BLOG UPDATE
Hello Everyone!! I'll be moving my blog work over to @geekedoutbunny I made a side blog simply because I felt that I couldn't hyperfocus on one anime/show and then suddenly write for another, but the reality is, I can. I don't know why I thought that I couldn't but I can, so if you see my work appearing on another blog don't worry, it's just me.
So all of my work will be reposted on @geekedoutbunny

yo being black and depressed is hard as fuck. being black with anxiety is hard as fuck. being black with a chronic illness or disability is hard a fuck. everybody expects you to be ‘strong’ at all times and no one sees black people as complex or nuanced enough to be capable of suffering. no one ever thinks we could possibly need help. and if you’re a black woman, the moment you stop thinking about others and try to tend to yourself you’re a selfish lazy ungrateful bitch.
support black people, esp women, who need help. don’t just call us strong or tell us we’ll get through it, help us. protect us. uplift us. allow us to be beings capable of suffering. give us the same space you’d give white women to express our pain and be there for us like you would for anyone else.

I'm taking a break on my Inuyasha x Half-Demon Adoptive Mother Reader story, only because I've lost inspiration for it, but in turn, I gained a sudden brain rot for Jujutsu Kaisen and the ideas got to rollin. So I'll be making cute little short stories based on Jujutsu until the inspiration comes back for Inuyasha. Little short stories can be with any character and with any pairing.

You were sitting in your room by your lonesome as you quietly sipped your tea. You wore an elegant kimono draped over your white one, as you rested on your bedding. The candle was the only light source in the darkened room. You sighed to yourself, as you soaked in the gentle aroma of your tea.
Your strength has come back, and you’ve been able to manage around the castle on your own, but you preferred Kohaku’s ever-sweet presents with you. You smiled as you thought of him, he was such a sweet boy. The sound of a light knocking against the shogi doors brought you from your thoughts, and you looked over at them. “Come in.” You said.
The gentle voice of Kohaku sounded through and your smile spread. He slid open the doors and you smiled sweetly at him. He smiled in return as he placed a tray with food on the floor of your room, before he moved to close the door behind him. “Good evening, Kohaku. How are you?” You kindly asked him. He smiled as he walked to you with the tray. “I’ve been well, Miss (Y/N). I’ve just been busy around the castle is all.” He answered kindly as he moved to sit before you. You smiled at his answer, as you watched him place your tray before you. “I’m pleased to hear that. Thank you, Kohaku.” You kindly said.
“It’s no problem at all, Miss (Y/N).” He replied as he sat with his knees tucked under him. You smiled at him before you looked down at your food, it wasn’t anything special, just a bowl of rice, a grilled fish, and two boiled eggs. You looked up at him in question. “Are you hungry, Kohaku?” You asked him. His eyes widen some at your question. “Umm, I am a little hungry, but I’ll eat later.” He said with a sheepish smile. You gave him a concerned look before you picked up a boiled egg and you offered it to him.
“Here, eat this, and once you’re done you can have some rice too.” You said. He shook his head as he held his hand up. “Oh no, I can’t. That’s for you Miss (Y/N).” He said. Your face went stern as you pushed the boiled egg toward his hand. “I understand that, but you work so hard around here, you deserve a well-earned break, so please eat.” You pleaded with a stern voice. He stared at you with a worried look before he looked down at the egg and he sighed in defeat before he took the egg.
You smiled in triumph as you picked up the bowl of rice. “Once you’ve finished your egg, you may eat some rice too.” You said. He nodded as he took a bite from the egg. You smiled tenderly at him, happy to see him eating. He devoured his egg quickly before he greedily picked up the bowl of rice and he began shoving it down his throat. You smiled fondly at him as you picked up your tea cup and you moved to hand it to him. “Here, drink something before you choke.” You said with a slight chuckle.
He stopped eating the rice, as his face flushed red with embarrassment. He placed the bowl down and he took the cup of tea. You smiled sweetly at him as you watched him eat your whole meal. But you didn’t mind. ‘He’s such a hard worker, he takes his job so seriously till he doesn’t even eat much.’ You thought. You smiled to yourself in thought as you looked down at your lap. ‘He’s such a sweet boy, he reminds me of Inuyasha when he was a young boy.’ You thought.
Your eyes suddenly flashed worriedly as you looked off to your side. ‘I hope he's fairing well. I know he's strong but I can't but worry.' You thought. Your cheeks suddenly warmed as you thought of the young lord of the castle. 'It’ll come as an unwelcoming surprise if he finds out that I’ve fallen in love with the young lord of this house.’ You thought worriedly. ‘But maybe he won’t mind so much, after all, he’s a half-demon just like himself.’ You thought hopefully.
The sound of wooden dishes being placed down made you snap from your thoughts and you smiled at Kohaku as he let out a contented sigh. “Ah! That hit the spot.” He said as he rubbed his stomach. You chuckled at him sweetly. “I’m glad that you enjoyed it, I hope you eat more often like this, Kohaku. I worry for you.” You said. He smiled at you. “I’ll try, Miss (Y/N).” He promised. You smiled as you nodded at him.

Inuyasha and the group were moving quickly through the woods. Inuyasha had recently caught the scent of Oak Trees and Miasma, and he immediately jumped into action and everyone followed. Kagome was forced to ride on Kirara since Inuyasha just suddenly took off, but she couldn’t blame him, his mom was in danger. If her mom was in the same predicament, she'd do the same thing. It was a pretty silent chase, not much could be said about the situation at hand.
Inuyasha’s solid focus was on keeping the scent as he ran and glided through the forest. ‘Don’t worry Mom, I’m coming to save you.’ He determinedly thought. He blinked in shock and confusion when a familiar scent rolled through. He looked towards his right, and he looked towards his left, but he didn’t see anything. ‘Why do I smell Sesshomaru nearby?’ He thought in confusion as he continued his chase.
Sango, Miroku, Kagome, and Shippo all sat in silence as they followed Inuyasha from above on Kirara. Kirara suddenly growled in warning as she looked back causing everyone else to react. “What’s the matter, Kirara?” Sango asked in concern as she looked at her companion. “What’s wrong, Sango?” Miroku asked as he looked around at Sango.
She looked back at him in confusion and worry. “I don’t know, but Kirara is reacting to something.” She explained worriedly, her eyes trailed passed everyone and her eyes widen. “Huh? What’s he doing here?” She asked in confusion. Everyone looked at her in question before they all followed her gaze behind them. Their eyes widen when they noticed that they were being trailed.
“What in the world?” Miroku asked in shock. “It’s Sesshomaru!?” Kagome called out loudly in confusion. Her voice caused Inuyasha to look back and he narrowed his sight on Sesshomaru. 'There he is. I knew I smelled him.' Inuyasha thought. Sesshomaru was flying behind the group, his impassive face dead set as he shot through the sky like a comet. “What’s he doing here?” Shippo asked in a frightened voice. “I’m not sure, but it probably has something to do with (Y/N).” Mirkou said.
“He must be following the same scent as Inuyasha.” Kagome said. Sesshomaru paid them no mind as he sped past them, the speed at which he traveled caused a whipping wind to pass by the group. They all closed their eyes as they hung on tightly to one another so as to not be blown away. Kirara growled in struggle as she fought against the powerful winds that pushed her back causing her to fall back some. “KIRARA!! ARE YOU OKAY!?” Sango yelled in worried as she felt Kirara give slightly under the wind.
Inuyasha growled in worry as he watched his friends struggle against the winds before he glared over at Sesshomaru. “What the hell are you doing, Sesshomaru? If it’s anyone who's going to take out Naraku, it’s going to be me.” He declared as he ran, keeping up with Sesshomaru's speed. Sesshomaru said nothing, as he kept focus on the sight in front of him. His eyes were glossed over with rage as he practically ignored Inuyasha. Inuyasha’s annoyed stare turned into a confused one before his glare softened some before he looked ahead of himself once more.
“Listen, I get it, you’re upset about Mom getting taken by that creep, but we’ll get her back.” Inuyasha said, trying to comfort Sesshomaru while also reassuring himself. He was feeling rather antsy, he was honestly nervous about it all. Sesshomaru glanced over at Inuyasha for a second before he looked back ahead. “Hmph, that woman is of no concern to me. I am simply here to defeat Naraku.” He scoffed. Inuyasha scoffed in return. “Huun, don’t give me that load of crap, you’re just as worried as I am, face it Sesshomaru, you’re here to save mom just like I am.” Inuyasha said. Sesshomaru scowled but he didn’t say anything in return.
The group flew behind the brothers, listening to the two as they conversed. “So, Sesshomaru knows of (Y/N)’s abduction.” Miroku noted. Sango nodded before she looked back at him. “Yes, but I’m not sure how, unless Kagura spoke to him just as she did to us.” She said. Miroku nodded. “Yes, that would make the most sense. Kagura needs as many people as she can get to help her obtain her freedom.” He said.
Sango nodded in agreement. Kagome looked down at the brothers with a thoughtful look. “Yeah, but how did Kagura know that she had any kind of connections to Sesshomaru?” She asked. They both looked back at her in shock. “That’s a good question.” Sango said. Miroku nodded. “It is, it does hold some concern. I now wonder how much of what Kagura told us was true.” He said as he thought over what Kagura told them a few nights ago.
“Yes, like if this Kusho Pearl even exists.” Sango agreed. Kagome spoke up. “I think it does.” She said. They both looked back at her in question. “Oh? How do you figure?” Sango asked. “Well, if she was lying, she wouldn’t of have sounded so hopeful. Don’t forget, she wants Naraku dead just as much as we do.” She said. Miroku nodded. “That’s true, she would have no reason to lie about the Pearl then.” He confirmed. “The question that now remains, is how did she know that (Y/N) even had any sort of connections to Sesshomaru.” Sango said. Everyone grew silent as they thought it over to themselves.

In the rocky mountains, a group of wolves could be seen running along with Ginta and Hakkaku, they were all breathing heavily as they ran through the mountains that lead towards the woods. “KOGA!!” Ginta yelled in exhaustion. “WAIT...FOR US!!!” Hakkaku yelled as they both tiredly jogged. They could see a twister that was a few yards away from them before it vanished into the woods.
They came to a stop, as they leaned over, their hands on their knees as they caught their breaths. “What’s got him… so wired up?” Hakkaku panted. “I don’t know… something about Naraku maybe.” Ginta panted. Koga ran ahead, a determined glare on his face as he charged through the forest. ‘Naraku, you bastard. I’ve finally caught a whiff of your disgusting scent. You’re mine this time.’ He thought as he raced through the forest. In the sky,
Kagura floated on her feather, as she stared down in wonder. ‘So Koga is in on the hunt too is he? I wasn’t expecting this, but the more the merrier as they say. With Naraku’s sudden change in plan, this is perfect.’ She thought, pleased with the outcome. ‘I was about to change tactics, but this should work out just fine.’ She thought before she flew off in the same direction that Koga was heading in. ‘With this amount of people, we might just have a chance to actually defeat Naraku.’ She thought as her eyes gleamed in unpromised triumph.

In Naraku’s castle, the Kusho Pearl gleamed a dark purple aura, the Jewel shard reacting in kind as it shined its own pure aura. Elsewhere in the castle, Kohaku walked with you down the many halls of the castle. “This castle is ever so gloomy.” You suddenly stated. Kohaku nodded in agreement. “It truly is.” He said. You sighed as you stared at the darkened hall before you. “I wonder, if perhaps the young lord will allow me to decorate the walls with some life?” You pondered aloud.
Kohaku looked over at you with a kind smile. “It’s hard to say, but it doesn’t hurt to ask him.” He said, as he encouraged you. You smiled over at him. “Ask me what?” Came Naraku's smooth voice. You both looked forward, seeing Naraku walking down the hall towards you both, Kanna walked behind him silently, her mirror shining a white light before it went back to being a reflective surface.
Kohaku straightened up in slight nervousness while your cheeks warmed and you bowed your head bashfully. “Oh, um..well my Lord. I was wondering...” You said shyly before you tailed off. Naraku stared at you for a moment before he walked forward toward you. He stopped before you, his socks coming into your field of vision but you didn’t look up. “I’m sorry, but I can’t quite hear you. You’ll have to speak up some, Milady.” He said politely.
You slowly looked up at him bashfully. “Well… I was just speaking to Kohaku, and I wanted to know if that, I perhaps could decorate the castle some.” You said shyly. He stared down at you, his eyes studied you with question before he smiled kindly. “You may, but what did you have in mind?” He asked. He honestly could care less, but he had to make your heart swoon for him completely.
You beamed up at him happily before you began to give him a list of ideas. He watched you intensely, not really focusing on what you were saying. He focused on the familiar aura of Onigumo’s aura that was leaking from you. It grew some since he last saw you. ‘Ah, so my plan is working after all, is it? I thought that perhaps it wouldn’t take hold, but alas, her half-human heart soaked in that ridiculous emotion like a sponge.”
He gave a small smirk in triumph as he ‘listened’ to your ideas for the castle. ‘Inuyasha will be most ‘pleasantly’ surprised when he discovers that his mother is loyal to me. Her heart beats for me, just as strongly as it does for him.’ He thought, as he placed his hand gently against the small of your back, leading you along with him as he nodded to your silly ideas. Kohaku stared after the two of your figures in concern for your well-being.
Kanna walked slowly pass him, as she kept up with Naraku. Kohaku looked over at her, watching as she slowly passed by him. He sighed before he decided to follow as well. The darkness of the castle swallowed you all, as your happy voice carried out through the darkness of the castle.

It’s been a few days since you’ve been bedridden, and during those few days, the sweet boy named Kohaku was always with you. He enjoyed talking to you and you enjoyed his company. Sometimes he’d aid you in walking around the castle, showing you around the dark maze. You once asked him why it was so dark, and his only answer. “Some of the demons within the walls have a hard time with sunlight.” He explained. You understood, being half-demon yourself, you knew of a few demons who preferred the dark. Kohaku always kept a good grip on you, helping you to walk, you couldn’t understand why you were feeling so weak lately.
You were more hungry, more weaker, and more restless. It was almost like your human side was stronger than your demonic side, you just couldn’t make sense of it. Your hearing wasn’t as good as it used to be, and neither was your sense of smell. You were worried that perhaps that maybe you were dying, but that wouldn’t make sense. Something was wrong. As you both walked down the hall, he stopped you from walking any further. The sudden stop pulled you from your thoughts, making you look over at him. “Kohaku? What’s wrong?” You asked him. He stared ahead of himself with a cautious look. You stared at him a bit longer, before you looked ahead. There, you saw Kanna.
“Oh, why hello there, Kanna.” You said kindly, as you smiled at her. She didn’t say anything, she just stood there, her little mirror snug in her wrist and hands. Seeing the mirror made you shiver, and your instincts told you to run, but you didn’t know why. You pushed the feeling down, but you kept a mental note of it. “Thank you for saving me from my own clumsiness from the fields. I’m usually more aware than that, I’m grateful for you and your sister.” You said, deep gratitude in your smile. She remained silent, you thought that she wouldn’t say anything, but you were shocked when she bowed her head very slightly. “You’re welcome.” She softly said. You gave her a smile. “Do you wish to walk with me and Kohaku?” You asked.
Kohaku looked over at you for a moment before he looked back over at Kanna. She remained stoic, her face held no emotion, and it reminded you of Sesshomaru when he was a boy. Your smile became fond before a confused look came upon your face. ‘I feel like I’ve met her before, and that I had that exact same thought… but from where?’ You thought, as a strong sense of Dija Vu came over you. You were pulled from your thoughts when soft footsteps sounded and you looked up. You saw Kanna walking slowly towards yourself and Kohaku, and the sense of panic filled you. ‘Why am I scared? Why do I want to run?’ You thought, as your eyes trailed down to her mirror. Panic filled you and you took a hesitant step back. Kohaku’s grip on you tightened and he looked back at you with a worried look.
“Miss (Y/N)? What’s wrong?” He asked worriedly as he saw the look of fear on your face. ‘I need to run… I need to make great distance.’ Your panic-filled mind thought as you took another step back. “Miss (Y/N)?” Kohaku questioned in worry, his face brightening in realization before he looked back at Kanna. ‘Is she afraid of Kanna?’ He thought as he watched her get closer. ‘No, because if she was she wouldn’t have offered her to walk with us.’ He thought as he examined Kanna. The feeling of you tugging back brought his attention back to you, and he could see your eyes were glued to Kanna, but you weren’t looking at her. He examined you for a bit, before he looked back at Kanna.
‘What is it that’s frightening her?’ He thought in confusion as he eyed Kanna. His eyes suddenly landed on the mirror and he gaped in understanding. ‘The mirror! It’s the mirror that’s making her so scared.’ He thought, as he looked back over at you. Your strength was slightly increasing, making Kohaku dig his heel into the floorboards. ‘Does she remember Kanna’s mirror?’ He thought. He was pulled from them when you gave a sudden strong tuck, and he cried out when he nearly went flying as you took off into a struggled jog, Kohaku’s added weight behind you made you slow, but you couldn’t care less. ‘I have to get away. That mirror is evil.’ You thought as you slightly jogged with a struggling Kohaku.
Kanna stopped her walking when she saw both you and Kohaku walk down the hall and around the corner. She stayed there for a moment, staring at where you both rounded at, before she looked down at her mirror. “Does she remember my mirror? That shouldn’t be possible. Unless it’s a deeply rooted fear.” She said in a soft voice.
Both you and Kohaku walked for a moment before you calmed down, and Kohaku was able to drag you to a stop. You panted in exhaustion as you leaned against the wall. Kohaku stared up at you in worry. “I’m sorry Miss (Y/N). I should’ve just let you walk away and not forced you to stay.” He said in an apologetic voice. You shook your head at his words. “Don’t apologize, Kohaku. You did nothing wrong. I just ran away was all.”
You said as you slowly regained your breath back. ‘Man, I haven’t been this out of breath in a long time.’ You thought tiredly as you focused on breathing. Kohaku stared at you in continued worry. “You should rest, you don’t sound too good.” He said. You smiled over at him, before you stood up straight. “No need, I’m already feeling better, come Kohaku, take me to another place in the castle, will you?” You kindly asked him as you shined him a sweet smile, calming his worries.
He stared at you for a moment before he nodded his head and he smiled back. “Okay, but tell me if you need to rest.” He said. You nodded at his words, and he once more lead you through the castle. Truth be told, you didn’t want to go back to your room just yet, you’ve been in there for days, and seeing the same walls over and over was making you claustrophobic. As you both walked, your mind wandered to Kanna.
‘Her Mirror, there’s something about it that makes it evil, but I can’t remember why. Why can’t I remember?’ You thought in slight annoyance. ‘I’ve been having a really hard time remembering certain things recently. Like Inuyasha’s friend… I can’t remember her name… I can’t even put a face to her. I remember Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, and even Kirara, ... but… I can’t remember the young woman. Why?’ You thought, as worry began to consume you.
‘Something isn’t right, I need to figure out what's happening to me.’ You though in determination as you and Kohaku faded into the darkness of the castle.

Kagura sat in a tree, her eyes like that of a predator as she stared down at Inuyasha and his friends resting around a campfire. It was a half moon tonight, no clouds could be seen in the night sky. She observed them for a moment, thinking of how she should approach them. ‘I want to form an alliance, not a deceleration of war.’ she thought as she calculated how to go about this. ‘Naraku wanted me to taunt Inuyasha about his mother’s whereabouts, but any mention of the woman might set him off wrongly.’ She thought as she tapped her fan lightly against her chin. ‘After all, I’m not even supposed to know of the woman’s existence.’ She thought, her mind racing for ways on how to approach. Her eyes widen in realization, before she smirked. ‘Yes, that shall do just fine.’ She thought smugly as she lowered her fan.
“My, my, my… Inuyasha and his band of heroes. Catching some Z's I see.” She said in a taunting manner. Inuyasha and everyone became on high alert immediately at the sound of her voice. Inuyasha stood in front of the group. ‘Their great protector.’ Kagura thought as she mentally rolled her eyes. ‘Spare me.’ She thought. She was pulled from her thoughts once Inuyasha spoke. “Kagura! The hell are you doing here!?” He asked in a defensive tone. She played her role and she smirked. “Calm down, dog boy, I’m not here for a fight.” She said. He seemed to back down some, and he stared up at her in question. “Then what the hell are you here for? Because I’m pretty sure it's nothing good.” He said in annoyance.
She chuckled at him. “My, don’t you just know me so well.” She taunted. Inuyasha bared his fangs at her, but before he could say anything, Miroku chimed in. “What business is it that you’ve come with today, Kagura? You said that you weren’t here for a fight, so why did you come?” Miroku asked. She smirked down at him. “Ever level-headed, Monk. More level-headed than that oversize mutt.” She said, amusement in her voice. Inuyasha growled at her in annoyance. “You wanna come down here and say that to my face, Kagura!?” He shouted in anger. She snatched her head off. “Please, and let you maul me? No thanks.” She scoffed. Inuyasha ticked with anger, but Miroku held his arm out in front of him, catching Inuyasha’s attention.
“Try not to let her rally you up, she’s just toying with you.” He said in a leveled voice. Inuyasha looked up at her with a heated glare before he huffed and he pushed Miroku’s hand away from him. “She’s not rallying anything up.” He said, but he calmed himself non the less. Kagura frowned in slight displeasure, as she enjoyed toying with Inuyasha, he was always so fun to mess with, but oh well, time for business.
“Hmph, no fun are you, monk. But no matter, I have a proposal to make with you lot.” She said in a serious matter. Everyone looked up at her in shock. “What did she just say?” Kagome asked. “A proposal of some kind.” Sango answered. Inuyasha glared up at her. “What kind of bullcrap are you trying to pull, Kagura?” Inuyasha growled out. She scoffed as she held her chin up at him. “There is no trickery this time. I’m here to ask for an alliance, a truce if you will.” She said.
Miroku spoke up. “If this isn’t a trick, then what kind of alliance is this? What will we get out of it?” He asked. She smirked. “Trust me, you’ll want to join forces with me once you learn of what we’ve captured. Or more like, who.” She said in an alluring tone. Everyone stared at her in confusion. “What are you on about, Kagura?” Miroku asked. She stared down at him with a serious look. “It’s simple really, Naraku has captured someone who he suspects has ties to you all, but I’m going to break her free, and kill Naraku once and for all.” She said as a determined glare came over her face. Everyone stared up at her in confused silence before Inuyasha spoke up. “So let me get this straight. You want us to help you bail this person out, who you claim has some kind of ties to us? Then you want to kill Naruaku? Somethings fishy about this.” Inuyasha said in a skeptical voice.
“Yeah, how can we trust you?” Kagome said. Kagura smirked, she wasn’t swayed by their questions. “Because you lot and I want the same thing. To see Naraku dead. And besides, you’ll have the jewel and you'll get back the woman too.” She said. Shippo jumped up on Kagome’s shoulder. “What woman?” He asked. “Yes, you said we know her.” Sango said.
Kagura leaned back against the tree as she stared at her nails with a faked uninterested in the topic of the woman. “Oh I don’t know, some random lowly half-demoness.” She said. A cold air blew over the group as a heavy silence waved through them all. “A half-demoness?” Miroku asked, dread in his voice. “You guys don’t think.” Kagome said in worry as she looked at Sango. “I hope not.” Sango said in equal worry. Inuyasha’s head was lowered and his shoulders shook, his fangs bared as he clenched his fists.
Everyone looked over at him in worry. “Inuyasha.” Kagome said in worry as she stared at his back. “What’s her name?” He asked in a low growl. Kagura looked down at him with an arched brow. “What was that?” She asked as she tilted her head some, as to act as if she didn’t hear him. He snatched his head up at her, the rage in his eyes causing her to slyly smirk. ‘Gotcha.’ She thought in success. “DON’T FUCK WITH ME, KAGURA!! I ASKED FOR HER DAMN NAME!!!” He shouted in rage as he glared daggers at her. She faked annoyance at his words. “Hmph, all you half-demons are alike. So human, with your sentimentalism.” She scoffed. His glare worsened and she gave under it. She crossed her arms and gave him an uninterested stare as she arched her brow. “From what Naraku told me, he said that her name was (Y/N).” She said.
Everyone’s eyes widen as their fears came true. Inuyasha’s glare loosened up into a shocked expression, as dread filled him replacing his anger. “Oh no, not (Y/N).” Shippo sadly said. “What could Naraku possibly want from her?” Sango asked. Everyone stayed silent for a moment before Inuyasha angrily spoke up. “Isn’t it obvious? He wants her because he’s trying to hurt me. That bastard Naraku. I hate his damn guts!!” Inuyasha yelled as he stared down at the ground in rage.
He was mad at everything right now. He was mad a Kagura for telling him, he was mad at his friends for wanting to leave for the stupid jewel, but most of all… he was angry with himself. He was blaming himself for his mom’s kidnapping. ‘If only I had been more cautious, then maybe… maybe...’ He thought as he wallowed in his self-hatred, but a heavy hand landed on his shoulder and he looked over.
Miroku was staring at him with a look of understanding. “Don’t beat yourself up, Inuyasha. Besides, we’re all angry and hurting for her involvement.” He comfortingly said. Inuyasha stared at him for a moment, before he looked back at his friends. He could see that they all had a mixture of saddness and rage on their faces as they blamed themselves for your safety. He stared at them a little longer before his glare returned and he turned towards Kagura.
He looked up at her with a determined gleam. “Alright Kagura, you got yourself an alliance!” He said. She smirked in victory, but he continued. “But don’t forget, just because we’re working together doesn’t make us a team! Ya got that!?” He said. She rolled her eyes at him. “Oh hush, don’t think so little of me. I wasn’t even expecting a friendship with you lot to begin with. I just want my freedom, and for Naraku to breathe his last miserable breath.” She said with venom in her voice.
“You said that if we freed (Y/N), then it will lead to Naraku’s death. What did you mean by that?” Miroku asked. Everyone looked up at her in question. “Simple. Naraku has obtained possession of the Kusho Pearl, and the only way to wield it, is with the power of the Shikon Jewel.” She explained. Everyone stared up at her in curiosity. “The Kusho Pearl?” Kagome asked. Sango shook her head. “I never hear of it.” She said. Miroku nodded. “Neither have I.” He admitted.
Inuyasha chimed in. “The hell is the Kusho Pearl?” He asked. “The Kusho Pearl is a powerful object. It’s said to harbor a hundred worlds in its black void.” She explained as she took a seat on the branch. Everyone marveled at the words she just spoke. “A hundred worlds?” Sango asked in disbelief. “That’s just as powerful as the Jewel itself.” Kagome said. “What the hell does that have to do with Mom!?” Inuyasha asked impatiently. “It has to do with her greatly.”Kagura said. Kagome spoke up. “What does that mean?” She asked.
“The Kusho Pearl is currently holding some of (Y/N)’s memories, as well as half of her soul.” She explained. Everyone gaped at her words, the air became heavy once more as they stared up at her silently. Kagura continued. “In order for Naraku to use the Kusho Pearl, he needs the power of the jewel to use it. He implanted a fragment of the jewel into her back, allowing him to connect the Kusho Pearl to her being.” Kagura explained. Inuyasha growled. “That Bastard, I’ll rip him to shreds. Messing with Kikyo was one thing, but my Mom is a whole new level.”
Inuyasha spoke in rage as he shook his head. Miroku looked over to Inuyasha for a moment before he looked back up at her. “How is freeing (Y/N) going to put an end to Naraku?” He asked. Kagura smirked. “Because without the shard in her back, Naraku will no longer have the proper connection to control the Kusho Pearl. Once we free her from Naraku’s grasp, the Kusho Pearl will turn on Naraku, sucking him into its inky depths as payment for trying to wield it.” She explained.
Everyone’s eyes widen at her words. “So in other words, Naraku has no real power over the Pearl, it has power over him?” Sango asked. Kagura’s smirk widens. “Bingo. The Kusho Pearl will kill Naraku, once the shard from (Y/N)’s back is removed.” She explained. Shippo chimed in. “Meaning that Naraku has no control over what the Kusho Pearl will absorb!!” He said. Everyone looked back at Shippo with a shocked face. He looked bewildered at everyone. “What?” He sheepishly yet confusingly asked.
Kagura stared down at him with a bemused look before she smirked once more as she closed her eyes in satisfaction. “I couldn’t have said it better myself.” She said before she stood up on the branch. Inuyasha looked up at her. “Where are you going, Kagura?” He asked. She looked over at him. “Where do you think? I’m going back to the castle. If I remain out for too long then Naraku will become suspicious.” She said in an annoyed voice.
Inuyasha glared at her, but he didn’t say anything else. With all of their silence, she took this as her time to leave. She snapped her fan open. “Oh, and one more thing.” She suddenly said. Everyone looked at her with expectancy. “The only one who can touch the Kusho Pearl is Kagome, so once Naraku is sealed within the Kusho Pearl it’ll be up to you to destroy it.” She said. Kagome’s eyes widen in slight panic. “But How am I supposed to break it?” She asked. Kagura shrugged. “Beats me, just do it how you broke the jewel.” She said carelessly before with an elegant swing of her arm she was surrounded by wind. Her voice however rang out through it. “I’ll be waiting for you lot at the castle, follow the scent of Oak Tress and Miasma.” She said before she completely vanished.
Everyone stared at the place where she was last seen before they were all pulled from their thoughts at Inuyasha. “Damn you, Naraku.” He said in a soft voice as he clenched his fists to his side. They all stared at him in worry, as they thought over what Kagura said.
✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩ͯ•͙͙✧⃝•͙͙✩ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ
Deep in the forest, not too far from where Inuyasha and his friends are camping for the night at, stood Sesshomaru. He was looking up at the half-moon, a thoughtless look on his face as he seemed to just bask in the light of the moon. Rin, Jaken, and A-Un were nowhere in sight, but they were at a camp not too far away. The wind blew by, and Sesshomaru looked over to his left. He watched as a tornado formed and the scent of Naraku filled the air. His eyes slightly narrowed but not with a threat. The tornado broke and Kagura was seen kneeling. ‘I have a bit more time to be out here, I might as well use it to try and convince Sesshomaru to aid me.’ She thought as she observed him.
He stared at her for a bit longer before he turned towards her. “What is it that you’ve come to bother this Sesshomaru with this time, Kagura?” He asked, his tone holding no expression, but she knew he was curious. She stood up straight, before she smirked. “I’m here for a proposal for you, Sesshomaru.” She said. He stared at her in silence and she continued. “I want to form an alliance with you, to kill Naraku once and for all.” She said in an alluring tune.
He didn’t react to her words, but he did ask. “And what proposal have you come with? For this Sesshomaru needs no alliance to slay Naraku.” He arrogantly said with disinterest. She wasn’t deterred by his words, and he seemed to notice this. She gave him a relaxed smirk. “Don't worry, I won’t be helping you to kill Naraku, you’ll have the honors to do that, alone. No, what I came with, will be even more alluring to your interest.” She said.
His brow twitched, and her smirk widen some. “Naraku has captured a woman, whom has quite the connection to you, and with her rescue, you shall be able to slay Naraku once and for all.” She said. He stared at her for a moment before he scoffed. “No woman means any importance to me.” Kagura wasn't bothered by his answer, and it showed as she never lost her smirk.
This caused Sesshomaru to be slightly irked, but he remained passive. “I have no time for your silly schemes, Kagura. Leave now, before I slay you.” He said as he turned back to where his companions lay, ready to walk away. But Kagura chuckled “Oh, I’d second think that thought, Sesshomaru, this certain Half-Demoness has quite the tie to you.” She said, expressing the word ‘Half-Demoness’. He stopped in his track, his eyes widen and he turned to look at her.
“Half-Demoness, you say?” He asked with intrest. Kagura’s eyes gleamed in the moonlight as she smirked mischievously. ‘Gotcha.’ She thought in triumph.
✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩ͯ•͙͙✧⃝•͙͙✩ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ
Kagura walked through the dark halls of the castle, her face was expressionless as she stared ahead of herself. ‘Sesshomaru will come when Inuyasha does, however, If he comes before Inuyasha does, then Naraku will immediately know of my betrayal.’ She thought as she walked. She stopped and took a look of shock when she saw Kohaku exit Naraku’s room. She watched him with a thoughtful look. ‘I would tell Kohaku of what I’ve done today, but Naraku has a tight grasp on Kohaku, and he’ll make him spill the beans. I can’t risk it. Until then, I’ll keep my endeavors to myself.’ She thought before she walked towards Naraku’s door.
She tapped on the wood with her fan, and she listened for his voice. “Come, Kagura.” He said. She opened the door, and her eyes widen when they landed on him. Naraku had you on his lap, your legs spread around his waist. Your back was facing her as your head rested on his shoulder. ‘What’s going on? Why is she practically naked?’ She thought in confusion as she observed your slanted figure. Your white kimono was pooled around your waist, your arms dangled lifeless to your sides and your eyes seemed dull and lifeless as you stared at the wall. “Close the door, Kagura.” Naraku ordered as he picked up a shard of the jewel. She obeyed without question as she watched him. “Do you know what I am doing, Kagura?” He asked, his smirk widening. She answered him in a monotone voice. “No, I don’t.” She answered honestly.
He clenched the fragment in his palm, making it pierce his hand. The blood coated the shard and a red aura shined from his hand. Kagura’s eyes widen. ‘He’s not going to do her like Kohaku? Is he?’ Kagura thought in shock, before she covered her mouth with her closed fan. ‘If so, then we may have an issue.’ She thought with slight worry. “Does this worry you, Kagura?” Naraku asked. Kagura’s blood ran cold, before she cursed herself. “No, not at all. I’m just confused about why you’re doing this.” She answered half honestly. Naraku hummed at her words before he opened his palm, revealing a red shard. Kagura stared on. ‘It’s red.’ She thought. “The shard is this color because I didn’t pump evil intentions into this shard, rather I pumped a rather annoying human emotion into it.” Naraku explained. She looked up at him with confusion.
“A human emotion?” She asked. He moved the shard to your back, pushing the shard into the skin of your back. Your arms twitched from the pain, but you made no sound or expression. “Onigumo’s heart beats love for Kikyo, it’s the strongest emotion within his heart. So I decided to take that nauseating emotion, and put it to good use.” He explained as he moved his hand back from your back. The skin healed and the red aura from the shard spread throughout your body. Kagura watched silently as the aura consumed you slowly.
Naraku continued to speak. “Since Onigumo’s love is so potent, I’d figured that I’d put that into her, making her undying loyal to me.” He said, a victorious gleam in his eyes as he watched the aura slowly disappear. Kagura’s eyes widen in realization. “You mean to tell me, that you made her fall in love with you?” She asked. He smirked as he looked up at her. “Precisely.” He said. “She will slowly fall in love with me, making her undoubtedly loyal to me and to me alone. She’ll crave my company, making her stay close to me no matter what.” He explained. Kagura’s eyes widen, but she controlled herself before panic could fill her.
‘Damn, what the hell made him change his original plan? Does he know that I’ve alerted the others?’ She thought as she studied him. ‘No, if he did, then he would’ve already threatened me by now… so what caused the sudden switch up?’ She asked herself. She was pulled from her racing mind when she saw a dark purple aura to her left. She looked over and she grew shocked. The Kusho Pearl was glowing. ‘What’s going on? Is it reacting to the extra shard?’ She thought. The sound of your grunting brought her attention to you and she stared at you with a curious gleam.
You seemed to be in pain as you slightly squirmed in his lap. ‘What’s happening?’ She thought. “The Kusho Pearl is giving her fake memories, while it takes hers for payment.” Naraku explained as he stared down at you with a curious yet uncaring stare. Kagura stared in shock. ‘Fake memories?’ Her eyes widen in understanding. ‘Is he doing this because of The Kusho Pearl’s behavior towards her? Is that why he suddenly changed plans?’ She thought, as she tried not to let annoyance slip into her.
Your squirming stopped, and your lifeless eyes slowly closed, and you breathed a sigh of relief as you fell asleep. Naraku smirked in triumph. “Now, to wait and see what happens when she awakens.” He said. Kagura glared at him. ‘Damn you, Naraku.’ She thought. Naraku chuckled before he looked up at Kagura making her gasp. “Now tell me, kagura, how did Inuyasha take the news of his beloved mother being my romantic partner?” He asked in a taunting matter before he evilly chuckled. Kagura glared at him with hatred.
You softly smiled to yourself as you snuggled into Naraku’s chest, happiness seeming to consume you as you slept peacefully.

When you are troubled, sad, or simply feeling alone. Feel free to call upon me, for this Sesshomaru, will come to you immediately. No matter is more important than you.
If we are far apart, call on my name, and I will absolutely come flying to you. If you cannot speak, you can whistle; you may even whistle through your fingers if you like. Distance for this Sesshomaru, is no object, for mine and your hearts are intertwined.
With our unyielding trust, there is no issue. That feeling alone should be enough to fill your heart, as it does mine.
That is why, it is fine for things to remain the way they are, for now. We have plenty of time. You can examine your heart at your own pace.
Until then, take care of yourself, Rin.

༶•┈┈⛧┈♛ ᎬΝᎫϴᎽ ͲᎻᎬ ՏͲϴᎡᎽ ♛┈⛧┈┈•༶
When you awoke again, the light from the candle was the only light source in the still-dark room. You lay there for a moment, gathering your thoughts. 'How long did I sleep?' You wondered as you moved to rub the sleep from your eyes. You yawned and stretched before you decided to lay there a little longer, your thoughts constantly racing. 'I don't usually sleep, it's very rare when I do. Even more so, I'm not usually this tired. I feel drained...yet also not.' You thought as you lay there. You eventually moved to sit up and you sat there, almost in a daze. 'That young half-demon. He must be the Lord of this castle. And his daughters, Kanna and Kagura, found me fainted in the fields.' You mentally recapped.
Your face contorted into confusion. 'But, I don't remember fainting on the fields. I remember meeting Kanna, and then nothing.' You thought, confusion consumed you as you tried to make sense of it all. 'Something isn't right. I feel like something is off, but I don't know what.' You thought as you tried to repair your scattered thoughts. 'I remember Inuyasha coming by with his friends, and they stayed for about a week and a half before they left.' You thought. You sat there for a moment, thinking over the visit with Inuyasha and the others.
'I vaguely remember him telling me of an enemy he has, and that he was an evil man... But... I can't remember his name.' You thought, you were troubled by that thought, because you usually didn't forget important moments like that. It was almost foreign to you. You sighed in frustration as you tried to recall the name Inuyasha told you. But no matter what you did, everything surrounding around the topic of the man... Would always turn to something else. "This doesn't make any sense." You whispered to yourself.
A light thump from the other side of the shogi doors made you look up at them. You sat there for a moment, listening to any other forms of movement. When you didn't hear anything you spoke up. "Is someone there?" You questioned aloud. You didn't receive an answer for a while, and you assume that they were probably passing by, but a soft voice sounded from the other side. "I'm sorry to disturb you. But I was ordered to come and ask if you were hungry by any chance?" Came the soft voice. It was boyish, so you already figured that it was a young boy. You smiled sweetly at the door. "No, not necessarily, but I could go for some water please." You gently said.
He was quiet for a moment before he answered. "Of course." He said before he stalked away. Your smile slowly vanished as you thought once more. 'Strange, I never heard him approach.' You thought. 'Perhaps it was because I was deep in thought.' You convinced yourself as to not worry. The thoughts of Inuyasha speaking of the evil man flooded your mind once more, but the moment you even tried to think of what he said, a wave of pain shot up your back and up to your head making you whine from the ache. "Oww... What is this pain?" You said in a tense voice as you rubbed your forehead.
"He did say I hit the ground hard, it must've been a hard fall then." You said in a pained voice. The sound of soft footsteps sounded by your door and you looked over towards it. A soft tapping on the wood sounded through and you relaxed your poster. "Come in." You responded. The door gently slid open, revealing a young boy. You studied him for a bit before your eyes slightly widen. 'He's a human?' You thought in shock. "I've returned with your water. Ma'am." He said. You smiled at him as you watched him place the cup down next to you. "Thank you." You said as you picked up the cup, you took a small sip from it. "How are you feeling? " He suddenly asked.
You swallowed your water and you smiled. "I am much better now, the young Lord of this castle gave me sheltering, and I must thank him for his hospitality." You kindly said. His face seemed to become slightly worried from your words but he covered it up with a sweet smile. "Yes, the Lord is very kind, he even saved me too." He said. Your eyes widen at this. "He did?" You asked. He nodded. "Mmhmm, he took me in after my family was slaughtered by demons." He sadly said. You frowned at him. "I'm so sorry about that. I wish humans and demons could live in harmony, but it's inevitable." You sadly said. He shook his head. "Don't be sorry, it's not your fault. And besides, if that had never happened, I would've never met the master." He optimistically said.
His words made you smile at him, the little bit of light in his eyes reminds you of Shippo in a way. "That's a beautiful way to look at it." You said. He smiled. "Tell me, what's your name? I am (Y/N)." You asked, introducing yourself in the process. He stared at you for a bit, almost as if he was shocked when you asked but he smiled shortly after. "My name is Kohaku." He said. Your eyes widen and everything seemed to become disoriented. 'Kohaku?... Where have I heard that name before?' You thought, your brain felt like it was spinning. 'I know this name... Who... Who told me this name?' You thought as Sango and Kanna flashed before your thoughts. 'Was it Sango who told me? Or was it Kanna?.... I don't know... Something isn't right... Something's wrong.' You thought as you began falling to your side.
Kohaku's eyes widen in worry as he caught your arm, keeping you from falling. "Miss (Y/N)! Are you alright?" He worriedly asked as he helped you to lie down. You didn't respond, your eyes becoming dull as if you were being pulled from your consciousness. Kohaku stared down at you in worry. "It's the Kusho Pearl." Came Kagura's voice from behind Kohaku. He turned towards her. "The Kusho Pearl?" He questioned. She didn't respond as she studied your still form. "The Kusho Pearl is a powerful stone that can harbor a hundred worlds. Its inky depths know no bounds." She explained. Kohaku stared at her, taking her words in before he asked. "What does that have to do with, Miss (Y/N)?" He curiously asked.
Kagura stared down at him for a bit before she walked into the room, she walked up next to him before she stared down at you. He looked up at her, waiting for an answer, but a purple glow coming from you caught his attention and he looked over at you. The purple light was coming from the center of your chest, it seemed to pulsate in time with your heartbeat. "What's happening?" He asked in worry. Kagura stared on. "The Kusho Pearl has pieces of her memory fragments, as well as half of her soul." She explained. Kohaku stared down at you in worry as he listened. "Naraku." He sadly said.
Kagura nodded. "He implanted a shard of the jewel into her back, since the Kusho Pearl can't be controlled without it." She explained. He looked up at her curiously. "Why not?" He asked. She looked over at him. "Because without the jewel, the void will consume the wielder." She said. Kohaku's eyes widen. "It'll consume them? Why?" He questioned once more. She smirked in response. "Because the Pearl is much too powerful to be simply wielded by a simpleton. The only ones who can wield it without the jewel are; the Priestess Kikyo, that girl Kagome, and whoever holds the power of the Underworld." She said, she almost sounded pleased as her eyes gleamed.
Kohaku stared up at her, trying to make sense of her words before his eyes widen in understanding. "Sesshomaru." He said. Her smirk widens. "Bingo." She said in a pleased voice. Kohaku looked down for a bit, lost in thought. Kagura allowed him some time to his thoughts, while she looked over at your now sleeping form. The exhaustion of having your brain find thoughts that don't exist anymore made you pass out. "I have a plan." Kagura spoke up, making Kohaku pull from his thoughts as he slowly looked up at her. Her eyes gleamed in mischief. "And I'm going to need you to help me, Kohaku." She said.
✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩ͯ•͙͙✧⃝•͙͙✩ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ
Somewhere else in the castle, in a dark room, a purple light could be seen casting shadows on the walls. On a small tray, the Kusho Pearl could be seen emitting a bright purple aura before it pulsed. Sitting next to it was Naraku. He stared at the Pearl with a pleased smirk. "It would seem that she has finally met Kohaku. The sound of his name was enough to try and trigger a memory that isn't even her's anymore, and in response, the Kusho Pearl is sucking in more memories surrounding him." He spoke as he watched the Pearl begin to pulse like a heartbeat. His eyes narrowed as he stared at it. "It seems to be feasting off of her memories... Or perhaps... It's her demonic aura." He said, trying to make sense of the pearl's sudden change in behavior.
His eyes then widen when he thought of something. "Is it perhaps switching the human half of her soul with her demonic half? If so, that would explain why the power in the Pearl has increased." He said. A bright purple light emitted from behind him and he looked over, seeing the small portion of the Sacred Jewel glow in response to the Pearl. "It would seem that my hunch is right then. The jewel is reacting to the demonic energy in the Pearl. Hmmm, perhaps, one shard within her isn't nearly enough." He thought as he seem to rethink his plans. "Her demonic aura is older than what I assumed it was, it's much stronger than I originally thought." He said.
The Pearl seemed to dull down and the jewel followed suit. Both items dimmed down and the room was back to being shrouded in shadows. Naraku's red eyes glowed in the dark room, as he slightly thought over his plans before he smirked. "Perhaps I'll have Kagura go and visit Inuyasha sooner than I planned." He said before he chuckled.
✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩ͯ•͙͙✧⃝•͙͙✩ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ
Kohaku walked down one of the many dark halls of the castle, he was deep in thought as he walked alone. 'Kagura's plan is almost suicidal, she wants her freedom so bad that she'll risk Misses (Y/N)'s life.' He thought. He was slightly angered by Kagura's selfish plan, but he also felt sorry for her. She never asked to be birthed into a life like this, she wanted freedom. He continued on his walk, turning down a hall. 'I hope Miss (Y/N) will wake up soon, she's so far the brightest thing in this castle.' He thought as he remembered your sweet smile. He smiled to himself as he thought of you.
'Hopefully, once I'm done, I can hang with her again.' He thought hopefully. His smile slowly left as he thought over Kagura's plan.
"What plan?" He asked her. Her smirk widen as she walked back over to the shogi doors, she peaked out, looking left and right before she closed them and walked over to him and she kneeled down to his level. "I plan on getting that jewel that's implanted into her back." She said. His eyes widen at her words. "But, won't she die?" he worriedly asked her. She scoffed as she rolled her eyes. "Calm down, she isn't like you. She'll live once that shard is pulled out, maybe a little weak, but she'll manage." She explained meanly, but it comforted him non the less.
He looked over at your sleeping form before he looked back at her. "How do we get the shard then?" He asked. Kagura smiled once more. "Simple, we get Inuyasha and his band of heroes to get it out." She explained. Kohaku's eyes widen. "Inuyasha? Do you mean that they'll have to kill her?" He asked once more worried for your safety. Kagura shrugged. "Beats me, I just want the shard out." she said. Kohaku's stare harden. "If Miss (Y/N) is harmed, then I won't help you." He said in a stern voice. Her stare harden into an annoyed one. "You're worried over a woman you don't even know. What if she turns on you? Then what?" She harshly said as she tried to drive sense into him.
But his resolve never fell. "That won't happen, she's much too kind." He said as he looked over at you. Kagura stared at him for a moment before she scoffed and she stood up. "You humans make me sick, with all your emotions and whatnot. Why can't you just think for yourself once." She lectured before she walked towards the door. He stayed silent as she walked away, before he spoke up. "Wait!!" He called out. She stopped, and she looked back at him over her shoulder. When she didn't respond he spoke up. "What would happen, if we left the shard in her back?" He asked.
She studied him for a bit before she answered. "Then all of her precious memories will be whipped clean." She said honestly. He seemed to frown in worry before he looked back at you. Kagura watched as he weighed his thoughts. He then turned to her. "I'll help you, but only for Misses (Y/N)'s sake." He said. Kagura turned back towards him, a smirk on her face. "I don't care what you do it for, I just want my freedom in return." She said. Kohaku nodded at her before he stood up, so that he could be on her level. "What's the plan?" He asked.
Her smirk widens. "It's simple really. We tell Inuyasha of her predicament, and knowing that fool he'll come rushing in blindly ready to save his precious mother. Naturally, Sesshomaru will follow as he's never too far behind, and with his help, we'll get the shard from her back." She explained. Kohaku nodded. "Then what will we do?" He asked. "While Inuyasha and that girl are busy getting the shard, Naraku will be forced to intercept him, because, without the jewel in her body, the Kusho Pearl will turn on him, sucking him into the void." She explained. Kohaku's eyes widen in understanding. "Then we'll keep Miss (Y/N) hidden from Naraku?" He asked, trying to understand.
Kagura frowned. "Don't be stupid, use your head. If we hide her then Naraku will instantly slay us without a second thought." She scolded. He seemed to flinch from her lecture, but he still asked. "Then what do we do?" He asked. She calmed and smirked. "It'll be up to you to lead either Sesshomaru or the girl to the Kusho Pearl. Only they can wield it, and knowing Naraku's greedy ass, he'll try everything in his power to keep both the shard in her and the Kusho Pearl in his grasp." she said. He calculated everything she said before he gasped in understanding and her smirk widens. "So, it's our job, to ensure that the jewel is pulled from her back, so that the Kusho Pearl backfires on Naraku!!" He said. "Bingo." Kagura said in a pleasing tone.
Kohaku sighed as he stopped walking in the halls, the weight of the situation weighed heavy on him, but he was determined to do this. 'If this works out, then we'll all be freed from Naraku.' He thought, before he kneeled down in front of the shogi doors, and he cleared his thoughts before he spoke. "You called for me, Master?" He asked.

It’s been a few weeks since Inuyasha and his friends left, you’ve prayed for their safety every day since that day, wishing them well. You were currently in the fields, simply checking on the Heiwa Lily roots, you were making sure that they didn’t uproot themselves. They tend to flee when there isn’t enough pure demonic energy in the area. They thrive on it for survival, and when non was in the area they’d run off to where they can sense it strongest.
You were quietly humming to yourself as you carefully pumped some of your own pure demonic energy into the ground. The sun was currently high in the sky, on a partly cloudy day. A fond smile on your face as you were lost in your own world. You then heard the sound of walking, you looked up from the ground and down towards the dirt path. You stared on in wonder as you saw a young girl walking down the dirt pathway. She wore all white, from her hair to her garbs. You stood up as you observed her. ‘A young demoness? What’s she doing here?’ You questioned to yourself. You decided to meet her halfway, you dusted off your clothes from the dirt, before you walked over towards her.
“Why hello there.” You called out to her once you were close enough to her. She stopped in her tracks, allowing you to approach her. You smiled down sweetly at her. “What are you doing way out here? Do you have parents?” You asked her, as you looked around the area for any signs of other people looking for her. When you didn’t see anyone you kneel down to her level. “Are you all alone?” You asked her softly. She didn’t say anything, her face expressionless.
You smiled at her with a fond stare. ‘She reminds me of Sesshomaru when he was her age.’ You thought fondly as you looked at her. You looked down at her hands, noticing that she was holding a circular mirror in her hands. You observed the mirror for a bit before you smile at her. “Did this mirror belong to your mother?” You asked her, but she didn’t respond, she instead raised the mirror up some, showing you your reflection. You looked down at it in question before you grew suspicious of it. ‘Something doesn’t feel right.’ You thought. Before you could react, the mirror glowed a blinding white light.
Your eyes were glued to the brightness, almost as if you were hypnotized. “Your soul is halved, I’ll need to be careful,” Kanna said as she sucked in your soul to a limit before she stopped. “I’ll need to leave some of her human soul.” She said, as she watched your dull eyes. You looked at her, your body shook as you tried to not move too much from the sudden pain and emptiness that was engulfing you. You tried to say something, but nothing came out of your mouth before your eyes relaxed and you collapsed. You were still conscious, but it hurt to move. You felt a strong gust of wind rush over the area before it calmed. ‘Where did that wind come from?’ You thought curiously.
The sound of a woman’s voice chimed in. “Hmm, good work, Kanna.” She complimented the young girl. ‘Kanna.’ You mentally noted. “Let’s get her back to Naraku quickly, he’s an impatient bastard.” She snared with annoyance. ‘Naraku? Where have I heard that name before?’ You thought. The sound of walking made you lose your train of thought, you listened to them get closer to you before you heard her voice once more. She was standing right before you. “Kohaku, come and pick her up for me, will you?” She asked, it sounded like she was being kind, but perhaps you were looking too much into it.
The sound of lighter footsteps sounded a little further back. ‘Kohaku? When did he get here?’ You thought in confusion. You listened to the steps get closer before they stopped in front of you. His movements seemed slowed and delayed, but he eventually picked you up. ‘Kohaku... feels so small.’ You mentally thought as you were hosted over his shoulder. ‘Is he also a child… like Kanna?’
You thought as you lifelessly stared at the ground, your mind was beginning to feel hazy as your world began to darken. ‘Why can’t I stay awake?’ You questioned yourself as your vision began to fade in and out. “Let us be on our way, the quicker we get this done, the better.” Came the woman’s voice. Another strong gust of wind shot by you, and your vision was engulfed in a white field of grass. ‘Fur?’ You thought, before your vision faded to black.
✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩ͯ•͙͙✧⃝•͙͙✩ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ
When you awoke again, you noticed that you were in a dark room. The only light source was from the candle that wasn’t too far from you. The white wax seemed new, meaning that it was either a new candle or it was just recently lit. You stared at the ceiling, the wooden beams shrouded in the shadows. Your vision became stronger, and you were able to see through the darkness a little better. ‘A noblemen’s home?’ You questioned yourself. ‘Why am I here?’ You thought to yourself. You remember seeing a young girl in white, she was holding a mirror… then nothing. You couldn’t remember much after that.
‘That young demoness… and her mirror…. Something about her mirror… was bad…. But what?’ You thought, trying to remember why her mirror was so important, but your head began to ache and you winced from the throbbing of it. ‘Ow.’ You mentally whined as you shuffled under your blankets, pulling the covering over your head. You were resting for a bit before a sudden realization dawned upon you. ‘I can move!!’ You thought. ‘But… why would that be so shocking?’ You questioned yourself. Before you could think anymore about it, a deep voice sounded out not too far from you.
“I see that you’ve finally awakened.” He said. Your eyes widen before you pulled the blankets down from over your head, but you didn’t take them off. You looked to your left, only seeing the candle and shogi doors, you then looked to your right, and your eyes widen when you saw a young man. ‘A half-demon? Is he the young lord of this home?’ You thought. His hair was long and black, it was loose down his back, and he seemed to be dressed in a purple suikan, the top was covered in what seemed to be hay bunched up in green ties, over his top, he wore a dark blue vest. He was undoubtedly handsome.
“Did you sleep well?” He asked, he seemed curious, but in a strange way, it was hard to pinpoint it.
You smiled at him and you nodded. “Yes, Thank you for letting me sleep here, I am most grateful.” You said in a sincere voice. He acknowledged your words with a quiet hum before he spoke. “My daughters, Kagura and Kanna, found you fainted in a field. They assumed that you probably overworked yourself in your own garden work. So to ensure your good health, they brought you back to the castle for medical attention.” He explained, his voice was mainly monotone, but you could hear something else there, you just couldn’t put your finger on it.
You looked at him with a confused face. ‘Fainted? But… I don’t remember fainting… I remember talking to Kanna, but I can’t remember what happened after that… maybe I did faint but much later on?’ You thought in confusion, your head began to hurt and you winced from the pain of it. ‘My head hurts so bad.’ You thought as pain shot up your spine to your head. “Your head may hurt, you did hit it pretty hard when you fell on that rock. Do you need any medical aid?” He said, he sounded somewhat concerned, but he still had another tone in there, but you still couldn’t determine what it was.
“N-no, I’ll be fine. Thank you for taking me into your home, I’m sorry for imposing. I’m not sure what caused me to lose consciousness, I’m usually more careful than this, but I guess I was a bit distracted.” You apologetically said as you gave him a sheepish but sweet smile. He studied you for a moment, it seemed like he was dissecting you and you shivered slightly at the thought. His stare let up and he seemed to relax. “You should be more careful in the future then. Stay here, until you are better. In the meantime, you have free range of the castle. If you need anything, just ask.” He said, giving you permission to freely roam.
You smiled at him kindly. “Thank you.” You said, your voice full of sincerity. He looked at you with an unreadable look, but it almost seemed like he was curious about you, but before you could think of it anymore, he looked away and he stood up. “I have some unattended matters to get to, until then, you should get some rest.” He said as he walked towards the shogi doors. You watched him walk over towards them. When he opened them, you got a good look at the castle in that short instance, and you could see that the whole place seemed to be shrouded in darkness.
‘It must be night.’ You thought, before the doors closed just as fast as they opened. You stared at the door a little longer, listening to his almost silent footsteps walk away. Once it was all quiet, you let out a sigh. “I know he was just welcoming me, but it felt more like an interrogation than a greeting.” You said in slight panic and relief to be from under his pressuring gaze. You turned on your side, your back facing the shogi doors. ‘His daughters. Kagura and Kanna. He said that they saved me, but… how much of that is true? I don’t remember fainting in the fields, but I do remember fainting after I met that young girl… the young demoness in white.” You thought, your mind becoming hazy once more, as sleep seemed to overcome you.
Your vision darkened, as your eyes slid close, sleep overpowering your senses. You were about to doze off until one last final thought came to your mind. “wasn’t her name...Kanna?” As soon as you dozed off, the candle blew itself out, and a purple glow emitted from behind you. On your back, the shape of a small, purple diamond could be seen under your newly white garments. It was in the center of your back between your shoulder blades.
✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩ͯ•͙͙✧⃝•͙͙✩ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ
In another part of the castle, Naraku could be seen walking down the hall, his face seemed unreadable as he walked down the halls. ‘(Y/N). The adoptive mother of Inuyasha. How fascinating.’ He amusingly thought as a small smirk stretched on his face. ‘I’ll use her as bait, to lure Inuyasha in, and not just Inuyasha, but surprisingly Sesshomaru too. I’ll be able to kill two birds with one stone.’ He thought as he chuckled. He suddenly stopped in the hall, before he raised his hand up.
It was clenched in a loose fist, he stared at it for a moment before it shined a bright purple. ‘Half of her soul is mine, and so are her memories. With Kanna’s mirror, she was able to extract her most important memories. The ones where there may be information about me, because I’m sure that pitiful mutt, Inuyasha told her of my existence, and the memories of her encounters with Kanna, Kagura, and Kohaku.’ He thought. His smirk became more vicious as he opened his palm. It seemed to be a small black pearl, it was the source of the purple aura.
‘The Kusho Pearl. It’s a pearl that’s said to be able to store a hundred worlds within its inky depths, I’ve stored her memories in this pearl, along with the other half of her soul. With this, I’ll be able to manipulate her into believing whatever I tell her.’ He evilly thought as he chuckled once more as he continued down the hall. ‘I’ll be able to control both Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, If they care for her as much as Kagura believes, then I’ll make them gravel at my feet, less they want her to forever forget who they are.’ He thought as he slowly vanished into the darkness of the castle.

Sesshomaru left an hour before the sun rise, he didn’t speak to you much, he just taunted Inuyasha, railing him up as he did so. It was a lovely little reunion while it lasted. You didn’t speak much, just happy to hear their harmless banters. Once the sun came up, you and Inuyasha returned to your demon forms. Inuyasha rolled out his shoulders, loosening them up. “That damn Sesshomaru. That asshole teased me the whole night, giving me a hard time, I’d like to see him try me now.” He said before he cracked his fingers, flexing his claws.
You sighed as you strolled past him, you were in the hut, making the fire and getting the cauldron hot so that you could make some rice. Inuyasha caught up to you with a few quick steps, he fell in line behind you his hands tucked in his sleeves as he stared down at you curiously. “Where are you going?” He asked as he arched a brow at you. You smiled before you looked back at him. “I’m going hunting, I feel like it’s time for more meat.” You said, his face brighten with a smile. “Alright!! What are we gonna catch huh? Rabbit? Deer? Goat? A pig?” He excitedly asked.
You laughed at his excitement before you looked back forward. “Whatever you can catch, although a deer would be nice. It’ll most defiantly feed everyone, and we’ll even have some leftovers too!!” You said as you walked into the forest, Inuyasha wasn’t far behind. He smirked, a cocky gleam in his eyes. “Then it’s settled, I’ll catch the biggest deer you’ve ever seen.” He said in a confident tone. You lightly laughed. “I’m sure you will, dear.” You said fondly. You looked up at the sky, memories of the times from when Inuyasha was a young boy.
You could still hear his little laughter ringing out through the forest as he hunted down small rabbits. The sound of his little voice screaming “LOOK, MAMA!!” As he confidently showed you his capture of two rabbits. Your smile softened and you looked back at the trees ahead of you. ‘So many memories.’ You thought. You both walked a little further before Inuyasha suddenly quicken his pace and he rounded in front of you making you stop. You looked up at him curiously. “What is it, Inuyasha?” You asked him.
He stared down at you for a moment before he turned around and crouched down in front of you. You stared down at him in confusion. “Get on my back… it’ll be faster this way.” He explained, he never looked at you as he spoke. You stared a little longer before you smiled, you gently placed your hands on his shoulders. “Now, I’m a little heavy, okay? I don’t wanna strain you.” You said. Inuyasha huffed in annoyance. “You’re not that heavy!! Besides you’re small anyways.” He said in an annoyed voice. You smiled at his words, but you nearly yelped when he suddenly stood up. His arms under your legs pulled them to his waist.
“Besides… I never got to do this...” He said in a soft voice as he began walking. Your eyes widen before they softened once more and you placed your cheek against his shoulder. You both continued on in silence, his words ringing memories. “One day, mama, I’m gonna be strong enough to carry you through the woods.” Came Inuyasha’s small voice. “Oh? Why is that?” You amusingly asked. His little cocky laugh made your heart hum. “Because I don’t want you to be tired when you get home. One day, I’m going to be strong for the both of us.” He promised.
Your grip on his shoulders tightened and you smiled fondly to yourself. “You remembered, Inuyasha?” You questioned in a gentle voice. “Your sweet little promise?” You questioned once more. He stayed silent a little longer before he softly replied. “Yeah, how could I?” He questioned. “It was something I held onto for years, I wasn’t kidding when I said that...” He said in a serious voice. You listened to him, letting him speak. “I was going to get strong for us, so that I could protect you, Mom.” He said. Your eyes closed as you held onto his shoulders tighter. You both walked silently for a moment before you spoke softly as you both vanished into the forest. “Thank you, Inuyasha.” You said in a grateful voice.

A few days have gone by, and it was unfortunately time for Inuyasha and his friends to part ways. You all stood outside in front of the hut, the group stood in the pathway while you stood in front of the hut. You smiled sweetly at them all, you were happy to meet them all. “Now you all travel safely now, okay?” You said in a motherly voice. They all smiled at you. “Will do, and you keep yourself safe too okay?” Sango said in a kind voice. Kirara was on her shoulder and she meowed as if to agree with Sango. “Yes, please do keep yourself safe.” Miroku chimed in. “Yeah!! We’ll be sure to come by and visit too!!” Shippo happily said, he was settled on Kagome’s shoulder, his sweet little smile never ceases to make your smile stop.
“I would happily let you all in. Please do visit, I would love to have you all in my home again.” You said. Their smiles seemed to brighten at your words. “Thank you so much for everything, we’re extremely grateful,” Kagome said in a sweet voice. You smiled at her sweetly. “You’re all so welcome… Inuyasha.” You called his name. He blinked in question, but he spoke up. “M’eah?” He questioned. “Make sure you come by and visit me more often, and take good care of your friends, especially this young lady here. You take good care of her young man, do you hear me?” You scolded him as you pointed your finger at him, you lightly scowled at him and your eyes set on his.
He seemed shocked by your words as he leaned back from you. “I said, do you hear me, young man?” You sternly said as you stepped up towards him and you pulled his ear. “OW! OW! OW! I HEARD YOU!! I HEARD YOU!!” He shouted in pain. Your stern look never let up. “I want you to promise me that you’ll look after her properly.” You said once more. “I WILL!! I WILL!! NOW LET ME GO!!” He shouted his promise angrily. Your stern stare slightly let up and you smiled. “Good.” You said in a much more happier voice as you let his ear go, he immediately stepped back from you as he rubbed his ear. Everyone stared on in amusement as they watched you lecture Inuyasha.
You then walked towards him and you engulfed him into a hug, your arms wrapped around his shoulders making him hunch over. He stared at you in slight shock and confusion before his eyes softened. “I mean it, Inuyasha. I want you to visit me more often, I want you to bring your friends too. I want you to stay safe out there, and continue getting stronger. Stay kindhearted and do try to talk with your brother more.” You said as you rubbed his back. His hands gently embraced you, before he tightened his hold on you. “I promise, Mom… I’ll do all of those things and more… except for that last part.” He irritably said.
You lightly chuckled before you pulled away and he did the same. Your hands remained on his shoulders and his on your waist. “I know, but at least try, dear.” You said as you whipped some invisible dust from his cheek. You pulled back from him and he did the same. “I’ll try, but no promise can be made.” He said as he placed his hands on his sleeves. You shook your head, knowing that he will try, but not anytime soon.
“Until next time, you all travel safely now.” You said, they all smiled once more as they all turned to walk away. They waved back at you as they made their way down the path and you waved back at them. You stopped waving when their figures became small and you stayed there at the door to your hut, waiting for them to vanish down the hill. Once they did you stayed there a little longer before your eyes soften and your smile became fond The sun was high in the sky and the birds were chirping. “Did you wish to come speak to me, Sesshomaru?” You asked
There was no movement, no response, but you knew he was there, and your patients was well worth the wait. The sound of grass crunching under slow steps sounded from behind you, but you never turned around. You listened to him walk towards you through the grass, and you heard when he stepped on the dirt. He continued walking to you before he stopped a few feet behind you. You both stood there in silence for a moment before you spoke. “Sesshomaru, I’m shocked that you came out this early in the day.” You spoke in an even tone.
He didn’t respond to your words. “Are you here to ask me something? Or are you just here to speak?” You asked curious about his sudden visitation. “I wish to know the answer to something.” He finally spoke. Your eyes gleamed in a knowing light, as you figured that’s why he came. You finally turned towards him, your kind smile never leaving. “What answers do you need from me?” You asked. He stayed silent for a moment before he spoke. “The Heiwa Lily.” He said. You grew curious about his statement. “What is it that you wish to know about them?” You asked, as your hands came to lay together in front of your legs.
He answered. “You said that they only absorb demonic emotions, however, you never explained their importance.” He said. You gave him a sweet smile, genuinely happy that he even decided to stay just to ask you this question. You wanted to remind him that you would’ve, had he and his little brother not got into a little argument, but you didn’t want to hurt his pride. “The Heiwa Lily is a flower that can be used in war.” You said. His eyes lightened with enlightenment. “They were used to drain rivaling clans of their demon's energies, in turn, the opposing clan will take the stored energy and absorb it for their own usage." You explained, he soaked in your words thinking of what you said. “They have another purpose, do they not?” He asked. You smiled.
“Perceptive as always, Sesshomaru.” You complimented him, he didn’t react to your words and you continued. “They did have another purpose, they were also used to speak to the dead.” You explained. His eyes seemed to lighten. “The dead?” He asked. You nodded. “The Heiwa Lily could be used to speak to dead demons. They were usually used to speak to messengers and prisoners who were slaughtered. And very rarely, to speak to loved ones.” You further explained. He blinked in confusion before he seemed to gather his thoughts.
“What was the purpose for you to gather those flowers?” He asked. You gave him a sad smile, and his brow twitched at the sight of it. “I was gathering them, because I wanted to speak to Toga, and maybe even perhaps Kudagitsune.” You sadly said. Sesshomaru observed you for a moment before he spoke. “You wish to use the lily, yet you were a human, do you mourn so deeply till sense leaves you?” He asked. His tone was condescending, but his eyes seemed soft, almost like he felt sorry for you. You smiled at him, you held no anger toward his words.
“No, my senses never left, but I do gather them on the night of the new moon, so that I can pray to them.” You said fondly. “Pray?” He asked. “Last I checked, they were demonic flowers, demons don’t respond to prayers.” He said coldly. You kept your same sweet smile. “I know, but I still do it anyways. I hope that they can hear me from the other world, even though I know they can’t. But, it’s the only form of communication that I have with them.” You said, your hands came up to your heart and you held them tight to your chest.
“I wish to speak to them, Sesshomaru, I wish to tell them of you and Inuyasha. About how far my sweet boys have come since they were alive.” You spoke, your voice held pure honesty, they caused Sesshomaru’s eyes to widen. He stared at you for a moment, before he slightly scoffed. “You’re a fool.” He said. You smiled at him. “I know I am, and I will accept that as a part of me. But what of you, Sesshomaru?” You asked him. He eyed you in curiosity.
“Explain.” He ordered. You chuckled at him and his gaze narrowed. “You’re still my sweet little Sesshomaru. Prideful and just as cocky as ever.” You said as you smiled fondly at him. He didn’t say anything, meaning that he wasn’t doubting your words. “But, you’ve also gained compassion and humbleness. It makes me shiver with pride at how far you’ve come, Sesshomaru.” You said. His brows twitched before he turned away from you. “Don’t speak so familiar with me, you are a lowly caretaker, know your place.” He coldly said before he walked away.
You stared at him, watching as he stalked off into the woods. “You say that, yet you always come to check on me. You speak coldly yet your eyes stayed warm. You and I both know, and you run from that.” You spoke aloud to yourself, as you watched his figure vanish into the trees. You stood there a while longer before you walked into your home.
In the trees, far from where Sesshomaru vanished, was Kagura. She smirked to herself in success as she chuckled. “So, Sesshomaru and Inuyasha both have a motherly bond with this woman, do they?” She said to herself. Her brain seemed to be turning gears before her smirk widen “Naraku would be most pleased with my little discovery.” She said, before she plucked a feather from her hair and she threw it into the air, and she vanished with a whirlwind of leaves.

Inuyasha and Sesshomaru stared at one another, the wind blowing their hair and clothing in the wind along with the grass and the trees, they said nothing for a while, sizing each other up. Then, Sesshomaru broke the silence but not the tension. “Inuyasha, you’ve approached me in your human form. How atrocious.” He sneered. Inuyasha scoffed. “Humph, you damn right I did, I heard that you only come to visit Mom when it’s the new moon.” He said in a cocky voice, he was already mentally prepared for Sesshomaru to see him in such a form, so he doesn’t care. Sesshomaru shot back. “And what’s it to you? Last I checked you never even visit the woman, so much for a son.” He fired.
Inuyasha growled at Sesshomaru’s words. “Well I’m here now, and I’m not going anywhere until I get some damn answers, Sesshomaru.” He said, determination in his voice. Sesshomaru stared at him for a moment before he stepped forward, Inuyasha steeled his resolve before he stepped forward as well. They walked towards one another, until they were just a few feet apart. They stared each other down for a moment before Sesshomaru spoke. “You want answers, yet you can’t even answer the fact that you never visited, half-breed.” He shot.
“Humph, I had my reasons for not coming by, but why have you been visiting? She’s got nothing to do with you.” He said in a defensive tone. Sesshomaru huffed in false amusement. “Ha, don’t make me laugh, you barely even know the woman, how can you question my visiting when you didn’t even try.” He said. Inuyasha snarled at him. “Get off my back, I couldn't do anything about that, I was asleep for 50 years, how could I?”
He defended himself, his fist clenching in frustration. Sesshomaru nearly smirked but his face stayed unreadable, he then immediately shot back. “How pathetic.” He said in a disgusted voice. Inuyasha’s eyes widen. “Wh-what?” Inuyasha questioned. Sesshomaru continued on. “You're a disgrace of a man, what kind of a pathetic excuse is that? You’ve been freed by that human woman for quite some time now, you could’ve made an appearance, but you wanted to play ‘pet’ with two human women.” He said in a lecturing tone.
Inuyasha was left speechless, he didn’t know how to defend himself, all he could do was drop his head as he silently cursed himself. Sesshomaru observed him for a moment before his stare seemed to harden slightly. “You dare come out to me, in this pitiful state, and order me to give you answers? Preposterous. You’re a bigger fool than I thought you were, Inuyasha.” He degraded. When Inuyasha never gave an answer, Sesshomaru lost his hard glare and he closed his eyes in a dismissive matter, before he walked forward, stalking past Inuyasha.
He barely got 5 steps past him before Inuyasha called out to him. “WAIT!” He called out. Sesshomaru stopped, his eyes opened, but he never turned towards him. Inuyasha took his pause as his moment to speak. “Instead of lecturing me, can ya just give me an answer to my question?” He asked in an annoyed voice. Sesshomaru stayed silent, and Inuyasha growled, he opened his mouth to complain but Sesshomaru spoke up. “My business with her has nothing to do with you, but ask your pointless question, and if I deem it fit, I’ll give an answer.” He said.
Inuyasha studied his back for a moment before he asked his question. “Why do you come to visit? She told me it was because you wanted answers to Tessaiga, but now you have your answers, so why bother to still come by?” He asked. The silence between them stretched on for a moment, the tension was high, yet it remained suspiciously unreadable, but it wasn’t a good kind of tension.
Sesshomaru suddenly started walking again, seeming to disregard Inuyasha’s question. Inuyasha glared at his brother’s back. “SESSHOMARU!! ANSWER MY DAMN QUESTION!!” He shouted in anger, his fists clench in frustration, he was powerless to beat the answer out of Sesshomaru, so he was just forced to yell, but he was shocked when Sesshomaru’s voice suddenly rang out to him. “You already know the answer, I’m sure she already told you, about our history.” He said as he walked. Inuyasha stared after him in wonderment, thinking over his words.
“I already know? What the hell does that mean?” He asked himself aloud, he refocused on Sesshomaru once more, noticing that he was beginning to vanish into the darkness. “HEY!! COME BACK AND EXPLAIN DAMMNIT!!” He shouted as he gave chase after him. Sesshomaru kept his same pace, it was slow to him, but it was causing Inuyasha to huff in exhaustion. “Wait, dammit Sesshomaru.” He huffed as he leaned against a tree, he silently cursed his human body as he stared at Sesshomaru. Once he got his breath back he gave chase once more.
They kept up this chase for a while, Sesshomaru never sped up, and Inuyasha kept having to stop but he wasn’t stopping as much as he was when the chase began. Eventually, Sesshomaru stopped in a clearing of the woods, the wind blowing his garments and hair back, as he seemed to stare at nothing. Inuyasha huffed, as he entered the clearing with Sesshomaru. He stood there for a moment, a tired glare in his eyes as he stared at Sesshomaru. They stayed in their spots for a moment longer, before Inuyasha walked over towards him.
“Sesshomaru, you’re an ass in a half, ya know that?” He huffed out an insult as he walked next to Sesshomaru, but he kept some distance from him. He glared at Sesshomaru a little longer, before he stared towards where Sesshomaru seemed to be in a trance. His eyes slightly widen when he saw his childhood home. “The hell? Why are we here?” He asked. Sesshomaru’s eyes slightly lowered in annoyance but he remained calm. “Shut up, and watch.” He ordered. Inuyasha looked over at him in question before he looked back at the hut. They watched as they seem you exit the home. You stretched your arms high above your head before you walked outwards from your home.
“It’s mom, what is she doing out here for?” Inuyasha asked as he watched you. Sesshomaru never gave an answer, but instead, he kept on watching so Inuyasha did the same. They watched as you walked into the field until you suddenly crouched. You seemed to be doing something. Inuyasha stared on a little more before he shot Sesshomaru a septic stare. “You’ve been watching her? What are ya, some kind of creep? I would expect this from Miroku, but not from you Sesshomaru.” He accused as he stared at Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru almost rolled his eyes at Inuyasha’s words.
“Be quiet you fool.” He said in an annoyed voice. Inuyasha stared at him questionably before he looked back over toward you. You stood back up, what seemed to be flowers bunched up in your hands, they were beautiful white flowers, that seemed to glow. You then walked back to your hut, once in front of it, you sat down on a little bench, the flowers still in your hands. Inuyasha blinked as he stared on. “What am I supposed to learn, asshat?” He shot in annoyance. Sesshomaru suddenly began to walk forward, never answering Inuyasha’s question.
Inuyasha watched him with a confused stare, before he huffed, placed his hands in his sleeves, and silently followed Sesshomaru. The closer they got, the more they could make out the loving smile on your face. You suddenly looked up, spotting Sesshomaru and surprisingly Inuyasha. You blinked in shock and confusion before your smile grew joyous. Inuyasha stared at your smile, he had never seen that look on your face before. It was joy, but it was more happier than joy.
You scooted over on the bench till you were in the middle of it and you patted both spots on either side of you. “Sesshomaru, Inuyasha. I am so happy that you both came down together to visit me.” You happily said. Inuyasha was confused, he stopped walking when Sesshomaru did. Your smile never left your face, and Sesshomaru spoke up. “You seem to be fairing well, hahaoya.” He said in his usual monotone voice, but his eyes shined fondness. Inuyasha stepped back in shock at Sesshomaru’s words. “Huh!?” He confusingly called. He went unnoticed by you and Sesshomaru.
Your eyes widen at his words. Disbelief on your face from what you heard, your breathing was shaky and your hands shook as they came up to clench together in front of your fluttering heart. “Yes, I have been very well, On.” You shakily said as you smiled. Inuyasha stared dumbfounded at the exchange. Sesshomaru walked towards you, he took a seat next to you on the bench, making you smile at him warmly. You looked over at Inuyasha, seeing his confusion and you chuckled. “Come, come. Sit here, Inuyasha.” You said as you patted the spot next to you. He remained frozen for a moment longer before he came back to his senses.
“What the hell is going on?” He asked in irritation as he glared at you both. You and Sesshomaru stared up at him for a moment in silence before Sesshomaru closed his eyes and you giggled. “HEY!! DON’T IGNORE ME!!” He shouted as his fingers twitched. You stared at him with a sweet stare. “Come and sit, Inuyasha, it’s a joyous night after all.” You said, your voice was cheerful. Inuyasha’s glare left and it was replaced with a shocked face. “But… why?” He asked. Sesshomaru stared up at Inuyasha, an amused gleam in his eyes. “Yes, little brother, come join hahaoya and I.” He teased. You cheer at his words as you wrapped your arms around Sesshomaru’s arm.
Inuyasha glared heatedly at Sesshomaru before he huffed and he pointed an accusing finger at Sesshomaru. “I don’t know what you’re up to, but I’m on to you, Sesshomaru!!” He said in a defensive voice. Sesshomaru turned his face away from Inuyasha, but he remained silent. In his defense, you glare at Inuyasha. “Would you stop and just sit down already!!” You scolded, Inuyasha backed away in slight fear but he grumbled and sat down next to you.
You smiled once more when he finally sat down. You all sat in silence, just… enjoying each other's presence. But it didn’t last long before a slightly stronger wind blew, causing your flowers to be blown from your lap. “OH NO!! MY FLOWERS!!” You shouted in panic as they were blown away by the wind. You were so happy to finally be able to cuddle with Sesshomaru, that you forgot to hold them down. “Oh...” You sighed sadly as they went up into the air. Inuyasha stared on along with Sesshomaru, they watched your flowers blow into sky, watching as they seemed to blend into the starry sky.
Inuyasha spoke up. “Don’t worry, you can always pick more.” He said, trying to comfort your worries over the flowers, but it only seemed to make you sadder as you sank into your seat. “No, they only bloom on the night of the new moon…. And those were the only ones that bloom around here.” You explained as you sighed sadly. Inuyasha stared at you a little longer before he looked up at the flowers that blew away. Your hold onto Sesshomaru’s arm loosen as you placed your hands in your lap, Sesshomaru briefly glanced at you before he looked back up towards the flowers, his gaze narrowed and he stood up.
Both you and Inuyasha looked up at him in question. “Sesshomaru?” You questioned, but he never answered as he suddenly shot off into the air. Both you and Inuyasha stared on in shock and confusion as he flew up toward the flowers. You stared on in wonderment while Inuyasha scoffed and he snatched his head off. “Tch, showoff.” He muttered. Once all the flowers were captured by Sesshomaru, he gracefully floated down, he landed a few feet away from you both.
You stayed seated, and watch patiently as he walked towards you and Inuyasha. He presented the flowers to you, they were in perfect condition, and they seemed to glow even brighter in his hand. Your eyes studied their brightness, and you gave a knowing smile before you grabbed them gently from his hold. “Thank you, Sesshomaru.” You kindly thanked him. He said nothing as he closed his eyes and he quietly took his seat next to you once more.
Inuyasha glared over at him before he looked away and huffed. You smiled down at your flowers, the glow from them seemed to dim before they lightened again. Inuyasha looked over at the flowers in confusion. “Why are they doing that?” He asked. You smiled at his question. “They’re reacting to Sesshomaru’s touch.” You explained, this seemed to catch Sesshomaru’s attention as he too looked at the flowers. “But why? If anything they should’ve shriveled up and died.” He said with an unimpressed look on his face. Sesshomaru scoffed at his words before he asked you a question.
“Why did they react?” He asked, you stared down at the flowers watching their whiteness brighten and fade. “Because they’re reacting to your heart. It would seem that you’re opening up more and more to your Father’s wishes for you.” You explained. Sesshoaru’s and Inuyasha’s eyes widen at your words. You all remained silent after that, watching the flowers pulse. They both seemed to be in a trance, each lost in their own worlds. They suddenly stopped pulsing and Inuyasha blinked. “Why’d they stop?” He asked, he almost sounded disappointed at the fact.
“Because the main source isn’t directing touching them anymore.” You explained. Inuyasha gave a sly look towards Sesshomaru, but his brother seemed to sense him as he turned his face away from him. The silence was broken by you. “These are demon flowers. They’re known as Heiwa Lily, they adsorb overwhelming feelings. Such as Love, Sadness, and Hatred. They only adsorb demonic energy.” You further explained.
They both quietly listened to your words, Sesshomaru’s eyes narrowed slightly. “If they can only adsorb demonic emotions, why do they bloom on the night of the new moon?” Inuyasha asked. You smiled. “Because they don’t want to accidentally absorb the energy of a half-demon.” You explained. Inuyasha looked over at you in curiosity. “Damn, even the damn flowers are picky?” He asked in annoyance as he glared at the flowers.
Sesshomaru huffed in amusement and Inuyasha instantly glared at him. “What’s so funny?” He said. Sesshomaru closed his eyes. “Nothing is humorous, just that even the flowers know when a filthy half-breed is in the area.” He said. A vein bulged on Inuyasha’s fist as he glared at Seshomaru with pure rage. “Why you?” He said in an angered tone. Sesshomaru’s eyes opened and he looked over at Inuyasha. “Got something to say, human?” He asked, a tease in his tune. “You bet I do, and this human is gonna kick your royal ass!!” Inuyasha said in anger as he cracked his knuckles. Sesshomaru grew a challenging glare in his eyes as he stared at Inuyasha. “I’d like to see you get one hit in.” He said.
Inuyasha growled and Sesshomaru glared, you sighed sadly at their antics. “So much for a story.” You sadly said, as the sound of punches landing on skin sounded out and Inuyasha cried out in pain. ‘A-HAOW!!!!” He shouted. Sesshomaru scoffed. “Hmph, pitiful, I barely even grazed you.” He taunted. Inuyasha shouted back. “YEAH RIGHT!!! YOU DAMN NEAR KILLED ME!!” He shouted. Sesshomaru remained silent for a moment before he spoke again. “You’re exaggerating.” He stated. “HAH!?” Inuyasha said. “Hmph, If I had actually tried, I promise you that you wouldn’t still be breathing.” He claimed. “WHY YOU!!!” Inuyasha shouted,
You smiled as you listened to their bantering, the flowers seemed to brighten, soaking in the energy emitting from Sesshomaru. ‘He’s so content, till he doesn’t even notice his demonic energy leaking out.’ You thought as you watched the flowers glow to nearly a blinding white before they began to disintegrate, they turned into purple lights, that floated up into the sky like fireflies. You watched as they floated off into the sky. ‘For the first time, in a long time. Sesshomaru is surrounded by family.’ You thought, as your heart bloomed with love. You sighed happily as you leaned back, causing the brothers to halt in their bantering.
They looked down at you in curiosity, watching you closely. “I’m so happy. Both of my boys are here, together, for the first time ever.” You said in a soft voice, as you smiled. Inuyasha smiled at you while Sesshomaru’s eyes soften. All was quiet after that, as you all three for the first time, just enjoyed each other's company.

A few days have gone by, and since then you’ve told tales of Toga to Inuyasha and his friends. It’s been a long time since your home has been busy like this, 50 years have gone by since the day Inuyasha vanished, and hasn’t a single day gone by that you didn’t pray for his safety. 50 years later, it seems that your prayers worked. Your son was home, and with him he brought friends.
Throughout the days that they’ve been here, it’s been nothing but laughter and smiles. You were glad to give them all warm bedding and food, it comforted you to see them relax, they were all so young, you’d rather see them relax than fight. They told you about an evil man named Naraku, and how he’s been causing havoc all across the lands. You’ve never heard of this ‘Naraku’ but he sounded like trouble.
Your interest grew when they spoke of how Kikyo was revived, they spoke of a witch, and you knew immediately that your hunch was correct. Kagome was the one to re-tell the tale. “She was an old hag, she was obsessed with bringing back Kikyo, but she needed me to revive her since I’m Kikyo’s reincarnation,” Kagome spoke. Inuyasha huffed. “Hmpmh, yeah, she was a raggedy old hag, but with one touch she was vanquished by Kikyo.” He said, he held a form of pride in his voice as he spoke. Kagome seemed vexed by it, but she chose to ignore it.
“It’s true, Kikyo’s spiritual powers were so strong, till just one touch and she melted. But I forgot her name.” Kagome said as she looked up in thought, she was pulled from her thoughts when Inuyasha spoke once more. “Tch, what does it matter what the hag’s name was, just know that she’s-” “Her name was, Urasue.” Inuyasha was abruptly cut off by your sudden answer. Everyone looked over towards you in question. Shippo spoke up. “OH YEAH!! IT WAS URASUE!!!” He excitedly chimed in, he was resting on Kagome’s shoulder.
“Yeah, but how do you know that, (Y/N)?” Kagome asked. “Urasue used to be known as “The Demoness of Souls” She was known for her demonic powers, that could bring back the dead.” You explained, everyone stared at you in silence before Inuyasha spoke up. “Yeah, that’s all dandy and all, but how do you know her?” He asked. You looked over at him. “I knew of her, only because she was the one who helped forge Tenseiga.” You explained.
Everyone gasped at your answer. “You mean to tell me, that the sword that Sesshomaru wields, was created by Urasue?” Miroku asked, trying to better understand. “But, I thought that old man Totosai was the one who created it?” Sango asked. You nodded at their words. “It is true, that Totosai was the one to forge Tenseiga, but Urasue was the one to give it its powers of revival.” You answered their questions. Everyone soaked in your words, understanding their meaning before Shippo asked. “But how did she get the power into the blade?” He asked.
You smiled at him. “Simple, it was through her blood and demonic aura.” You said. Their faces all seem to resonate with understanding, but their eyes didn’t, so you explained. “You see, Urasue’s blood and demonic aura were a special case. Anything that soaked in her blood for more than a day would consume her resurrection powers, and if anything soaked in her demonic aura for three days, would soak in her ‘eyes of the unknown’. Meaning that it can either see or detect souls from the other world when they pass, no matter how long it’s been.” you explained. “So that would explain why Tenseiga and bring back the dead,” Inuyasha said, everyone silently agreed.
Sango suddenly spoke up. “Why would Inuyasha’s father even need a sword like that? What could he have possibly wanted to bring back from the dead?” She asked. Shippo agreed with her. “Yeah, it seems kind of useless when he’s constantly surrounded by all these powerful demons.” He added. You smiled at their question. “That’s a good question, and it’s a simple yet sweet answer.” You said, everyone stared at you with anticipation.
“It was partly because he didn’t like losing any of his weaker friends in needless warfare, he never admitted it to his full demon comrades and friends, but he adored humans and half-breeds. He saw them as ‘different’ but a good kind of ‘different’. He always saw them as strong. They knew that their lives were short, or constantly in danger, but they lived every day cheerfully like they didn’t care. They populated and they built, never thinking about how much time they had left.” You explained, a newfound respect for the late ruler's feelings about the room. “However, the main part was for Sesshomaru.” You said.
Everyone’s eyes widen at your answer. “For Sesshomaru?” Shippo asked. “But why?” Kagome followed up. You looked at them for a moment before you began to remove the fish on sticks away from the fire, and you placed them on a large serving platter. “Because, he didn’t want to lose his son. He loved Sesshomaru so much, that he created Tenseiga to keep him safe. Sesshomaru was so small and fragile, innocent to the world around him. He was his first son and his first real purpose in his long life.” You explained, as you pulled all of the fish away from the fire.
Once they were all gone, you placed the water-filled cauldron on the fire, and waited for it to come to a boil. Everyone listened to your words intensely, when Sango suddenly spoke up. “He was an honorable man.” Sango said, everyone nodded in agreement. It was silent for a moment. Kirara's gentle snores from Sango's lap and the fire crackling were the only sounds to be heard.
Shippo then spoke up, a teasing smirk on his face. “So, did Sesshomaru also have rosy cheeks?” He asked, everyone looked at him before they all looked up in wonderment. “Yes, that is a good question, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru share quite a bit in common.” Miroku spoke up, nodding his head in agreement. Inuyasha mumbled in annoyance but he didn’t really complain. You smiled kindly up at them, your eyes shining in love as you thought of Sesshomaru when he was a young boy.
“Sesshomaru didn’t really have rosy cheeks, but they were very chubby, he was an extremely healthy baby. He was a chunky little guy for a while, but by the time he was 200, his chubbiness had begun to fade and he began to get lean, and once he did, his mother took him away to begin his royal training.” You explained as you closed your eyes at the memory. You then brought your arms up, as if you were holding a baby. “I used to hold him for many moons, even long after he began his training. He loved my cuddles, even though he’ll never admit to it. He’d always come to seek me out when he was either angry, sad, or confused. Even now, as a young man, he still comes to seek me out for some form of comfort.” You spoke, love in your voice as you thought of Sesshomaru.
They all stared at you, warmth filled the hut as they felt the love drifting off of you. “Even though, I was nothing but a lowly caretaker, I viewed myself as a mother figure for him, and something tells me that he felt the same, and he still does.” You spoke. Your hands came up to hug yourself, trying to calm your swelling heart from the amount of love you still held for him. Your body was lightly bumped on your right side and a warm body was pressed into your side. You opened your eyes, seeing everyone was looking with comedic shock on their faces. You stared at them all for a moment before you looked over to your right.
Inuyasha’s back was pressed against your side, his face turned away from everyone, but you could tell from his tense shoulders that he was embarrassed yet he meant what he was doing. ‘Inuyasha?” You questioned his name. He remained silent for a while before he answered. “I…. I’m your favorite though… right?” He quietly asked. You remained silent for a moment before you smiled at him and you leaned back into him. “Yes Inuyasha, you’ve always have been.” You comfortingly said. That seemed to ease his worries as his body relaxed. You stayed leaned into him as you looked over at the cauldron, seeing the water come to a gentle boil.
You picked up some eggs and you dropped them into the rolling water. Cooked fish and boiled eggs seemed like a good lunch for the day, you’ll make something heavier for dinner. Your eyes suddenly sadden.
‘Poor Inuyasha, he’s constantly being overshadowed by his brother, the poor boy constantly feels like he’s lesser, between his powerful father and perfect brother, he feels like he almost doesn’t even belong. But with me, he doesn’t have to pretend, he doesn’t have to play like he’s something he doesn’t even know how to be. My poor boy.’ You thought, your heart clenching from the sorrow.

You stood outside of the hut, the sky has just darkened, but no moon was in sight, it was the night of the new moon. “Sesshomaru hasn’t visited in 4 months.” You spoke aloud, Inuyasha exited the hut, a determined look on his face. “Then that means that Sesshomaru should be making an appearance soon then.” He spoke as he stepped next to you, his eyes trained on the sky before him. You looked over at him, a deep understanding in your eyes before you looked towards the sky as well.
“How can you be sure?” You asked, your voice held no true confusion. “Because, we’re brothers, we have the same goals and wants.” He explained. Your eyes stayed trained on the sky. “It’s because you’re both family, and whether you both want to admit it or not, you both care for each other. Sesshomaru will follow you from a distance, protecting you from the shadows. And you’d do the same, Inuyasha.” You spoke, your voice holding truth. He didn’t respond, a wind passing by swaying the trees, Once it passed, he lightly scoffed but he never denied your words, as he darted off towards the woods, Sesshomaru’s scent has entered the area.
You stared at his figure, watching him go into the distance, you made no move to follow him, you knew that he wanted to speak to Sesshomaru alone, a wind passed through, blowing your clothes. “Human or not, Sesshomaru would never strike you down, and you know it, Inuyasha.” You spoke, as Inuyasha ran through the forest, his nails slowly turning dull, and his pace slowed, his eyes turned brown and his hair darken, revealing his weakened state under the new moon.
You stood there a moment longer, before you turned to head back into the hut, as you entered, you saw that Kagome was up. She was sitting up in her ‘futon’, a worried look on her face. “Will Inuyasha be okay?” She asked. You stared at her for a moment before you smiled at her. “Yes, Inuyasha will be just fine.” You answered, your words holding more truth than you’re letting on. You walked to your bedding, it was in between hers and Sango’s. Shippo was asleep in Kagome’s ‘futon’, but sometimes he slept with you or Sango. You smiled at his little sleeping face. ‘A baby is what he truly is still.’ You thought lovingly before you sat down.
“Where did Inuyasha go off to?” She asked, she was worried about him, it was the night of the new moon, but you could tell it was more than just that. You observed her for a bit, you remembered talking about Kikyo earlier and you could see the resentment in her eyes while speaking of the late priestess. “Tell me Kagome, and be honest with me, does this have something to do with Kikyo?” She looked over at you in shock for a moment, before she grew sad and she curled up. Your eyes shined pity, you felt sorry for the girl, it was hard loving a man whom was already in love with another.
“Did Inuyasha tell you?” She asked as she looked at you from her peripheral vision, a slightly mixed look of resentment and guilt showed on her face. You chuckled. “No, he didn’t tell me anything, but you did.” You said. She looked over at you in confusion. “Huh? I did? When?” She asked, trying to remember admitting such a thing to you. No shook your head. “No verbally, but with your actions.” You explained, she looked over at you. “Huh?” She questioned. You smiled, understanding on your face. “The way you spoke whenever she was mentioned by Inuyasha or the others. You either looked bitter or highly defeated when she was brought up. You’re extremely easy to ready dear.” You finished off with a teasing smile.
She gave you a slightly annoyed look. “Geez, thanks.” She sarcastically said. You chuckled at her before you straightened up. “You have no need to worry dear, Inuyasha cares for you deeply. He’s just confused right now is all.” You said in a tender voice. Her cheeks redden and she looked away from you as she held her knees tighter to her body. “I-… How can you be so sure?” She timidly asked, hope along with embarrassment in her voice. You smiled at her, seeing a younger version of yourself in her. “Because he’s here with you, isn’t he?” You asked, she seemed to perk up at your words and she looked over at you.
You continued. “He may be fond of Kikyo, but he always remains with you, he could’ve been ran off long ago, but he hasn’t. He chose you, Kagome, you shouldn’t overlook that. He chooses to stay by your side, faithfully. He’d never leave you, no matter what.” You explained gently. She stared at you, her eyes gleaming in hope as she listened, she looked back down at her knees, but a small smile graced her face. You smiled, happy to see her spirits lifted. She suddenly perked up with a questioning look. “Well, if that’s the case, then where has Inuyasha gone off to?” She asked, worry back in her voice, but this time it really was for just his safety.
You smiled as you began laying down on your bedding and she mimicked you. Inuyasha calmly yet cautiously stepped forward, his garbs and hair blowing in the wind as he stepped into the clearing of the woods, his face was determined as he stared ahead of himself. In front of him, Sesshomaru stood before him. His face was unreadable as he stared at his brother’s human form. They silently stared at one another. “Why, Inuyasha has gone off, to speak to Sesshmaru. He wishes to ask him questions.” You said, as the two stared at one another.

The sun was rising, steam was coming up through the roof of the hut, the sky was blue, and late into the night fluffy clouds rolled in. The birds were chirping and the bugs were buzzing about. Shippo was outside with Kagome, they were down by the lake earlier that morning collecting water to be boiled for breakfast, they were now outside drawing in the dirt.
Kagome seemed lost in thought, yet she also seemed happy, her keens pressed up against her chest as she watched Shippo draw something in the dirt. The straw-like door was rolled up, letting in natural light into the little home. Inside Miroku, Sango and Kirara were all watching over the food. Sango was watching the rice boil, while Miroku was getting the plates ready for breakfast.
You had been made the main course of the meal at the crack of dawn, fried fish, Shishimi, and some boiled eggs. However, you and Inuyasha were long gone before the group awoken, but you did let Shippo know where you were both going, his ears are more sensitive than the others, so he was awoken from all the noise from you cooking. You told him that you and Inuyasha were going to go for a little stroll, and that when the rice was done that they can all eat as much as they wanted.
That was about 30 minutes ago, Kagome sighed as she looked up and down the path that lead to the hut, before her eyes drifted off towards the trees. “I wonder where they gone off to.” She spoke aloud to herself in wonder. Shippo looked up from his drawing, a curious gleam in his eyes as he looked up at her. “I’m sure they’re fine, Kagome. Inuyasha is pretty strong so they’ll be safe for sure!!” He said in a reassuring voice as he smiled up at her. She stared at the trees a little longer before she looked down at him. “I know, but I can’t help but feel….” She trailed off as she ducked her chin down on top of her knees, a sadden look on her face.
Shippo tilted his head some. “Feel what, Kagome?” Came Miroku’s voice as he and Sango exited the hut. Shippo and Kagome both looked over at them. Kirara, nested in Sango’s arms, meowed and jumped down next to Kagome, she looked up at her before she nuzzled her head against her hip. Kagome smiled down at her, before she gently rubbed her head. Sango observed Kirara for a moment before she looked at Kagome. “Kirara can feel that something is bothering you, care to share?” She asked as she sat down next to Kagome, her keens bent to the side.
Miroku remained standing as he stared down at her with an expectant yet understanding stare. Kagome looked around at everyone before she nervously laughed. “Uh-haha- It’s nothing, really guys. It’s silly honestly.” She said dismissively as she busied herself with petting Kirara’s fur. Sango, Mirkou, and Shippo all shared a look before they all looked back at Kagome. “It’s about Inuyasha and Kikyo, isn’t it?” Sango said, her tone sympathetic. Kagome looked over at her with a shocked worried look before she looked back down at her knees.
“Yeah, it is… I’m just…. I’m worried, that Inuyasha might be thinking about going back to Kikyo. It just feels like everything that we’ve been through means nothing to him, and I’m worried that his mom might...” She trailed off as she bit her lip and her eyes teared up. Sango gave her a sad look, she felt sorry for Kagome, she was so young, and yet she was going through this hardship. Miroku spoke up. “Are you worried that his mother might approve of him being with Kikyo?” He asked, trying to make sense of her emotions. Kagome’s silent nod confirmed it and Sango placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“It’s okay, Kagome, you have no need to worry. I think Inuyashas mom likes you plenty, you’ll never know unless you ask right?” She said in a comforting tone. Kagome looked over at her, her face slightly flustered from crying before she flashed her a weak smile. “Right.” She said. Shippo stepped to her, placing his little hand on her shin in comfort before he smiled up at her with confidence. “I think Inuyasha’s mom likes you way more than Kikyo.” He said, they all looked at him with wide eyes. “Oh, how do you figure?” Miroku asked.
Shippo closed his eyes and he puffed his chest. “Because Kagome technically brought Inuyasha back home, he wasn’t anywhere near Kikyo when we first came here, so maybe she figured that you convinced him to come home.” He said in a factual tone. Everyone stared at him in silence, his words soaking in. “You know...’ Sango trailed off. “He kind of has a point.” Miroku finished. Kagome stared at Shippo a little longer, before she beamed a real smile at him. “Thanks, Shippo, you actually helped me. I think you have a point.” She said, Shippo smiled up at her, his tail slightly wagging behind him, happy to have made Kagome feel better.
“It’s no issue, Kagome, I’m always here to help!!” He cheered, Kagome chuckled before she gently ruffled his hair, and he leaned into the touch. “We should eat breakfast now, we don’t want the rice to stick,” Sango suggested. Everyone nodded as they all headed inside to have a warm breakfast. Kagome’s worries were cast away with the wind.
-------------;✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩ͯ•͙͙✧⃝•͙͙✩ͯ┄•͙✧⃝•͙┄✩̣̣̣̣̣ͯ------------------
You and Inuyasha have been walking for about 30 minutes now, Inuyasha has been reminiscing about his childhood. He pointed out the tree he used to play on, he pointed out the flower bed that he helped you plant, and he even pointed out the new path in the woods that was never there before. You explained to him that it was for village men to travel to and fro from Village to village more easier, they kept getting lost so eventually someone made a path. You both walked a talked about pieces and parts of his childhood, it was nice to revisit the fond memories with him.
In your walk, Inuyasha suddenly paused, his eyes trailing up the large tree not too far from him, you stared at the tree for a moment, before a smile crossed your face when you noticed what it was that he was staring at. It was a tree with his claw marks, which he used to mark his territory when he became a young teen, his instincts told him to do so.
He walked up to the tree, the marks came up to his chest, and his eyes sadden, his fingers tracing over the dull markings now. You walked up next to him. “I’ve been gone for a long time, huh Mom.” He said aloud to himself, you didn’t answer, feeling that it wasn’t a question, but a thought.
He scowled and his hand pressed into the tree. “You told me that Sesshomaru came by to visit every few new moons. Why?” He suddenly asked, he didn’t look at you, his eyes staring at the marks but not truly seeing them. A wind passed by, blowing both of your clothes and hair in the wind. “He came for questions.” You answered honestly. He turned his head slightly to you, but he didn’t look at you. “What questions did he come for?” He asked. You stared at him, calmness swarmed you, but you knew that your answer could change the wind.
“He wanted to know more about Tessaiga, and Izayoi.” You answered, the wind picked up and you tensed but you didn’t turn away. His fist clenched, and he turned towards you, but he wasn’t angry, just curious. “I can understand why he’d want to ask questions about the old man’s sword, but why about my mother? And why did he come to you for questions?” He asked, he felt…. Lost and hurt…. That you’d give Sesshomaru answers and not him. Why? He deserved to know. You took in a deep breath and you walked towards him, he watched as you walked past him, sitting down on one of the thick roots of the tree with his claw marks.
“Sit down, Inuysaha.” You gently ordered as you touched the space next to you. He eyed the spot, and he moved to sit down next to you. You both sat in silence for a few seconds before you spoke up. “Sesshomaru wanted to know where to find Tessaiga, but I denied him his request.” You explained. His eyes widen. “Why?” He asked.
You smiled to yourself before you looked at him, your hand gently coming up to caress his face, he leaned into it, and it made your heart swell. “Because, he told me that it was meant for you, Inuyasha, and I refused to break an old friend’s promise.” You said softly. His eyes shined in understanding before he looked confused once more. “Then what about my Mother? Why did he want to know about her?” He asked skeptically. You smiled fondly to yourself before you pulled your hand away from his cheek, and placed it in your lap.
“Because, Sesshomaru knew that Tessaiga and Izayoi were connected.” You explained. His eyes widen and his ears perked up. “Mother had a connection to Tessaiga? But how? Last I checked, Tessaiga is a demon sword.” He said, confusion danced in his eyes as he tried to understand it all. Your smile never left as you looked up towards the leaf-covered sky. The thick branches were full of wide, green leaves.
They covered the sky nearly completely, but the wind blowing made the sky viewable. “Because, Toga told Sesshomaru that he must have someone worth protection.” You explained. Inuyasha remained silent as he listened. You continued. “You see, Toga learned, that in order to use Tessaiga, your heart must be cleansed of all hatred for those who doesn’t deserve your wrath, but your protection.” You explained
Inuyasha’s eyes gleamed. “So, is that why I can use Tessaiga and Sesshomaru can’t? Is it because of Kagome?” He asked, as he paced his hand on Tessaiga’s hilt. You looked away from the sky and over towards him. “No, it’s because you were born without hatred.” You said, your eyes holding many tales from a land that doesn’t exist anymore. He looked over at you. “Born of hatred?” He asked. You nodded your head. “Yes, you see, all demons are born with hatred in their heart for those weaker than themselves. They crave to be the strongest and to rule the lands, but you were born from a human woman, making your heart cleansed at birth.” You explained, hoping he understood.
He looked at you for a moment, his features flickering again from his mother's to his father’s as he thought of your words. “But, then wouldn’t that mean that my father wouldn’t be able to wield Tessaiga?” He asked as he looked down in his lap. You smiled, you figured he’d ask that. “That’s exactly the case, Toga wasn’t able to wield Tessaiga for many moons.” You said, he turned towards you, his eyes gleaming an unfamiliar gleam. “Really?” He asked curiously as he leaned towards you some, he was greatly curious.
You nodded your head, a fond smile on your face as you remembered your younger years. “That’s right, Toga wasn’t always dubbed as “The Great Dog Demon”, he was once your average hound demon, whom was just as clumsy and just as wild as you were.” You said, your voice lively from the sweet memories of a younger Toga. Inuyasha’s face brighten slightly with an amused smile. “Was he really? I just always figured that he was always great… but I guess that everyone has to start somewhere.” He said as he looked up at the sky in wonder.
You giggled a bit before you looked over at him. “Mmhmm, that’s true, every creature must start somewhere, no matter how ‘great’ they were before they passed.” You said in a factual tone. He stared at the sky a little longer, listening to your words, his eyes danced through the leaves, but you could tell that he wanted to ask something. “So? How was he able to…. Ya know… cleanse his heart or whatever?” He asked before he looked at you. Your smile softened and your eyes warmed. “It was because of Sesshomaru.” You said. He lightly gasped at your words. “Because of Sesshomaru? But how?” He asked, he was confused. If Sesshomaru was the cause, then why didn’t Sesshomaru know how to wield Tessaiga?
You looked down at your hands, your left hand cradled in your right, as your thumbs rubbed each other. “Sesshomaru doesn’t understand how to wield Tessaiga, because it was on the day he was born, that Toga learned to wield Tessaiga.” You explained. Inuyasha blinked….. “Huh?” He questioned as he gave you a dumbfounded look.
You looked over at him with an amused grin. “Silly boy…. It was because of Sesshomaru’s birth, that Toga, for the first time ever, truly had something important to protect, a being that was weaker than himself, so fragile and innocent to the world, needed his protection. He told me, “It was like the joyous feeling to ever overcome me. My heart bloomed and my chest felt tight, and Tessaiga, for the first time ever, pulsed.” That was the day he learned, the secret to wield Tessaiga.”
You told him, and he stayed silent for a while, soaking in your words. “So, why didn’t he give Sesshomaru Tessaiga when he was old enough to use it?” He asked. You answered. “It was because Sesshomaru’s heart was shrouded in darkness, he knew, that if he gave Sesshomaru Tessaiga, then it’ll be a blood bath for all creatures lesser than himself. So Toga gave Sesshomaru Tenseiga.” You explained, you almost wanted to laugh when Sesshomaru came to you with a complaint, but there was nothing you could do.
Inuyasha smirked. “Hah! Serves him right, he gave him that useless sword.” He teased, you smiled sweetly before you reached up and snagged on his ear. “OW! OW!! WHAT I DO!? IT’S NOT LIKE I’M WRONG!!” He complained as he howled in pain. You humphed as you pinched his ear a little harder, making his hands hold onto your wrist. “It’s not a useless sword, it can bring back anyone from the dead.
It’s powerful when used correctly.” You schooled as you held his ear. “OKAY, OKAY!! I GET IT, JUST LET ME GO!!” He yelled. You held it a little longer before you let it go. He sat back up straight and he rubbed his ear. ‘Sheesh, fingers of steel.” He lightly complained under his breath. You looked over at him, your ever-sweet smile returning to your face.
“Perhaps we should test these ‘fingers of steel’ on your other ear, hmm?” You asked as you made a pinching motion with your fingers. He flinched back as he covered his ears and he shook his head. You breathed in and out before you looked back up at the sky, you could see a large cloud crossing over. The sun was just now making its way to the 10:00 am mark. “Tenseiga was given to Sesshomaru, so that he could learn to cherish life, and Toga knew the day would come, when he’d resurrect someone from the dead. Someone who he deemed worthy of his protection.” You explained.
Inuyasha had stopped rubbing his ear in favor of listening to you. “Someone worthy of his protection…. Rin.” He said, his eyes widening in realization. You nodded your head. “Yes, the young girl whom he now travels with, she’s fragile enough to be needed of his protection, and I can tell, that she’s wormed her way into his ever demonic heart. He’s highly protective of her.” You explained, a fond smile on your face as you thought of yours and Sesshomaru’s recent meeting.
Inuyasha looked at you in thought, before realization came in. “Wait, how do you even know Sesshomaru? I thought he didn’t like half-breeds and Humans.” He said, his eyebrow arched as he questioned you. You looked over at him with a mischievous yet happy look. “Why I was considered as his favorite caretaker when he was just a boy.” You said. He stared at you for a moment before he looked at you with a face of horror. “You took care of that beast, then you sure did a shitty job at it.” He said as he eyed you. You gave him your ever-sweet smile as your Jaki flared up.
He flinched from your demonic aura and he jumped into a branch on the tree. You took a deep breath before you stood, you stretched your limbs out, stiff from sitting in one position for so long. “Come now, dear son of mine, I have lunch to make and I’m making your favorite, just for you~” You chirped happily as you called up towards him, he stayed in the tree, a fearful look upon his face as he looked down at you. “That would sound nice, if you weren’t oozing out malice.” He said as he could see your ever-loving smile, but the dark aura of promised punishment flared up behind you. You giggled sweetly at his words. “Why you silly boy, I have no idea what you’re talking about.” You said as you lightly fanned him off.
He ducked back further on the branch. “How can she say that with such a kind smile?” He said aloud to himself in fear for his life. He perked up when he noticed that you began to walk back to the hut, you waved behind yourself as you walked. “WELL, I’LL SEE YOU BACK AT HOME THEN!! I’LL BE SURE TO TRY AND LEAVE SOME FOR YOU TOO!!” You said, as you walked away. He stared at you with an annoyed look, before he jumped down from the tree. He placed his hands into his sleeves, prepared to stalk off after you, but he stopped and looked back at the tree.
His old claw marks have dulled throughout the years, and his scent wasn’t as strong as it used to be. He wanted to feel sorry for himself and claim himself to be a bad son for not visiting. Hell, even Sesshomaru visited and she wasn’t even his damn mother. He grunted in irritation before he walked up to the tree, and placed his palm on the claw marks. “A new moon is going to come soon, and when it does, I’ll be the one to talk to you this time.” He said, his eyes holding determination before he sunk his claws into the bark and he made a new mark into the tree with a determined cry. “Sesshomaru!”

Everyone was sound asleep, their bellies full of warm food. You and Inuyasha were the only two awake, you were both outside, staring up at the moon. It was full and bright, with not a cloud in sight, the stars were bright as they twinkled their little lights. It was truly a beautiful night. You’ve both been out for a few hours now, enjoying each other's company in silence. You were the first to speak up.
“How have you been, Inuyasha?” You asked wanting to know of his being. He remained silent a little longer before he spoke up. “Pretty good, I guess.” He vaguely answered, he wasn’t the best at expressing his emotions, but you were more than used to it. You were always willing to wait for him, and wait you did, and you were rewarded greatly.
“I’ve just been confused lately.” He admitted. You looked over at him, a look of concern on your face. “What ails you so?” You questioned him. He looked away from the moon and down towards his lap. “Well, do you remember Kikyo?” He questioned. You blinked, how could you not?
She was the first woman to ever love your son, and she would’ve been the first to whisk him away too, but then you learned of her untimely ending, and Inuyasha vanished. You stayed up many nights, waiting for him to return, but he never did. “I do… does this have something to do with her?” You asked, as you briefly looked towards the hut before you looked back at him. He looked at you with a slightly shy look, but he nodded. “Sort of.” He said. You nodded your head in confirmation before you reached over and you rubbed his back tenderly.
“I just can’t seem to understand it, I still love Kikyo… but my heart beats strongly for Kagome. I want to hold Kikyo and leave with her, but I want to have Kagome as my one and only.” He said, his face seemed strained, and stress lines began to crease under his eyes as he thought over his dilemma. Your hand never stopped rubbing his back, which relaxed his worries.
“Silly boy… you shouldn’t be stressing like this, it’s bad for your health.” You lightly scolded him, he scoffed at your words but leaned into your comforting rubs. “You shouldn’t be thinking with your mind, but with your heart… from my understanding Young Kikyo is dead, so you shouldn’t think about the yesteryears but the future.” You advised. You didn’t truly understand what was going on, but you had an idea of what transpired.
Inuyasha sighed, he sounded irritated. “Can you not speak to me in riddles? I get that enough with the old hag.” He complained. You smiled up at him, pleased to hear that he was still your same boy. “Well, to place it simply, from what you told me, you love Kagome more than Kikyo.” You said, he looked over at you and he opened his mouth for protest, but you held your hand up stopping him. “But… you’re having a hard time admitting that to yourself, you loved Kikyo for so long till you can’t see yourself parted from her, I understand. I was in love once too you know?” You said in a factual tone.
This seemed to catch his attention. “Really? I just always figured you were too much of a witch for someone to love you.” He teasingly yet somewhat seriously said. You gave him a kind smile before you slammed your fist against the top of his head. He hissed in pain as he grabbed the top of his head, a sizable bump grew on top of his head and he glared at you with a teardrop in his eyes. “OW!! WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT FOR!?” He complained as he shouted at you.
You huffed as you glared at him, the fire in your eyes made him flinch back. “Watch your mouth, because last I checked you love me too, right, dear son of mine?” You threatened said as you glared at him. “E-uh-R-right.” He nervously said. You closed your eyes as you calmed down with a deep breath, before you looked up at the moon, fond memories of your younger years, long before Inuyasha’s time.
“I was once in love with a demon… he was as beautiful as the moon, but he had the heart of a human.” You explained, Inuysaha’s eyes gleamed with curiosity as he listened to you. “He was fierce and strong, yet he was so gentle. He believed in protecting humans and half-demons alike, in his eyes we were all equal under the sun. None was more superior than the other.” You explained, your voice laced with love as you spoke.
Inuyasha blinked before he gave a small smile. “What kind of demon was he?” He asked, he was greatly curious, this demon who loved all. You smiled sweetly. “He was a great Fox demon… The Great Kitsune of the North.” You said, pride in your voice as you spoke. Inuyasha’s eyes widen. “Great Kitsune of the North? What was he, a king or something?” He asked. You looked over at him. “Yes, he was a very benevolent king at that too.
He ruled his lands with an iron fist but with a heart of gold.” You said, your eyes shined in excitement. Inuyasha’s smile widen. “What happened to him?” He asked. Your eyes dimmed some and your smile slightly dropped, but it never lost that look of deep love.
“He died, doing what he loved most. Protecting those he loved.” You said, Inuyasha gave you a somber look, before he looked back at the moon. You both remained quiet for a while, but the silence was welcomed. Your eyes widened when he wrapped his arm around you, giving you a hug, you looked over at him with a surprised look. “He was an honorable man, and I’m going to live out his legacy.” He declared. Your eyes widen at his words and you lightly gasped.
He looked down at you with a determined glare. “I know, he isn’t of my blood, but I’m going to look up to him like he is. My Father and The Great Kitsune share one thing in common that I have within me.” He said, your eyes stared at him intensely as you tried to anticipate his words, but he shocked you with his answer. “And that’s their love for all creatures.” He said, your eyes widened, and tears gathered in them before they went back to normal.
You smiled up at him, your heart swelled with pride in the boy you raised. You hugged him tightly to you and he responded in kind. “Inuyasha, Kudagitsune would’ve been ever so proud to call you his son, no matter your lineage.” You said you felt him relax into you and knew your words made him happy. “Even Toga would’ve been very proud of you.” You said, a knowing look on your tear-stained face, and you weren’t shocked when he stiffened, but he never pulled away.
You both stayed that way for a while, it’s been so long since you held him, and even after all these years, he still fit so snugly in your arms, just like he did when he was a young boy, it made your heart sing. “Mom, did you know my father?” He suddenly asked. The wind picked up, and you knew this talk would have to happen sooner or later. You nodded your head in confirmation. “Can you tell me about him?” He asked, his hold on you tightening when a chiller wind blew through. You smiled, happy to see that he was still so protective of you. “I can, and I will, but not tonight.” You said evenly. “Then when?” He asked.
You pulled back from him and he loosened his hold. You looked up at him, seeing his mother and father's features flash in his features showing his anticipation. You smiled at him sweetly as you gently caressed his face. “I’ll tell you everything you’d ever want to know about your family, but you’re not ready yet.” You gently said.
His eyes gleamed sadly as he snarled in frustration. “Why does everyone keep telling me that?” He growled. You stared at him with compassion. “Because you still do not know who you are yet. You haven’t truly accepted all that you are and all that you want.” You explained. He pulled back from you slightly, but he never pushed you away.
“Oh great, here we go again with these riddles.” He fussed, you chuckled as you pulled your hand from his cheek and you stood from your sitting, he stayed put but he watched you. “Ah, always the impatient one, you and Sesshomaru both inherited that from your father, he was the same way.” You teasingly said as you giggled. His eyes widen and he quickly stood. “Sesshomaru? How do you know that!?” He asked, his eyes wide in confusion.
You looked at him with a blank yet sweet look. “Oh? You didn’t know?” You asked him, he growled in irritation. “KNOW WHAT!?” He shouted. You stared at him a little longer before you delicately covered your mouth and chuckled. “Why, Sesshomaru visits me every few new moons.” You confessed. He stepped back in shock. “HUH!? SESSHOMARU COMES TO VISIT!? SINCE WHEN!?” He yelled. “Why, he always has, long before you were ever born.” You said.
His eyes were wide in shock as he stared at you dumbfounded. “Wha- wha- huh?” He said. You chuckled at his confusion before you gently petted his head. “My sweet, sweet little Inu, I’ll tell you more about it tomorrow, until then a growing boy needs his rest.” You said as you wagged your finger at him. He blinked from his stupor as he stood up straight. “Ha!? What the hell do you mean by ‘Growing Boy’? I’m a grown-ass man.” He said as he jabbed his thumb at himself. You nodded at his words, ignoring everything he said before you grabbed his arm and you began dragging him behind you into the hut.
“Come along now, Inuyasha, you need some rest, I’m starting to see some eye bags and that’s never healthy. You’ve been staying up for too many nights in a row and it’s time for a proper rest. Come on, come on.”
“Wh-wait! I- I don’t need no sleep!! Hey, are you listening to me!? MOM!! Hey!! I’m not as fragile, I don’t get no ‘eye bags!!’ HEY!!!”
You dragged him into the house, he struggled halfheartedly as you dragged both of your beings into the hut. The bright moon stared down at the reunited small family, here white light casting judgmental observation, as the winds passed by.

They all stared at you in shock, and confusion as they looked between you and Inuyasha. “Adoptive… Mother?” Sango asked as she looked at you with an owlish look. You nodded your head at her before you looked around at the others, Miroku spoke up next. “I never knew that Inuyasha even had any sort of living family.” He said as he looked back at Inuyasha who was still sitting with his eyes closed. Shippo, sitting next to Kagome added. “I didn’t either, I just sort of figured that he was alone.” He said, Kagome nodded.
You smiled gently at the lot, before you looked over at the cauldron, seeing the rice swell, you picked up the spoon and steered the rice in the cauldron some. “Yes, I took Inuyasha in when he was still just a boy. He was just wandering around in the forest when he stumbled upon my home.” You explained, they all sat quietly, as they listened to your tale. “He was dirty and hungry, yet fierce and frightened, he seemed to have been fighting for survival.” You continued, you gently tapped the spoon on the rim, knocking off any access rice from the spoon before you place it back on its resting stone.
You looked back at Inuyasha over your shoulder, a fond smile on your face as you stared at him lovingly. “He was distant yet so sweet. He always came back for either a snack or a warm bed. He wouldn’t stay long at first.” You said. “But the more he came, the longer he stayed, until one day, he just never left… He would follow me around the hut and the forest like a little duckling. He was ever so sweet.” You said in a sweet voice as you placed your hand on your cheek and you closed your eyes. Kagome smiled. “Wow, so he was a sweet kid huh?” She said a slightly teasing tone in her voice.
Shippo joined in, a smirk on his face. “Yeah, so big, bad Inuyasha was a mamma’s boy.” He said. Inuyasha growled lowly in warning but they ignored him. “It would only make a scene, seeing as how protective he is.” Miroku chimed in, his eyes closed but a teasing smirk placed on his lips. Sango nodded. Inuyasha's eyes opened and he glared at the lot. “Would you all stop picking at me!” He accused. They all gave him a kind yet knowing smile. He snatched his head off as he angrily glared at the wall next to him, but his glare fell and a thoughtful yet distant look crossed his face.
They all stared at him in wonder before they followed his gaze. Kagome blinked before she asked the question everyone was thinking. “What’s that?” she asked as she pointed. You looked up at her before you followed where she was pointing and a sweet smile graced your face. “Ohh, that was Inuyasha’s when he was just a small boy.” You said as you stared at the wall. Inuyasha stared at the wall a little longer, memories crossing his mind of when he was a young boy before he looked away from it. He stared down at his lap, a distant look in his eyes. “You still got all that old junk?” He asked in a soft voice.
You smiled at his words before you looked over at him. “It may be old, but it’s far from junk.” You said, your eyes warm with love. On the wall, there was a bamboo shelf, upon it was a pale, red ball. It was slightly worn but it still looked to be in good condition. Next to the red ball was a small wooden, handcrafted spinning top. It was painted with red and white stripes but it was faded much like the ball. Next to the spinning top was a small vase. It had a picture of a white dog, with a lady and a small boy.
The lady was wearing a blue like Kimono, while the child wore a white outfit similar to Inuyasha’s red one. There was one giant tree and one little hut. The painting was faded but was taken well care of. The last thing on the shelf was a white folded up cloth, it seemed to be two stacked upon one another, folded neatly. “Are those items...” Sango trailed off. “Inuyahsa’s?” Miroku finished. They all looked over at you, and you nodded.
“Those items were Inuyasha’s childhood toys. The little red ball was given to him by his mother, the spinning top was crafted by the nice old man who was always traveling by, the vase was created by the young girl from the village, and the white clothes were once Inuyasha’s when he was a child.” You explained. Kagome looked over at the items, a thoughtful look on her face. “They’re all gifts.” She said.
You nodded at her words. “Yes, he wasn’t usually accepted by villages or by demons, but travelers who were passing would give him gifts. He used to help them find their way through the thick forest that once surrounded these lands, most humans couldn’t always find their way out, the greenery was much too thick. Some were fearful of him, while others were fond of him, but they were always grateful.” You said, as you stared at the items once more.
Mirkou looked up at the shelf, he pointed with his staff towards the vase. “Earlier, you said that a young girl from a village gave you that vase. Who was she? Did she paint that picture?” He asked. Surprisingly, Inuyasha spoke up this time, his arms crossed as he angled his head upwards. “She was from a village that was beyond the forest. She got lost one day and I had to help her find her way back. The stupid girl was angry at something small and wandered off, she’s lucky I was there to help.” He explained in an annoyed voice. They all stared at him, listening to the memory.
You remained quiet, as you moved the cauldron from over the fire, seeing that the rice was done, you placed it on a large square resting stone. “She was angry? Why?” Shippo asked, everyone seemed to be thinking the same thing. Inuyasha huffed. “It was over something really dumb, but it doesn’t matter anymore, she’s long gone now.” He said, his annoyed voice slowly faded into a somber one. Kagome perked up. “Gone?” She questioned. Sango looked down, her brows creased in slight sadness. “She’s not of this world anymore.” She said. They all stayed silent.
You silently drank from your tea cup, allowing the group to talk among themselves. Inuyashas broke from his sudden saddened state and snatched his head off. “It doesn’t matter anyways, she was dumb and really annoying, she always came around and I’d always have to walk her back. How do you get lost on the way back home? It was a straight walk.” He ranted, an annoyed look on his face as he slapped his hand on his knee. ‘sounds like she really enjoyed your company.” Kagome said. Shippo nodded. “Mmhmm, and it sounds like you liked her too.” He said, Miroku nodded in agreement. “I agree with Shippo, it sounded like a young romance.” He said.
Inuyasha’s cheeks flushed a light pink as he glared at them. “Would you both shut it!! How would you know, you weren’t even there!!” He said, his voice a growling annoyance as he tried to defend himself. Shippo jumped on Miroku’s shoulder, a knowing look on his face. “I don’t know Inuyasha, from what we hear it sounded like you liked her.” He said in a teasing voice. “WHATEVER!!” He shouted as he turned away from the two. Everyone laughed at Inuyasha’s misfortune, mostly just happy to get a deeper look into his history.
You smiled fondly at the sound of their laughter, as you prepared their plates. “Her name was Ima. She was a sweet girl, she painted the vase for Inuyasha as a thank-you gift.” You explained, answering Miroku’s question and explaining a bit more. They all stared at you, listening silently to your words. “Ima was always running away from home, there was always great trouble from her village, the violence was rather high, and to get away from it all she’d come here.” You explained more.
Their eyes widen at your words. “A village shrouded in violence? But why?” Kagome asked. “It was a great famine among the land. In order to survive, many would sell their young. Preferably young girls, it was to make ends meet.” You somberly explained. Their breaths hitched at your words. “That’s awful.” Sango said. “They never even got a chance.” Kagome said. You nodded your head in agreement. “It was a different time, it was more rougher than it is now. She gave that vase, as a thank you, but also as a parting gift.” You explained as you looked up at the vase.
“A parting gift?” Mirkou asked. You nodded, but Inuyasha answered before you did. His back was facing the group as he looked down at his lap. ‘She died… she was sold away for money, but before she could be taken, she took her own life.” He quietly explained. A sadness fell over the group, before they all looked up at the vase, the small ceramic now holding more weight to it than it did at first.
She was a victim of domestic violence and famine, but she was Inuyasha’s first friend and her first real taste of relaxation. “How old was she?” Kagome asked. You placed a plate down, three of the plates were already made, and you had three more to go. “She was 7, and her birthday had just passed before she died. She knew she was being sold, so for her birthday gift, she gave Inuyasha the vase and she stayed here the whole day. Then, she just vanished.” You said.
A heavy silence weighed over the room, Mirkou stood up and he walked over to the shelf, they all watched him. He stopped in front of the shelf, his eyes trained on the vase, before he closed his eyes and bowed his head, his hand coming up for prayer. Before he could start, he heard movement, and he opened his eyes, he looked around and he could see his friends. Kagome, Sango, Shippo, Inuyasha, and yourself, all stood in front of the shelf, your head bowed in respect. Miroku smiled before he closed his eyes and he said his prayer.
“Ima, you were young yet kind, you showed the kindness you wished you could have to someone you saw as more unfortunate than yourself. You gave and you cherished, you no longer belong to the earth, but your memory remains strong. I do not know you, but your kindness will forever be with me. May you rest in peace.”
They all stood in silence for a while longer, they opened their eyes and they stared at the vase. “Poor Ima, she was so young.” Kagome finally spoke up. “She truly was.” Sango said. Shippo nodded. “There’s no point in being sad, she’s in a much more better place now, so instead of being sad we should be happy. She could’ve suffered far worst.” Inuyasha said, he was straightforward about it.
Kagome wanted to scold him for sounding insensitive but you spoke up. “He’s right, she could’ve been in a far worst place than where she was when she passed, so we must rejoice in her memory.” You said before you walked over to the plates, they all watched you, and one by one they all joined you around the fire.
Inuyasha was the last one left near the shelf, he looked at the group, he was about to step behind them, but he stopped and his eyes widen. “Thank you, Inuyasha.” Came a childlike voice. He quickly turned his head around and looked behind him. He stared in a bewildered daze before he looked up at the vase. He stared at it for a moment, before he gave a small but meaningful smile before he walked away from the shelf.
He joined the group around the fire, ready to raise hell with Shippo over his sashimi. You smiled at his never-ending childish ways, happy to have him home once more. The vase on the shelf glowed from the fire as their shadows danced over it, the happy laughter of a child echoed.
