Oof so back in the day there were like entire posts on websites about why Kurogane and Fai were most definitely canon (there were LOTS of non-believers around believe you me) and like one particular point I remember is the dragon and phoenix symbolism that in many asian cultures means they’re like basically The Perfect Marriage, the best, made for each other, most auspicious, etc etc. So it’s not only about the phoenix, it’s- it’s also about the dragon and every time I remember I have to lay down and cry a bit. CLAMP absolutely do everything with intention. It's so uncommon to find a series where every minor detail has been so carefully crafted and tracked through each chapter with such close attention, so the big things like that are like CLAMP shaking a giant bell. It's BEAUTIFUL.

Unpopular opinions of Yuri on Ice

I think Yuri's gay, no bisexual. 

I don't ship otabek/yurio. i dont know why, but i just cant really see any chemistry between them other than friendship 

I also don't really ship Sara/Mila, mainly because there isn't a base for that.

I don't think  Victor is impulsive . I realise this is down to interpretation BUT. He seems to me the type of character who meditates his decisions in depth, only he doesn't discuss them with anyone, On the other hand, Yuri is definitely impulsive.

Viktor definitely knows how to cook, he has lived alone for a long time, so he knows how to take care of himself,

I hate it when people present Viktor as a stupid blonde, he's a genius, he's smart and creative.

Viktor does not seem as close to Chris as many believe.

Phichit and Yuri  have a completely platonic relationship.

I don't actually think Victor is that close to the other skaters, beyond distant kindness, Especially the Russian skaters, they don't seem to have minded that Victor left.

I don't think Yakov is a good father figure, Viktor definitely respects him and thinks he is the best coach, and maybe he would like to have a deeper relationship with him, but Yakov doesn't seem to be on the same page. I kind of always thought that Victor was way closer to Yakov than Yakov to him, 

I don't like how a lot of people think that Viktor should be Yurio's coach, because firstly Viktor never showed interest in being his coach, secondly, Yurio has Yakov and Lilia, and I don't think he is interested in changing coach at the moment, thirdly, Yurio does not seem to be interested in Viktor's advice and leadership, fourthly, they have a complicated relationship that would be difficult to manage in a professional relationship. and finally Viktor owes Yurio nothing.

I don't like it when people imply that yuri loses and gains weight all the time, this is not healthy or safe for a figure skater, because it will affect his center of balance and make him fall in his jumps, and seeing how Yuri is A perfectionist, I don't think he's going to risk that.

I don't think Victor is a playboy, the only reason I think he had previous relationships is because he mentioned it directly, but I don't think he had many, maybe two or three at most, so I can accept that he can be a virgin. on the other hand, even though I think Yuri is definitely a virgin, I don't like it when people imply that he doesn't know anything about sex, he is smart and lived five years in the United States, he definitely knows more about how sex works than Viktor.

Phichit and Yuri didn't go to many  parties in Detroit, as they were trying to advance their careers and did not want to jeopardize their images before their respective federations showing alcohol abuse and inappropriate behavior.

I think that Yurio's growth as a character was not well developed in the show, he needs to learn to be a more respectful competitor,  Also, Yurio already won everything and he needs to learn some humility. So I hope his next arc is about how he deals with not winning.

when Yuri retires viktor will be a choreographer and not a coach. It is not that he is a bad coach, but I think he will appreciate more the flexibility of being a choreographer, besides that this will allow him to help more skaters, than being a coach.

After Viktor retires, he and Yuri will live in Hasetsu permanently.

Minako's role in Yuri's life is greatly underrated.

So I've seen you reblogging a lot about this fujioshi war. But I've been thinking. Why is it socially accepted that men can like girl love but when girls like male love it is frowned upon ? People are crazy

Yes its kind of weird, there is this weird silence when it comes to men who produce Yuri or lesbian porn work, there is also this this silence about male Straight Fudanshi’s who product or love Yaoi work. ( I honestly never see  antis complain about heterosexual men consuming Yaoi work , they seem to get a free-pass ) 

Yaoi fangirls/Early generation Western Fujoshi’s were never populair in fandoms from the beginning, and some part that was to blame to the bad-apples in the fandom. (the yaoi paddles, the ones who screamed your homophobic for not liking this ship!!) but I have been online and involved in fandoms since early as 2004 and I have always notice this double standard. Plenty of fangirls on Deviantart and early days of fanficion who loved straight ships acted insane or crazy too, some of them shipped het ships or paired their own female character with a famous male characters and attacked people for shipping their fave character with someone else. but I never heard anyone judge the ‘’straight/ shippers/  with these bad apples. When I was involved in the Sonic shipping fandom fans were a-okay with strange and uncomfortable  age-difference ships like Tails/Rouge and Cream/Shadow, but the ones who shipped Sonic/Shadow were the ones being called pedo’s  which is just a huge double standard. (Personally I a more of a SonicxSally or Sonamy shipper myself but Sonic fans can get weird on this issue too)

What makes me sad is that Fujoshi’s used to deal with actual homophobic people in the fandom who used their views or religion to bash their fanwork and their fanfiction or even harassing people for the ships they like. I used to get negative comments how wrong homosexuality was sick and that I was disgusting for making that character gay. 

Now we have people who  harass Fujoshi’s who are not ‘’homophobic’’ but harass in the name of gay rights and its a different sort of wrong all together…I discovered this myself when I saw people bashing Fujoshi’s on a Discord of a Komahina chat group I used to be active on. But I notice one big difference, the most of the userswho did this were al very young. So I can only conclude that these young fans just ate up anything they see on tumblr anti Fujoshi’s blogs and want to feel like they do some sort of’’ justice’’ when they attack and harass Fujoshi’s. When no, bashing Fujoshi’s doesnt make you some true warrior of gay rights. Mygay male friends I have spoken too about this, dont care what yaoi is and that women like it or they love the yaoi works themselves too and dont care that the ones who consume it are women. Another irony is that a lot of these anti Fujoshi’s dont realize that a lot of their favorite works are created by Fujoshi’s (Black Butler, Yuri on Ice, every series created by CLAMP. and even open lesbian Mangaka’s like the author of ‘’My Lesbian experience with loneliness’’, is  also a Fujoshi. Its interesting to note that a lot of Japanese lesbian women are Fujoshi’s.  because Yaoi for a lot of women, gay bisexual or straight is a safe way for them to express sexual feelings without guilt or shame. The biggest problem is that the majority of lesbian and heterosexual pornographic works are made by straight men for straight men. Women in porn trough the straight male -lens is not always comfortable for women to see. With Yaoi/boys love, this isnt a problem.

and for those who think Seme and Uke are offensive, Tops and Bottom are terms that are used in the gay men and women community too. 

having said that, Fujoshi also just means a woman who loves Homosexual ships and there is nothing wrong with that. 

theres media out there that i love and that does good and bad things in the same effort and if i dont explain and warn for the bad stuff while extolling the virtues im not doing anyone any favours nothing is perfect. people can hate your perfect dream media and its not about you i will never watch yuri on ice, the fat jokes made me so unhappy, made the show unwatchable for me doesn't change that its done awesome things for gay love stories and normalising queer romance as just that, romance and doesn't change that it has some really fucked up ideas and expressions about fat bodies both are true i think that rather then 'good' representation, people should be honest about what is being represented. and not try to mollify or deny it when people who are not being represented question said media nothing is perfect, we dont have to tear everything down but we do get to ask why and we do get to ask for better

Hi there! I’m sorry that this might be incredibly old, considering they got engaged… or something? I don’t know.

Trust me that you can ship yourself with anyone you like. Married, single, gay, straight, bi, etc - as long as they’re strictly fictional. If you shipped yourself with real life people, especially strictly gay/committed guys or straight/committed women or the likes, it would make them rightly uncomfortable. Yuuri and Victor are fictional, and as long as you recognize that they’re in a same-sex relationship, there’s nothing wrong with shipping and it’s definitely not erasure, as you might feel it could be.

If I’m not wrong, Yuuri had a crush on a girl early in the series. This could very well mean he’s bisexual, and Victor hasn’t, as far as I know, stated he’s strictly attracted to guys. Even if the creators did end them up as canon, it’s not a sin to ship them with other people, including yourself! Shipping is for fun, you use it to explore the dynamic between two characters, draw art, write fanfiction, and it’s incredibly common for people to also ship 1) characters that have interacted a single time, 2) characters that haven’t interacted at all, 3) characters BOTH in committed relationships/marriage, and many other odd combinations.

All in all, this is fandom and fiction. Try not to take it to heart. There’s nothing offensive about what you do and whom you crush on, so ship away!

i have not seen anybody say “this character cannot possibly be sexually attracted to his partner”, first of all

second, I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS SHOW. IF THIS CHARACTER HAS CANON ANXIETIES, BODY ISSUES, ETC. I DID NOT KNOW AND IT IS UNFAIR OF YOU TO EXPECT ME TO KNOW 

For the millionth time, as an asian bi ace, I see no issue with other people headcanoning an asian mlm as being ace-spec. i know i dont speak for all asians, but that is my view, and you can’t make me be offended by other peoples headcanons. i have no reason to be. it’s fine if other people are, their feelings are valid, but not everyone is going to agree

again for the millionth time, who is making the headcanon matters. fine, yes if a cis heterosexual white person is headcanoning this character as ace and you find out their reasoning is essentially “gay sex is gross” yes that is homophobic. or if their reasoning is essentially “poc having sex is gross” yes that is racist. but you can’t assume that everyone thinks that!

and as I stated before, I personally think that asians are actually fetishized by society and white people in particular, so your almost insistence that it’s wrong to headcanon this asian character as anything BUT sexual kind of makes me uncomfortable and kind of is offensive to me and plays into the “asians are fetishized by society” thing. but again, thats just me. 

and you can’t really say asians are not oversexualized or fetishized, at least a little bit. especially by white people. and if you, anon, are not asian, I’m asking you to listen to me, a Real Life Asian, when I say that yes, we are, and if you won’t listen to me when it comes to this and continue to insist or imply that i don’t know what im talking about, I’m gonna have to ask you to self reflect on why you won’t listen to an asian person when it comes to how society treats and views us.
