You know I have followed Taylor Swift from the first day she played on the radio and I have pushed her on my daughters as an amazing role model. I remember watching her in an interview and she talked about picking up everything and moving to Nashville. I often wonder how her parents felt. But more importantly, how much faith do you have to have in your child to pack up everything you own and leave everything you know to help your child follow their dreams.
I always swore that if my kids wanted to do something that I had complete faith in doing, I would do it. I would pack up everything and move. Well the day as come. Arry wants to be an artist and she has a chance to go to a really good school to learn to be the best artist she can be. She can’t go alone, so I am taking a page out of Taylor Swifts parents playbook and I am leaving everything I know to allow her to follow her dream.
I need a little bit of help. Hopefully someone will see this and help me help her realize her dream.

{Riverdale has done Ethel Muggs so wrong…}
Hello there!
      My name is Arabella but you can call me Arry, if it’s easier. Ah yes, Riverdale… The Television Show that should be renamed ‘Character Murder Of The Archie Comics’. From cringey writing, to brick-like acting, to dramatizing the characters. It is fair to say that I am not the hugest fan of Riverdale and you would be right. I have never even watched an episode, I just watch clips and yeah… it sucks. And of course, it could come down to that I am a 19 year old girl who is way past the audience they are aiming for. So it doesn’t really matter what I think. And I don’t think that much of this show, to begin with. But there is one character in particular that just… irks me. Not for the reason that she irks everyone else who watches this show. And that is Ethel Muggs. Riverdale has done Ethel Muggs so wrong. Let’s invade the topic!
(Who Is Ethel Muggs?)
   Okay, so before we start. There may be a question on your mind that I will answer here. Who is Ethel Muggs? Ethel Muggs is a reoccurring Archie Comics character who has a huge crush on Jughead. Her first appearance was May of 1962. And Ethel Muggs isn’t exactly introduced as a bombshell like Betty, Veronica and Cheryl. She is seen as being tall, lanky and having horrible fashion sense. Yet slim. Over the years, Ethel’s character has changed the most. From removing the buck teeth, actually giving her some fashion sense and showing that Ethel is actually beautiful. She just isn’t a bombshell and that is okay. Over the years in the comics, we see various sides to Ethel that make up for her appearance. She’s funny, intelligent, likeable, kind. She has shoulder length black hair, pale skin and big eyes. Having a similarity in appearance to Jughead (picture here). And despite Jughead constantly turning down Ethel’s advances, it is shown that he does care for her because he gets jealous when she is seen with another guy. Ethel knows that Jughead likes food and uses that to her advantage by having excellent cooking skills yet she is shown having other interests too. In the comics, Betty and Jughead do not have any relationship status because if it’s not Ethel and Jughead, it’s Sabrina and Jughead. So Ethel has an unexpected friendship with Betty Cooper.
(Comics vs. Television Show)
     The television show does the complete opposite of Ethel’s character. Ethel is shown not to have an interest in Jughead, which is okay. Riverdale was clearly going for Betty and Jughead. Yet, they changed a lot about her physical appearance (picture here). They have her have reddish brown hair, hired a slightly overweight actress for her and dressed her like a 50s grandmother. Ignoring Ethel’s quirks. Ethel is introduced as a quiet, shy girl who focuses on her schoolwork and stays to herself. The opposite of Ethel in the comics who can be a bit too talkative and out there. Ethel starts off as a good person though who is traumatized by a lie spread by a jock. She isn’t vicious or inconsiderate. She’s just there. Showing to be at least somewhat accurate with her comic counterpart. Until the show needed more drama and then poor Ethel became a victim of Character Murder. She changes like a snap of a finger. She goes from this quiet, shy girl to a vicious, antagonistic and despicable human being that every viewer of this show hates (for what I am told). She has a vendetta against Veronica and Betty and is seen as vengeful and petty. She’s the not-so-pretty, unpopular girl who can’t dress yet is a bully to the prettier girls. Even Jughead shows disgust towards her in the show which is not as humorous as it is in the comics where he just rejects her from time to time. Ethel’s role is taken away by Betty, a much more beautiful girl that it is shown that Ethel is seen as ugly. That Ethel couldn’t get a guy like Jughead. She had to force Jughead to kiss her during a weird board game… Which is a complete 180 from the humorous joke in the comic books where she had on peanut-butter flavored lipstick that made Jughead want to kiss her.
(So why does this matter?)
     What’s the big issue, Arry? It’s a remake, it is not going to be exactly like the comics. There has to be villains. I am entirely aware of that. But Ethel is a relatable character to those who aren’t exactly seen as beautiful or have insecurities. They took the average girl and made her a villain because they didn't want to have her with Jughead. They wanted people to hate her. She is completely disregarded for this exact reason. Her character was never meant to be how it is in the comics because… she was seen as ugly by the producers. That is why they casted who they casted as her instead of a tall, slim girl because they wanted to have her seen as the more stereotypical ugly. I mean Shannon Purser was in another film where she cried over how ugly she is. Making Ethel more on the heavy side was like forcing her to have an actual issue with her appearance. Yet, Ethel being slim and insecure is normal. It would give girls who are skinny and insecure someone to relate to. She is rejected by Jughead over and over again. She doesn’t see herself as beautiful in the comics. Despite being tall, skinny and overall beautiful. She compares herself to other girls and see herself as less. That is relatable as the guy she wants doesn’t really care that much for her. But Ethel shows that sometimes looks isn’t everything. Archie enjoyed his date with her (despite having been on dates with both Betty, Veronica and Cheryl) because of her personality. And Jughead gets jealous from time to time when Ethel is with other guys. Unlike in the television show, where Jughead and Betty’s relationship is mostly built on physical attraction and even sexual attraction (despite the fact that Jughead is asexual). In the comics, Ethel gives more of a connection with Jughead. She gives more of a connection with everyone. Despite not being out there beautiful, she doesn’t deserve to be made a villain so Betty can have an enemy. She doesn’t deserve to be made into a hated character or a stereotypically ugly character. Or to be made delusional and petty. The sad truth is, Ethel wears unflattering clothes due to her insecurities over her body because it has been proven that once Ethel wears the right flattering clothes, she has a nice body. She just doesn’t see it because she has insecurities.
(What Could Have Been With Ethel Muggs?)
     If Riverdale had an ounce of writing talent, I honestly feel like Ethel Muggs could have been a relatable and likeable character who faced realistic issues with body insecurities. She could have been a tall girl with shoulder length black hair and pale skin who had a great body. Yet hides underneath unflattering clothes such as oversized sweaters, knee length skirts, knee high socks, unfitted tops and multiple layers. Someone who is sociable and out there, always brightening up the screen whenever she is on yet deep down inside, isn’t as joyful as she seems. Someone who hides her problems from the world and does her best to make sure everyone else is happy. Instead of making her a villain towards Betty, they could have made her insecure towards Betty. Betty is this beautiful girl that everyone aspires to look like and Ethel feels less than her. Especially if they kept the Betty and Jughead relationship and Ethel still having a crush on Jughead. Yet Ethel wouldn’t be petty or vengeful or antagonistic. She would want Jughead to be happy. A more realistic personality is that Ethel would want everyone around her to be happy, even if it sacrifices her own happiness. She’s intelligent, funny and kind yet also sad and lonely. She sees something else than how she actually looks. Ethel could have been a great character who would face body issues that even skinny girls face or even Body Disphoria. She’s someone who can’t get the guy, no matter how hard she tries. And they could develop her character to where she starts feeling more confident and face her body issues head on. She befriends the group and becomes an occasional help. She realizes her beauty and self-worth, slowly but eventually. And stops chasing Jughead. And maybe Jughead could see Ethel’s self-worth too and start to like her. Ethel and Jughead could have had a sweet bond where she comforts him and makes food for him. But this is all disregarded because Ethel is seen as the ugly girl compared to Betty. They wanted Jughead to have a hotter girlfriend.
      This is just some of my personal thoughts on the situation. Riverdale is a nasty mess with a lot of character issues but the treatment of Ethel Muggs always hurts me. Especially since she could have been a magnificent character. If you have any opinions you want to share, feel free to share them. Again, this is my own opinion. {The Murder of Alternative Character Design}
Hello there!
    My name is Arabella, but you can call me Arry if easier. You may be looking at the title and feeling a bit confused by it. “The Murder of Alternative Character Design” may be quite a confusing title and leave others wondering what the hell it even means. But that is why I am here to spread awareness about this horrible phenomenon that is going on in recent pop culture. Especially with superheroes. ‘Alternative Character Design’ to me is when a character (usually a superhero) looks different from the traditional standard of the type of character they represent. I can name quite a couple of alternatively dressed superheroes who get made into more traditional wear or boring wear in their live-action debut. So let’s invade the topic!
(The poor costume design recently...)
    I don’t know if you have noticed but the quality of costume design and the importance of comic accuracy has lowered in demand. It seems now like live-action adaptations of a comic book character just throw whatever they can to seem “different” or “out there”. Yet it murders the costume design to begin with. Recently in “Birds of Prey”, one of my favorite DC female characters ‘Black Canary’ has had her main outfit leaked on set. And there are no fishnets to be seen or a bodysuit or anything that represents the character in the comics. I personally love Black Canary for that reason with how different she looks and how she isn’t afraid to wear leather, fishnets and reveal skin, things that could be seen as hooker-ish. She rocks and makes it look stylish and badass. Yet in Birds of Prey, it seems like they went for a more ‘preppy’ approach where nothing about her screams ‘Black Canary’ but perhaps the colors. Even then, black and yellow in DC and especially to non-comic book readers just screams Batman. Netflix recently released a show called “The Umbrella Academy” and I don’t really know much about the comics except that it was created by My Chemical Romance babe Gerard Way who I grew up listening to his music. Even after they broke up. It saddened me to see the complete difference from the comics to the actual live-action adaptation. The art is nearly killed with the inaccuracy as Allison Hargreeves doesn’t have her awesome purple-blue hair. Klaus didn't have his awesome skull shirt, ouija pendant necklace and signature bright orange hair. Diego’s long, blond hair is completely disregarded despite the lack of longer hair on dudes in superhero shows. All of this is disregarded for a more preppy, modern and “up to date” look that kills the character design that made the comics look so different in the first place. And it’s Gerard Way’s creation for crying out loud! He was part of an alternative group! They didn't look nearly as normal as the people in the show look. Even Klaus looks normal compared to how these people used to look. It’s changed for diversity and relatability to other characters but where’s my representation? Where’s my second personality’s representation? And this isn’t just on DC’s end. Marvel does this as well with my favorite X-Men character, Kurt Wagner, a.k.a Nightcrawler. Who seriously wore a Thriller jacket in X-Men Apocalypse. It was the worse outfit I have ever seen on Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler in the comics is basically Gothic. He wears dark clothes, looks kind of scary to the point where people fear him on a daily basis, and has hints of red here and there. The usage of color in Kurt’s design is usually creative and done justice. Now I could understand if they were going for a more X-Men Evolution Kurt but even then, the outfit was better and Kurt is rarely seen as blue in that outfit because when he is blue, it is shown to hardly work with being blue.The colors don’t go well with his skin. Also, his personality is a lot different to X-Men Apocalypse’s but we are talking about character design not writing. And can someone please show Legion FX how to dress punk people? Don’t say David Haller is punk when you hardly dress him as punk.
(Why is this an issue?)
     So, why is this an issue? You may ask me when reading this post. They’re characters, Arry. They aren’t always going to be comic-book accurate. Why are you so upset over all of this? As an artist, to me, character design and clothing choices is just as important as personality. Appearance is the first thing you see of anyone and it can say a lot. You express yourself through your appearance more than you think. When creating a character, I always make sure that I have the character design down pack. It’s my favorite thing to do. I am not against preppier clothing or modernizing things. I understand that this is something that has to be taken into consideration when taking a character and placing them in live-action. There are some things that are too difficult to carry over. But why make a live-action adaptation of something if you are not going to use the version that everyone who reads the comics is familiar with? What’s wrong with having abnormally colored hair? I get that diversity is a hot topic right now and it’s amazing that everyone is getting representation in one way or another. But diversity goes deeper than just skin tone. I have never seen a true alternative like character outside of cartoons that was done right. And I have tons of favorite goth girls in cartoons (Gwen & Crimson from Total Drama, Sam Manson from Danny Phantom, Mandy from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Triana Orpheus from Venture Bros, Jinx & Raven from Teen Titans, The Hex Girls from Scooby Doo, Rogue from X-Men Evolution, Joan of Arc from Clone High, Marceline from Adventure Time, Marie from Ed, Edd, and Eddy.) the list goes on. These aren’t characters you see in live-action though. These aren’t female characters that are even considered in live-action or even superheroes for that matter. And comic books are incredible for the reason that you don’t have to conform to normality. You can make any character you want. That’s why we have such unique characters in comic books and even in cartoons. Justice Friends has a colorful witch named Miss Spell and Valhallen is a metalhead. This is one of the many reasons why Neil Gaiman has been picky and harsh over making his Sandman comics into live-action because Sandman features so many subgenres of styles. Goth and punk, mostly. These characters aren’t represented in live-action adaptations. They are forgotten about or normalized. Kurt Wagner is a background character and they still couldn’t dress him how he is in the comics. The Umbrella Academy normalized its characters a lot in clothing choices. And it’s sad. There are people who dress like this and should be able to see themselves in at least one superhero. Kurt Wagner teaches us that not all goths are gloomy and depressed or dangerous. He’s a goth with a pure soul and good heart. Sandman comics make Death and Dream and Delirium seem normal, like they don’t have to change to be liked or good-hearted. They are who they are. The Umbrella Academy basically showed that you could wear abnormal costumes, have colored hair, have longer hair for a dude and still be an awesome superhero. X-Men has tons of abnormally colored hair characters that rarely make it onto the big screen, they are usually brought to small screen like Blink and Polaris in The Gifted. And in Legion FX, the most evil and villainous character is a punk. David Haller is not a good person on Legion nor can he be considered an anti-hero anymore. He is a despicable being with a god complex. Punks already get the bad rep of being dangerous, angry, and mean-spirited. Do we really need a character in mainstream media to be punk while also had killed multiple people and raped his girlfriend? That’s not progressive, that’s moving backwards. Superboy doesn’t even have his leather jacket, leather gloves and black circle sunglasses anymore with his undercut. He’s just narrowed down to a tee shirt and jeans most of the time.
(How can we change this issue?)
     I am not exactly sure. I know it seems kind of lame to like… bring up an issue and then not offer a solution. I feel like the best way to fix this problem is to hopefully notify costume designers that the world is in need of different styles. Their designs are not “out there” or “different”, as the comic book characters designs were already out there and they completely changed them. I am a huge judge when it comes to costume and character designs in live-action adaptations and I may make a post on why that is. I feel like we need to open our eyes to newer looks. To give some representation to those who dress differently from others. The issues that I brought up are already done and over with. Bad representation for punks as evil and villainous. The Umbrella Academy normalized every character, even Klaus. And hopefully Marvel can give us the Nightcrawler that we deserve as Fox no longer has the rights. All we can do is hope that this comic inaccuracy is a pasting phase and that creators will soon give the outcasts a voice and a chance for better representation. To stop being the villains or bad guys.
     This was a short rant that I felt had to be done and I had to explain some issues. I hope you enjoyed my post and agree with some points that I made. If you have any questions on the matter, feel free to message me. If you like this post and want to see more like this, feel free to follow our Tumblr! {How To Dress Similarly To Your Favorite Cartoon Characters Pt.2 (Using Five Examples!)}
Hello there!
     My name is Arabella but you can call me Arry, if it’s easier. I don’t know about you but I basically grew up on cartoons. I watched Cartoon Network all day and I used to get so much inspiration from cartoon characters that probably followed me into my older years. Personality and fashion-wise. Have you ever wanted to dress similar to one of your favorite cartoon characters yet not wanting to look like a cosplay or costume? Well, you’ve come to the right gal because that is exactly what I am going to be helping you with but before I get onto the five examples, we must go over some basic knowledge. Fashion can say a lot about a character, especially in cartoons where the clothes rarely change. It has to be iconic yet true to the personality being demonstrated in some sense. Five things go into analyzing and copying a cartoon characters style: 1) Color Palette 2) Aesthetic 3) Overall Impression 4) Fashion Items 5) How It Shapes Their Personality? These are five things we are going to keep in mind during our five examples. Let’s invade this topic.
(Nazz)
   Nazz from Ed Edd n’ Eddy is probably one of the easiest old cartoon characters to make modern. Especially since her style has come back into trend with layering. Now I didn't grow up with Ed Edd n’ Eddy because my mother was fearful that I would develop behavior similar to the boys. But whenever I did see images of it or short scenes, I loved Nazz’s fashion (next to Marie’s). Starting with the first thing to think about when recreating a style of any cartoon character, color palette. A color palette is quite important especially when it comes to cartoon characters because these colors can be forever associated with this character. Nazz’s color palette includes black, white, denim, red, and occasionally green. These colors are great because they can go great with each other and makes a strong color palette. Nazz’s aesthetic is a mixture between Girl Next Door and Tomboy. She has boyish elements that allows her to be ‘one of the boys’ yet she also has a fun, flirty girly side. The third thing to consider is the overall impression of their clothes to the world around them. Now this may seem odd but this is worth consideration because it depends on how you want to be taken. As people judge upon appearances and your clothes can say a lot about you. Nazz’s overall impression and how it makes people see her is that Nazz is seen as very attractive and everyone wants to hang out with her. She’s the female character that has a lot of friends and is overall popular and kind. She isn’t the stereotypical mean girl despite dressing nice and being friends with a lot of people. She breaks that stereotype and shows that you can be cool yet nice. The fourth thing to consider is fashion items, unless you are planning on copying Nazz’s style piece by piece. It is great to really observe it and take pieces of it that may fit into her character yet is good for everyday use and not a cosplay. Remember, it’s all about inspiration. With Nazz, I recommend for tops, basic plain color shirts, crop tops, ringer tees, cropped sweaters, and cami tops. For bottoms, high waisted shorts, basic jeans or ripped jeans, flared jeans, and pleated skirts. For shoes, sneakers like Vans or Converse. For accessories, a quirky pair of sunglasses. And last but not least, the fifth thing to consider is how does her clothes shape her personality? Nazz’s clothes shape her personality in a sense of how she wants to look good. Nazz is very particular on how she looks and despite being confident, is upset if she looks anything but good. Her appearance is very important to her. It shapes her personality in how she likes hanging out with boys more so over girls in the show and is seen as one of the boys due to how her clothes aren’t overly feminine. She’s a great beginner choice for people who want to try this out.
(Mandy)
   Ah yes, the girl I aspired to be when I was younger and probably scared my mother some more. Mandy from Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. This is a fun character because her outfit… is completely different from her personality. She wears a pink flower dress, mary-janes and a headband. She looks like an innocent, girly girl but Mandy is evil. She’s a good type of evil but is still evil. Mandy’s color palette depends on where you want to take from it but I gathered white, black, pale pink, pale blue & pale yellow (counting the flower) and purple (her eyeshadow, at times). But if I was going to dress similarly, I would just do white, black and pale pink as the other colors are mere colors compared to those main three. Mandy doesn’t exactly have an aesthetic instead I guess she would be gothic with pink and a sort of doll-like quality. Mandy’s overall impression is that people mistake her for being sweet and innocent although her parents are terrified of her, everyone is mostly terrified of her. A grim reaper is terrified of her. Her clothes are deceiving but everyone knows that she is a very unhappy person due to her constant frown which was even in there inside the womb. Now onto the fun part, clothing choices. For jackets, I would suggest something like a Lazy Oaf jacket style (like their chore jackets) and oversized cardigans. For tops, mock necks, crop tops, layered shirts with a mock-neck under a shirt. Also pinafore dresses and a-line dresses. For bottoms, high-waisted shorts and pleated skirts. For shoes, mary-janes or sneakers. And for accessories, always have a headband on and maybe some skeleton or creepy accessories like a coffin backpack. Mandy’s clothing shapes her personality in a way for humor, she’s this scary person who can almost be a villain yet edges on being an anti-hero at most. It’s complete satire that she looks sweet and innocent with a gothic personality. So have fun with it because if anything, she shows that it’s not what is on the outside that counts after all. There’s a very creepy personality behind that color of pink.
(Sam Manson)
     Another favorite female character of mine. Okay, let’s say… that you don’t like pink or want to be a secret Goth. There is plenty of gothic female characters to choose from. But one of my favorites has always been Sam Manson from Danny Phantom. I mean, I loved that show in general. And I loved Sam’s design, even though I wasn’t allowed to wear crop-tops til I turned 18. Her color palette is purple, green, black. You’ve noticed that cartoon characters always seem to have a simple color palette. And of course, Sam’s aesthetic is gothic, even though she could also be eco-goth since I remember an episode of her wanting to save the Earth and becoming a vegetarian. For fashion choices, hm. For jackets, I feel like she would wear hoodies, oversized black denim jackets, and long coats or even a varsity jacket. For tops, crop-tops, band tees, mock-necks, muscle tees, fishnet tops and sheer tops with something underneath. If she wore a dress, it would probably be black and an a-line, once again with a mock-neck. For bottoms, plaid skirts, checkered shirts, pleated skirts, ripped jeans with fishnets underneath, high-waisted shorts. For shoes, Doc Martens, sneakers, mary-janes and platforms. For accessories, knee-high socks, fishnets, tights, chokers, patches and enamel pins, belt, and a cool backpack. Sam’s overall impression is kind of hard to sum up in a small summary since Danny Phantom is so complex so I recommend watching the show to get a better idea but it’s never really brought up as a main point in her character how she dresses. She’s a great gothic character for inspiration though.
(Valhallen)
   Okay now the first three characters and five characters of my last post were all girls. For those, who may not know Valhallen is a male character from “Justice Friends” which originated as a short from “Dexter’s Laboratory”, are you following me? Let’s say you’re a dude or you want to dress similar to a dude character. Valhallen is a great character to start with as he is a very simple character to modernized because you don’t even really have to go off his sense of style to dress similar to him. His color palette consists of black, yellow, and silver. Pretty simple. His aesthetic is kind of surfer mixed with metalhead mixed with Nordic god. He was created to be a parody of Thor. Which he succeeds greatly with. What is the overall impression of Valhallen? Well, he is quite a ladies man. He is definitely seen as the more attractive member. Valhallen doesn’t have much of an overall impression except the fact that the ladies love him from all realms and he is a fan favorite character. Onto the fun part! Fashion items. Now I chose Valhallen, because no offense but he does have a feminine touch on clothing that can easily be feminized. The dude wears a midriff. For jackets, denim jackets would suit, perhaps with patches of your favorite metal bands or enamel pins. For tops, crop-tops, midriffs, band tees, muscle tees, fishnet or sheer tops with something underneath, cropped camis. Don’t be afraid to show a lot of skin on your upper body. For bottoms, ripped jeans, basic jeans, high waisted shorts, bell bottoms. For shoes, knee high boots. For accessories, headpieces, fingerless gloves, studded jewelry, spiked belts. How does his clothes shape his personality? Well, he’s The Viking God of Rock. He has to look the part and this is basic metalhead fashion with God twists similar to Thor. He’s a goofy character who is hilariously rad and doesn’t take himself too seriously and his clothes show that. He’s less out there than Major Glory but can stand out more than The Infraggable Krunk. He’s obviously the more free-spirited one who isn’t afraid to be himself.
(Judy Jetson)
    Here is what I like to call expert mode because unlike the other four who have easily modernized looks. Judy is from the future yet has a vintage twist. Her clothes are not something a typical teenager or young adult would wear in this day and age. I mean, someone who isn’t as weird as me. So you have to kind of reinvent her and make her suit your taste yet keep elements about her that are amazing and what makes her lovely. Judy’s color palette is pale pink, red (in some lighting), darker pink, white and black. If anyone asks you about a known fact of me… I love pink with red and pink with black. I also love pink on pink. And Judy Jetson has two of my favorite pinks where it’s not Barbie Pink or Too Pink. The overall impression of Judy, well she’s seen as the teenage girl of the future. She’s boy-crazy, fun, has exciting hobbies, can be quite moody and sassy. She loves dancing, attends high school and spends her evening listening to her favorite boy bands. Parts of Judy have travelled into the future as I related to her a lot when I was sixteen. And still do! She can get out of hand sometimes and I feel like all girls do, even into early adult years. I’ve had my moments where I have overreacted. Onto fashion items! Now, with Judy, as I said before, you are going to have to reimagine outfits for her. With jackets, I suggest fit and flare, perhaps long jackets, something to show off the figure however. With tops, crop-tops, mock necks, fitted tops, fun bodysuits, sheer tops, about anything that is cool. With bottoms, flared skirts or pleated skirts, mini skirts, high-waisted shorts, suspender pants, pants or jeans. For dresses, pinafores, figure hugging, a-line. For shoes, sneakers, flats, boots, platforms. A tip for seeming more futuristic is adding in color palette fitting metallics and holographic. For accessories, tights, knee high socks, circle purses, star shaped things, hair bows, headbands, funky sunglasses, vintage gloves, roller-skates if you skate.  How does Judy’s clothes shape her personality? Well, her outfit is very youthful compared to her mother’s. She has more of a spark and quirky sense. Her clothes really show that she is bubbly and charismatic. She is out of this world. Something that I feel like girls should be more confident to try to be. To be unapologetically themselves. Just because her outfit isn’t exactly the future creators in the 60s were thinking of. It doesn’t mean that we can’t carry traits into this world.
    That was how to dress similarly to your favorite cartoon characters, part two! If you want to see part one, click here! Feel free to follow for more posts like this. Also feel free to like and reblog if you enjoyed it! I may turn this into a series as they are always a lot of fun. Just be you and have fun with fashion! I post every Wednesday and Saturday so I will see you on Wednesday! Peace out!

I am an adult colourer so I already saved the palettes you made! Would love some based on steampunk.
    I am so happy that you saved the palettes I made! I hope that you enjoy them and find them helpful for your coloring journey. I will be glad to make some based on Steampunk and watch out for the blog for some similar to that. Thank you for your suggestion! -Lydia.

{5 Fashion Items I Will Be Trying Out In 2019}
Hello there!
    My name is Arabella but you can call me Arry, if it’s easier. You may not know but I lost 20 pounds in 2018 and lost a lot of inches off my waist and hips. I was overweight at 160+ pounds and barely fit into a size 15 in jeans and an XL top. After Christmas and noticing how much weight I have gained through years of depression and binge-eating. I turned my life around and started exercising and eating healthier which I may make a post on. I am currently down to 140 pounds and fit into a size 10 in jeans and a Medium in tops. With that comes new confidence that I never knew that I had nor needed. So I am going to be trying a lot of new fashion items this year that are in trend or that I personally like. Yet I narrowed it down for five to save you some ear room. Let’s invade that topic!
(Berets)
    Okay, okay… I can hear my mother reading this and going, “You’re obsessed with berets!”. This isn’t exactly a new thing but I have to add berets because even though it’s not new. I feel like I have felt more confident in berets than before. If anyone knows me, knows that I love berets. I am just a hat person in general. So, it is really important to me that I add at least one hat item on this list. If you want a hat that comes in a wide range of colors, can basically go with every outfit, and add a bit of vintage flair along with some character. Berets are your hat best friend. And you don’t even have to hold up a Starbucks drink to make it better. In fact, berets are so in trend at the moment that they come in styles that suit various fashion styles such as vintage, preppy, punk, edgy and even goth. And I have actually worn a beret in Summer and I didn’t sweat nearly as much as I would with a beanie of some sort. So, you may even get to wear them with your summer outfits or bathing suit.
(Mock Necks)
     Mock necks are a trend that I have been pining after since everyone has been wearing them. They go with everything. They look cute. They are practical with every style. I think we see a pattern in my taste of fashion items. I don’t buy a lot of clothes so I like my items to be versatile and practical. I first wanted a mock-neck top when I watched Legion and saw Sydney Barrett (portrayed by the beautiful, Rachel Keller) wearing one. I mean, that is also why I love the combination of black and orange. But before I lost all this weight, I really felt that wearing mock-necks was near impossible for me because I had a very round face so I thought it would make my face super wide and unattractive. Since I have lost weight and my face has slimmed down a pretty good bit. I will now feel more comfortable in mock-necks and want to try them out. As you may see in my (5 Ways To Dress Similarly To Your Favorite Cartoon Character), I recommended a mock-neck for almost every single character. They’re great, they go with everything and you can even pair them under things. It’s my dream top.
(Fishnets)
     Okay, now this isn’t really a practical item because fishnets do not go with every style now. Or every outfit. Yet I love fishnets! I actually wore fishnets when I was in fourth grade, one time. Then they went out of style but they are back! You can wear a fishnet dress, a fishnet top, fishnet tights, you can wear a fishnet bodysuit if you want. Fishnets under tops, under dresses, under ripped jeans with the band showing if you wear a crop top. I want to embrace my inner Black Canary and be that bad of a bitch. I can’t say it enough as to how much I want to start wearing fishnets. Just fishnets. May I say more? Probably not. Onto the next one!
(Mini Skirts)
     There are three problem areas that I must face in order to feel confident. My stomach, my thighs and my face. My whole previous wardrobe included high-waisted jeans because I felt that it covered my stomach enough to make me look slimmer and to slim down my thighs. It was sad. So I am going to force myself out of my comfort zone a bit and try to wear mini skirts. I don’t know mini skirts just make you always look so sexy and they can go with any outfit. Again, practical! They can be pencil, flared, a-line, pleated. If you want to go for the schoolgirl look. I need to show off my legs more and this will have me do it, that’s for sure.
And the fifth one is… -drumroll-
(Leather Skirts)
    Everyone knows that leather skirts can either work for you or be the devil. Especially if you get one that’s a bit shiny and can show any pudge you may have for a stomach. I love the look of patent leather skirts and they can go with anything that may embrace my other, darker side. Or you can get a leather skirt in a more cutesy color like purple or pink. But… the fear is, that it may make you look 4 months pregnant at most. Yet I am going to kick my insecurities in the ass and try a leather skirt. Mostly because I want to embrace my inner X-Men Evolution Rogue who would totally wear a leather skirt.
       Those are five fashion items that I am going to be trying in 2019. Hopefully, the Fashion gods are in my favor and everything goes okay. I hope you enjoyed the post and feel free to follow our blog if you do for more! Also feel free to reblog and like! I post every Wednesday and Saturday! See you Wednesday! Peace out!

{50 Facts About Me}
Hello there!
      My name is Arabella but you can call me Arry, if it’s easier. I did have a post planned for today but it is still in works so I decided what better way of having a post out today that may not take as much work as rushing through a post like a last-minute essay than to tell you fifty facts about myself. So, you can know a bit more about the younger half of this Tumblr. Let’s invade the topic! Or my privacy, either one.
1) My full name is Arabella Rose Lockwood. 2) I am nineteen years old. 3) I was born on September 16th, 1999. 4) Which makes me a Virgo, if anyone is curious in seeing if we are compatible. 5) My favorite food is either pizza or pasta. 6) I know several cuss words in Russian (thanks to Life Of Boris). 7) I am an artist. 8) At 19 years old, I am still unashamedly watching cartoons from my childhood. 9) My worst fear is the future and change. I hate growing older. 10) My pet peeve is probably when someone gets easily offended by something. 11) 2018 was a huge weight-loss journey for me and a lifestyle change. 12) I suffer from depression, anxiety and PTSD. 13) Yet I try to not let my mental illnesses take control of my life or define who I am. 14) As a child, I would call red kool aid ‘blood’. 15) I wanted to be a vampire. 16) Always dealt with having a hard time sleeping so I am a complete night owl. 17) Nosferatu is my favorite vampire film, even if it is incredibly hard to watch due to my short attention span. 18) If I was an X-Men character, I would be Rogue. 19) If I was a female superhero, I would probably be Batgirl (preferably Barbara Gordon) or Starfire, both I was compared to a lot as a child. 20) If I was a female villain, I would be Poison Ivy (maybe Harley Quinn as well). 21) If I was a Powerpuff Girl, I would be Buttercup (although I may also be Bubbles). 22) My favorite cartoon character as a child was probably Shaggy from Scooby Doo. 23) I wanted to be Velma as a child but I grew up to be more like Daphne. Yet I am probably a mixture of both. 24) I wanted to be Raven as a child but everyone I met insisted that I was Starfire from Teen Titans. 25) I have a severely dark sense of humor where I frighten my own self. 26) My favorite adult swim television shows are Venture Bros, Superjail!, and Metalocalypse. 27) My favorite type of music is metal and rock, with some old music in there. 28) My favorite eras are 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s with some 40s mixed in. 29) I love traditional pin-up models and how they look. 30) My mother feared of me becoming a nudist because I hated clothes as a child. 31) I still have a hard time not wanting to just go nude. 32) I love aliens a lot! And I consider myself to be one. 33) I would rather live in a Jetsons future than any other future. 34) Judy Jetson is an amazing female character who I relate to. 35) If I was a Looney Tune character, I would either be Lola Bunny or Marvin The Martian. 36) I would love to see “Justice Friends” from Dexter’s Laboratory be turned into an indie film that is light-hearted and humorous. 37) If I was a Cartoon Character, I would probably be Jane and Daria’s love child. 38) My favorite film directors are Wes Anderson and Tim Burton. 39) My favorite artists are Ursula Decay and Ana Godis. 40) My favorite 60s television shows are The Addams Family & The Munsters. 41) I always wanted to be Wednesday Addams. 42) I am a bisexual. 43) I am judgemental over character design, especially in superhero live action media. 44) My least favorite superhero is probably Superman. 45) I am a bit obsessed with fashion. 46) Dirty humor is the best type of humor to me and I do it a lot. 47) The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is one of my new favorite shows. 48) Titans was the biggest disappointment to me in 2018. 49) I would love to learn French, German, Italian and Swedish. 50) Last but not least, I am just me. Take it or leave it.
