A Judgment Before Hades
In the shadowy realm of the underworld, where souls tread lightly and fate hangs heavy, one mortal stood before the imposing figure of Hades, lord of the dead, to be judged. But this judgment would not unfold as expected, for the events of this mortal's death had left even the god of the underworld perplexed.
As the mortal trembled before the throne of Hades, the dark lord surveyed them with an inscrutable gaze. "Speak," commanded Hades, his voice a rumble like distant thunder. "How did you meet your end?"
With a quiver in their voice, the mortal recounted the tale of their demise. "Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera came to me," they began, their words hesitant yet filled with an undeniable weight. "They asked me whom I thought was the most beautiful."
A hushed murmur swept through the chamber, and the air grew heavy with anticipation. The immortal trio, known for their rivalry and beauty beyond mortal comprehension, had descended upon the realm of the living, seeking validation of their divine allure.
"And what was your answer?" inquired Hades, his voice a low growl that echoed through the cavernous hall.
The mortal's voice wavered as they spoke, recounting the moment with a mixture of awe and trepidation. "I spoke honestly," they confessed, their eyes meeting Hades' unwavering gaze. "I spoke from the depths of my heart."
Silence descended upon the chamber like a shroud as the weight of the mortal's words hung in the air. The gods themselves held their breath, waiting with bated anticipation for the mortal's revelation.
"And what did you say?" demanded Hades, his voice cutting through the stillness like a blade.
With a trembling breath, the mortal uttered their fateful words. "I declared that true beauty lies not in outward appearance, but in the depths of the soul," they declared, their voice ringing with conviction. "I proclaimed that each of the goddesses possessed a beauty unmatched in their own right, for they are divine beings beyond mortal comprehension."
A ripple of astonishment swept through the assembly as the mortal's words echoed through the chamber. Never before had such audacity been spoken in the presence of the gods, and the implications of their words hung heavy in the air.
For a moment, Hades was silent, his expression unreadable as he considered the mortal's words. Then, with a voice like thunder shaking the earth, he spoke. "Your words defy convention and challenge the very essence of divine beauty," he declared. "Yet they bear a truth that cannot be denied."
And with that pronouncement, the fate of the mortal was sealed. For in speaking truth to power, they had earned the respect of the gods themselves, and their soul was granted passage to the Elysian Fields, where they would dwell in eternal peace and honor.
And thus, amidst the drama and intrigue of the underworld, a mortal had dared to defy the gods themselves, and in doing so, had earned a place among the immortals for all eternity.
