This is going to be controversial so buckle up. @orvis is the @yeti of fly fishing. Orvis is usually over priced but a quality product that is perfectly good but if you are already going to spend a ton of money why not buy a @scottflyrods or @hatchoutdoors . Now that being said I found this setup on Amazon for 150 bucks. It is a quality rod with a reel that is really there just to hold your line. I have some fresh water trout trips coming up and wanted a rod that wasn't a 9 weight. I really like the rod, I think orvis did a great job making a cheap fresh water setup that I can slay some trout on. Does this change my mind on Orvis? Not really, like I said they have great products but you are paying for the name. Also Orvis has come out with some really great looking stuff for the saltwater guys like me but like I said earlier it would be stupid to buy Orvis for salt water when you can get a hatch reel and a Scott rod for about the same money. I think orvis is adequate for fresh water and that is why I bought this combo.
