Yuuta sat across from Cloche, their hands shuffling the worn tarot cards with care. "It's your birthday, right?" They asked, their voice soft. “To be honest, I don't have much to give, but maybe this might be helpful?” He shrugged with a laugh. "Let's see what the cards have to say. Hmm...You have the Nine of Pentacles, which indicates self-sufficiency and material abundance. And here, the High Priestess, suggests intuition and mystery. Interesting combination.”
Yuuta pulls out the final card and focuses on the voices that whisper to him; spirits that are tethered to the magical deck. He smirks in realization. “Finally, we have the Two of Cups, symbolizing harmony and connection. Hmm…It seems like this year might bring opportunities for deeper connections and understanding. You might find yourself opening up more, expressing things you've kept hidden.” After a moment he tucks the cards away, silencing their chatter, and then digs in his other pocket.
"I wanted to give you something else too, nothing major. The colors made me think of you." Yuuta continued, placing a small round Labradorite stone on the table. "It's for when things get overwhelming. You can keep it in your pocket whenever you feel uncomfortable. It's kinda like…a silent way to process your emotions when you hold onto it. Maybe it’ll be useful to you, since you're so quiet n’ all." He shrugs once more before giving her a small, knowing smile. He didn’t know much about her, but thanks to his "powers". he knew her feelings, and how leashed they were.
"I know we haven’t talked much since I saw you at the flower reading event, but don’t be such a stranger. You’re like one of the only tolerable cats at this damn school. Pfft, Happy Birthday, Cloche!"

YUUTA
I love this guy already. He's so sweet making Grim breakfast! And knows how to enjoy a good meal, and he makes sure Grim will too.
And I'm really happy to see that he's just...well, a kid. He's the youngest Yuu we have so far (Yuuka is 17 along with Yuuken iirc), and unlike those two, he doesn't know how to fight. He's just a kid with a part time job helping out the family business. Though he'd definitely be able to knock you down with a frying pan. I feel out of the 4 Yuus (Yuuya, Yuuken, Yuuka, him), he's the most normal one. Not to mention he's plus sized; something that I would expect the least, given how main characters are usually made as appealing as possible, chubbiness being something that isn't really seen as 'appealing'. Especially considering this is Japan we're talking about. I just hope he doesn't end up a stereotype, but I have faith that he'll end up distinct and just as good as the other Yuus.
This is the guy who'll outsmart Azul's oh so perfectly constructed business. This is the guy who'll risk his right to housing, for the three people he's come to care about, who've come to care for him. This is the guy that will emerge to the top, and still be kind and understanding.
I think that right there is really powerful message, and I hope the people that need to hear it are able to.
On that note, I'm going to be very scared for when Yuuta's backstory comes around. That boy couldn't have gone through life without bullying, unfortunately. But it's probably also going to be a great moment to show just how empathetic and mature he is. I have high hopes for this guy, both as a character and for the topics that can be tackled with him.
In any case, my man better be attuned with the wok hay.

[Dynamic]: The youngest sibling who adores attention and the elder who continually gives it to them. They both boost each other's egos. Whether it's complimenting their style or simply feeling confident that day. I can picture these two chatting about someone they don't like at the same time. And they would do it...ACCURATELY. If someone gets on their nerves that day, they are spilling to each other immediately. Over text or call it does not matter.😭
Actually, Mitzy would probably run over to Ramshackle to go and gossip. Out of breath and everything saying “Bitch you would not believe what just happened.”
And start ranting that whole night with the prefect.
Unfortunately, Yuuta will also be subjected to Mitzy’s fashion and makeup styling. Poor thang…consider yourself yassified.
Inside her journal, Mitzy would have an astrology-themed page spread for Yuuta. Everything is star-themed, including the glitter. All to express her feelings for a friend of hers.
Yuuta & Grace
[Dynamic]: The eldest who checks up on the middle child whenever they look lonely or left out. To be honest, Yuuta would be the perfect person to help hone Grace’s potion making. I can see them doing experiment tests in an empty alchemy room to do some good practice. Grace would be flipping through an ingredient book holding a beaker with shaky meanwhile Yuuta is next to a fire extinguisher if anything happens.
Although Yuuta is supportive of Grace, the possibility of her experiment going wrong is very high. But hey they’re still cheering from the sidelines!
In conclusion, these two should have a friend picnic with a tarot themed tea set [or a bunny tea set if Leona gave her the idea. Probably saying that “Oh yeah they would love that.” With the most fakest smile in existence to trick Grace into buying it 💀]
Yuuta & Coco
[Dynamic]: The two eldest that bond over being older and are both chill as fuck. Since both Yuuta and Coco are into herbalism I can see them being medicine making buddies together. [My brain just had a cursed image of Coco and Yuuta cooking meth like Walter and Jessie…I’m so sorry.💀] Taking care of the people they love most by healing them. Their simple way of showing affection to others.
In a way, Coco would be very trusting of Yuuta. So much that she’ll just ask them to just keep an eye on her sisters to make sure they don’t end up in a heap load of trouble.
Coco: Hey, can you watch the girls real quick?
Yuuta: Yeah sure I don’t mind-
Mitzy: MY COMPACT WENT MISSING! WHO WENT THROUGH MY STUFF!?

WHAT A FUN CHAPTER it was nice to see kusakabe get his moment….. even if it was short-lived :’3 HE’S FINEEEE GUYS DW look at this panel. look how sick it is. you think this is the kinda guy to go down like that??? kusakabe is a like a cockroach he could survive a nuclear bomb…. trust…..
but no i !!!!! loved. his thoughts abt yaga T_T how kusakabe really is just a decent guy once you get down to it. he owes yaga a debt but it’s less of a debt and more of a deep respect… he tells himself that yaga is dead so it doesn’t matter but he still imagines yaga’s sad expression and still latches on to what he would’ve wanted. he cares.
and i think this was also such a great moment :(( bc kusakaba has been running away from battle for. as long as we’ve known him LMAO but this is him taking on a more protective role towards the kids!! something akin to nanami and the importance he placed on adulthood. and it’s also so good when you remember kusakabe’s previous stance on yuji…. how he thought it was best for him to be executed. but deep down he cares!!
i’d have liked to see more interactions between him and miwa bc it’s obvious those two are especially close :(( and that makes a lot of sense because both are them are just. Nice. they’re kind people. miwa is just way less cynical. their banter is always so fun and i need my dosage of found family father/daughter moments so akutami BETTER supply me with more …. 😒😒😒

The way Yuki and Choso vs. Kenjaku probably would have been my favorite fight in the whole series if it didn't end the way it did. Actually tragic.
#i still think they should of lost but killing off yuki in that way was so unsatisfactory#i love literally everything about that fight except for the very end#just the dynamics between the three of them are so interesting#i would have loved to explore more of kenjaku and yuki as foils to each other#takaba vs. kenjaku was very good and fun and interesting but i dont care for yuuta being the one to finish off kenjaku#i would have liked to see yuki take part in taking down kenjaku and working with the sorcerers around her and interacting more with them#and even if she did have to die i would have liked her to connect more with the cast instead of just choso (even though i love them)#jjk

➜ He's very much aware that Yuustin wants to learn some of his gunslinging skills, but he's not gonna teach him any of that for free. In this economy? No!
➜ He's painting all of their nails during his self-proclaimed ‘sleepovers’ during the weekends. He makes sure to give Yuustin the most half-assed ones.
➜ I'd say, between the three, he's closest with Yuliya and Yves. But mostly Yuliya, as he wants to give her some moments where she doesn't have to pretend to be someone she isn't. Even if it gives her an advantage, and because it was expected of her from people who mistook her for that person.
↳ This isn't to say he isn't close with Yuustin, they just clash a lot 😭 I'd say they're civil with each other, at best.

Just thought of what a mess it would be if Yuuta and I had crushes on eachother because we’re shy nervous idiots. Someone would have to literally knock our heads together for us to get it.
We’d probably work well together though if we ever figured it out
