Whose fault is that?

“If you go out like that, everyone will know.” Fukuzawa said, earning himself an immediate snort coming from his partner’s mouth.

“Everyone. As if your kid wasn’t the only person nearby, Fukuzawa-dono. You know, that kid that blew your mind because of how easily he notices everything?” Was Mori’s answer, accompanied by one of those smug smiles that drove him mad in a wide range of ways.

“And Natsume-sensei, who we are supposed to meet later tonight.”

“I bet sensei will be delighted. Or, at least, not surprised either.” There was no way to deny how high the odds of that being true were, so Fukuzawa didn’t even bother trying.

“I just think them knowing is one thing, and having visual proof is another.” Fukuzawa then added, eyeing the source of his concerns: a couple of markings over Mori’s neck. And what came next shouldn’t have surprised him, but it did.

“Aw, are you nervous?” There it was again, that smile in the doctor’s face, now ten times more intense. “My, my, if there isn’t the consequences of your own actions.” Hit and sunk, not to mention how complaining was pointless when he had served that to Mori on a silver plate; he had definitely not cared when leaving those on his partner’s skin. Or thought, by that matter.

“Alright, you win.”

“Words I never get tired of hearing.” With yet another smile, now filled with satisfaction, Mori pressed a brief kiss on his lips. “I can put something over it, though that may make the whole ordeal more obvious. Just don’t offer me that hideous scarf and we’re good.”

Breaking News! Bruce Wayne has been spotted cavorting across Paris with an unknown man. Could Gotham’s playboy prince be finally settling down?

If only they knew the truth…

           Living rich was something Barry could become accustomed to quite easily.

           Though not wealthy as he had been, Bruce’s lifestyle was still way above Barry’s means, especially since Barry had fallen from a two-income household to a no-income temporary apartment above an old corner store in Central. When Bruce sent out the alert asking for an assist on an undercover mission, Barry accepted without hesitation. Any destination would be better than where he was then. Barry lucked out when Bruce explained they were heading across the Atlantic to crash an underground auction of the Parisian elite instead of something worse, like sneaking into Darkseid’s inner sanctum on Apokolips. Even better that they’d be conducting this operation from an upscale hotel along the Seine. Bruce only had enough in his budget to afford one room, but Barry didn’t mind. It made sense with their cover as newlyweds on honeymoon.

           “You don’t mind?” Bruce had asked him this after running through the plans. He’d handed over his ticket, the fake driver’s license and passport for his new identity, except he hadn’t let go yet. “Being married to me?”

           Barry scoffed. “I could do much worse, Bruce.”

           That was a week ago. They flew back into Gotham late last night. Barry could have run to Central from the airport then, or as they left the hotel. There wasn’t anything stopping him from leaving once Bruce turned to him and said, “Mission accomplished,” either. He chose not to. Barry told Bruce that, since he already bought the ticket, and because it wasn’t often he flew first class, Barry wanted to milk the benefits of being married to him for all that it was worth. Bruce seemed to accept his answer, and his excuse about being too tired from jetlag to make the second-long run. Bruce offered Barry his guest room, too.

           “I hope I’m not putting you out.”

           “You’re not,” Bruce said, “Besides, I owe you for helping me with this.”

How to Submit a Good Portfolio

Since public applications will be opening soon, I thought I would make a simple guide on how to send a good portfolio when you apply to zines.

I’ll mostly be referring to art, since that’s what I’m most familiar with, but I’m sure a lot of these points can apply to writing as well.

A lot of my drawn commentary is meant to be lighthearted (and oh so messy), so please don’t take anything too seriously.

Tips for first-timers in Zines

Hello! I hope you don’t mind if I show your question like this @angel-of-darkness-217 ; this is something I would’ve loved to know when I started applying to zines myself, and that I’m sure it will help more people who are thinking of applying to this one.

There are many different types of zines out there; free, for charity, for profit, only for artists, focused on writers, focused on merch (like tarot projects), and with all kinds of contributors working in them. Every zine is unique, so their applications may vary, but there are a few essential things you always need to take into consideration if you want to be a contributor to one of them.

I will divide this answer into the different stages of a zine for a better organization.

Zine Applications, Portfolios, and What You Should Include

It’s your friendly moderator Deviation here with some tips, tricks, and helpful advice on what one should include when filling out Zine Applications. I’ve done my best to keep the advice here general so that it can be applied across multiple zines. 

To open, I’ve gone through well over 100 applications in my time moderating zines. In those applications, only a handful of them were what I’d consider “good” applications of which had no basis on the person’s actual skill level. 

To start, some general things to keep in mind: a full tumblr blog, a full tag, and so forth is NOT a portfolio in a professional sense. While Zines may accept them as one, and I myself accept them as portfolios, they are FAR from what a portfolio is meant to be. A tag on tumblr or an art blog, unless said item is SPECIFICALLY meant to be a portfolio, is just a mass dumping ground for all of the person’s work. It may be a beautiful dumping ground, but it’s a dumping ground nonetheless. So what is a portfolio? A Portfolio is a highly curated selection of someone’s works that demonstrate their abilities to the fullest extent. If you just provide an art tag to an academic or professional opportunity, you’re not likely to make it through the door.

Hello everyone! As applications are opening next week, the Antigravity Mod Team decided to write a post about how to build your portfolio and apply to zines, so you guys are ready to apply for ours. We’ve all wondered at some point what we should do to make our application stand out, so here we’re going to explain some tricks and rules you should follow, should you want to apply.

I’ve already written some examples of how to apply here, and here (I love rambling about zines), but I figured I could put them together for you all! And remember, most of these guidelines are suggestions, though, so don’t be afraid if you skipped some!
