ɢᴇᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴜɴ

ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘɪᴄᴋ ᴜᴘ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛ ᴍᴜꜱᴇ(ꜱ) ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ?

Some of them it's hard to really pinpoint an exact reason why I pick up some muses, mainly I just get an itch to write a specific archetype or character, but usually it's because something about that character resonated with me! An example being that I really relate to Noriaki Kakyoin or with Alastor/Alucard, I just really wanted to write a sort of villain or character with some fucked up morals. It's fun and it challenges my writing a lot! I guess mainly, I like characters I feel I understand well or characters that push me out of my comfort zone.

ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ?

Anything to do with SA, it's an absolute NO from me but I would think that's obvious that writing SA is kinda gross for roleplay? There's other stuff too, I really don't like ABO AU's, I just think the whole "alpha" and "beta" thing is just really weird and not my thing. Finally is just weird fetished, man. I'm not gonna RP a character getting blown up like a balloon or anything like that, no offence but it makes me EXTREMELY uncomfortable.

I love writing angst, romance, fluff, slice of life or even action!!! Those are all really fun genres to RP for me, especially angst because I'm a sadistic son of a bitch, so I get super hyped to RP messing with my muses!

I'm usually inspired by music or fan art. Sometimes it's just me making a general observation and running with it or basing a headcanon off of life experiences!

Music, absolutely. When I'm having trouble writing a muse, I listen to a song from a private muse playlist I made on Spotify that I associate with that muse and it REALLY helps me get more into character.

Beatles for Sale (1964)

What happens when you've used up an album's worth of original compositions and your schedule has been absolutely jam packed? If you're this band, ya release another album, naturally!

I'm a sucker for the Autumnal Aesthetic but these lads were not having a jolly time amongst gilded leaves! Featuring George's hair at peak Onion.

This one is infamously very Cover heavy, but does that really make it one of the weakest instalments? I've liked some'a their covers a lot, though the originals often outrank them with good reason. Let's see how the mixture here fares~

SIDE ONE

No Reply: It may reference that archaic device known to older people as a Telephone, but this number is shockingly timeless all the same! A jaunty song about a relationship that has either fizzled out, or the POV character has been cucked without a formal breakup. Even though it is about ghosting and resentment, it's got a great rhythm and energy to it, plus I'm also very fond of the "Your Face" version from the Anthology uploads.

I'm a Loser: Another oddly catchy song given the introspection and distinctly downbeat subject. There's something about how fun the music becomes at the chorus, peak juxtaposition~ Harmonica makes a bold return, too! It's one of the most dance-able depression songs so far!

Baby's in Black: A clear narrative is stated here, of the Singer lamenting that the object of his affections is busy grieving over someone else. I get the impression that the mourning is in fact literal, that the other beau is dead and buried, and that we ain't s'posed to side with the Main Character for being a self-centred berk about it (but some of the AHDN songs plant a seed of doubt for the Irony take, given how there's spite and selfishness in those...!). Anyway, the song itself is serviceable but not as notable as the prev numbers.

Rock and Roll Music: Ah, our first cover! It's good and well played but I don't think our lads really bring anything to the table that the Chuck Berry didn't already provide. I listened to that right after and neither version lights a fire in me.

I'll Follow the Sun: This has a very nice, mellow sound to it, but it has a bit of the snag I found on AHDN's 2nd side; that it seems to be a "You're gonna regret this" song. The reoccurring "But Tomorrow may rain, so I'll follow the Sun" sounds optimistic and hopeful but when it's surrounded by the passive aggressive sentiment... I will say it's possible I've got the wrong end of the stick [The prev album was an Experience lmao], but it does seem telling that this original number is like, never Iconic lol

Mr. Moonlight: MISTAAAAAAHHHHHH. Another cover but idk the original. Sounds a little more gay than normal, if they're gonna personify The Moon as a guy and declare their love for him :v

Kansas City / Hey Hey Hey Hey: I have a slight dislike of this just cause it took me longer to write the title out. So it's a cover, but of 2 songs mashed together? Paul is bringing his impression of a deeper voice and the instrumentation is very nice but eehhhh. It's not one I'm gonna go back to lmao

SIDE TWO

8 Days a Week: Finally some good fucking food!! A much needed injection of cheer, and while it seems the Bugs themselves didn't think that much of it sometimes a simple sweet song is a nice thing to boogie to.

Words of Love: Ah, Buddy Holly? Their idol and main reason for the Beatle moniker? Seems to be a decent cover of one of his numbers, while there ain't many lyrics the guitar and drums are very nice, though I could do without the clapping.

Honey Don't: Ringo's vocal return since With The Beatles! This song doesn't do much for me but the little flourishes thrown in like "Rock on George, for Ringo one time!" and fab guitar work have me smiling~

Every Little Thing: Annoyingly my brain keeps autofilling 'she does is magic' and then I find it harder to remember how this one sounds. But it's actually a stronger song on this here album, another Actually Pleasant one! The timpani has such a dramatic presence but for once I'm not concerned about the girl's safety like I am in other ones lmao

I Don't Want to Spoil the Party: This sad song is set to another jaunty rhythm that kicks into a higher gear for the bridge... hmm, seems to be the main thesis of this album, innit! Kudos for this POV feller to at least try being a bit more self aware. This ends a little bit abruptly, which makes it another shade different to I'm A Loser.

What You're Doing: "Oh babe you've crossed me and I'm gonna make a big deal about it in song form" song. I've heard lotsa these on this and the prev album!! But while I'm repeating the same sentiments about them doing that, I looove the guitar and drum work on this very mid lyrical assortment.

Everybody's Trying to be My Baby: Another tedious title! Another cover, too. George's only vocal on this one and I don't think it's great. I do like Rock and or Roll but the ones this album uses don't make a strong impression on me. Guitar good.

CONCLUSION

Best 3: No Reply, I'm a Loser, 8 Days a Week

Blurst 3: Kansas City/Hey [x4], What You're Doing, Everybody's [...] Baby

Overall Quality?: It took the 2nd side of the record for the first original song on the album to be energetic and sincere without slightly concealed bad vibes! That's pretty dang indicative of what the Burnout Album has to offer. There's a fair bit of mildly good Rock 'n' Roll, lotsa great instrument playing, but man oh man this isn't a Good Time Had By All.

But I must make clear that the good songs, are great! And some of the miseryfests are still catchy lol. Before I listened to all the songs I was ready to bat for this being an underrated gem, but hmmm, no actually it is a weak one. But I can give them the benefit of Early[ish] Day Feet Finding + HUGE MASSIVE PRESSURE being why it's a bit on the limp side. I felt more disappointed in A Hard Day's Night side 2 than with this, though my "C'mon dudes" reasoning is pretty much the same, and this has more Mid Covers.

Hmmm... this one's tricky because the answer is both Yes and No.

In general, I never post something unless I'm happy with it, so everything I have up on AO3 I was and often am still satisfied with. So if there were to be any re-dos on my pieces, at most they would just be to do some minor edits that I didn't catch the first time through, or fix an awkward wording here and there. Nothing major.

Even my really old stuff from back when I was still a new writer, I don't think I would go back and rework. At the time they were the best writing I could do, and while perhaps on a Technical side I could possibly do a better job with the stories, I don't think I could redo the stories in a way that felt right. Yes, I've certainly changed as a writer, but as a person I've also changed, and teenage-me was having thoughts and feelings and approaching topics in a way that current-me, half a lifetime removed and grown, couldn't hope to meet (both in good ways and bad).

That's not to say I haven't been tempted to do a complete rewrite in the past. I know back when I was new, I went back and rewrote my first fic in a way that satisfied me more. And there was something I posted around 2012? 2013? that I wrote in a fury over like 3 days and posted it almost immediately after, and it only took about a month for me to go "eehhhh i wanna try that again" and I got about 6 chapters into the rewrite and lost steam. Fortunately I never started posting it, so I wasn't leaving anybody handing in eternal WIP hell.

Oh my god. This one was weird. But we still go on with that Fifty Shades of Grey stuff. Will I ever be able to get away from it? Probably not.

After all I started this one after a talk to my best friend where I mentioned I would write the 50 Shades of Stark.

Chapter 4 - class reunion

After Happy brought you home, you sat on your bed, unsure what to think about what he just said. Becoming his sugar babe? Many women dreamt of this, probably, but not you, actually. Apparently. You wondered why he wouldn’t want a proper relationship. Maybe he was afraid to get hurt, just like you. You cuddled into your blanket and let yourself drop down on your side. Right when you closed your eyes, your phone vibrated twice, the signal for a message. You took your phone to check it. A message from an unknown number.

“Hey, darling, I hope you’re alright. I wish you'd say yes.

- Tony"

You just tossed it into the next corner, trying to ignore him. He only made it worse. And how did he even manage to get your phone number!? As your phone vibrated again, you were about to turn it off, but instead of another message from Tony, it was one from your best friend from school.

“Hey, don't forget our class reunion tomorrow! Love ya!

- (F/N)”

Right. The class reunion. You already forgot about it, because of a certain someone. You turned off your phone for now. You needed sleep, more than that. Actually you just wanted to sleep forever. Slowly your eyes closed again, until you finally fell asleep in the small blanket-burrito you were rolled in.

The door bell made you wake up. How long did you sleep? Long enough so Tony forgot about you already? You took a look at your clock to realise it were only almost 11 hours of sleep. You needed them. There was no excuse needed for sleeping this long. Slowly you got up and walked over to the door, still in your pyjamas.

“(Y/N)!” Your best friend grinned at you and waved. You just blinked at her, before you took a look at your clock again. “Am I wrong or is the party tonight?” – “I know I’m early, but I’m sure, you need decent clothes for it. Let's go shopping.” Your inner couch potato immediately shook its head. Damn, you needed rest and people still wanted you to do stuff with them. You felt stressed out. “I'm not in the mood...” you mumbled, looking at her. “C'mon! You need to get out of your cave.” If she only knew that you already tried that and only got weird paperwork for a materialistic relationship. “Naahhh...” you shook your head, as a yawn escaped your throat. But she didn’t seem to give up and after some discussion you finally gave in, so she would stop trying to convince you. You couldn’t be convinced, but you did it anyway.

After getting ready for heading into the city, you already regretted going out with her. Actually you loved spending time with her but you wouldn’t want to be seen by anyone right now. You took a look at your phone, checking for notifications that could be important in any way. Some messages from Tony who desperately tried to comfort you when you were sleeping. Every message sounded more worried than the one before. You sighed and dared to answer.

“Mr. Stark, am I allowed to remind you, that I’m a human being that needs to sleep at times?”

Right after you sent it, an answer popped up.

“I’m sorry, darling. You seemed so bothered, so I got worried.”

You cocked an eyebrow at this message, not sure how to deal with it. “Who is that?” your best friend watched over your shoulder at your phone, trying to get a look. “No one important.” You turned your phone away from her, before she turned back again. You decided to give him one last answer.

“You worry too much. I’m busy now, Mr. Businessman, need to get some clothes for my class reunion.”

You put your phone back into the pocket of your jacket, burying your hands in them on each side. “Did something happen to you lately? You seem so stressed out.” You peered at your best friend from the corner of your eyes. You couldn’t tell her. Not yet. You didn’t know how to explain it to yourself, so how would you be able to tell her? You shook your head. “Just work.” – “We need to find you a good man... who distracts you.” Once again you wished, that she knew, but she didn’t and it made everything more difficult. “Please, don't play the matchmaker.” You sighed, laughing lightly, when she elbowed you into the side.

After walking through tons of shops, you were done and exhausted, but you seemed to have found what you searched for. Maybe you should send Tony a picture later so he would know what he could get. If you decided to become his sugar babe.

“Well then, (Y/N), I will see you later, right?” You just nodded, smiling, because it was a good decision to go out with her.

Once you were home again, you took a long and warm shower, before you started getting ready for the class reunion. You were proud of your make-up, because it looked like never before and your outfit – consisting of a pair of hot pants, nylon pantyhoses and a black blouse – looked inviting. You took a quick selfie, before you sent it to Tony. You threw your phone back to your bed, to make yourself a sandwich.

Your best friend picked you up in the early evening. You two even booked a hotel near the location so you didn't have to drive home later. When was the last time you went out to drink? Ugh, you didn’t know either.

The whole party was great. Your former classmates greeted you and complimented on your outfit. You drank a lot and danced with a lot of people. You felt free, nothing could ever stop you. You could impress the people here by what you did and what you were able to do, not like certain other guys who impressed you with everything they had. The sudden snap of Tony in our mind made your mood drop immediately and you stormed out to get some fresh air.

A look at your phone showed, that he still didn’t reply to your selfie. Your inner you huffed again. Why wouldn’t he answer? As drunk as you were, you got the wildest ideas. Was he with another woman? He was allowed to, right? You didn't even notice how your fingers danced across the screen, searching for his contact entry. And there you called him.

“It's late.” Was his greeting. Was he asleep? No, he didn’t sound like he was sleeping. “You're with another girl, right?” Tears were filling your eyes. A moment of silence lingered between the two of you, before he cleared his throat. “Darling, are you drunk?” – “Answer the question, Tony.” – “I'm working, where are you?” His voice sounded worried. “None of your business~ you would have to find me on your own, you little stalker.” He just sighed at that. “C'mon, why do I have to sign a contract to see you?” you didn't care if there were people that could hear you. “(Y/N), where the fuck are you?” You hung up the phone. No, he wasn't allowed to see you. For some reason you were mad. You wanted to leave. Wanted to be alone again.

Walking through the streets in the middle of the night, you just tried to get back to your hotel room. But you had to find the hotel first. It felt like you were walking for hours already. A car was right behind you, following you for maybe 10 minutes, before you turned around. It stopped and the engine turned off. When the door opened, your eyes widened. “Toooonyyyy~” you threw your arms into the air. “The busy man came to save me from my misery.” When he approached you, you took a step back. He cocked an eyebrow at you, apparently not sure how yo deal with a drunk you. “What are you doing here, Tony...?” You hoped your eyes were like daggers, even though he didn’t do anything wrong actually. “I’m here to bring you home, come with me.” Again he tried to approach you and this time, he succeeded. He just grabbed you by the wrist and pulled you closer – right into his arms. “You look good today...” he whispered into your ear, before he picked you up bridal style, to carry you to the car.
