November 18, 1939.

"C'mon, cupcake." Bucky whined as he followed his wife into their shared room. "Please, just, please let me see your bones." He then grimaced at the sound of that and Y/N just chuckles, putting her fist up and the the bone spikes where unsheathed.

Bucky grins like a little boy who saw ice cream, and ear to ear grin. His bright blue eyes scanning her knuckles as the two bone spikes are out. The odd beauty of his amazing wife's mutation always fascinated him, and always will.

He looked up at her and she lets her bones return inside of her body, his arms wrapped around her waist and he nuzzled into her shoulder. Her warm embrace, something he could never get sick of.

"Barnes, what are you doing?" Y/n Questioned as her husband was clinging to her, her just grins as he peppered soft and delicate kisses on her shoulder.

"Will you ever stop callin' me by my last name, doll?" He chuckles and kisses her cheek, moving to fully look at her.

Y/n raised her eyebrows, and giggles lightly. Her giggles was just something he could never get sick of as well. He truly, truly was a lovesick puppy to his dear and enchanting wife.

"Never."

"Oh you stubborn ass."

She lets out and over-exaggerating gasp, pulling away and putting her hand over her chest.

"I am no ass!" she sassed, and backed up slightly.

Bucky immediately pouted, he walked up to her and said in a sad voice.

"Don't go away..."

It wasn't sad, it was a whine, actually. I whine of 'I am partially sorry but I want snuggles'

Y/n giggles and pushed him away, earning a very, very loud groan from his throat. He puffed out his cheeks, and pouts. Y/n raised her eyebrows and giggles, moving her soft hands on to his cheeks and lightly pinched them, earning a soft 'Hey!' from him.

"Aren't you just a big baby." Y/n teases in a soft voice, all Bucky did was pout even more, he wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her up.

"James!-" She squealed and he held her bridal style, the same way he carried her out of the church after they got married right when she turned 18. All he did was give the biggest and goofiest grin as he carried her to their shared room.

"Awe look at my beautiful wife. Being carried like a big baby" He teased and tossed her body on the bed, then he caged her in by pinning her waist to the bed.

"Your an ass, you know that?" His voice was silky, yet husky. She didn't let that godly voice affect her. She just rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out.

"I'm your ass." She giggles and right then and there Bucky just collapsed on her, his face on her stomach and his body between her legs.

He sighed in content and smiles into he warm, soft and silky flesh. He could smell her sweet perfume, he couldn't get enough of the soft vanilla. He nuzzled into her stomach more, earning soft laughs from his wife.

"Your so pretty..." He mumbled.

"Your too flattering."

Her Y/e/c eyes shined with admiration, and undeniable love. Yes, even though they got married right when they both were 18, they truly loved each other more than anything.

December 25th, 1944.

It was the only time that Bucky, and Y/n got free time from the war. So, for Christmas, they went to walk down the quiet streets of London. He had his arm around her waist as they waked.

It was silent, but sometimes, words weren't needed for them to exchange. The only sound that could be heard was the soft sounds of her heels, his boots, and their dog tags.

She had her head on his shoulder and he had his head on hers. After a bit they sat down at a random park bench, he still had his arm around her waist.

"Jamie?" Y/n asked softly, it was something she had on her mind, her mind a lot. He looked down at her, waiting for her to say whatever she wanted patiently. His steel blue eyes, were soft and patient.

"When...When this war is over..." She started then looked down, then up.

Her voice was soft, fragile and tender as she whispers.

"What if we started a family..?" Once Bucky heard those words he smile and turned fully, he puts his left hand on her soft, and delicate cheek. His eyes are watery, watering from the idea of having a family.

A little one...A son...or daughter. His child.

All he did was press his lips on hers, their lips softly dancing on each other. She melted into his touch, happily kissing him. The feeling of having his lips on hers will forever be euphoric to her. The way he made everything bad melt away, and made her feel like the most important thing.

She needed no words, she knew he wanted this just as much as she did. Their own family.

Oh if only they knew their future.

January 14th, 1945.

It was the day the Howling Commandos conducted the raid on the Arnim Zola's train to capture the scientist.

All of the men, and one woman, looked at the rocky landscape. Steve and Bucky where looking at the wire and the train tracks as the rest readied their weapons, radios and other things.

"Remember when I made you ride the Cyclone at Coney Island?" Bucky asked Steve as his eyes where focused on the train tracks.

"Yeah, and I threw up?" Steve responded as he looked at the rough terrain. "And how Y/n had to carry me?" Steve added on and turned to Bucky.

"This isn't pay back, is it?" Bucky asked, still looking at the train tracks and Steve chuckled as he looked up to the wire that would be used to get onto the train.

"Now why would I do that." Steve said half-jokingly and Y/n rolled her eyes playfully.

"Because it's something you would do." She retorted.

"We were right, Doctor Zola is on the train." One of the men that Y/n never learned to learn the name of said.

The three men were talking, but Y/n didn't hear, or even register anything.

She had a pit in her stomach forming, a dark and deep pit. Something bad was about to happen, but she didn't know what it was.

One of the other Howling Commandos looked through his binoculars and saw the train coming at them.

"Lets get going, because they are moving like the devil." one of the men said through his accent.

Y/n nodded at the men and walked over to grab her rifle.

"We only get about a 10 second window, you miss it we are bugs on a windshield." Steve said firmly, his mask on, and he readied his grip on the handle. Y/n nodded as the men said some other things, and once the men motions its time to go, Steve zipped away. Bucky readied himself as well and zipped off, with Y/n right behind him.

Steve, Bucky, Y/n and the man she knew as Gabe all zipped away, and once they were about the same angle as the train they all jumped down.

The four all carefully walked along the top of the train, Bucky looked over to his wife and gabbed her hand and pulled her in front of him.

Once Steve found the spot to crawl down, he got onto the ladder and opens the door. Gabe perched and had his gun readied as so did Y/n. She looked down at Bucky and nodded encouragingly, still having the pit in her stomach.

Once the two men were inside, Gabe motions for Y/n to join them. She nodded and crawled down, and got inside. Bucky closed the door and she readied her gun. Bucky had his gun in hand and they saw the crates, and how compacted the small area was. They started walking forward, the wedded couple both with their gun in their hands.

Steve had a small pistol in his right hand and his shield on his left, he saw the small doorway and looked between Bucky and Y/n and the hallway. And they continued on, right when Steve walked into the other room a door shut, locking Bucky and Y/n out from Steve.

Y/n's and Bucky's heart rate increased, but Y/n felt her heart drop and adrenaline start to pump heavy in her veins, out of habit she rested her gun, the strap preventing it from falling, and unsheathed her two bone spikes from her knuckles and the two spikes on her elbows, the elbow spikes she never really used until recently during combat.

The two immediately turned around and saw HYDRA agents and Bucky started shooting at them and Y/n engaged in hand to hand combat, using one of her elbow spikes and shoved it through one of the men's skull.

As Steve was dealing with the advanced robot, Bucky was shooting the men Y/n wasn't able to get to.

One of the men walked up to Bucky's small hiding area, Bucky used his pistol and started shooting him as Y/n fought the last man.

Steve used the blaster of the robot he then stunned and shot the door, only destroying one. He ran to the small window and saw Bucky shooting the man with his pistol. Eventually he shot all his ammo and sat back on the wall, in defeat as he breathes heavily.

Steve somehow got the door to open and threw Bucky his pistol. Once Bucky caught it, Steve charged through and used his shield and his momentum to push the crate back, causing the Agent to move so Bucky got the perfect time to shoot him and he did.

And if that wasn't any more of a perfect time, Y/n finally killed the last man.

"I had him on the ropes..." Bucky muttered.

"I know you did." Steve retorted and they turned around when they heard the warming up of the robot.

"Get back!" Steve yelled as he jumped in front of Bucky and pushed him out of the way, using his vibranium shield to deflect the blast. The powerful beam caused part of the train walls to get destroyed.

'FIRE AGAIN, KILL HIM NOW!'

Bucky grabbed Steve's shield, and used his pistol to shoot at the robot. The robot sent another blast to Bucky, causing him to fall out. In the split second he grabbed onto a small, and almost broken bar.

"JAMES!" Y/n screamed then turned around as Steve immediately got up. And in that quick second the robot gave a powerful blast to Y/n's body, shooting her out of the train.

Bucky saw all of it, his wife...his beautiful wife falling off and on a rock spike from the rocky terrain, impaling her delicate body, the body he used to trace at night

The woman, even with her healing factor would surely die. With just plain bones, she couldn't withstand the injuries of her whole entire body being impaled. Her body got small into the distance but he saw her blood, her dark, cherry red blood seeping into the rocks and her organs falling out of her body.

Steve used his shield to destroy the robot and jumped out of the train and onto the side.

"BUCKY!" He yelled as he saw his friend holding on for dear life. He carefully climbed to Bucky and yelled again. "HANG ON!"

Bucky tried getting closer, but he couldn't. The bar started breaking a bit.

"Grab my hand!" Steve yelled and the bar broke even more. "NO!"

And just like that.

James Buchanan Barnes, and Y/n Laura Howlett. His two best friends...gone.

The screams, their screams will forever be etched into his mind.

What could have been, will be on his mind.

How he could have been and uncle to the child they always wanted.

How all those years, he still waited for them to have their own little one.

Now it was all a dream.

Modern AU! Bucky Barnes x Female reader

Bucky finally got back from his tours in Ukraine, and finally away from the cold grips of HYDRA, but he isn’t the same…and he found solace in the comforts of his old Lieutenant.

TW ⚠️⚠️: this contains details of Panic attacks, puke, blood, brain matter, organs and overall there is a lot of gore mentioned in his memory.

He woke up with a gasp, choking on the air, the air felt dry, and desert like. He lets out a few choked sobs and he sat up from the floor, his dog tags shimmering in the pale moonlight.

He had just gotten home, he had finally returned from hell.

He read on his dog tags, the hot tears falling from his baby blues made his sight foggy…

All the memories of the war weren’t pleasant, they never were…

But for Bucky Barnes? It was worse

He was on a raid in one of the towns in the country to which the name he doesn’t bother to remember. There was a train, and while he and his men, and one woman, tried to interfere…

He fell onto the tracks and the train severed his left arm off. But his men couldn’t get back to him since they were on the train.

But one of the terrorist groups, HYDRA, found him and took him in to torture him and get information. after months, and months, hell maybe even years, of torture they realize nothing is coming out of his mouth. So, they boot him in the cold terrain of the mountains of Ukraine.

But then his savior, the only person that never gave up on looking for him. His Lieutenant, Y/n Y/l/n. His girl.

After she finally got him back at base they got him a prosthetic arm, one he utterly hates.

While Bucky got medically discharged, his girl was still fighting in the relentless war. And he hated himself for that.

‘What if I never fell of the stupid train? What if I was there with her? Is she hurt? Is she dead?’

All ran through the poor man’s mind as he rocked himself, his now longer hair slight moving with the movements he made.

His nose was stuffy, so he couldn’t breath from his nose.

‘I cant fucking breathe! I feel like I’m underwater again!’

He screamed mentally as he tried to breath, his heart was beating irregularly fast and his stomach hurt.

He nuzzled his head onto his knees and rocked back and forth like a baby trying to find comfort.

As if a instant snap happened, it stopped. The crying stopped but his heart was still quick.

But the memories of the blood, squirting all over the place, the blood of many men on his hands, the dark cherry red liquid. How he had brain matter on his hands, all of the organs pooling out of his mens stomachs after HYDRA brutally murdered them.

Bucky quickly stood up and ran to the bathroom and puked, the stomach acids and his bile all flowing from his mouth.

The sour, and rotten taste filled his mouth, causing him to puke more and more.

He sobbed, he sobbed and piled as he remembered the taste of a innocent woman’s blood and brain matter squirted into his mouth from when he killed her.

He couldn’t stop it felt like, the puke flowing from his mouth. Their wasn’t much to his puke, mostly water and some chunks of Chinese take-out from Natasha and Steve.

After a few minutes he stood up and flushed his puke down the toilet and walked to his counter and grabbed his toothbrush and started to brush his teeth, visibly harshly.

Blood started to seep through his gums, he let out a army yell as he looked at himself in the mirror.

He looked nothing like himself, long hair, dark eye bags, scars, missing arm was the most obvious, and the replacement with his prosthetic made him want to puke even more.

But he didn’t.

He walked back to his room and saw it was 4:28 AM.

He had been sobbing and puking for three hours, that wasn’t good for him. He knows it.

He sighed and sat down but his phone started to go off.

He grabbed the phone tiredly and saw;

He reluctantly answered and huffed out.

“Hello?”

His voice was hoarse and he grimaced.

“Sergeant James Barnes?”

The feminine voice said on the other line, Bucky’s heart immediately dropped as his mind went straight to Y/n.

Y/n and Bucky put each other down as emergency contacts, he had Steve and Sam as his but…Y/n had nobody, all her family had passed away and she had no friends she trusted that much.

So Bucky became the one person.

“Uh- Y-yes this is James Barnes…”

“Hello sir, you are Lieutenant Y/n Y/l/n, correct?”

Bucky was terrified, but calmly he tried saying.

“U-uh Yeah.”

“Okay, Mrs. Y/l/n has been found severely injured and is getting medically discharged. Do you think you could pick her up at the John F. Kennedy airport this evening?”

He can finally see her. See his girl. He smiled and instantly said.

“Yes ma’am. Is she alright?”

“She was shot several times in the stomach and chest, she requires harsh physical therapy.”

All Bucky could do, was nod and the woman finally said.

“Alright, thank you and good bye.”

She hung up and Bucky jumped up, even though it’s now 4:45 AM, he wanted to get ready. And it was likely she would stay with him, so he had to get his apartment ready…right?

Y/n had her arms over one of the flight attendants shoulder as she held onto him, the male flight attendant helped her off the plain and the other female attendant got her wheelchair.

They helped more partially because she had her full dress uniform on, and she was an terrifying woman.

But, they got her in the wheel chair and helped her inside.

“I can handle my self now, thank you.”

The dressed woman said to the attendants and they bowed and walked away. Y/n wheeled herself to baggage claim and down to the outside of the airport and she saw him.

Her boy. Bucky.

Hiii! This is going to be a slow-ish burn. And it’s going to be fun!!
