my problem is that i always end up emotionally invested in the angry abuse victim character-- the character who is always the "wrong" kind of victim. the one who lashes out and is violent, a complete juxtaposition to their sunshine/lawful good counterparts in the media.
i end up resonating too hard with these characters that i always end up on the shitty side of the fandom where people will see you as a bad person for enjoying representation of an angry victim.

people ask, whats the most important part of asoryuu? is it the homoerotic essence? the devotion? the trust? the individual personhood compatible with unconditional love and accountability? no. its susato mikotoba.
im not joking by the way the most important part of asoryuu is their family and ESPECIALLY their sisters. yes, kazuma and ryuunosuke would not be who they are without eachother. but they would not be who they are without their family either. that recognition in their own relationship, that their love is not supposed to be kept but rather shared with others, is so important. its about Healing!!! susato especially has not only grown with them but pushed them to grow as well, and vice versa with her. that is their bnuuy SISTER and the most important person in their lives im so not kidding guys. anyway happy susato saturday.

Banzai: I am not good with the little ankle biter and I hate babysitting.
Also Banzai: *understands cub Cheezi's nonverbal cues, sees the vultures eating the leftovers from the cub and gets ready to defend and scoops the little one behind him, gets absolutely furious when one of the vultures pecks Cheezi's head and is upset that he could not punish the bird properly, stands over Cheezi afterwards for protection and asks him if he is alright, asks Cheezi if he remembers them when they reunite, tells him what he used to call them and what they have been up to, gives Cheezi a playful shove and appears happy to see him again, gets upset when Cheezi does not remember them, freaks out when Cheezi's face lands in a mud puddle because he thinks he is gonna drown and immediately acts, taps Cheezi's chest after a long passionate rant, keeps scooping him closer to his side, stands over him in protection as they keep barking at the eclipse, gets mud in his eye from Cheezi by accident and after getting it out his first instinct is to look after the cub, keeps redirecting him whenever Cheezi goes the wrong way or trot by his side, eventually has enough and just picks him up*

WIP, two of my OCs. Gotta fix the hair on the shorter one.
These two are very near and dear to my heart and I have NO idea how I want to go about doing anything about putting them into the world except for random sketches lmao.
Last time I checked there was over 50k words written about them…

It’s funny. I grew up on comics, like old ones — bronze, silver, gold age. It’s so different now. There’s a complaint I remember seeing on tumblr that was something like “superhero films will be like ‘I can’t kill this man who just killed 80 people to stop him from killing 80 more or I’m just as bad as he is’ because the writers have the worst ethical takes since Kant” and it’s true. There’s so much “We can’t ever kill. It’s The Code. Anyone who ever kills, no matter why, is evil. Extreme action to end a sexual predator who kept escaping jail time, or to protect a minority group from mobs trying to kill them, makes you just as bad as the criminal; how could you.” Which IS the worst ethical take since Kant. Of course it’s not the same. Of course sometimes violence is good and fully justified, forget excusable or forgivable. But revisiting a lot of old childhood faves, I realized they weren’t always all like that. They would take the same stand, but not for the same reasons. And that changes the meaning of everything. I was looking at a Batman work, and his monologue wasn’t “I won’t kill because killing this serial killer would make me as bad as him,” or, “killing is never justified,” it was, “I represent the law. I won’t make myself judge, jury, and executioner. No power should be all three.” It was that the law’s duty is to protect and defend, and to offer people the chance for a fair trial, and rehabilitation, or if shown impossible, to at least keep them from hurting again. That he can’t be the person who hunts down criminals without consequence or oversight, and the one who decides if they deserve to live, because that kind of way of thinking and acting is everything law isn’t meant to be, and corrupts utterly, and corrupts fast. That it doesn’t matter if he thinks they deserve it, because the only person in the room not allowed to think that way is the one who signed on knowing the rules and the cost, to be the long arm of the law. And it’s not on the same level of thinking at all; it’s not in the same plane of existence.
