TF2: so. TF2 huh. got into it last year. i kinda lost interest because of a tf2 discord server that i ended up leaving in bad terms + no content updates + i didn't do jackshit in the fandom. i made my robot oc blog but unfortunately that one died along with my fixation! oops.

Papa Louie: the ultimate killer of my tf2 fixation. the increasing amount of "Papa Louie lore is CRAZY!" videos in my recommended feed and the eventual release of Freezeria Deluxe drawing in streamers, and then Jerma, was what finally got me to crack and give the games a go. i don't regret it, because i finally joined a fandom that i actively (? the fandom's kiiiiinda dead aha;;) participate it, after like 2 years of wandering around! it kinda faltered around July~August, but after downloading Flashpoint, it came back double the force.

Scott Pilgrim: got the books for my birthday. read them. the graphic novels haunted me for a while because it was so.... different! from what i've read up to that point. i buried it into my subconciousness but the show dug it up again. i'm not thaaaat into it though. it's a background thought thing.

Good Omens: season 2 babyyyyyy, i wasn't as into it as i was in like.... 2021? i mean, back then i read like, a shitton of GO fanfics. i think that fandom is still my most bookmarked fandom within my fic folder. season 2 was great! heartbreaking even. but as i said, i already blew my steam back in like, 2021. i didn't really have Good Omens people to talk with anyways, not that i'm confident enough to find any.

Madness Combat: was around for the 2021 boom, but my fixation came back because of the Makeship plushie thing, fight meh ok. i wonder a little if they were worth it over the Papa Louie plushie when my fixation didn't last as long (it kiiiinda does sting i had to give him up? it would be nice to own official Papa Louie merch ;;) but whateves. they're in my arms. they're very cuddly. i'm getting off-point, anyways i love these freaks, love the action in the animations, i wanna play the game but at the same time i'm not sure how well i'm gonna be able to handle the guns and the killing. eh, i'll manage, i'll live. i guess i kinda stopped being fixated because like i said, nobody to talk to since i'm a little wary about the fandom... uh, i'm sure there are a lot of nice people, but i've had peeks at what arguments people have been having and that made me decide to just lurk.

AVA/AVM: my friend was watching it and they got into it, so i got curious and i looked into it as well. they're cute little ibbly babbles, those sticks. big fan of the Animator vs Animation series especially because awoo.... it advances so much in style in each episode. V and VI especially blow shit out of the water. love it. love it. didn't really bother to get into the fandom though. i didn't see a place to sit down, so i just walked through the merchant hall and moved on. i stare at the wares every now and then though.

HLVRAI: watched it recently. it's nice. not.... really enjoyable enough for me to be a full-blown fan, but whateves. i kinda don't know why that happened to be the thing that all my mutuals were obsessed with throughout 2021 but the only reason i didn't get into it either was because i didn't finish Hal-Life 1 and i wanted to get into the game blind due to hearing that it was "the best game ever that influenced the gaming industry forever". i wonder, that if i wasn't such a wuss, would i have watched HLVRAI earlier and enjoyed it more? we'll have to see with HL2VRAI. i haven't finished HL2 either btw... sigh.

1) GOOD IT'S GREAT, needs a bigger fandom outside hlvrai. Also maybe look into Black Mesa- the fan made modern remake that is *absolutely beautiful,* one of the few games that would probably actually be worth $60, but is actually only $20, and is a faithful recreation with modern technology.

2) siren pups are called houndeyes! Headcrabs are probably p obvious, but also, the squid face dogs are bullsquids, and the three-armed aliens are vortigaunts!

I shall play Blue Shift then fuck yeah!!! Was just about to start Half Life 2 so I’m glad I found that out beforehand and play everything in series! I’m absolutely gonna check out that fanmade game that sounds so cool!

As a kid I was pretty much fully isolated from video games as a whole and honestly it’s been a BLAST playing games that are spoiled or well known for many but completely unknown for me! I finished playing the Portal series a few weeks ago and MAN I now know why it is on such a high pedestal!! The games are wonderful and the characters are absolutely iconic. Currently going through well known earlyish PC games, the Doom games, Portal, Half-Life, and slowly chugging my way through chronologically so I can see how video gaming as a whole progressed and evolved! It’s so neat! It’s really hard trying to play a few games though, lots of games expect you to know a lot of stuff so I have to watch lots of videos to make sure I’m not forgetting a Super Important button that does a Super Important Game Mechanic. It’s so cool tho!!!! I’m having such a great time!!!!!!! Thanks for the ask my guy!! :D

ough ok sorry i’m about to brain dump my unformulated unorganized ideas all over this post (tysm for the ask btw). i don’t expect anyone to read all this, but it’s nice to actually write all the ideas down. WARNING long ass post under cut 👇

so like as i rambled about in this post, essentially the science team is stuck in an endlessly looping simulation that was made as an early test of black mesa’s virtual reality/ai tech. it’s built a lot like a game because that format makes it easier to run tests over and over.

anyways, hlvrai happens, they beat benrey, they go to chuck e cheese. but the party is also a cover for gman to temporarily isolate the science team in a little mini pocket simulation as he tries to fix whatever-the-hell is wrong with the main test one. except he fails.

hlvrai2 starts with gordon waking up on the tram, playing this game to test this cool vr tech for black mesa. except gordon is not excited this time. in fact gordon is freaking out because he remembers everything from the previous loop and he is wondering WHY he’s back here. why isn’t the test over. also he only got to eat 1 slice of pizza at chuck e cheese before everything blacked out so that sucks too.

gordon’s not the only one who remembers the last loop. everyone else who aren’t just random npcs also remember. before it was just tommy, gman, sunkist, and benrey who retained memories of previous loops. tommy and gman because their job is to keep the simulation intact, sunkist because tommy made her like that, and benry because he’s an anomaly (human consciousness and alien program/virus thing melded into one). in benry’s case, the memories are more jumbled and muddled in his head. so things don’t make a lot of sense for them.

anyway my idea is that this new loop that they’re in is even more screwed up than the last one. like the seams are really breaking and shit’s getting through. enemies that never appeared in any iteration before are appearing now. sections of the map have either moved or are missing entirely. there are new places too that don’t exactly look like they belong (bubby opens a closet door to reveal a forest, “what the hell is this narnia shit”). it’s super obvious that their world isn’t “real” and coomer, bubby, and darnold have to come to terms with the fact that they’re ai. although maybe bubby not so much because honestly xe doesn’t really give a shit about having a crisis over it (“I’m already a test tube baby—what difference does it make”). but bubby, like the others, would like to escape these endless loops. so that becomes the team’s main goal: find a way out. oh, and find gman too because he’s been missing ever since the loop restarted and tommy doesn’t know where the hell he is and it’s kind of concerning.

darnold joins the science team because he also remembers the last loop and wow this whole situation is just really messed up i guess i HAVE to go on a epic quest now dang. she takes up the healer role with her potions (not a huge fan of the violence), plus he just tends to fret over others in general. benrey rejoins the science team, which of course leads to tension that has to be worked out. now that benry isn’t coded as the antagonist/final boss anymore, he doesn’t have malicious intentions, but they’re still a little shit. they feels bad about what they did but doesn’t really know how to express it other than riling up gordon. though things get better between gordon and benrey as the adventure progresses and they have to save each other’s asses multiple times. he even says sorry eventually.

sooo i don’t exactly know how they break out yet, but they will stop the loops and escape into the actual main simulation of reality, the one that irl black mesa made to preserve humanity. the science team’s simulation was one of the tests that helped black mesa build the main simulation except nobody thought to stop running that test program—hence why the team’s been looping all this time. but yeah i’m still thinking about how it all ends. and also what the heck i want to do with forzen. i think i want him to be similar to be an ai that a piece of alien virus/coding latched onto. i think the alien virus/code used to be bigger and more intact before irl black mesa began messing with the alien tech, then it got fractured off into pieces that eventually found things in the system to latch onto, which is why forzen’s like “we used to be best friends” to benry. because technically there’s a part of them that used to be part of a bigger thing. idk. i think i want forzen to play a bit of an antagonist role, but not as a really bad one or anything. he’s just misguided. and maybe confused. let’s be real he doesn’t really know what he’s doing.

gman is missing because he’s dealing with his “Employers.” aka the super advanced hivemind ai that helps keep everything running in the background. they think the test simulation isn’t worth having around anymore because it’s becoming more trouble than it’s worth and they think gman isn’t able to handle it, so they’re stepping in. they aren’t the reason the test simulation is breaking down—the deterioration just got their attention. gman’s trying to either convince them to NOT erase it all or just stall them long enough in hopes that the science team figure a way out before the hammer comes down.

i was thinking who the main antagonist WOULD be, but maybe there doesn’t actually need to be one. it’s mostly the science team vs the test simulation. i guess the Employers could be seen as the main antagonist, but they’re just doing what they think is best to keep everything running smoothly.

ok that’s it im going to stop i’ve drained my brain resources. if anyone’s actually read all the way through, wow. thanks for slogging through my ramblings. :’)

Just saw Strange World, and honestly, I only had one gripe with it. But it's also a huge one.

Disney? You didn't fucking market this thing. At all. My mom is a HUGE Disney fan and she didn't know about the movie's existence until two days ago when I showed her the trailer.

I went to a theater to see this movie. I went with my mom and one of my brothers. There were maybe around 4 or 5 other people in the entire room. That's it. And this theater isn't small by any means. It's an Emagine. It's a good place.

Sure, it's a late Wednesday night and Thanksgiving is tomorrow, but COME ON. Less than 10 people in the theater? Are you joking?

It's clear to me that this movie was poorly advertised due to its actually good and inclusive rep. An interracial couple, who has a gay teenage son. Their son being gay isn't a lil thing that's mentioned once, it's brought up multiple times and it is more than clear that the son is crushing on another boy. It's treated no different from any other relationship.

Disney, good on you for having a main character be canonically gay and have it be very clear, but also not in-your-face the whole time. You made an actually good queer character.

But Disney? Fuck you for this lack of marketing. You wanted to see this movie fail. If it does, I'll never be over it.

Either way, I'd recommend this movie. I loved watching it tonight. Definitely gonna rewatch it sometime.

ive been a huge fan of your art for a bit now (a few months, your wonderful geometric mind design makes me want to. eat your art it is so good.) but i have no idea whats going on with the mindverse, i know the freemanverse, i know freemans mind, i know hlvrai, but i never really knew there were. more mind series???? and how they all tie into eachother??? and either 1), where can i learn about all this awesome stuff because KJHKFJGDKJFGD new possible hyperfixation obtained, or 2), can you please explain it to be because i am Very Enthusiastic but Very Lost about all of this-/nf

Okay okay okay. So essentially, the Mindverse is the collective universe/universes of the different Mind series. Some of the more popular ones are Freeman’s Mind, Barney’s Mind, and Shephard’s Mind- all made by different people. There are many, many more of these Mind series though, such as Chell’s Mind, Stark’s Mind, Arlen’s Mind- and literally dozens more.

Some of the Mind Series take place in different games! Obviously with Freeman’s Mind, that takes place in half life. Lots of other people decided to make half life mind series with the various games/mods. There are other minds like Chell’s Mind or Harrison’s Mind that are made in different games with different characters!

Aaaahh trying to keep this brief yet understandable- essentially, after Freeman’s Mind was made, a bunch of other people decided “hey, I wanna do that” and made their own series with different characters and different styles! Here on The Internet- within the fandom specifically- a few people started tying the minds into each other since (and this is where my hyperfixation kicked into overdrive) a group called the Masterminds were all friends and decided to tie their series in with one another! For example, in Barney’s Mind, Barney meets Adrian Shephard from Shephard’s Mind because the two creators wanted to collab! Or how in Felix’s Mind, the creator asked the voice of Barney’s Mind to dub over the canonical Barney in HL2!

I am Sorry this was so Long I Apologize, but I got all my info from watching every Mastermind series and rereading the wikis over and over and over and over and over. If you wanna read more I suggest looking at some wikis! It has character info and (a few) links and it was all around a great way to spend six months of my life. Unfortunately some Mind Stuff needs a little more digging to get to (being this stuff all happened from like, 2009-2016 at the very latest).

Only when it's used to represent jews. * When it comes to non-jewish characters, it's harder to make a set list of "yes"s and "no"s due to a little thing called nuance. Sometimes artists can combine these traits in a respectful way that has no ties to antisemitism, and other artists utilize these traits to make anti-jewish media. This is unfortunately an overlap that can not be defines due to how much of this is a grey area, so do your best to research an artists views before making false claims - the same goes for giving antisemitic artists a free pass on accident. Do your research, don't be afraid to ask artists in private first before making public posts, and stay safe!

what even is rtvs and how can i get into it immediately

rtvs is a twitch team, radio tv solutions! they blew up after creating half life vr but the ai is self aware, but have a lot of other entertaining streams, like the crazy stuff i mentioned in that post. wayne is like the “head” of the group i guess, and he’s got a vod channel on yt here where there’s some full streams and some shorter, cut down clips, as well as another channel with more formal but less frequent uploads (where hlvrai is). scorpy also has both a vod channel and regular channel on yt, baaulp’s got a vod channel, and gir does but when i looked it hardly updates. i don’t know all of who does or doesn’t have a vod channel, but otherwise you can go watch their stuff on twitch! the very first hyperlink is to their team page, and from there you can find all of their twitch channels and videos.

i’d recommend starting with hlvrai bc that’s what a lot of people did, but if it’s not your thing or you’d rather just go for some regular gaming, there’s a lot of good things to choose from.

not really a game, but wayne & co do a lot of ai dungeon streams that are all hilarious - definitely check out ai-dventure call, an ai dungeon where they all roleplay

among us is HOT and they’ve done a few streams of it with the entire gang, including some with proximity chat. lots of really really good funnies from these. almost all were squad streams, so you can watch vods from many perspectives, including wayne’s, scorpy’s, baaulp’s, gir’s (until he refused to play ever again after forgetting to mute mic as imposter), mira’s, and holly’s. if i forgot any of them, oops <3 wayne has vods on his yt channel but you can find it from the others on their twitch!

some of them have been playing lots of hitman 2/3 lately. many r also dead by daylight fans so you can find lots of that too. from the summertime you can find many fall guys streams too

Ok, hi lol. You may or may not know or remember me, either is fine. I kinda tend to lurk/stalk this blog without following you, y'know, just checking in once in a while. The recent post you made about the Yogs community hit pretty hard. Nearly two months ago, I repainted one of my old artworks just for me and to see my improvement in painting, and I thought it was nice so I posted it. (1/2)

It's really wild. Like maybe you could say this blog is weird for remaining in this space when the artists have left but like I've said before, it's just a series of easily obtainable case studies, it was never a Yogscast fan blog.

I’ve seen some of the former Yogscast fanartists in the spotlight (again I’m not gonna drop names because that’s just making trouble for people) especially when some network blows up for a little while. When Wayne Radio blew up last spring it was like a tiny ex-Yogscast artist convention. I didn’t stick that channel out after HLVRAI but a couple did, and I’ve seen them here and there elsewhere. It’s kinda neat.

I know some remaining fans are still around for reasons that are kind of inscrutable if you're over 18 or had a more moderate dorky phase... specifically I think there's a handful that are really attached to the fictional universes fanartists developed back in the boom years and are still drawing Alien Lewis with a Tail even though the man behind the character now appears to have overtaken my dad in age

and I'm not playing dumb, I know how that kind of singular attachment develops and in whom. If the Yogscast is your special interest and using layers of fanon to shelter your little world from the modern state of the company is what you need to do, there but for the grace of God go I. You do what you have to do.

But if you're really just sticking out with the Yogscast because "it's what's on"... come on. You don't have to watch videos made by a company that sheltered a pedophile out of habit. Habits are made to be broken.
