Daily fish fact #669
Yellow-edged lyretail!
The fish has many names, like chameleon sea bass, fairy cod, or yellow-edged coronation cod/trout/grouper. Rejecting continental shores, it prefers a habitat near islands and offshore reefs where it lives the life of a solitary predator.

Daily fish fact #716
Atlantic goliath grouper!
The wide jaws of this big fish are lined with three to five rows of tiny pointy teeth. As groupers like to swallow their prey whole in a single big gulp, these teeth in the mouth are seldom used: the grouper prefers to use heavy dental plates in the pharynx to crush any hard bits into a manageable size!
