神無月 (kan-na-zuki) "October" (archaic)

神 = god 無 = not 月 = month

The modern Japanese word for October is 十月 (literally "10th Month), however in the old-fashioned calendar is was known as 神無月, or "the month with no gods". 

In October, all the gods in Japan (there are believed to be 8 million of them) go to Izumo Shrine in Shimane Prefecture for a meeting, thus leaving most of Japan with no gods.

The Zen Diary (2022) ‘土を喰らう十二ヵ月’ dir. Yuji Nakae

(10.30.22) 1) another online class Sunday. Woke up; did a covid test; bought breakfast and went into work early to set up for my morning class. Luckily I only had a 2-hr online class in morning and another in evening. 2) spent the afternoon tackling various miscellaneous items and tasks but managed to get them all accomplished. After work, I returned home and we ordered simple take out for dinner. Then we ordered simple desserts too; showered and then relaxed 3) the next few days will most likely be online classes so I’ll just prepare tomorrow accordingly and hopefully everything resumes normal soon. For those of you who might be wondering, there has been a surge of cases lately hence some districts have stopped done-in services as well as offline classes hence the online classes including regular school in some districts.
