What to expect from the stock market this week
Last week, the review of the macro market indicators saw with the first week of April in the books, equity markets looked in need of a rest. Elsewhere looked for Gold ($GLD) to continue its record run higher while Crude Oil ($USO) continued its move to the upside as well. The US Dollar Index ($DXY) continued to short term trend to the upside while US Treasuries ($TLT) might resume their downtrend. The Shanghai Composite ($ASHR) looked to continue the short term move higher while Emerging Markets ($EEM) consolidated under long term resistance.
The Volatility Index ($VXX) looked to remain low making the path easier for equity markets to the upside. Their charts also looked strong, especially on the longer timeframe. On the shorter timeframe the $QQQ was at risk for some downside with the $IWM in a messy short term uptrend and the $SPY the strongest but also seeing some profit taking show up.
The week played out with Gold continuing it run of record highs while Crude Oil met resistance and consolidated at 5½ month highs. The US Dollar found strength and pushed to 5½ month highs as well while Treasuries made new 4 month lows before a bounce Friday. The Shanghai Composite pulled back from a lower high while Emerging Markets broke down out of the rising short term channel.
Volatility rose up from a short term consolidation to the top of a rising wedge. This put pressure on equities late in the week and they responded by moving lower. This resulted in the IWM back at support which was prior resistance for 2 years, the QQQ continuing sideways in consolidation near the highs and the SPY touching a 1 month low. What does this mean for the coming week? Let’s look at some charts.
SPY Daily, $SPY
The SPY came into the week holding at the 20 day SMA on the daily chart after a pullback from the top. It held there Monday and Tuesday and then dropped below Wednesday in a reaction to the hotter than expected CPI print. Thursday saw it rise to retest the 20 day SMA and then fall back Friday to touch the 50 day SMA for the first time since the beginning of November. Price ended at the lower of the Bollinger Bands® with the RSI heading toward the bottom of the bullish zone and the MACD positive but dropping and approaching zero.
The weekly chart shows a second week headed lower, this one with a longer red candle. The RSI on this timeframe has dropped out of overbought territory with the MACD about to cross down. There is support lower at 510 and 503.50 then 501.50 and 498.50 before 495 and 491.50 with the retest of the Cup and Handle breakout at 476.75 lower. Resistance above is at 513.50 and 517.50 then 520.50 and 524.50. The 138.2% extension of the retracement of the 2022 pullback is above at 530 and then the Cup and Handle target at 560. Pullback in Uptrend.
SPY Weekly, $SPY
Heading into the April options expiration, equity markets showed some cracks in the uptrends. Elsewhere look for Gold to continue its uptrend, but with perhaps a short term pause while Crude Oil consolidates the move higher. The US Dollar Index looks to break to the upside while US Treasuries resume their downtrend. The Shanghai Composite looks to consolidate in its move higher while Emerging Markets consolidate in a broad channel.
The Volatility Index looks to continue to slow move higher keeping pressure on equity markets. The QQQ looks the strongest, especially on the longer timeframe as it consolidates while the SPY digests its strong move with a pullback. The IWM seems to have given up any chance of breaking out of the long consolidation as it falls back into the channel. Use this information as you prepare for the coming week and trad’em well.

Quintus narrowed his eyes to Cicero. Searching, he tried deciphering WHY this Frumentarii was here. He guarded his suspicion, lest Cicero become aware of his weariness.
Shaking his head, Quin turns and grabs an oil skin. He tossed the skin to Cicero, which contained water. He would be far from a “welcoming” host. Drinking once more, he walked away and peered towards the rocks surrounding Cottonwood Cove.
“The Rangers have not visited us in some days. Then again, no reason to let our guard down. I'm sure they come again. Soon."
Quin turns to Cicero once more and finally greets him properly. Introducing his name. Though, he suspected the other might already know that.
“I’m Quintus. Veteran Decanus in service of Caesar and Mars. I know what you are, except for your name.”
The various holsters and pouches on his belt clatter as Cicero shifts from one hip to the other. Obviously irritated with this Decanus' questioning and all around presence. He didn't have time to deal with the masses. But he supposed if he was 'imposing' then he owed some sort of 'pleasantries'. As unpleasant as they were to be.
The skin tossed to him is snatched rapidly from the air and looked over. Liquid. Water he presumed. Uncorking it and taking a sniff, it betrays his caution of all things. Even offerings from 'comrades'.
He takes a small sip and closes it once more, watching the other willingly turn his back to him.
Obviously he didn't know exactly who he was. As made apparent by his admission.
"They always do. Like lambs to slaughter they return to our borders where they don't belong."
The NCR coming to them is of little to no consequence. After all, he was not typically on the front lines. And regardless, it saves them the trip of walking to them didn't it?
"Decanus Quintus. 'Quin' if I recall correctly. Always a pleasure to put a face to a name I suppose.
Frumentarii Cicero. Cicero Sinclaire. 'Mouth' to Master Vulpes, who always extends his greetings alongside my own."

Thoughts one HaruMiki?(Maki x Mikan) It's a ship i just randomly thought of one day and I've shipped it since but I've never seen anyone else think of then together :(
Oooh I can see how these two can complement each other well!
Mikan’s nurturing traits would give Maki that much needed warmth she seldom gets as an assassin. Mikan isn’t much of a pusher either—she’ll always show kindness and assistance to Maki without overstepping Maki’s boundaries and allowing Maki to get more acclimated to her on her own. And, it’s not like Maki’s immune to injuries—she probably seldom ever gets them but when she does Mikan does not hesitate to thoroughly tend even the smallest of scratches!
Plus I believe that Mikan would remind Maki of her friend from the orphanage who was said to have a somewhat similar personality like Mikan’s—sensitive, kind but prone to crying and loneliness. I could easily see Maki having a sort of instinctual need to protect Mikan so that she doesn’t befall a similar fate as her friend did. This will in no doubt also result in Maki making sure Mikan stops saying all those mean things about herself because she is NOT going to tolerate hearing such blasphemy. Nor is she going to tolerate SEEING anyone even ATTEMPT to bully Mikan either.
I’d like to think that Maki still pays a visit to the orphanage from time to time and takes Mikan along with her because Mikan deals with the attention from the kids so much better and genuinely enjoys looking after them. At one point the kids start referring the Mikan as “Maki’s very special friend” and Maki’s face just burns red for the rest of the day while Mikan gets too flustered to properly respond lol.

Can I Shake Your Hand?
Allette was friends with the manager of Mugen Academy's boys' basketball team, Saya Otonashi, as she was also her fellow ace on the girls' team and so she had found out from Saya that Mugen Academy was planning a practice match with Team Seirin since Coach Seiji Kubo was always looking for the diamond in the rough which made Team Seirin look like the perfect practice candidate for Coach Kubo.
Allette would surely be around to watch the practice match but she wanted to at least talk to Kagami Taiga a bit and hold his hand. Taiga Kagami's existence was like that of the Generation of Miracles despite not being one of them much like how she can tell that Saya herself was like the Princesses of Basketball, despite not being one. She had this strange belief that if she held hands with each of the Generation of Miracles (excluding Seijūrō Akashi because she tried looking into him but did not trust him), Kagami Taiga, and Kasamatsu Yukio and memorized the feel of their hands and their warmth, it would give her the strength she needed to lead her team to victory as the most intelligent point guard.
The practice match was a close call by one point but Team Seirin won against the multi-talented sorcerers of Mugen Academy's boys' basketball team since Kagami was the better jumper compared to Kujaku Mori, the ace of the team, even with Masaru Kato, the almost look-alike cousin of Shintarō Midorima, supporting him in giving the team a lead with his shots. However, even though Allette was impressed with what she saw, she was too afraid to go up to Kagami Taiga.
Saya had to push her towards him and when she stopped in front of the ace, she said
"Hey Kagami, this is my friend, Shiratori Allette. She's my fellow ace and the point guard for the girls' team. She's kind of like the Generation of Miracles but a girl version. You can say she's kind of your fan."
Allette pouted at being called Kagami’s fan. Saya added "Do you mind talking to her a bit?"

{ The Decanus was wounded badly. His mangled arm bleeds through his meager bandages. The healing power was not strong enough. Regardless, he trained his gun on Kira. He was weak, but capable of violence. } "You . . . help me."
It wasn't a totally uncommon situation. She really needed to stop wearing identifiable markers on her person. The dirty white coat under her ragged coat wasn't the culprit this time, but the Followers of the Apocalypse emblem pinned to her sleeve.
Guns made her nervous, but it was the wolfish eyes deep set in the man's face that put her on edge.
He meant business.
"There's no need for such extremes-" She mumbles, stopping in her tracks and opening her bag. Digging for supplies.
"Sit. Tell me what I'm going to see under the dressing."
She pulls out a kit and a baggie of bandages. Might as well get this over with as soon as possible.

{ Quintus quip while resting in the shade. Lazily, he rises, standing tall. He looked upon Gabban with weary curiosity. He was not fond of Frumentarii. They did not shed enough of their blood. }
{ Though, he wanted to know what troubled him. If only, to amuse himself. He was curious on who troubled Gabban. }
“Tell me, Frumentarius, what profligates trouble you?”
It was rare to see Quintus resting like a tired and sun-beaten dog. They, like many other soldiers, worked tirelessly for the bull. Always busy, their hands hard at labor. Yet there he was in the cool shade, easing the hardship of his days with the simple reprieve of a desert tree.
The strangeness of this lazy appearance was what made Gabban speak. In fact, it was only when the other responded that he noticed he´d actually voiced his thoughts.
The frumentarius shook his head and idly popped the joint of his wrist as he stretched it. “Profligates I must work with, orders from above. Omertas. Worse than raider filth, sicker than most outsiders I´d say. I doubt you've met any. Or if you have, they must not have survived their encounter with you.”

What to expect from the stock market this week
Last week, the review of the macro market indicators saw with the First Quarter of the year in the books, equity markets exhibited strength. Elsewhere looked for Gold ($GLD) to continue its uptrend while Crude Oil ($USO) built on its move higher. The US Dollar Index ($DXY) continued to drift to the upside in consolidation while US Treasuries ($TLT) consolidated in their downtrend. The Shanghai Composite ($ASHR) looked to reverse the short term uptrend while Emerging Markets ($EEM) consolidated in a broad range.
The Volatility Index ($VXX) looked to remain very low and stable making the path easier for equity markets to the upside. Their charts looked strong, especially the $SPY on both timeframes. The $QQQ was showing some momentum divergence that could lead to more consolidation or a pullback while the $IWM looked to step up as it broke to 2 year highs.
The week played out with Gold continuing to the upside, printing 4 new all-time highs and ending the week at one while Crude Oil also continued higher making 5 month highs. The US Dollar met resistance and then held in a tight range while Treasuries continued to flirt with a new move lower. The Shanghai Composite jumped to resistance and held there through Wednesday before closing for the week while Emerging Markets are threatening to break the rising channel to the downside.
Volatility rose to 5 month highs and held there Friday. This put pressure on equities mid week and they responded with a move lower. The SPY joined the QQQ pulling back from recent tops with the IWM looking like a possible failed break out. What does this mean for the coming week? Let’s look at some charts.
SPY Daily, $SPY
The SPY came into the week just pennies off the all-time high it set the day before. It held there Monday but then gapped down Tuesday to the 20 day SMA. It held there Wednesday and then opened higher in the typical bounce Thursday back at the all-time high. But that did not hold up as 4 Fed Presidents delivered the message that rate hikes will be delayed. It fell back and printed a bearish engulfing Marubozu candle, a potential reversal. Friday, however, did not deliver another move lower, but instead an inside day to the upside had it close back over the 20 day SMA. The RSI is moving back higher after a touch at the midline with the MACD leveling and positive.
The weekly chart, however, printed a bearish engulfing candle. This comes with the RSI overbought but now pulling back and the MACD starting to roll over after a 6 month move higher. The Bollinger Bands® do continue to point higher though. There is resistance at 520.50 and 524.50 with the 138.2% extension of the retracement of the 2022 pullback at 530 then the Cup and Handle target at 560. Support lower is at 517.50 and 513.50 then 510 and 503.50 before 501.50 and 498.50. Uptrend.

{ Noticing Cicero, Quin becomes weary and suspicious. Canteen in hand, he drinks before welcoming the other. Quin was 'slightly' out of uniform, with his chest bare of armor or cloth. Scars and healed wounds decorated his chest. } "A Frumentarii in our camp? What a joyous . . . occasion. Do I even deserve to stand in your presence?"
One 'Quintus', 'Quin' to friends from what he has gathered in his small time spent at Cottonwood. In truth, Cicero was merely passing through on his way to the Fort. He'd been walking for a good long while and figured he'd take a small rest here before reporting back to his master.
But it would seem that he is a bit... unwelcome.
Not that this one could turn him away even if he thought he could.
A lot of the foot soldiers didn't like the Frumentarii. Sneaky snitches with little honor. One's who would have no qualms or question of said 'honor' while stabbing you in the back. Plus, they had plenty of perks that most wouldn't be afforded.
But this one's distaste didn't feel like jealousy.
"Joyous for you, I'm sure," He rolls his shoulders a bit, "I'll allow you to bask in it. "

Let’s Get to Know One Another
A practice match between Mugen Academy and Seirin High had been arranged and on behalf of the quirky coach of Mugen Academy’s boys’ basketball team, Saya was going to Seirin High to confirm the logistics of the appointed practice match as the manager of the boys’ basketball team. The practice match was going to be held at Mugen Academy since their school had a much bigger gymnasium and it would be done at 4:30 PM, enough time for the members of Seirin High to get over to Mugen Academy since both schools were in Tokyo.
Masaru Kato, the shooting guard of her team, was worried about her visiting Seirin High alone and so he offered to accompany her. The moment the two of them entered the school grounds, their school uniforms grabbed a bit of attention since anyone who knew Mugen Academy, knew that celebrities and multi-talented people attended their school. Anyone who was into track and field would’ve recognized Saya from her middle school track and field days before she started playing basketball. Although perhaps the glances their direction was due to the fact Masaru had an uncanny resemblance to his cousin, Shintarō Midorima! If it wasn’t for the fact Masaru was 12.7 centimeters shorter and had black hair and dark brown eyes, they’d probably be twins!
The two of them exited the office after receiving visitors’ passes and directions to the gymnasium.
“Thanks again for coming with me Masa, you didn’t have to.”
“Oh, it’s fine. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to our manager after all. Besides, if Seirin doesn’t meet me now, they’ll mistake me for my cousin later on. It’s better to clear up the confusion soon.”
Saya giggled as they continued on their way. There was a tall male with red and dark brown hair. She would admit that out of all the male basketball players she’s analyzed, she has her eyes on Kagami’s skills! Masaru on the other hand, wanted to meet the one who gave his cousin a run for his money!
Masaru remarked “Allette-chan should’ve came with us. She’s really interested in strong basketball players.”
It seemed Kasamatsu Yukio, Kagami, and the Generation of Miracles caught Allette’s attention the most.
Saya said “Well, thankfully we’ll be holding the practice match at our school so she can meet him then.” She raised a hand to get Kagami’s attention. “Hello there!”
