I’ve been gone for awhile so I decided to do a thing:
500 notes and I’ll start working on the draft for a story I’ve been thinking about for months now.
1,000 notes and I’ll get a start on a book I’ve been meaning to read.
1,500 notes and I’ll start a book buying ban.
2,000 notes and I’ll try and form a writing routine so I can work on my story draft consistently.

Instead of shaming myself into productivity and discpline, I‘ve decided to love myself into it. The reasoning for me doing things will from now on always be: „I love myself and I deserve to reap the rewards of this action (and I love myself too much to deal with the disappointment that comes with not keeping my own promises.)

My two goals for today:
- Learn everything there is to know about everything that's ever existed.
- Make some coffee.

A piece of writing advice I've always fucking hated is "only add things that further the plot." Because no. Add stuff for fun. Give your mom a cameo. Have these characters be in love because. And yes, have characters die because. There doesn't have to be a reason for everything. The universe doesn't give a reason for everything. Why should you? And if you never add stuff for fun, you're never going to have fun.

Three Ways to Combat Burnout:
Take a break! Burnout is a signal that you need to rest. Take some time off if you can.
If you can’t take a break for whatever reason, try working on a smaller scale. Do shorter work intervals and longer breaks. I like to do 15 minutes of work with a 10 minute break when I’m feeling tired or unmotivated.
Change locations. Seriously, going from one room to another provides serious inspiration and motivation. Try it out if you can!

Anyone ever start writing but get distracted by how pretty a character’s name is?
That’s happening to me rn.

I can't stress this enough. Not everyone has the capacity to study for long periods with no other stimuli. People always say that doing two things at once is bad for productivity, but as someone who has never experienced what it is like to have a "normal" brain, I can't focus without multiple stimuli.
I need people to remember that everyone has different needs. Telling people that they are studying wrong is rude, and there is no way that you know whether that works or not because you aren't the same person. If people find something that works for them, support them, and don't tell them they are wrong. All you are gonna do is make them think that they aren't allowed to adjust things to fit them. You are causing more harm than good.

Clear your workspace
Get those materials out (pens, highlighters, notebooks, etc.)
Turn on some music or ambience or even some study vlogs: whatever keeps you motivated
Open that word document
Get the pomodoro timer started (if that works for you)
Study for that test
Review
Write
Get it done.
