the kyoshi flashback in Avatar Day and the sheer scale of ba sing se in comparison to…. literally everywhere else in the world really has me thinking about the politics that lead to such distinct “nations”. it makes way more sense for a land as vast as the earth kingdom to have once been earth kingdoms with local land disputes between feudal lords - as we see with the conflict kyoshi ended - only for a world-spanning war to have driven first the lords to unite under ba sing se’s banner for protection, and then as the war continued, increasing waves and waves of refugees and oma shu standing as the only remaining hold out due to their unique position (top of a mountain - most other earth kingdom towns we see are in valleys) such would explain how many ruins and ghost towns we see throughout s2 but also the improbability of a land that big to be unified under a single leader for that long

Y’all wanna know why marginalized communities don’t want to hear about how film studios only care about diversity? I’ll explain.
INTENT vs OUTCOME. When someone gives you unsolicited advice, it irritates you even though it was from a good place, right? When someone says something that offends you, even when they weren’t trying to, are you not still offended? They didn’t mean to make you feel the way they did, but they still did and they still owe you an apology, right? It doesn’t matter what they meant or the point they were trying to make, what matters is the words that came out of their mouth and how you feel. What matters is what HAPPENS not what was SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.
People are always talking shit abt those who do community service and record to post online because there can be an argument made about only doing it for clout. To that I say, Homeless ppl are being fed, trash is being picked, who cares that you can see it on tik tok? Who cares that you’re hearing about it?
Intent doesn’t fucking matter. At the very least, it will NEVER be more important than outcome PERIOD. STOP TRYING TO CONVINCE US OTHERWISE. Poc don’t care that diverse casting is trend bcs guess what? We’re getting representation. We’re getting jobs that we were barred from. We have a bigger voice now, we have more influence, we have more power.
But you, as a white person, can’t see that nor do you give a single fuck. Nah, you just sick and tired of seeing all these ppl who don’t look like you and want it to stop. You’re uncomfortable bcs u can’t relate, not even realizing that what you’re feeling is only a fraction of the community you’re actively trying to fuck over. And you are trying to fuck us over.
Stfu with ur bs abt how these film studios don’t actually care. Do you?

The Sea Beast was as amazing as I thought it would be. Wholeheartedly adorable yet deep when the situation calls for it. And Maisie was the best heroine for the film. She was sassy, bold and had so much spirit. But the best part of the entire movie was that it started and ended with her. It never took away her voice or momentum and she maintained her position in the film rather than relinquishing it to the white male hero.
Her journey remained entirely her own and her role in the movie was not to better someone else’s story but to lead her own. Through her experiences she changed hearts and minds while always staying true to herself.

- Kanetaro (金太郎), Son of Kintaro — often made to do a bunch of heavy lifting, strong enough to lift tiny and is close friends with him, humble modest and sweet and doesnt like sticking out in a crowd, rebel
- Unabara Taro (海原太郎), Son of Urashima Taro — friends with meeshell, ANOTHER similar situation to briar where he doesnt want to lose his family after 100 years under the sea, still a ‘royal’
#since eah is p much only european stories (minus baba yaga ig they needed more named antagonists to be school staff??)#i wanted to branch out and use fairytales from other cultures for diversity! variety is the spice of life after all ✨#and (as far as i know) japanese stories are the next closest thing to fairytales#as opposed to recurring characters being used to teach different themes or a having singular character with no narrative#which the vast majority of folklore does instead (notably african which was my next go-to)#although if someone who was super interested in norse mythology made characters for eah thatd be so cool!!#as a foil to cupid and the assumed greek mythos story world she hails from#eah#ocs#oc stuff#writing#my writing#my stuff

Something just feels off about this year's songs and I think it's because everyone (well most) is being so serious about this like trying hard to invest in quality but meanwhile where's the fun the silly the weird the extravaganza the camp??
