i made this blog i recently started interning as a listener with an mental health service called 7 cups 💞 i noticed that a lot of people on tumblr benifited from suicide hotlines and other crises hotlines, which is amazing, and i thought i could make this site even more of a safe space with awesome resources by sharing what 7 cups is all about :)
so, to summarize, the core function of 7 cups is a completley free online mental health service where you can chat anonymously with trained volunteer active listeners about anything in your life— from ocd, to family issues, to depression, to an eating disorder, etc— even if you are not in an immediate crisis like traditional hotlines usually are made for ! there are also group chats with community activities like sharing circles, informational guides, a goal path, etc :) if this all sounds good to you, here is the link! 💞 https://www.7cups.com/19416979
i chose to become a listener, and then an intern, for two reasons. first, i noticed how much of a difference in people’s lives i was making just through listening to people my laptop. i realized what a powerful tool 7 cups really was, and that i needed to take advantage of it to do as much good in the world as i possibly can. second, it gave me a new perspective on my life and the world. i came to 7 cups because i was going through some mental health issues and needed a listening ear. when i became a listener myself, i realized that when people say “you’re not alone”, they really mean it. hundreds of people are going through universal issues that have the ability to make us feel so alone in our battles, but in reality, everybody struggles with mental health. we’re all in this together, and i just felt sadness yet a great sense of wisdom from hearing from dozens upon dozens of people who are going through very similar things. i could go into this deeper in a million different directions, but i’ll save that for another time :)
so, this blog will serve as both a positivity + mental health tips blog, a personal diary for my 7 cups journey, my personal diary in general, and a safe space where you can send in asks about anything you need to get off your chest 🤍☺️
if i can help even 1 person via my 7 cups journey, i know i’ll have done my job.
love, sabrina
