The Delivery
summary: Reader is pregnant and clearly ready to give birth but she refuses to go to the hospital, fluff
authors note: Ive literally only ever written smut for Rich so I really wanted to switch things up, SPOILERS FOR THE OFFICE: also this is heavily based on an office episode with the same title, a clip will be attached if you want to see it ->(06x18)
Your baby with Richarlison was meant to arrive any day now. As the due date came closer, Rich became evidently more ecstatic. You were excited too, you really were. But as Rich later learned, you were also in serious denial.
Today, you were accompanying Rich to football practice. It was something you never really did but he insisted on bringing you with him just in case something happened while he was gone. You told him he had nothing to worry about, after all, the due date was only a few days away.
“Exactly, only a few days away,” he points out. He would never be able to forgive himself if he left you alone while your water broke or your contractions became unbearable. So, here you were, spending the day with Richarlison and his football team.
It was lunchtime and you were seated with your husband and his teammates. You all joked around, enjoying the nutritious meal when you suddenly felt a sharp pain coming from your abdomen. It caused you to drop your fork and you reached for your stomach. You winced and everyone's attention turned to you. Richarlison was quick to comfort you, holding your hand in his.
“Meu amor are you alright? Is it time for the hospital?” He asks, worry laced in his voice with just a hint of excitement. The boys around the table were just as worried, watching intently as your face scrunched up in pain. You gripped his hand tightly and shook your head no.
“No, no. It’s just a regular contraction. They just come in waves.” You say, quickly dismissing what had just happened. He looked at you with furrowed eyebrows but let it go. After all, you knew your body better than he did. However, after your fifth contraction in a matter of only 20 minutes, Richarlison had grown impatient.
“Baby I know they are just contractions, but they are starting to get really close, don’t you think?” Rich asks, trying to convince you that you were indeed in labor. His knees were bouncing like crazy under the table. You laughed and shook your head.
“Rich, the baby isn’t due until a few more days, remember?” You ask innocently, turning back to eating your food. Richarlison rubbed his face in frustration. Even if they were all men, Rich and his teammates knew that this wasn’t right.
“(Y/N), why don’t you two just head to the hospital? You know, just to see what this is all about?” Son, one of his teammates, asked. You smiled at him gently and again shook your head no.
“As long as I can talk through them I-“ another contraction pierced through your body, ironically interrupting your sentence. This time, it was clear that it was time to go. Richarlison and Son try to help you off the chair and you shake your head no.
“No, it’s not time,” you softly protest, refusing to move from your seat. The other guys quickly circle around you, encouraging you that it was time to go to the hospital.
“I’M NOT GOING!” You shout and the hands around you instantly let go of you.
“I’m not going today, because I can’t do it, I don’t think I can do it,” you say, tears running down your face. In that moment, Richarlison finally understood why you were being so delusional. It was because you were petrified.
“Hey, hey, hey,” He quickly kneels in front of you, holding both your hands in his. You feel the other players’ hands gently placed on your back and shoulders. You didn’t care though, finding comfort only in your husband's touch. You try your best to stare into his eyes, your vision heavily blurred with tears.
“Don’t say that baby, I know you’re scared. I’m scared too,” Rich says, his thumb stroking the back of your hand. He wipes at the tears streaming down your cheeks. Son passed you a napkin and you held it up to your nose.
“You can do this, you want to know why?” You sniffled, shrugging your shoulders. How you wished it was any day but today.
“Because you’re my wife. Ok? And we’re gonna have a beautiful baby,” he strokes your cheek lovingly with one hand, “at the hospital,” he quickly adds. You hear the entire lunch room chuckling as you finally nod your head.
“Ok.” You whisper, smiling as everyone cheers. Richarlison and Son gently transport you from the lunchroom and into your car. You wave goodbye to everyone, the fear finally melting into excitement.
“We’re gonna have a baby!” Richarlison shouts as he pulls the car out into the highway and towards the hospital.

“Oh,” Christopher’s voice is quiet. “I didn’t know he had a new girlfriend.”
“Yeah,” Eddie says. “It’s… Well, it just happened, I guess.”
Chris frowns. “She’s very pretty.”
“Yeah.”
“Is she nice?”
Eddie thinks. She had seemed lovely when he met her. She does a very kind thing for her job. She must be a good person. But she ran out on Buck when his life seemed complicated, and Eddie’s not sure that’s very fair. But, then again, he might just be mad she ran from what he would run to.
“I only met her once,” Eddie admits. “But she was nice.”
“So you like her?”
No.
Eddie shrugs. “Sure.”
“Then why does seeing her picture make you sad?”
