for the little creature i initially sent! he's a wizard from the notorious wizard maze quiz that has 126 questions. it drove me insane but it was fun nonetheless!!
I don't even remember what I had before I went with this really simple theme hgjkdf >.>;;; I definitely don't plan on going through the trouble of coding something from scratch (my most beloathed class ever...) but at the very least I want the vibes to match up a little more on my blog v the posts. I still find the contrast between my theme v my posts to be funny but also now I'm looking for a fresh breath of air since I now just associate a lot of Ugh memories with this theme + icon...

is it a matter of simply not being able to find the right words to describe how you feel about solomon? i really don't mind listening! i can talk about the other characters, too--i don't nearly see as much character discussion going on here compared to when the fandom was a lot smaller, haha ^^;;
I think I just find him very complexing, he’s very subtle with his feelings. I’ve never been good with picking up with subtlety, but I think that’s why I like him so much. He has tons of interesting qualities about him, I wanna learn more about him. He challenges my way of looking at interpersonal relationships. I also really like his design lol
I’ve seen a couple people in my feed discussing Asmo (more so to do with how the devs treat him but it’s still a good post about Asmo’s character)

as a response to your comment, don't be afraid to talk about solomon just because other people seem to have a greater grasp on who he is! everyone is entitled to their own perspective & view of the characters, and maybe you might spark some new inspiration & discussions with how you view certain things!! i love to talk about the characters regardless of what other people may think :,)

you might remember this since i believe you've been around obm tumblr since the first season was released, but i recall that only a handful of individuals (including myself) had done in-depth analyses on solomon even though season two had barely ended. ever since then i've always become ecstatic to see other players who have similar views on solomon as i do, but i also understand that i will never be satisfied with how the majority view this silly sorcerer </3 the bouts of lore i have stashed away in my head for him is phenomenal
because although there are many instances of him being so soft & vulnerable with us, there are also those who view him similarly as the newer players despite them being caught up in the main story; i believe that their love for everyone else in the cast (mostly concerning the demons) will override how they view him.
this isn't something that i'm terribly upset by of course, but i can't help but think back to when i had to point out numerous key points about solomon to older players in order for them to see more things clearly, which is fine! but it only makes me wonder just how influenced people can become depending on what their favorite characters think of someone else.

You're right. I've been an OM player since a few days after launch, but due to...uhh reasons (which my readers in AO3 and fellow writer friends love to meme on. It's easy to figure out "the reason" if you've seen my works in AO3 haha.), I was not able to show my love and appreciation for Solomon until now.
Isn't it so cool? Most of the Solomon lovers I know know so many nuggets of information about him which is so amazing, so cool and so so very sexy of us ;) /s. Truth be told, Solomon wasn't always my favourite character (though he is one of the characters I liked). I had been a Satan stan around I think 2-3 months of playing until I got to know more about Solomon.
(my ramblings about Solomon under the cut. It's uhh...very long haha;;)
I would have to be honest. I was not prepared to see how much hate this man had gotten from the fandom starting out. I get it. He was really rude in 2-2 which might have soured his first impressions with most beginners. This, along with the vagueness and inconsistencies of his character in the first lessons + Lucifer's own commentaries in Main Story Normal Mode 2-2 didn't help. He also had very strange ways of showing he's looking out for us in the earlier lessons.
Do you remember when he showed the password to enter Leviathan's room to us "accidentally" on the earlier lessons? Also when he lent us a super valuable collector's item (the necklace) from the TSL series that EVEN LEVI doesn't own? No one was talking about it (most people might have chosen to speak with Simeon instead), and the few people who did were being overpowered by the "shady sorcerer", "haha main villain", "who are the real demons" jokes in the fandom before.
I actually had a brief moment in time when I kinda didn't like Diavolo because he was so woobified in the fandom despite doing so much "shadier" things (with the Angel event being the worst thing he did imo around that time I had that phase) along with Barbatos (And Simeon iirc) compared to when Solomon just breathes and everyone is like "Wow he's so shady!" And I'm like wow??? The man didn't even do anything?? Give him a break!!
And you are right. I think that's likely the reason why--even with context, even if all evidences and devilgrams have expounded on Solomon's character and disproved all these "shady sorcerer" memes and whatnot, some endgame players still think differently. And honestly, I can't fault them. Even as a Solomon stan, I'm guilty of overlooking some things about other characters because I'm too busy enjoying all the little things about my favourite and that's okay. It's valid but it's sad, ig?
I think one other factor that might have influenced the hate he got is how late he got introduced as a romanceable. He's a human! He has pacts! Some MCs may have seen him as a "rival" for their favourite demon(or Simeon)'s affections. By the time he became romanceable and more of these tiny little things we already noticed about him in the first and second season became more obvious, it's too late. Opinions were already formed. The fanfic and fanart community already have a "set character" for him/their own HCs--a collective conscious of sorts where a character's portrayal may not be accurate to canon, but that's what the fandom already thought of them so people who enter the fandom would inevitably have preconceived notions about him that are around the same wavelength. Just look at poor Diluc at Genshin Impact. He's also getting the same treatment. :(
Haha! Yeah, I tend to keep to my close set of mutuals. I initially made this account around last last year(?) to crosspost my CYOA and nothing else but got attached.
