I'm currently watching Chernobyl for the... fifth time? sixth time? Idk I lost count lol. And I wanted to share one of my favourite shots in terms of storytelling.
At the start of Please remain calm, in the helicopter scene, a distraught Valery shows that the presence of graphite on the roof of the power station is proof that the reactor core is in the open air. Boris replies "I can't see how you can tell that from here". And just as he says this, we get this shot in which daylight shines only on his eyes; he's literally blinded.
Knowing that Boris is the allegory of Soviet bureaucracy, I find this attention to details incredible.
