My hair is 3A, I think medium porosity, maybe thinner strands at least than my partner's hair. I get it all wet and do some gentle hand detangling to get it soaked, use a bit of the shampoo (Garnier Whole Blends Repairing Shampoo, Honey Treasures), rinse out. Then I usually run the bath and do a lot of careful detangling and brushing using the flat brush and fine-tooth comb, and I have an idea where my large strands usually are. Then I work in a small amount of the conditioner (R+Co Television Perfect Hair Conditioner), which I really don't need much of, which is awesome because I used to have to use so much conditioner. I make sure the strands (6 to 10 on both sides of my head) are all nice and brushed and squish the conditioner in the strands and brush it all out, by that point its squeaky but not greasy. Work in water, keeping it discrete.

Then after getting out of shower I take all the carefully aligned strands and work in a very small amount of leave-in conditioner (Cantu argan oil leave in conditioning repair cream), and again using the fine comb and my Denman brush and fingers to keep it aligned. I might separate it slightly to be more like 10 or so strands on either side, it is a tricky process but I am familiar with how my hair strands gravitate. What's important is doing it before hair starts to dry because I want zero frizz if possible, I gotta account for all of my hair.

Then I get out of the bathroom and just walk around shirtless all day lol until it dries, and I'm careful not to touch it.

And then it's usually a week until I need to wash again! But if it ends up being more like 2 or 3 weeks, eh whatever spoons are hard

After a day I might scrunch the curls a bit if the leave-in left it hard in any place, or separate further, but honestly just sleeping and existing will do that as well

I cut off most of my hair.

It felt freeing, it took real restraint not to just cut it all.

I have 3b type hair and tbh Idfk how to take care of it, or what damaged ends look like. I just cut anything that looked stringy.

I dont know how to feel. Its been awhile since my hair was this short.

I want hair down my back but i cant figure out how to keep it healthy and help it grow.

why tf are textures hair products so fucking expensive. i'm about to just go buy oils meant for cooking and immersion blend them into the consistency of conditioner

Having textured hair i’ll be like “man i hate my hair” and then realize the only reason i hate it is because of unfair beauty standards that are centered around whiteness and a lack of any notable ethnic features.

Mmmgm I’m thinking abt buying those big headphone things, but i have curly hair (3b) does anyone know how I can avoid frizz 😓??

thinking about jay ferin having her father's red hair, but her mother's curls because she doesn't fit the mold of being a ferin in the way her sister did. she's a pirate, first of all-- she never becomes the navy icon she was meant to, but she still has that lingering loyalty that comes from family. she's caught between her rebellion and her love for her family and i love how her alignment isn't black-and-white.

Headcanon idea for anyone else who draws Jay with curly or wavy hair:

If you're drawing him in Dragons Rising, draw them with less volume in their hair than usual

For curly/wavy hair to keep its volume, it generally has to be pretty well taken care of. Or at the very least, washed frequently and brushed out.

With Jay being in the administration, he probably doesn't have the time or energy for that
