The Pure RNG Hetalia Showdown (FAQ)

Over the next couple weeks, I will run a series of polls where you have to vote for canon Hetalia characters.

Poll Results Summary has now been posted, to summarize the results of the round robin and report on the Congeniality qualifiers.

Also, a new Tumblr sideblog @hetalia-rng-showdown has been created to host future RNG tournaments!

What are we voting on?

You can pick your favourite, a contender, a dark horse, an underdog, or go pure chaos and see what happens. This will ultimately end up becoming a popularity contest, since all the Hetalia polls so far have been swamped with people just picking their favourites, but why don't you all try something different for once and see what happens?

How will this work?

The round robin will have 10 different polls, each with 7-8 different characters, lasting a week. After the week, the 10 winners will come together into a final showdown poll.

If there is a tie in any of the round robin polls, there will be a 24-hour tiebreaking poll. See the full description in the section below.

Runners-up in the round robin poll might be selected for the Congeniality Showdown poll. See the full description in the section below.

I plugged the 78 names into this random number generator website, which split them up into 10 groups of 7-8 characters.

For extra randomness, I clicked the "Rerun" button twenty times. That's why this is the "RNG" poll, it's pure luck who your fave is up against!

Why is my favourite minor character up against so many mains? Can't you fix this?

And funny you should mention skewing the group selections, because my friend was just trying to conduct her own set of polls. The axis/allies would've all knocked each other out in the first round, and some of your favourite minor characters would've actually moved on for once. But some people complained about the choices of minor characters and their groupings, even going so far as to insult her personally...

So guess what, you're getting this poll series instead out of spite! Congratulations, your favourite minor characters are all in the polls, their groupings are purely random, and every character has a 10% chance of being up against Romano in the first round!

But what if I don't want my fave to lose to Romano in the first round?

Finally, a good question. When you find that poll, vote for your favourite and not for Romano, then reblog the post and tell all your friends to vote the same as you! Make sure you're a united force though, Romano only needs the one extra vote if you're all divided.

Don't worry about spamming my notifications with reblogs, I want to see that the polls are being shared, just be respectful in your tags please.

When can I see who's all in the groups?

You'll find out when I post the polls, as this FAQ post is going up before I even run the RNG. EDIT: The RNG has now been run, the polls are all drafted and scheduled, and the first is live! Links to all 10 polls will be added at the top as their posts are posted!

As for timing, I will post the first poll at approximately 6:00pm PDT April 18 2023, with the other polls all scheduled on 12-hour increments after that.

Once the final poll is closed after its week of voting, which will be at 6:00AM PDT on April 30th, I will create the Congeniality and Final Showdown polls.

What is this newly added Congeniality Showdown?

With the variety of options in these polls, there will indeed be a few nations that lose their round robin poll by a small margin of the vote. For these oh-so-close losers, there will be a Congeniality showdown to honour them for giving the victors such a close run for their money.

As the 10 polls each close, I will track the difference in voting percentages by which the losers lost to the victors. The 10 losing nations whose losing percentages are closest to their victors will go in the Congeniality showdown.

For example, Nation A won the poll by 32%, while Nation B finished with 25%. Nation B’s percentage difference of 7% is what determines whether they will appear in the Congeniality showdown. Should the other 9 polls results in 10 other nations getting less than that 7% difference, Nation B will not make the cut.

What are the Tiebreaker Rules?

This section is being added in case one of the round robin polls miraculously ends in a tie. Obviously Tumblr will not allow more than 10 entries into a poll, so a tiebreaker poll is the chosen method of breaking any ties!

I will post a 24-hour poll with the two (or more) nations that tied in the round robin poll, where you all have ONLY the 24 hours to vote. I will announce the tiebreaker poll ahead of time, so that as many of you as possible know during what period of time to search for it and vote.

Whoever wins this vote moves on to the final showdown. For the runner(s)-up, since they managed to tie the winner on the original poll, which makes a voting difference of 0%, they automatically take one of the 10 spots in the Congeniality showdown.

Tiebreaker polls will be scheduled for the period of April 30th to May 3rd if required, so please watch carefully for the posts. I fly to Norway on May 6th, so the Congeniality and Final Showdown polls must get posted before this Canadian goes on vacation.

Who's a fairly minor character that you like probably more than you should?

As my current profile pic may imply, I love Ecuador's energy despite being like, two doodles? He's fantastic and I desperately need more of the turtle man ASAP.

3. If you've been in the fandom for a while, who was your favourite character at first compared to who it is now?

My favorite character started off as America (surprise, the American likes America!), but now I rotate so fast between faves it's hard to tell? America's not in my top three though, which right now is Lithuania, South Italy, and Hungary. 8. What's your favourite au?

AUs are hard because I like the nationverse a lot more than I like human AUs, so they're hard, but I think overall it's either Nyotalia or my own Figurehead AU? I haven't mentioned that AU on this blog but tldr, each nation has a lot more than one rep, especially if there's different ethnic groups and such within the nation, but only one is the "figurehead"/representative of the nation? It allows for a lot of OC making and I usually include the Nyos/2ps as part of the "other reps" gang.

Hello hello!

We are a Hetalia roleplay server looking for new members and friends! We offer Canon and multiple AUs for people to flex their creativity and come up with interesting plots with each other. The members are all welcoming of new people; we get excited when new people join and are interested in RP as much as we are. Here are a few things we ask of from people who are willing to join our craziness, though:

May I request girlfriend headcanons for 2p Nyo Italy and 2p Nyo Romano?

(I originally started writing these as the 1ps and that’s why it took so long to finish, I’m SO sorry, it was a complete accident on my part 😅🖤)

2p Nyo N. Italy:

• It’s very likely that her S/O confessed first because she’s quite socially inept and has no idea how to talk to them, never mind confess to them

• Has no idea how to ask for physical affection, it makes her feel really awkward so she usually sends them a text or expresses it wordlessly like opening her arms out for a hug

• Finds dates to be really formal and doesn’t like them much, she’ll attempt to go on any if her S/O asks her but it is VERY rare that she’ll set one up unless it’s something like an anniversary

• Speaking of anniversaries, she’ll remember literally every single one of them but won’t get mad if they forget because she understands it happens sometimes

• Doesn’t take their clothes without asking, it’s usually only when she gets cold because she feels the cold a lot easier than other people

• Tries her best to explain her mental health to them so they understand the reasons why she might do some things, says they can always just call her sister if they’re confused

• Tries her best to communicate, she’s not that great at it but she does try her best and it works out decently most the time, though it’s mostly because she overexplains herself

• Doesn’t really want to tell her siblings, she doesn’t know how to tell her younger sister and she knows her older sister will bombard them with questions about things like first meetings and marriage which embarrasses her

2p Nyo S. Italy:

• She definitely confessed first, she hates when she gets distracted from things and they took up a lot of her mind

• Makes sure that they’re taking care of themselves, she makes her younger sisters lunch every day so she’s perfectly fine making another plate for them and laying with them until they fall asleep, among other things like that

• Absolutely loves cuddling, it is her favourite kind of physical affection and it’s also a great way to get her to sleep/relax

• Really loves any kind of physical affection, to be honest, she won’t complain if they ever surprise her with a hug or a kiss or anything else

• Can’t accept gifts without feeling horribly guilty and needing to repay them for it, she’s really grateful but she’s worried it’ll get held against her so she always gives them something back

• She likes spending dates at home, she’s running around all the time and the ability to lay around and watch a movie with her S/O is more than enough for her

• Wants them to meet her sisters almost immediately, they all mean a lot to her so it’s very important they get along

• Will use a ton of different nicknames for them, she has nicknames for pretty much everyone in her life so it’s not unusual but they’ll probably have like 10 different things she’ll call them

2P!Nyo Italy Sisters HCs:⦁ Rosaria always leaves her dishes next to the sink and Flavia is in a constant state of keeping Luciana from familial homicide ⦁ Flavia doesn’t know when to stop with designing- Luciana usually finds her passed out next to some sketches and totally doesn’t give her a blanket or anything⦁ Luciana always makes sure that they lock the door when she isn’t home out of slight fear, although she’d never admit it ⦁ Flavia LOVES to push her sisters’ buttons- it usually ends with a fencing battle?? She threw a knife at the target.

It landed near the bullseye, but not quite.

Bianca muttered something and grabbed another knife.

She threw it again.

Near miss.

She growled, getting angrier.

"This is stupid," she mumbled, "why am I doing this?"

She didn't truly know. She simply woke up one day and decided to throw knives.

She ran a hand through her light blonde hair (probably wasn't natural but shh!) and grabbed another knife.

This time, instead of throwing it at the target, she turned around and hurled it at the wall.

"You could've hit me." A voice said.

"Mameko?"

Honda Mameko, Bianca's girlfriend.

Bianca started to apologize, "Oh my god! I'm so sorry amore!"

Mameko came closer and leaned against the wall, "It's fine."

Bianca took Mameko's hands in hers, "It's not! I wouldn't want you to have to be revived because of me!"

Mameko turned away, "I'm fine, I promise."

Bianca fretted, "Are you sure? I don't want-"

Mameko kissed her cheek and murmured, "I'm fine, stop worrying."

Bianca nearly melted on the spot. Mameko rarely showed attention like this which must've meant she was in a good mood.

"Why were you trying to throw knives?"

Bianca shrugged, "I just felt like it I guess."

She changed the subject, "How about we make some pizza, in honor of me not killing you with a knife?"

Mameko didn't push the subject, "Okay, I came here to get my anime back but I guess that can wait."

"Or even better, we can watch it and eat pizza at the same time!"

Mameko started to walk to the kitchen, "I'll see you there."

Bianca swooned internally. She loved her girlfriend very much.
