Oh Weeping Woman, the Past Haunts
TWST X YUU
Summary: "There was a spooky old river nearby Ramshackle, and Yuu recalls bad memories associated with it. She tells the story of the legend surrounding her friends, but they all said it was a myth. Until it wasn't."
AO3 Link: here
warnings: mentions of death, and implied (accidental?) murder
word count: 1035
other things to note: inspiration for the fic embedded in the first line ; Spanish is used, albeit breifly
--
Her screams light up the night
Her face fills you with fright
And still with all her might
She yearns to make things right
Yuu stared at the river in front of her, the familiar feeling taking hold of her entire being. There was a legend, she recalled, about a river like this, filled with fog and obscurity.
“What's the deal with this creepy river?” Yuu heard Ace say, the boy holding up a lantern.
“There’s a story with a river like this,” Yuu quietly comments.
“A story?” Deuce asks, looking around.
Yuu nodded.
“It’s about a woman, who…”
For them, they’ve lost their lives
She warned them of the dive
She prayed that one survived
Yet none of them arrived
“That’s creepy!” Grim yells loudly.
“Quiet!” Yuu tells Grim, “She’ll take you down if she thinks you’re her children!”
“Please,” Ace laughs, bringing the lantern closer to Yuu, “She’s just a story told to kids to make them behave. We know better.”
Yuu remained quiet, but her face betrayed everything- if her furrowed brows and frown were anything to go by.
“Still, it’s a pretty effective story,” Deuce comments, “It’s not safe for children to be near rivers during the night without supervision anyways.”
“As if you’re one to say.”
“What does that mean?!”
They’re gone, they’re gone, she yells
So on, so on, church bells
Of tears and salt she smells
There are no last farewells, farewells
Yuu stared at the river again, this time alone. She knew there was something there, though she couldn’t quite place her finger as to what it was.
Yuu crouched down, and touched the dirt beneath her.
“Mis hijos…”
Yuu’s eyes widened, and she stood up, looking around frantically as to where the voice came from. The same stomach ache returned, though this time it was stronger, so strong that Yuu’s knees weakened, forcing Yuu to kneel.
Still, they held their head up, searching for the voice.
But they couldn’t find the source.
La llorona que pasó
     Por qué lloras mi amor
   Y los niños dónde están
En el río duermen ya
Memories began flooding in.
“I’m sorry…”
“My sons…”
Yuu was only a child when it happened.
She was out with her cousins on a night like this, the two older boys pestering her to take a dip in the river. But she didn’t- she wholeheartedly believed the weeping woman who strolled by, searching for her missing children.
But her cousins did not.
She walks, hands dripping wet
She looks really upset
She was never a threat
Yet no one will forget
It happened so fast- one moment, they were cheering as they played in the morning, but the next moment, Yuu heard screams. Yuu was scared, but her concern for her relatives outweighed it, so she pushed forward, daring to inch closer and closer to the forbidden river.
“Lo? Mao?” Yuu called out, “Lorenzo! Mario! Where are you!?”
Faintly, Yuu heard a cry for help.
“Yu..u…. … ayuda….”
Yuu dove into the river, and began to frantically search for her beloved cousins, unaware of the figure roaming around, whispering like a broken record.
“Mis hijos…”
For them, they’ve lost their lives
She warned them of the dive
She prayed that one survived
Yet none of them arrived
Yuu had searched for hours and hours, until the sun rose and still, there was no sign of Lorenzo and Mario.
Her mother and aunt arrived not too long after, their eyes red and puffy, and their voices hoarse.
“Mija… Where are your cousins?”
“I don’t know,” Yuu replies, on the brink of crying, “I don’t know! They- ma, they were here! But then I… I heard them shout!” A tear fell out.
Her aunt’s face paled.
“And… and I went into the river!” Yuu explains, “To look for them, tía, I swear. Pero…. No los encuentro. I can’t find them… Please help-”
“Mi amor,” her mother gently says, “They’re gone.”
Yuu shook her head, “No! I know they’re around! We just-”
“They’re gone, mija.”
They’re gone, they’re gone, she knows
Yet from their graves they rose
Her insanity grows
Just as the river flows and flows
A funeral was held after the event, the entire family coming to grieve. Yuu was a doll, sitting still, face blank and unmoving. No one asked her questions, nor did she speak to anyone.
It was a quiet affair.
The only reminder of the event was the scar on her left wrist, from a rock that was in the river.
La llorona que pasó
Por qué lloras mi amor
Y los niños dónde están
En el río duermen ya
Yuu looked around- why were these memories just flooding back in at this moment?
But a look into the river, a look at her reflection, told her immediately.
Hair black as coal, she noted. Attire to that similar of her mothers and-
Her eyes black as night.
They’re gone they're gone, she digs
I slaughtered them like pigs
I drowned my f*****g kids
Their necks their necks, they cracked like twigs
A wail ripped from her throat, and she grabbed her clothes, tearing and ripping them. Pieces of the uniform fell to the ground, until all that was left was tattered cloth that barely covered them.
And for a moment, the memory of the bodies came to mind. It was hidden deep in the crevices of her mind, that she had completely forgotten about them, and how they came to be like that.
Her body was heavily, breathing ragged and her limbs limp.
She turned her head to the side, and faintly she could hear her friends.
They’re gone they're gone, she cries
Her eyes cast to the sky
She never said goodbye
And now’s her turn to die
Her left wrist began to hurt, and the moment she saw Ace and Deuce within her vision, it began to fade to black. All she could do was reach out to them, but to no avail.
La llorona que pasó
Se te fueron tus hijos
Como va la excavación
Para ti no hay salvación
The last thing Yuu recalled was the sound of her name being called, and the sensation of burning.

Love your Yuu/Twst stories <3. When you have time, can you make one of Leona/Yuu? Flirting (conscious or unconscious with glances or touches; banter).
It's not very long, but I did what I could with my limited schedule.
---
“Get up, you’ll be late to your class, Leona.”
Leona didn’t move, nor did he open his eyes at the voice- he knew what would happen.
And Yuu did too.
It was routine, really. Yuu came into the botanical garden to find Leona, in Ruggie’s stead, urging them to wake up. Leona wouldn’t wake up, and Yuu usually resorted to doing something- a hug, a kiss of sorts- anything really- to get Leona to wake up.
It is only when Leona was satisfied did he actually go to class- though not without dragging Yuu along.
“Tsk.”
Leona remained still, waiting. He heard Yuu come closer, the sound of their footsteps quiet and slow, yet purposeful. He felt them nearby, face hovering over him.
Leona was tempted to open his eyes, but decided against it.
Then he felt it- a ghost of a kiss against his forehead.
“If you want me to go to class,” Leona began lazily, “You must do better.
Yuu clicked their tongue.
Nonetheless, Leona felt Yuu hover over again, this time, a firm kiss instead of the ghostly one like earlier. It lasted for only a second longer, but Leona took what he could get.
“That’s better,” Leona says, “Now, now… what to do..”
“You need to get to class, you lazy lion,” Yuu firmly replies.
“Right, that’s a thing.”
“We should be going, Leona. I don’t want you to repeat your year again, otherwise we’ll soon be in the same year.”
Leona chuckled, “Now, what would be so bad about that?”
Yuu gave a deep sigh, tugging on Leona’s arm, “No time for that nonsense, you need to get to class. Come on, I’ll escort you there.”
Leona gave up- as much as he wanted to stay with Yuu, he knew there were limitations.
“Fine,” he began, “But, next time, we take our time, alright?”
“...”
“Alright?”
“Alright.”
Quietly, Yuu took his hand. Leona didn’t say anything, though he did squeeze their hand.
The walk to Leona's classes was quiet, but comfortable.
"You better not fail, lazy lion."
Leona only shook his head, a smile on his face.
"Will do, herbivore."

Take Our Leave and Go
TWST X Yuu
Summary:" Yuu works as a whaler, and it's hard work. But Azul pays good rum for it, and Yuu can't miss the opportunity to drink rum with Ruggie, so they continue on with their work as a whaler, until they take their leave and go."
AO3 LINK: here
warnings: death involvment
word count: 1,665
--
There once was a ship that put to sea
The name of the ship was the Billy of Tea
The winds blew up, her bow dipped down
O blow, my bully boys, blow (huh)
Yuu stared at the sea before them- it was a bright sunny day, windy enough that the ship sailed fast.  The ship rocked, but it wasn’t something to be concerned about. Yuu had been out on the seas for a long time, and had acquired what one may call, “sea legs”.
Sailing the seas wasn’t exactly something that Yuu had wanted to do, although they needed the money, so they hunted whales alongside with others.
Something caught Yuu’s eyes, and so they notified their captain.
“Captain! There’s a whale!”
She had not been two weeks from shore
When down on her a right whale bore
The captain called all hands and swore
He'd take that whale in tow (huh)
“Let’s bring ‘er in then!” A voice shouted in turn.
Everyone went into a frenzy, rushing about, getting everything prepared.
A harpoon was brought over, and Yuu was told to man it.
“You do it, Yuu! You spotted it, so you get first chance!”
Yuu nodded, so they aimed at the whale.
And they shot.
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum (hey)
One day, when the tonguin' is done
We'll take our leave and go
Time on land was fleeting, but if there was something that Yuu liked about being on land on the few rare occasions, it was rum.
The pub was filled with Yuu’s colleagues, everyone cheering and singing, surely getting drunk. Their pay was a few madol, and a few items. Rum, which was on the house, was one of those items.
And so Yuu drank their pay.
Take our leave and go
“Are you the one who spotted the whale?”  A new voice said.
Yuu looked up, to see a handsome man wearing an attire atypical to what everyone else was wearing. It was more sophisticated, something that only a businessman of sorts would wear. Not something that a whaler would wear- and Yuu should know, after all, they were a whaler.
“Oh?” Yuu says, “What’s a high end man like you here?”
“The names Ashengrotto,” the man smugly says, “Azul Ashengrotto. I’m sure you know of me.”
Yuu squinted at the man, bobbing their head side to side, until realization set it.
“Oh! Of course!” Yuu replies with a shout, “Thanks for the rum, ay? And everything else, of course, but mostly the rum.”
Azul laughs, “Of course. Anything to keep everyone in high spirits.”
Yuu smiled, “Thanks sir. Can’t imagine doing this job without the rum.”
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguin' is done
We'll take our leave and go
It was late in the evening, and Yuu was to return to the ship the next day. Yuu could already feel the onset of the headache from all the alcohol that they had, their friend Ruggie helping them walk.
“Don’t you think you had too much to drink?” Ruggie asks, as he holds Yuu upright.
“Nonsense,” Yuu says, their words beginning to slur together, “I didn’t drink much, just a few bottles, eh.”
“Riiiiiiiight.”
“Honest!” Yuu scoffs, “ ‘Sides, Ashengrotto was there. Offered more drinks on the house. How could I say no, ay?”
Ruggie shook his head, “Ashengrotto is always there. He personally brings in our items.”
Yuu raised a brow, “He do?”
“Yes, Yuu,” Ruggie sighed, rolling his eyes, “But I guess I can’t blame you then. Not everyday the man offers free drinks.”
“E-yup!”
“Gracious… What am I to do with you?..”
“Say,” Yuu ponders out loud, “Any plans when the tonguin’ is done?”
“Why do you ask?”
“I got plans.~”
“Yuu!”
“What?!”
Before the boat had hit the water
The whale's tail came up and caught her
All hands to the side harpooned and fought her
When she dived down below (huh)
Yuu was nursing a headache, barely able to keep down the contents of their stomach when another whale approached.
The captain took charge and commanded everyone. Like last time, everyone was scurrying and, like last time, it was Yuu who was to hunt the whale.
And so Yuu did so with finesse, careful aim and all despite their intoxicated state.
One could even say that being drunk may have even helped.
She had not been two weeks from shore
When down on her a right whale bore
The captain called all hands and swore
He'd take that whale in tow (huh)
“Another?!”
Yuu huffed as they prepared everything, the captain getting riled up. It was perhaps the fourth whale that week, and the week had barely begun. Though, while there was going to be more work than usual, Yuu knew that the pay would be good.
“I’ll get ‘er boys, prepare the harpoons!”
And so Yuu gladly obliged.
It was a spectacle, as the captain rarely participated in the actual harpooning. Often  it was the better harpooners who did the job, and on occasion newcomers so that they may get the hang of it.
The captain jaunted over to the harpoon with a grin on his face, a fang of his poking out. And quietly, he took his aim. Silence hung in the air, the only noise being the sound of water slapping against the sides of the ship, the seagulls cawing in the air.
And finally, the captain shot the harpoon.
Cheers erupted as the water began to change color, and everyone knew at that moment that their pay was going to be good.
Perhaps, this would be the last tonguin’.
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum (hey)
One day, when the tonguin' is done
We'll take our leave and go
“Ah, was it you?”
Yuu didn’t have to look up to see who it was.
“Yes and no,” Yuu replied, taking a swig of their beer, “I killed some. Captain killed one. Ruggie two.”
“Is that so?”
“E-yup,” Yuu glanced up at Azul, the corner of their mouth tugging upwards, “Take a seat, will ya? I’m sure you’re tired of all that standing, aren’t ya?”
Azul didn’t say a word, though he did take a seat. As usual, he was dressed as nicely as before.
“Say,” Yuu began, no longer looking at Azul, “Do you think that the tonguin’ will ever be done?”
At this, Azul was taken back, “Well, I think it’ll continue some more, then it will die off, so yes. Why do you ask?”
Yuu looked down at their drink, a sudden sorrow filling their chest, “Ah, just wonderin’ is all. When it’ll be done.”
Take our leave and go
Silence hung in the air, before Yuu said one last thing, “Either I’ll be done before the tonguin’, or the tonguin’ will be done before me.”
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguin' is done
We'll take our leave and go
“So you’re Yuu’s friend?” Azul asked Ruggie, as they both sat besides Yuu’s passed out body. It was nearing the witching hour, and thankfully, there was nothing important tomorrow for either of them.
“Yea, I guess you can say that,” Ruggie replied, sighing. This wasn’t the first time Yuu had fallen asleep at the pub, and he was certain it wasn’t the last.
At the very least, he hoped so.
“Do you think that the “tonguin’ will ever be done?”” Azul asked, as he slowly dragged out a cigar, and began to light it.
Ruggie scrunched his nose, “Don’t think so.”
“Why is that?”
Ruggie glared at Azul, who only smiled as if he was innocent. Ruggie continued, nonetheless, “Because, while we may get paid in rum and clothing, with actual coins for pay, the coins are barely enough to get us out of the business. Though I guess that’s why you pay us in rum, isn’t it?”
Azul only smiles at Ruggie’s response, and puffs out some smoke. “Indeed,” he says, chuckling, “Rum is cheap, but everyone indulges it.”
Ruggie didn’t say anything as he lifted up Yuu, though.
With that, Azul was left alone at the pub, as he puffed more smoke.
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum (hey)
One day, when the tonguin' is done
We'll take our leave and go
It had been another month, and there was something amiss in the pub.
“Where’s Yuu?” Azul asks Ruggie, who didn’t face Azul. He kept mum. Surprisingly, the pub wasn’t as lively, though, there was a solemn mood that overhang each person. Azul couldn’t exactly place his finger as to what it was, but it was certainly a  key component.
“Yuu’s gone,” Ruggie said, “Bad storm while out there. There was a whale.”
Azul could feel the blood drain from his face.
“They were determined to hunt it down.”
Take our leave and go
“Yuu! What are you doing!?” Ruggie shouts, his voice barely piercing through the sounds of angry waves and thunderous clouds.
“I’m getting the bastard!” Yuu shouts, as they readied the harpoon.
“Are you out of your mind?!”
Ruggie yelps as the ship rocked hard to one side, Yuu yelling out in glee.
In front of the ship, a large wave was seen, and the figure of the whale was seen.
The rain wasn’t letting up, the ship shaking side to side, water sloshing around, and the strike of thunder was the last time Ruggie saw.
Take our leave and go
“But…”
“I see.”
“Yea,” Ruggie says, taking another sip of his rum.
Azul didn’t dare light up his cigar this time, instead making his rounds throughout the pub, checking up on everyone. As he did so, Azul quietly muttered under his breath,
“I suppose you took your leave before the tonguin’ was done, Yuu.”

To Hunt A Creature
twst x Yuu
Summary: Yuu, as all know, came from another world. Not a word about their past however.
Until something from their world arrives, and Yuu deals with it alone.
Ao3 link: here
warnings and tags: some violence, mention of blood, not beta read
word count: 1,910
--
If it was something that Yuu desperately wanted to leave behind, it was their past. So far, they never once had to explain it, keeping it locked away.
But today was different.
Yuu felt something was amiss in the morning, feeling something that they thought they wouldn’t have felt in this world. It was odd, but it brought a sense of panic to Yuu.
“Grim,” Yuu called out to the sleeping feline, “Hey, Grim.”
Grim mumbled something in his sleep, then finally opened up his eyes, “Eh, what is it?”
Yuu gave a small smile, “I’ll be a bit late to class today, so on without me.”
“Eh? But it’s pretty early? Why are ya gonna be late?”
“I want to shower,” Yuu lied, “I forgot to take one last night and it’s bothering me.”
“Sheesh,” Grim huffed, “You and your long showers. Well…” He paused, “I guess it’s fine, as long as I get some tuna!”
“Of course!”
Yuu never attended class.
It was the afternoon, and it has been a few slow hours tracking down the creature in the forest, the creature that was the cause of it all. It was only because of Yuu’s previous experiences did Yuu ever notice, really.
If the creature isn’t taken down, then it would only grow stronger and stronger, until it no longer can be contained, destroying its surroundings in the process.
Yuu wanted to get rid of it while the creature was young, or at least, before anyone noticed that anything was amiss.
It was calming, to say the least.
Perhaps it was because this life was all that Yuu had known, or perhaps it was because their body sorely needed something like this. Yuu often didn’t get a chance to show their skills, lest anyone would question their entire identity.
Yuu walked slowly, careful to keep quiet. A glance told them that the creature was nearby, fresh prints in the mud. It didn’t take much for Yuu to realize that the creature was likely a little too nearby, faintly able to pick up the breathing of the creature.
It was calm, sounding just like any other animal to anyone else, though to Yuu, they could pick up the slight raggedness of it, too atypical to be that of a normal animal.
Yuu turned ever so slightly, their eyes meeting the figure of the beast that they had been tracking. It startled them for a brief moment, but they quickly calmed. The creature, without a doubt, was from their world.
The creature turned its head, now spotting Yuu. It bellowed out a roar, and then lunged towards them. But Yuu’s muscle memory kicked into action, allowing them to dodge the creature’s attack.
Your movements flowed smoothly, as if you weren’t inactive as a hunter for months on end. Yet, despite this, you could already feel the ache of your muscles, but that feeling was also familiar; thus your body continued despite its protests.
You pulled out a dagger, feeling the cold metal in your hand. With a thrust, you plunged your dagger into the creature’s flesh, blood splattering out and landing on your person.
Thus, a dance began.
The creature would lunge forward, and you would dodge. It would swipe at you, but you were quick enough to go to the side, out of it’s reach, landing another attack on it. This continued, your lungs burning, the creature persistent with its assaults. Few times did the creature managed to wound you, but you didn’t care- you were just. So. Close.
You don’t know how long it lasted, nor did you keep track of the number of times you landed a hit on the creature, and vice versa. But by the time the creature’s body landed on the ground with a loud thud.
But Yuu didn’t rest, no, they instead pulled something from their pouch. It was a vial of holy water, something of which Yuu had to make themselves. They also took out a pair of ear plugs, putting them in, then pouring the holy water onto the creature.
The creature let out an ear-shattering howl, and despite the earplugs, Yuu’s ear still hurt. Yuu took a step back as they saw the holy water melt the creature’s flesh, the creature crawling with much effort, but to no avail. Slowly, it made its way towards Yuu, and by the time it managed to crawl right in front of Yuu, who merely stared at it, the beast let out one last pitiful screech, before its head slumped against Yuu’s shoes, its body no longer moving.
It took only a few minutes for the body to dissolve into nothing but dust, of which was when Yuu knelt, taking out the earplugs and putting them away, clasping their hands together, closing their eyes, whispering out a prayer.
Blades of light appeared, striking down the dust. Somehow, it managed to get all of the dust, completely removing any evidence that the creature ever lived, with a small exception.
A small purple stone remained, glowing brightly, as if asking to be taken.
And Yuu complied, wordlessly picking up the stone, albeit carefully, then standing up. The stone shook in their grasp, puffs of black smoke swirling around Yuu’s arm, but never harming them. Eventually, it shook more and more, as if angry, but after a few minutes of absolutely nothing happening, the stone became still- signifying that it had given up.
Smiling, Yuu pulled out a pouch littered with faded runes and sigils, placing the stone within.
“Heh, guess I still have it in me, huh?” Yuu laughed, putting away the stone.
It was then when Yuu’s actions finally caught up with them.
Yuu’s legs gave out, causing Yuu to fall harshly against the forest floor. Yuu let out a yelp, followed by a string of curses.
It was only lunch, judging by the position of the sun, as far as Yuu could tell, which meant that there was a chance that someone would find them- but Yuu knew that it was unlikely. Grim probably assumed that they were skipping school- which admittedly was technically true.
Yuu quietly cursed again, trying to move their arms. Yuu managed to move them, but not without feeling the pain from all the gashes and wounds they’ve endured from the fight.
A thought came to Yuu.
Weakly, Yuu took out a knife, pulling out the blade. They pressed the tip onto the dirt, and began making an intricate design. They had spent only a few minutes on it, and once they were done, Yuu shifted their arm, the wound parallel to the ground. Yuu then used their free hand and pressed against the wound, forcing the once closing wound to open up, the stream of blood regaining life.
Drops of blood spilt onto the ground, as Yuu began muttering phrases.
It became dark, until it became too dark that Yuu couldn’t see a thing. Yuu became silent, moving their arms so that they laid at their sides. At this point, Yuu could feel the consequences of losing all the blood, and for a moment, Yuu regretted not eating prior to the fight.
Through the midst of the heavy air and silence, a voice rang out.
“So, you’ve called, at last, my dear?”
The darkness dissipated, the forest and its surrounding returning within Yuu’s line of sight- with a new addition.
The owner of the voice stood quite the distance away from Yuu, looking down at them.
“Just come and help me,” Yuu seethed, glaring at the figure, “I wouldn’t have called you if it wasn’t desperate.”
“I know,” the demoness replied, “I’m just surprised, is all. It’s been awhile, hasn’t it?”
“Yep. Now, help me.”
“Heh, fine. Just for old time’s sake.”
The demoness, who was dressed in a red suit, the jacket hanging on their shoulders, walked slowly over to Yuu. Once the demoness was just a foot away, they just gave Yuu a glance, stroking their chin.
Then, with a snap of the demoness’ fingers, all of Yuu’s wounds healed. It wasn’t a painless process, however, as Yuu slumped over into the ground, the demoness letting out a small yelp as they jumped back out of Yuu’s way.
It took a moment for Yuu’s wounds to completely heal, and even then, they were still weak.
“Perhaps, it’s been too long,” the demoness muttered, as they went over to Yuu and picked them up, “Now, my darling, show me the way to your new home.”
“It’s over there…”
“Thank you.~”
The demoness then began walking. It would have been more convenient to fly over the forest, and be ‘home’ in an instant, but this was a different land. Unknown. Unseen.
And the demoness didn’t want to take chances in a world in which they were ignorant of its customs and culture- who knows how it would react to someone like her.
So it took a while. By the time the demoness had arrived at the place that Yuu had called ‘home’, there were three figures, from what she could sense. Yuu, at this point, was fast asleep.
Quietly, as they could, they walked over, careful to not be seen. Gently, they propped the sleeping Yuu against the wall. The demoness glanced around- the figures hadn’t noticed yet.
Good.
The demoness then walked away, and once she had deemed that there was enough distance between her and everyone else, she threw a rock.
And another.
And another.
Until one of the figures had the brains to investigate.
“The heck? Where are these rocks coming from?”
The demoness hide within the bushes.
Within the demoness’ line of vision, they saw two boys, one with red hair while the other with blue, and a fat dark cat with flames.
“Eh, is that Yuu?” The fat cat grumbles.
“Oh Great Seven,” the blue haired kid exclaimed, “It is!”
The demoness watched as the blue haired boy ran over to Yuu, picking them up with great ease. Naturally, this woke up Yuu, who began to immediately struggle in the boy’s grasp until the boy said something.
Whatever the boy had said, it was enough to calm Yuu down.
“Oh… It’s you, Deuce,” Yuu sighed.
“Geez,” the red haired kid scoffs, “Where were you? All the teachers gave that look of disapproval, y’know.”
“Yea!” The cat replies, “You left me all alone! You said you were just gonna be late! What’s the deal? Why are you wearing different clothes? Why do you smell like blood, huh?”
“Blood? Oh, that’s-”
“Eh?!” Deuce gave Yuu a look-over, “You were bleeding!? We need to get your insides!”
“Deuce, I’m fine-”
“How are you not dead?”
“Ace-”
At this point, the demoness was getting annoyed. A look from Yuu indicated that they felt their annoyance, which didn’t go unchecked by their friends.
“What are ya lookin’ at?” The cat turned to the demoness’ direction. “Is there somethin’ there, eh?”
“No, Grim-”
The demoness let out a sigh, and then revealed themselves. The two boys, Ace and Deuce, and the fat cat named Grim, stared at the demoness.
For a good moment, all was quiet, until someone broke the silence.
“So. This is Aristomache…. But she goes by Mache for short ...” Yuu said, letting out a nervous laugh.
At this, Mache smiled at the teenagers, lifting up her hand, open for a handshake. “Hello, friends of my darling, it’s a pleasure.”
Silence….
“...Yuu, what the heck…”
“Oh, shut up.”

Yuu was frazzled, confused, and most of all, scared.
They had only been here in this new world of Twisted Wonderland, for what, an hour? And already, they’ve gotten into too much trouble for their own good.
As of now, they were huddled in the abandoned attic of the Ramshackle dorm. The monster that had harassed them earlier was asleep, snoring away as Yuu was going through this horrid ritual. They were not alone either, oh no, for a fox familiar was there with them. Well, at least, they were told it was a fox familiar, and sure enough, the fox was a fox… earlier. Not now.
Instead of a fox, a person with fox ears and tails, horns as well, replaced the familiar. Yet, they were one and the same.
“Don’t worry Yuu, you’ll remember, soon enough,” the fox, called Mikhail, told them with a pleasant voice. It didn’t ease Yuu’s worries however. Too many things in such a small window of time surely couldn’t be good for a person.
As for what Mikhail was doing… Yuu couldn’t guess, but from what they could see, a life-size doll with no features laid on the wooden floor, underneath it a circle with sigils and the like. There were candles as well, just bright enough to make out what was in the attic itself. They were placed out of the way where the rainwater, so that they wouldn’t go out, although a few of the candles did go out anyways.
Overall: A Very Not Good Experience.
“Hey, Yuu,” Mikhail called over softly, his glowing amber eyes making him appear eerie. Didn’t help that his pupils had slits either.
“Yes?” Yuu squeaked, clutching onto the ceremonial clothing they still adorned. Right after Crowley had left, Mikhail had shifted to his human form and pulled Yuu to the attic. The flaming cat, Grim, gave zero fucks and went to bed.
“May I have some of you blood? I just need you to prick your finger, just a little. Over the doll, please?”
Yuu didn’t reply, but they did scoot over, now closer to the fox shifter. Mikhail handed Yuu a rather large needle. Gulping, Yuu took it, and they hovered over the life size doll. How Mikhail managed to get a clay doll into the attic was beyond them, but they didn’t question it.
Yuu pricked their finger, a small drop of blood splattering onto the face of the doll. A few more drops, then there was a small, tiny pool of blood.
“That’s enough. Now, hold my hand, please?”
Yuu complied, letting Mikhail hold onto their non-pricked hand. Mikhail urged them to close their eyes, so they did. Now that their vision was gone, their sense of hearing was heightened, as Yuu made out some words spilling out from Mikhail, feeling a rather warm sensation overtake them.
Then pain.
Yuu fell into Mikhail’s grasp, as he continued on with his cantation, feeling pain with every inch of their body. They faintly heard themselves howling in pain, as something was making its way out from their stomach and through their throat, and lastly their mouth. It wasn’t vomit, Yuu could tell, but it wasn’t pleasant either. Whatever that had escaped from Yuu had fully emerged out, leaving Yuu to heave loudly against Mikhail.
Just what was that?
Their body was sore, but thankfully no longer in pain. Yuu didn’t even know if they could move a muscle. They remained in Mikhail’s embrace, the cantation still going on. It became louder, as Mikhail was now audibly heard. Yuu could feel the floor tremble beneath them, wondering if it would continue to hold.
At the last few moments, Yuu felt a rather excruciating headache, clutching onto their head as Mikhail’s arms strengthened their hold around them.
Memories came flooding in- all seven overblots, the things that the dorm leaders went through in their childhood, how events had unfolded, and the like. Yet, happy memories came along as well, recalling how Ace and Deuce aided them and hung out with them, such as the small sleepovers they occasionally had and goofing off in class.
Yet…
These events had not happened.
So why-
“Ehhhhh,” a feminine voice groaned loudly besides Yuu. It was all too familiar, but Yuu couldn’t-
No. They remembered. It was Rosamund… And Mikhail was their partner.
Rosamund and Mikhail were their fox familiars.
“You can open your eyes now, Yuu,” Mikhail gently told them. Yuu did as told, the room too dark, the candles having gone out. Yuu glanced over to where the life-size doll was, but instead, they were met with a lookalike. Same black hair and red eyes, yet the figure before them was more feminine than them… and naked.
“So, how’s my original body, Yuu?” The doll, Rosamund, asked.
Right.
They weren’t in their own body.
“It’s fine, but-”
“You died, kid,” Rosamund interrupted, quick to answer the question that Yuu was about to ask.
“I… What now?”
“She’s right,” Mikhail replied, letting go of Yuu. Yuu looked at the two of them, but their memories weren’t returning past a certain point.
“All I remember is Malleus’ overblot,” Yuu said, “we were just finishing it, and from there, it was all black.”
“Yea,” Rosamund stood up, stretching, Yuu looking away, “You died. Well, you fell asleep first, but then you died in your sleep. So,” Rosamund sat back down, giving a toothy grin, “We’re starting all over again. Fun, isn’t it?”
“What happened to my body…?”
“Ah,” Rosamund quieted. They looked away, not wanting to deliver the news.
Mikhail sighed, “It… decayed. We had to quickly save your soul, so we implemented it into Rosamund’s body.”
“Slowly,” Rosamund quietly began, “My original body will adapt to become yours. Slowly, you’ll look like you originally did. Although…” Rosamund summoned fire at her fingertips, relighting one of the nearby candles, “You’ll have magic this time. The mirror didn’t detect it, but you have magic. Granted, it’s locked away.”
“...locked away?”
“Yes,” Mikhail stood up, offering Yuu a hand, “It’s technically Rosamund’s magic, but it will eventually become your own. As for Rosamund, for now, they’ll just adapt to their new body.”
“Wouldn’t it have been easier for me to be in the doll?” Yuu inquired, taking Mikhail’s hand. They were right- it was hard to move, much less walk.
“Your soul can only persist for so long once it leaves your body. Our souls, however, will linger for years on end. Well, yours could, although, only with strong negative emotions or attachments.”
“...oh.”
Mikhail offered a small smile, as he helped Yuu walk to the exit, leaving the mess of the ritual behind. Looking back, he yelled over to Rosamund to clean up the mess.
“Aight, just get Yuu to bed. They’ll need all the energy that they can get,” was Rosamund’s reply.
Mikhail aided Yuu in getting down from the attic, now on the second floor of the building. He was kind enough to show Yuu to the dorm head’s room, coincidentally where Grim was asleep.
With the help of magic, Mikhail managed to tidy up the room, drastically changing the items to be repaired and be of use. This included the pitiful bed, Grim only grunting upon the movement.
“There isn’t any other suitable bed around, so please, push Grim a little and make room for yourself.”
Yuu nodded, and complied to the fox shifter’s commands.
Just as they were going to say good night, Yuu no longer saw Mikhail, instead, saw two foxes in front of them, one red, the other black.
Yuu smiled, and said;
“Good night, Mikhail, Rosamund. Let’s be sure to not die…. this… time…zzz.”
The events of the day caught up with Yuu, the foxes watching as Yuu fell asleep. The foxes moved around, and got themselves comfortable.
For a long adventure laid ahead of them.

Liquid Smooth
Vil Schoenheit x Yuu
Summary: Vil only has limited time with Yuu. Soon, Yuu leaves, and Vil is left with a few realizations.

I'm beautiful, I know cause it's the season
But what am I to do with all this beauty?
Biology, I am an organism, I'm chemical
That's all, that is all
Vil posed for the moment, a flash of white overtaking his vision, yet he never blinked. The sound of a picture echoes, everyone still as stone as Vil continued, another pose after another.
After all, it was only natural to capture beauty whenever, no?
“That’s great! Keep it up!”
It went on like that for hours, until he was done with the job. Vil briefly looked at the clock, and for a moment, he wondered, “how much time do I have left?”
The answer, he knew, was, “Not much.”
I'm liquid smooth, come touch me, too
And feel my skin is plump and full of life
I'm in my prime
I'm liquid smooth, come touch me, too
I'm at my highest peak, I'm ripe
About to fall, capture me
Vil walked through the halls of the campus, wanting to reach his next class. He didn’t fail to notice all the glimpses and stares, a few phones pointed in his direction. Yet, he remained completely candid.
It was fate that he bumped into Yuu, the other-worlder waving their hands over to Vil. It had been only a few weeks after they had practiced and did the VDC, the wound still healing on Yuu’s face.
For a brief moment, Vil pitied Yuu. It wasn’t known except to him and the other dorm leaders that Yuu was actually just a young woman, and he knew that it was important for a woman to have a beautiful face, free from scars and anything that is considered to be taint.
“Hello, Vil!”
“Greetings, Yuu.”
“Off to your next class?”
“Yes. I assume the same for you?”
“Oh, I’m off to do an errand for my teacher. I suppose they trust me out of everyone to do the task.”
Vil almost offered to walk with Yuu, but halted. Yuu must have noticed, as they smiled, her warmth had not gone unfelt.
“Well, I wish you the best of luck in your next class, Vil! See you later!”
With that, the Ramshackle Prefect left, leaving Vil to contemplate his thoughts.
It was then that Vil decided that his feelings ran deeper for her than he liked, or care to admit.
Or at least take my picture
Kuzurete yuku maeni
I'm pulsing, my blood is red and unafraid of living
Beginning to end
A kiss. Another. And another, until Vil was covered in red, the marks almost photogenic.
It wasn’t often that Vil partook in such carnal-like activities, yet, like most boys, he had needs. And unlike most boys who yearned for the touch of a woman, Vil received.
Yuu straddled Vil, hovering over his neck, planting more and more kisses, only pausing to reapply the lipstick.
No words had been exchanged, instead, there was a mutual agreement, to never let their desires overtake lest they deal with the consequences.
Though, Vil would be lying if he said he hadn’t thought about a domestic life with Yuu.
But for now, he’ll just enjoy the limited amount of time he has with Yuu.
I'm liquid smooth, come touch me, too
And feel my skin is plump and full of life
I'm in my prime
I'm liquid smooth, come touch me, too
I'm at my highest peak, I'm ripe
About to fall
It was the last day, and everyone knew. Picture upon picture was taken, before it was time. Vil had enough pictures of Yuu to remember her clearly, but still, his heart ached at the fact that they would be leaving.
It was an entire affair, a party to say farewell.
Yuu exchanged many words, but when it came to Vil, Yuu only smiled, and handed him a small book. It was an album of sorts, to remember the times. A physical reminder that Yuu existed.
“Thank you,” Vil uttered out, keeping his composure neutral. It needed to be neutral.
“You’re welcome, Vil,” Yuu replied, but it was quiet; faint. Vil wouldn’t have heard if not for the fact that she was near and close, along with the stray tear that fell.
Vil wished he would have given a proper gift instead of a necklace with a pendant with the both of them. Yuu clearly liked it when he had given it to her, but in comparison to the album he received, it was basically nothing.
At the last moments, right before Yuu went through the mirror, Yuu shot him a tearful look. Her mouth moved, and Vil managed to make out her words.
I love you.
How I feel this river rushing through my veins
With nowhere else to go, it circles 'round
As a successful model and actor, Vil rarely had the opportunity to sneak a peek of the album. He only ever glanced through it a few times over the past few years since Yuu had left.
So he took the chance to open it, going through its pages slowly, until he reached the near the end, a note inside a slot instead of a picture.
His eyes widen at its contents, his eyes starting to tear up, his throat constricting. He wished he had asked Yuu to stay- but what then? Would the nature of her life have changed? Then, it was when he realized that yes, the nature of her life would have been different.
Yuu was a young woman, they already had an established life from their original world. It was selfish to think that Vil could have provided for them somehow, even with his life busy as a model and actor. But, at least then, he would’ve been there for them.
I'm liquid smooth, come touch me, too
And feel my skin is plump and full of life
I'm in my prime
I'm liquid smooth, come touch me, too
I'm at my highest peak, I'm ripe
About to fall, capture me
Vil went through another photo shoot, the photographer giving a thumbs up when it was done. Soon, he left the position, opting to sit down at one of the numerous seats that was laid all throughout the premise.
An intern came up to him, the young woman’s eyes averting to meet Vil’s.
“Do you need anything, potato?” Vil asked plainly, his eyes glaring at the intern. He wished to be alone.
“Ah, apologies,” the woman looked down, “I just had a question, sir.”
“What is it?”
“Sir, are you married?”
The question caught Vil off-guard, though it wasn’t surprising- the media often asked him about his relationship status, and his hesitancy to enter one with anyone.
“No, what gives you that impression?” He replied, already wishing that the intern would leave.
“Oh, it’s just that I’ve been a longtime fan-”
“So you’re shooting your shot?”
“No!” They stammered, looking up at Vil, “You’re the same age my father would be sir, so no. It’s just-”
“Just what?” His voice grew agitated by now, growing in volume. No doubt, everyone else in the room had noticed.
“It’s just that whenever someone asks if you have someone special in your heart, you look sad,” the intern managed to get out, her curls reminding Vil of someone, “I know that look anywhere. I just wanted to ask, since my mother has the same look.”
Vil calmed down, exhaling loudly, “You’re not wrong. I once had someone in my heart, still do.”
“I see. That’s all I wanted to know sir,” they gave a small curtsy, “Thank you for sharing. I can only imagine how difficult it is to think of them, so I’m sorry for bringing up painful memories.”
Vil shook his head, “It’s fine. If that’s all, I wish to be alone.”
“Of course, sir.”
The intern left, though not before Vil caught a glimpse of her necklace, the pendant oddly familiar. As the intern walked away, a thought struck Vil, although he dismissed it as quickly as it came.
After all, Yuu returned to their original world.
And even if they returned to Twisted Wonderland…
By now, surely, it would have been too late…
Right?

Timeless Necklace
Summary: Leona is surprised when 'his' child pops out of nowhere. Through his child, he finds out that he'll be working with a classmate in the future.

Leona didn’t quite know what to do.
At this time, he would be usually lazing around in the botanical garden, but instead, he is rather annoyed at the botanical garden, his eyes staring down at a young child.
A child claiming to be belonging to him.
The worst part?
He could smell it on them. His scent was all over the child, yet he never saw or met them beforehand.  The child, Arieh, he had come to learn, looked strikingly like him as well, almost like an exact replica, if not for his long hair being much curlier.
“Pops,” the boy called, “I swear I ain’t lyin’.”
“Tsk.” Leona didn’t know what to do. At all.
“Where’s Nanna anyways?” Arieh asked, taking a seat right next, “You told me ya met her in school ‘n whatever.”
“A woman?” Leona raised a brow, “This is an all-boys school.”
“Nanna was the exception.”
“Eh?” Leona perked up, now curious. If a woman had been at Night Raven, he would have at least noticed it at some point.
“Yea,” Arieh sat up straight, his tail slightly wagging behind him, “Nanna is good at hiding herself. Right now she’s teaching me to do the same! Wanna see?”
Before Leona could reply, Arieh stood up, and clasped his hands together. In what seemed like a prayer, the child soon disappeared from sight, the only evidence of his existence was his laughter.
“Well what do ya know,” Leona muttered under his breath. Whoever this ‘Nanna’ was, they certainly taught Arieh well. Though… could he even believe the words of a child. Plus, how did a child even get into the college? Now that he thought about it fully, no child should have gotten in.
Leona let out a sigh, and looked around. Still, he only heard giggling. It was unnerving, to say the least. It was like the child was out of mind with how he was out of sight...
All of a sudden, he felt a pressure on his back, causing him to fall forward as a pair of hands emerged, wrapping around his neck. Laughter surrounded him, and as he balanced himself, he realized what had happened. Arieh had pounced on him.
“Kid,” he growled, though he made no movement to get Arieh off his back.
“You taught me that, pops.” He cheerfully said, “Nanna had to sit still! She was hard as a rock when I pounced on her.”
“I see,” Leona mumbled, before raising his voice, “Listen kid. You’re not from around here, so I'll take you to the headmaster to figure out what’s going on, alright?”
“Hm? Okay! But he’ll say what I said!”
--
“This child is from the future! My, how can this happen twice?!”
Leona stared blankly at the useless headmaster before him. So, children appearing out of nowhere was not uncommon, huh?
“What do you mean, twice?” Leona asked, barely containing the annoyance in his voice. He could feel Arieh lightly grab his hand, and somehow, it eased him, knowing that he had to compose himself.
“Well,” Crowley nervously laughed, “Another child had appeared a few days ago, claiming to be the child of two of the students here. They hadn’t been lying, since they were from the future. Arieh, this child,” Crowley glanced down at him, “Is the same.”
“That explains why pops doesn’t know me,” Arieh piped up.
Crowley nodded, “You’re a bit older than the last child.”
Arieh only stared at him, Leona picking up a similar annoyance coming from the- no, his- child.
“Okay?” Arieh replied, titling his head. “What does that have to do with anything?”
“Oh, just, uh,” Crowley’s eyes widened in response, “I suppose I can tell you a bit more than the last child.”
“Oh,” Arieh replied, “Well. Then tell me.”
Leona had to bite back a laugh, seeing Crowley’s composure breaking with each word that left Arieh’s mouth.
“Well, child, I can certainly say that I can arrange for you to return to your home by dinner at the latest.”
“Is that all?”
“I do have a question.”
“Shoot, prof,” Arieh’s annoyance was growing more and more, his grip on Leona’s hand become stronger. Leona remained silent, though he gave a tight squeeze. It worked wonders, as Leona could visibly see Arieh relax his shoulders, as well as unclenching his jaw.
“Do you know who your mother is?” Crowley stared intently at Arieh, as if he was trying to uncover a deep secret.
Arieh remained silent for a moment before replying in a low voice, “My nanna...  She's all I have. We don’t speak about my mother.”
“Apologies,” Crowley replied. “That is all, so if you have nothing to ask of me, you may leave.”
--
“So, who’s this “Nanna” you speak of?”
“Oh!” Arieh perked up, a smile on his face. It was almost unsettling to see a miniature version of Leona smiling so genuinely.
Leona currently held the child in his arms, earning stares as he did so. Leona could hear the confused whispers, and the wild speculations, but all went mum when Leona gave the gossipers a look.
“Nanna is a good friend of yours,” Arieh began to explain, “and she was on good terms with mother before she....passed…”
Leona kept on walking, towards his dorm, “What’s your nanna’s name?”
“Lamia. I don’t remember her last name... It started with ‘Cer’ though.”
“Anything else?”
Now they were in the Hall of Mirrors.
“Just that they really liked mango.”
Mango?
“Nanna said you saw ‘er getting some mango from the gardens once. They used their unique magic each time, but this time they didn’t cause you weren’t there.”
“Is that so?’
“Yep!”
Leona mumbled something, as he kept on walking. He had a feeling in his stomach that something was just about to transpire, and now, he was no expert of time travel, but he had a feeling that Arieh was supposed to be here.
Leona pushed the doors to the botanical garden, already catching an unknown scent within the perimeter. Arieh noticed as well, the boy jumping out of Leona’s arms and running towards the source.
“Nanna!”
“Eh?” A voice resounded. It was all too familiar, though Leona couldn’t quite place his hand on it.
Leona walked some more, Arieh once more in view, pestering one of the students from his dorm. Immediately, he recognized who it was.
L. Cervantes.
Leona never bothered to learn anything beyond their last name- considering the fact that Cervantes only wanted to be referred to by their last name. Their first name always remained a mystery, at least, until now.
Lamia Cervantes, huh?
Now, Leona was no stranger for being mistaken for being the opposite gender whenever a person only heard his first name, though such instances were rare and few, as many people knew that Leona was of royal lineage. There were few people holding the Kingscholar name, usually only those so branched out from the family or those who wanted to falsely claim royal lineage.
Though, in such cases, the royal family would often employ the help of a rather good business, a family business, at obtaining information.
The Cervantes family.
Leona smiled, seeing the flustered Cervantes trying to deal with Arieh. They were not flustered in the sense they didn’t know what to do, but more at the situation itself, as Cervantes got along with the child, but the entire time, they had a look of “What in the world is going on?”, of which greatly amused Leona. He noted the small basket filled with mangoes.
“Pops, come over!” Arieh called, grinning with glee.
“Eh, pops? Kid-”
Leona walked a bit more, now within Cervantes’ eyesight. Their eyes widened, their hands shooting up to take off their glasses and clean, only to put it back on and meet with the same sight.
“Ah, Kingscholar, I didn’t know-”
“Arieh is from the future,” Leona cut in, “The principal had cleared that up.”
“From the future- oh. Ohhhh… I see… I see..” Cervantes took the information in stride, as if everything had fallen into place for them just now, “Hey kid,” they turned to Arieh, “You got the thing?”
Arieh nodded, pulling out the necklace from underneath his shirt, “Yep! I did everything like you told me to!” Arieh then took off the necklace, handing it to Cervantes, whose face morphed to one of confusion. “The Crow Man said he would help me  get back home, and he said that this wasn’t the first time!”
Cervantes only dumbly nodded, concern overwriting the confusion that they once had.
“You said to give it back to you anyways!” Arieh pushed back the necklace into Cervantes’ hands, who stared at the necklace, of which began to shine slowly, then brighter and brighter.
“Close your eyes!”
The last minute warning managed to make it to Arieh’s and Leona’s ears in time, as the light became brighter until it engulfed the place with white. A second later, it disappeared, and the necklace was gone.
“What happened?” Leona asked, displeased. His vision was still partially affected, the light being bright enough to see through the eyelids.
“There can’t be two of one item at a given place,” Cervantes replied, as they unbuttoned the first few buttons, pulling out a similar necklace.
“Oh, I get it now!” Arieh replied, eyes curious as he pulled on Cervantes’ necklace, pulling the person closer in.
“Ey, watch it kid,” Cervantes warned.
Arieh’s nose twitched for a moment, the boy tilting his head then taking a few steps back, removing his hold on the necklace.
“Nanna, why are you a man?”
Leona laughed loudly at his child’s comment, a hand flying to cover his mouth as to not be seen overly impolite- if Arieh was correct about Cervantes’ being a woman, then Leona may be getting an earful.
“Why I oughta- and you!” Cervantes turned to look at Leona, “This is not funny!”
“Well,” Leona looked down at them, “Answer the kid’s question.”
“Must I explain everything?” Cervantes scowled. “I take potions to change parts of my body to appear much more masculine, similar to how the mer are able to hold human forms. Though, like them, parts of the original body still shine through.”
Cervantes buttoned up their shirt, glaring at Arieh, who was still waiting for more of an explanation.
“I still don’t get it.”  Arieh titled his head once more, giving off an aura of innocence, as if he didn’t quite mean to offend Cervantes in any shape or form.
“Cut that out,” Cervantes replied, “Do you not have eyes? This is an all boys school. I have to dress like a man to blend in, kid.”
“Oh yea, you did say something like that once…”
“And,” Cervantes glanced at Leona for a moment, “Kid, how do you know me?”
“You’re my nanna, silly! You protect me from all the bad people, and you help take care of me when Pops is doing important things!”
“I see… that makes much more sense, actually.”
“I knew you would understand!” Arieh smiled, “Though, when are you gonna be a woman again?”
“...”
“Or don’t tell me. That’s cool, nanna.”
--
The rest of the day was mostly following Arieh’s whims and desires, as the child ran about throughout the college. Leona began to have an idea as to why Cervantes was Arieh’s chosen bodyguard- Cervantes was the oldest out of three by many years, therefore they got along with children well enough. The fact that they were a cheetah beastwoman helped them keep up with the energy filled child, and the fact that Cervantes came from the Cervantes family no doubt expanded their skillset in other areas.
Though, what exactly their skillset was, Leona didn’t bother knowing. If Cervantes was to be his child’s future ‘nanny’, as they had put it, he was bound to know sooner or later.
Currently, it was only about ten minutes before dinner would usually take place, and Arieh was asleep on Leona’s lap, Leona running his fingers through his son’s hair as gently as he could.
“This kid basically ensured that I would get a job, huh?” Cervantes whispered loud enough for Leona to hear.
“Seems so.”
“I guess this means we’ll be talking more often, huh?”
“Evidently.”
Cervantes looked up at Leona, muttering the word ‘buzzkill’, which, unfortunately, was still heard by the prince.
Leona scowled at them, though didn’t say anything in return.
“We should be getting up soon,” Cervantes stood up, stretching, “You two really are related. How long do you lions sleep for?”
“As if you cheetahs don’t run for hours on end,” Leona replied.
Cervantes only smiled, then made a gesture for Leona to move the child. Leona only gave them a quizzical look, before Cervantes sighed, then moving the child themselves. Somehow, the child didn’t wake through all the shifting.
“Oh.”
“Come on, before that idiot of a headmaster gets mad at us for being late,” Cervantes stated, “By the time we get there, we should be on time.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Leona replied, standing up and catching up with Cervantes, “Let’s get this over with.”
True to Cervantes’ words, they made it to the Hall of Mirrors just in time, where Crowley was just about finished making all the preparations.
“Oh good, you’re all  here!” He loudly greeted, waking up Arieh.
“Sorry, kid..” Cervantes patted Arieh on the back, the child getting used to his surroundings.
“Pops…?”
“I’m here,” Leona softly replied, eyes on his kid.
“There is no time like the present, now come! Come!”
Cervantes glared at Crowley the closer they got to the headmaster, who seemed surprised for a good moment, though he shook it off.
“Place the child down, dear student,” Crowley said, Cervantes obeying his words without a second thought. Gently, Cervantes placed Arieh down, the boy looking up at his caretaker.
“Is it time to go already…?”
“Afraid so, kid.”
“Oh.”
Leona walked over, and kneeled. He didn’t know what to say- after all, this was a child from the future, so eventually, he would see Arieh again. But the idea of Arieh leaving now left him conflicted.
Leona sighed, and opened his arms out wide, Arieh picking up the hint,  throwing himself into his father’s arms, squeezing him tightly.
It lasted for a minute or so, before the two pulled away. Arieh looked at Leona for a brief moment, and then asked him,
“Hey Pops, can you do me a favor?”
Leona raised a brow but nodded.
“When you meet mother, can you take pictures of her?”
Another nodded.
“Thanks pops,” Arieh then turned to Cervantes, “Can you do the same, Nanna?”
“Sure, kiddo.”
“Thanks!” Arieh then turned around again, and waved to Crowley, “Nice meeting you, Mister Bird-Man.” With that, without instruction, he leapt through the mirror.
“...”
“...”
“...”
“I swear if this kid-”
“Kingscholar, the kid will be fine. I’m taking care of them, remember? “
“...Excuse me?”
Cervantes shot a look to the headmaster, and said, “I’m the nanny, sir. That’s all.”
Crowley didn’t seem to believe their words, but he brushed it off. “Hurry on along now, the job is done.”
“Later!”
Cervantes turned and ran out at great speeds, and within a blink of an eye, they left Leona all alone with the headmaster.
“I don’t quite know what you have going on with the third-year, but you best be on your best behavior, Kingscholar.”
“...Right.”
Leona made a mental note to talk more with Cervantes.

Without Water
Summary: Yuu walks through a desert, when they find a source of water; then another. Eventually, they end up meeting a duo.
[Post Apocalypse- kind of scenario.]
Ao3 link: here
warnings: small mention of death
word count: 2,462
--
It was difficult.
Life was hard- and barren. Nothing that the eye could see for miles on end, except for the rare flora and the occasional anima; and Yuu was one of the few that survived the onslaught of weather and environmental changes. Finding sources of food was hard, but there was enough for Yuu to make-do.
They haven’t seen another person in years.
It was lonely, at first, but Yuu had grown to get used to it. They didn’t know where they were- no, they couldn’t remember. The city had become submerged in water, forcing many to flee into the nearby desert. At this point, it was likely too far away.
Yuu didn’t know where the next nearest city was. Nor how long since it had started. The days were blurred and Yuu’s sense of time became nonexistent.
The overbearing heat made it difficult to travel, but thankfully, Yuu had plenty of water, after stopping by an oasis that, oh so conveniently, was placed. In fact, it was a bit too convenient.
Just as Yuu would be half-way done with their flask of water, another oasis would spring up. This was not to say that they were incredibly close by- in fact, Yuu was careful to preserve their water supply, but with each instance of bodies of water so close, it made Yuu wonder if it was okay to drink a bit more water.
Yet, every time the thought ran through their mind- they disregarded it. No matter how convenient these sources were, they weren’t eternal, nor would they be convenient forevermore.
Plus, another need plagued Yuu’s mind- hunger. Water could only stave off hunger for so long, and if Yuu didn’t find an animal to feed on soon, they would soon run out of the rations that they had prepared earlier from their last kill.
Yet, Yuu carried on, their eyes looking, hoping, for food to appear.
Nothing.
Yuu shook their head- of course, it would make no sense for an animal to appear right in front of them just when they desperately needed it. Life didn’t function like that, although Yuu sure wish it did.
Yuu took another sip from their flask- it was halfway empty, and if the number of oases had indicated anything, it was that another should arrive soon. And certainly, like they had predicted, they could see one in the distance.
...With two figures around it.
Yuu slowed down their walking, but the two figures never left. In fact, once one of them noticed Yuu, they beckoned for them to come closer, waving their arms around.
“Hello!”
Yuu quietly cursed, resuming a normal pace. The figures, now close enough to see two tan teenage boys, one with white hair and the other with long brown hair, waited for Yuu to arrive. The long-hair individual seemed annoyed, whereas the white-hair boy seemed rather excited.
Yuu noticed a few bags nearby, taking the hint that perhaps that the two were resting. Yuu wondered, had they been any slower, would they still have met?
“A new person!” The white hair boy ran over, taking in Yuu’s appearance, “I haven’t seen anyone for days!”
The long-haired teenager sighed, and said, “It’s only been a few months since this whole mess started.”
...A few months?!
“Is that so, Jamil?” The white-haired boy said, now pondering if there was truth to his words, though, despite the pondering, Yuu could tell it wasn’t serious. Yuu glanced at ‘Jamil’, who scowled.
“Yes,” Jamil replied, his voice straining to hide the hostility towards Yuu, but they still nonetheless picked it up. Though, the white-hair individual didn’t, his face still smiling like before.
“I’m Kalim al-Asim!” The white-haired teenager said, then gestured to Jamil, “And this is my best friend, Jamil Viper!”
“I’m not your best friend.”
Kalim momentarily pouted, but carried on, “So, what’s your name?”
Yuu hesitated for a moment, but they relented.
“The name’s Yuu Kishimoto.”
-
Yuu stayed with the two fellows, as they shared their food with Yuu. From what Yuu learned, Jamil was the rather resourceful fellow, having been able to create the dish- roasted meat with a bit of spice, all from scratch.
Kalim was rather overjoyed with Yuu’s appearance, as he had yet to see another ever since the disaster began, although he was a bit saddened that he wasn’t going to see all of Yuu- since their attire was made so that nearly every inch of their body was covered. So far, they could only see Yuu’s mouth as they ate the food.
Soon enough, night befall, so Yuu set up camp. It was a flimsy tent, but it did keep the sand and rain out, so Yuu didn’t complain. Not that they had much room to, since it was the only thing they could find, after all, the panic caused many shortages of many necessary supplies. Yuu was lucky that they had already owned a few things that had aided their survival thus far.
Kalim and Jamil had their own camp, as the two spelt together. Yuu briefly questioned why, as Yuu noticed that Jamil often had to have great restraint. The boy was quite good at hiding his intentions and emotions, acting as neutrally as he could, but even then, Yuu would find the smallest of hints that indicated Jamil’s distaste, usually towards Kalim.
Though, that was not to say that Kalim was not without fault. If Yuu could describe him in a single sentence, they would say “He’s the blazing sun that shines too much; a pile of sugar, too rich to handle within a few bites.”
Kalim radiated too much positive and optimistic energy than Yuu could ever handle, already draining them of the little energy they had in the few hours of meeting them. If not for Jamil’s good cooking, Yuu didn’t know if they could have survived a few hours alone with Kalim.
Though, for the moment, Yuu was glad to have found some company.
-
Morning came, and Yuu half-expected for Jamil and Kalim to have left them all alone in the lonesome of the desert, yet to a pleasing surprise, Yuu saw Jamil making breakfast when they left their tent.
“Morning,” Yuu politely greeted, refilling the flask with the water.
“Morning,” Jamil replied, yet never taking his eyes off the meal he was making.
“So,” Yuu awkwardly began, “Whatcha making?”
“Just some eggs.”
“They’re not… fertilized, right?”
Jamil shook his head, “Didn’t see a hen nearby. Looks like a bird just laid them and went on with their business. Fresh too, thankfully.”
“That’s good to hear,” Yuu sighed with relief, a hand over where their heart was. “Do you need any help?”
Jamil pondered for a moment, until it seemed like he came to a conclusion, “Are you knowledgeable with your spices?”
“Hm? Well, I suppose..?”
“Then get me…”
Jamil instructed Yuu to get the spices as he continued cooking. It wasn’t an extravagant meal, but with Yuu’s help, Jamil ended up getting more ingredients to add to the breakfast.
Fortunately, an animal had wandered by. It was small and quick, yet Yuu was quicker, surprising Jamil with how fast they captured the small creature. Nonetheless, the contribution aided, and now, they had enough food for everyone by the end of it.
The aroma of the food was strong, no doubt, if there was anyone even remotely close, they would have certainly noticed. Yet, it was only the three of them.
Kalim left the tent, stretching his arms, yawning as he did so. He walked over with a bounce in his step, and gave the food a once over.
“Ah, it looks so good! Thanks Jamil!” Kalim greeted, already taking a seat and a plate.
“Yuu had helped a bit,” Jamil stated, as he, too, grabbed a plate.
Yuu followed suit, placing the meal onto their plate, removing the mask that they adorned to eat the meal. Though, it was the type of mask where the bottom was detachable, so, Kalim and Jamil could only see Yuu’s lips and the color of their skin- yet even with the glimpse of skin, it wasn’t guaranteed that the same pigment would be seen all throughout the skin.
Although, if one thing did stand out, it was the lip piercings. They were a neon blue, contrasting their skin.
“I didn’t know you had lip piercings, Yuu!” Kalim exclaimed the moment he saw them, nearly straining Yuu’s ears.
“Ah,” Yuu replied, as if remembering that they had them, “Yea. Had them for a few years now. Thought they looked cool so I got ‘em.”
“Did it hurt when you first got them?”
Yuu paused, trying to recall the faint memory, yet to no avail, “I think it may have? Just a bit. I’m not scared of needles, so I suppose this was fine.”
“I see,” Kalim’s curiosity seemed to be sated, at least for now. He didn’t prod any further, instead opting to eat his meal. Even while doing so, he radiated an immense amount of positivity.
Breakfast then was silent, not a single word said afterwards.
Perhaps Yuu would come to like traveling with them… if they allowed Yuu to do so, that is.
-
They did.
Granted, it didn’t take much, as Kalim was the one who insisted. It looked like Jamil couldn’t refuse anything that came out of the white-haired boy’s mouth- that if, if you could call him that. It burned in Yuu’s mind about their age. Yuu was on their way to college, just barely graduating from their respective school, yet, Kalim and Jamil gave off the vibes as being younger, yet there was a certain edge to them.
It was odd, though Yuu supposed it was due to their age, being in a weird limbo of being a child and an adult, yet nonetheless, they were still a teenager. Either way, the edge they felt, it was rather odd. Kalim reminded them of the more youthful years, those that were peaceful and filled with happiness, yet, Jamil on the other hand, Yuu could sense a resentment, akin to teenage rebellion and anger, but much more intense.
Yuu didn’t want to bear the brunt of Jamil’s emotions, no matter how good he was concealing them, so for now, Yuu would act in the middle, never swaying towards one nor the other.
Plus, Yuu was certain of one thing- these two individuals were much stronger than them.
Yuu could feel a headache coming on. They let out a quiet sigh, thankfully no one picked up on. Kalim filled the silence with whatever he could think of, yet Yuu was only half-listening.
For now, Yuu decided it would be best to focus on walking and staying near them.
--
It has been hours, and if it was something that had certainly surprised Yuu, it was Kalim’s unique magic. It did explain all the sources of water that they had encountered, yet Yuu would have never imagined that such an ability belonged to Kalim. Yuu briefly wondered what Jamil’s unique magic was, if he had one, though Yuu was certain that the teenager had one.
After all, those with magic usually develop their unique magic by this age, don't they?
Soon enough, the three of you reach your destination. It had surprised you that there was anything out in the desert at all.
“We’re here!” Kalim shouts, lifting his arms in the air in celebration. Yuu stared at Kalim, then glanced at Jamil for an explanation.
“This used to be our dorm,” The hooded man explained, “We had momentarily left to search for-”
“Survivors!” Kalim cut in, grabbing your wrist, “There have been only a few others who had traveled this desert, though most of them had died. You’re the first we found alive!”
Yuu momentarily blanked out from the statement- just what exactly did he mean that Yuu was the only one they found alive?
“Eh?” Was all that escaped Yuu’s mouth.
Yuu could hear Jamil sigh, as the three of them neared the fence, “As he said, you’re the only one alive so far. Every other person we’ve found out there is dead. It’s probably because of Kalim’s unique magic that you’re alive,” Jamil then glanced over at Yuu, “alongside your hunting skills.”
Yuu had to take a moment to process Jamil’s words, and once they did, they soon found themselves on the other side of the fence, Kalim quick to drag Yuu further into the area, looking back to see Jamil hide a set of keys.
As Yuu was dragged, they saw more people busting in and about- more people than they had seen in the past few months. They could glance a few gardens the further Kalim dragged him as he babbled off about something, what it was, Yuu didn’t know.
“-and that’s everything!” Kalim stopped, Yuu nearly bumping into the teenager. Yuu blankly stared at Kalim for a good moment, before saying something.
“Pardon me, but uh… I didn’t quite catch that?” Yuu saw the boy’s expression morph to a pout, before Yuu began again, their words picking up speed, “I’m just a bit overwhelm and hearing that I’m the only one alive that you found really makes me feel really-”
“Oh, it’s fine!” Kalim quickly smiled, as if he then finally comprehended what Yuu was going through, “You’re probably tired after all that! We’ll host a party to celebrate your arrival!”
“Oh, there’s no need-”
“Nonsense! You’re the first,” Kalim replied, “So we must celebrate!”
Yuu didn’t quite like the idea, but it seemed like there was no way to dissuade him.
--
It came quickly, and as quickly as it came, the celebration ended. Yuu ended up helping out Jamil with all the preparation, despite Kalim’s insistence that they shouldn’t lift a finger- to which Yuu had yelled that they should, since they were the cause of it.
Jamil started to tolerate Yuu a bit more, it seemed, as throughout the preparation and the cleanup, there was a comfortable silence, only speaking when needed.
Jamil was the one who showed them to an empty room, of which Yuu was thankful of, as well as allowing them access to their bathroom, since it was past curfew once they had finished cleaning up.
Yuu never once revealed their appearance, and they speedily left Jamil’s bathroom before he could even glance at them. The only thing that he had heard was a quick “thank you”.
Thus, Yuu sat on the bed, the room empty save for them. A mirror stood in the middle, as Yuu recall the past two days. Funny, just as they were to be without water, they were saved.
Yuu could only hope that they were able to find a new sense of normal.

Request Info and all that
I'll write anything to the best of my ability.
Anything that requires knowledge that I don't have, such as, let's say, asexual Yuu or reader, then I'll take some time to research a bit to make sure that Yuu/Reader would be depicted as requested.
Extra details would be nice, such as plot, or what is happening, but not exactly necessary.
Please note, however, I take a while to write requests, between a few hours up to a month. This is mostly due to how motivated I am and because I have things going on in life that will interfere. Although, I will get them out in a month max.
If a request is sent, and you want an update, please either send an ask or a message, and I would happily let you know.
If by chance the request will make me uncomfortable, I will let you know.

The Broken Sketchbook Reveals Yuu's (Not-so Biggest) Secret
Twst x Yuu
[Where Yuu is (accidentally) a crossdresser and likes to draw wlw things. ]
Summary: Grim is curious as to what were the contents of Yuu's sketchbook, employing Ace's and Deuce's help. The contents reveal a secret that Yuu wasn't even trying to hide.
[or, Yuu is in a glass closet.]

Grim pawed at the sketchbook at him. It was a rather ordinary sketchbook, plain black with a plastic covering. Yet, for being so ordinary, the sketchbook had a single lock on it. It was clear that it was makeshift, straps sturdily glued on, the lock being small and requiring a numeral passkey to unlock it.
Grim had thought about using his flames to melt the glue, but decided against it- he knew how much Yuu was particular about their sketchbooks.
Grim looked around the Ramshackle dorm- it was after school hours, and Yuu was working a shift at the lounge. As usual, he had seen Yuu carry a sketchbook, one with a similar makeshift straps and a lock, although it had a sticker of a bunny on it. The sketchbook he held in his paws had no distinction, save for letters that spelt out words in a foreign language. What the words meant, he didn’t know.
But it was a curious item, one that practically begged to be open and exposed for all the world to see.
“Oh!”
Coming up with an idea, Grim grabbed the item with his mouth, running off outside.
0
“Eh? I don’t know how to take this off.”
“You didn’t even try!”
Grim pouted, the flames in his ears shifting a bit too unpredictable for Deuce’s tastes.
“It’s just a sketchbook, and it’s obvious that Yuu doesn’t want us looking through their things.” Deuce replied, flipping the book around. He took a look at the words written in bright silver, raising a brow.
“Is this… a foreign language?”
Grim shrugged, “Heck if I know… oh wait,” he paused, “I think I’ve heard Yuu say things that I didn’t understand.”
“Like what?”
“Never paid attention.”
Deuce only sighed, and gave back the sketchbook to Grim. “Well, either way, you should really return this,” he glanced to the side, “I’ll go back to playing basketball. Later, Grim.”
Deuce ran off, the sound of squeaking sneakers being the last thing Grim heard.
“Oh, Yuu’s sketchbook?”
“Yep!”
Ace picked up the book, giving it a curious glance over. “Huh.”
“Can ya open it?”
“Maybe. I might need a knife though.”
“Where would I get a knife?”
“The kitchen? Track is almost over, and Yuu doesn’t come back until late night right? We can just use one of your knives.”
“But it’ll be obvious!”
Ace sighed, “Do you want to know what Yuu draws or not?”
“Well, yes, but-”
“Then I’ll meet you back at Ramshackle!”
Grim had a bad feeling about this. The last time he tried to open up one of Yuu’s sketchbooks, he was met with a rather angry Yuu, who, calmly (yet frighteningly) spoke to him.
Grim quietly hoped that all would go well.
“Here ya go.”
Grim gave Ace the knife- it was a butter knife, but it would do the job just fine. Ace thanked the creature, and began to break the glue. He went in and up and down motion, the knife grinding against the mold of glue. It took a while, but he was making progress.
After a minute of doing so, the glue relented and gave away. No loner was the strap glued down, the sketchbook now open to be viewed.
“I still don’t think this is a good idea,” Deuce quietly said. It was an invasion of privacy, but he too, was curious as to the contents of the sketchbook. Why did Yuu put a lock on it?
The first page had Yuu’s number and the location the book should be brought to- something of which was inscribed on the back of the book. Odd. Ace flipped the page- blank. Another page. Blank.
“What the heck…?”
He flipped to the next two pages, and finally, there was something.
It was a naked woman.
“Eh?!” Deuce stared at the drawing, his cheeks reddening.
There was nothing inherently sexual about the drawing, just a woman tying up her hair, sitting, a hairband in their mouth. The woman was glancing downwards, her arms up and hands hiding in hair. It was a rather simple drawing, although it was obvious that there was more work done on the hair and arms than the woman’s face or their body.
Why Yuu had drawn this, they didn’t know.
Ace flipped to the next page, and this time it was of two women kissing each other lovingly. Unlike the last drawing, these women adorned what looked like traditional dress (from where, no one knew), one of the women holding a bouquet of violets.
“Well, this is most certainly something.” Ace didn’t know what to make of the drawings. Deuce’s face was still red, and likely will remain red for the next few minutes.
Ace flipped to the next page, took a good look for one second, then closed the sketchbook. It was… rather explicit to say the least.
“I see why Yuu had it locked it…”
“Told you guys it was a bad idea…”
Ace slightly opened up the book, going to a random page, fully opening it once he knew it was appropriate.
It was a rather detailed drawing, more so than the last. It looked like a self portrait, although heavily stylized in a cartoony way, as instead of what one would consider what would be a normal skin tone- it was a pastel blue. The lashes were large, the wings too big to be humane. Their outfit was something they had never seen before, in an unknown aesthetic from old times, in a neon blue, but darker. In fact, the entire drawing was in blue, with multiple shades of blue in every way possible- metallic, textured and partnered, dull and tainted.
“Well, this is certainly different from the others.” Ace couldn’t quite believe that this was drawn by the same person, although he did identify some trademark traits- Yuu often drew the noses with a triangle if it was stylized, more realistic if… well, realistic.
“What in the world is y’all doing?”
Everyone turned around to see Yuu standing right behind them. They could see one of their eyes gleaming, the three sensing danger from Yuu.
“It’s not what it looks like!” Deuce squeaked out- this was the first time he ever felt fear towards the Ramshackle prefect.
“Is that so?” Yuu drawled out, eyeing the sketchbook in Ace’s hand, “pray tell, then why is my usually locked sketchbook open?”
“The lock broke!” Ace lied, his voice high.
“Really?” Yuu glanced at the knife, then back to Ace, “Then why do you have a butter knife?”
“We broke it! I wanted to see what was inside!” Grim yelled, giving his best attempt at a bow. Yuu’s facial expression softened, but as soon as it did, it returned to its original expression.
“Is that so?” Their voice was quiet, picking up their sketchbook. They let out a small sigh, yet their demeanor didn’t change- Ace and Deuce could still taste the tension in the air.
“Sorry...” Deuce apologized, although it came out weak.
“If you were curious, you could’ve asked,” Yuu looked at the damage, “I had more appropriate drawings elsewhere. I keep them locked for an obvious reason, you idiots.”
They took their sketchbook, and the broken lock, away. Their items were neatly laid on the table, including their other sketchbook that they had taken to work.
“Maybe we can ask Yuu about that one then?” Grim suggested.
“Sure.”
Deuce nearly jumped at the voice, not having expected Yuu to be so quick in returning. Ace noticed this, and laughed.
“Pfft, you should see your face, dude.”
“Oh, shut up! As if you weren’t scared earlier!”
“I wasn’t the only one!”
“Enough,” Yuu walked over, their voice effectively stopping the two from yelling at one another. The teenagers huffed, but they remained silent.
Yuu picked up their work sketchbook, inputting the numbers to unlock it. Now open, it revealed a number of doodles, some detailed, some rather simple. Notes were written, reminders for the future, and numbers to remember.
“So….” Ace spoke up, “What’s the deal with the naked ladies?
“...”
“Yuu?”
“I’m… a lesbian…”
“Wait what-”
“You’re a girl?!” Deuce looked at Yuu with wide eyes.
“Yes? I thought it was obvious?” Yuu returned the same look at Deuce.
“It wasn’t obvious! You never said anything!”
“I never thought I had too???”
“Y’know, this explains why Deuce never acted nervous before,” Ace quietly commented to Grim, watching the scene unfold.
Grim nodded, “I thought it was pretty obvious that Yuu was a girl.”
“I need.. To process this information…” Deuce got up, and walked out of Ramshackle Dorm, leaving a very puzzled Yuu and a calm Ace and Grim. Yuu let out another heavy sigh.
The tension was thick and heavy. In an attempt to lift the air, Ace spoke up.
“So. Girls?”
Ace looked at Yuu’s facial expression. Their puzzled expression melted to a softer one, one with a smile, replying,  “Girls.”
Ace raises his hand, making a sort of fist. Yuu raised a brow, but raised a fist of her own. Ace smiled, Grim watching as Ace fist-bumped Yuu.
“Girls.”
...
...
Meanwhile, outside, Deuce was walking in a circle, wrapping his head around the thought that Yuu was a girl.
“Why am I so stupid?!” He cursed at himself.
“Eh, you didn’t know?”
Deuce turned his head, his eyes locking with those of Jack’s confused eyes. It took him a moment to process Jack’s words.
“You too?!”

To You, I give these Flowers of my Love
Yuu x Vil
Summary: Through (mostly) Vil's pov as he goes through the training and VDC, as he slowly realizes his love for Yuu, a little too late.
Ao3 link: here
warnings:
part: 2/2
-> (first)
word count: 6,004
-
Vil was unsure of how to feel at the moment. He had checked up on the potatoes in training after Yuu had fainted in the bathroom. Normally, he would have disregarded the entire ordeal, yet, he couldn’t shake off the scene that had laid before him as Yuu had fallen into his arms.
Blood was oozing from their mouth, along with pink and yellow flower petals. The sink was filled to the brim with them, the stench of blood almost enough to overwhelm his senses. No matter how he looked at it, it was an urgent emergency, one that needed immediate medical attention, lest death befall on the prefect.
Everyone was shaken from the event.
He could only hope that everyone would be able to steer their mind away from what had happened. He knew he wouldn’t be able to, but it was of utmost importance that he should.
He walked over to the window, the once abandoned dorm giving him a sense of odd comfort. It was no five star hotel, nor was it his dorm room, yet it was just enough. He could see a bit of Yuu’s personality shine through each room. At the windowsill, there was a small plant. It was a succulent, a plant that hardly needed watering until the soil was completely dry.
Right across from the window was a painting of sorts, one that hadn’t been there before. He knew it didn’t belong, the painting depicting flowers, the glowing paint painted in such a way that they looked similar to the will-o-wisps. That, and there was a signature at the bottom right of the painting, stylistic written to say YUU.
It was charming, to say the least.
He let out a sigh. It was rather late into the evening, yet the anxiety that had swelled up in his stomach prevented him from getting any sleep. A small part of him wondered how Yuu was doing, and if they were fine.
Although, time could only tell.
0
Training was a good way to numb the mind from the unnecessary. Not having Yuu around made things only ever so slightly harder, as Vil often found himself about to say their name when they were going to request them to do a task- turn on the radio, get us some towels, grab us some water, and all that a manager was to do.
And every time he almost did, he’s reminded of the painful situation that Yuu was somehow in. He didn’t quite show it, but he indeed cared for them as much as the rest of the ‘potatoes’. Despite Yuu’s small role as manager, they did have an impact on the others, fitting for the one called Beast Tamer. The difference in performance was slight, but it was there, no doubt caused by Yuu’s absence.
Yet, Vil couldn’t bring himself to berate Ace, or Deuce, or Kalim about it (Jamil performed just as usual, he noted). Not when he, too, depended on Yuu in some sort of way.
It had been a few days since he last saw Yuu, and the VDC was coming closer still. The only update he was told came from Crowley himself- that Yuu was undergoing a surgery to ‘cure’ them of their condition. He had briefly inquired about Yuu’s illness, yet Crowley was unable to give a proper answer.
“I’ll have yet to receive permission to talk of the qualities that Dorm Prefect Yuu bears in terms of what is ailing them… However, all that I may say is that it had come from the world in which they were brought forth in.  Worry not, it is not contagious, as it relates to their wellbeing and how they were created.”
As if that had eased his worries. In between sessions and checking who was number one on Mira, Vil had begun to think of what kind of disease or illness that Yuu could possibly have. He couldn’t get rid of that night. He could still painfully hear Yuu’s loud fit of coughs, or their groans of despair. The fact that he hadn’t noticed until it was too late had hurt him even more.
He couldn’t properly take care of the manager, how could he properly care for the rest of the ‘potatoes’? What if-
No. Vil wouldn’t allow himself to think of such a way. Not now. No matter how much he wanted to think of Yuu.. because…
He, and his team, will defeat Neige Leblanc.
He’ll see to it that they do.
0
The day that Yuu had returned, Vil was more than relieved. To know that Yuu had returned safe and sound was more than he could ask for. The anxiety that once took hold in his stomach had disappeared nearly completely with Yuu’s arrival. The ounce that remained quietly nagged him, that there was something that was off, something wrong.
Yuu wasn’t the same Yuu as before.
He didn’t bring it however, and he made sure to let the others go see Yuu before him, Ace and Deuce the first ones to see Yuu, right after Grim. He wasn’t sure if Kalim and Jamil had taken a chance to go check on Yuu, but he had a sneaking suspicion that the two had gone to sleep before even knowing Yuu was here. He didn’t blame them, since training was still as strenuous as ever.  They needed all the strength that they could get.
Vil stood in front of what was obviously Yuu’s door. It was hard to miss, the door painted with an array of flowers, glowing will-o-wisps, as well as small, glowing fairies. No other door had such a great amount of detail.  Although he did question the choice of flowers, the very same ones that had brought Yuu into a coughing fit so violent, that they coughed up blood. Charming, at first glance, haunting once you knew the fact.
“Shall we go in, Roi du Poison?”
Rook stood next to him, giving Vil his a small, genuine smile. Vil, in return, offered one of his own. It was reassuring to have Rook there with him, the hunter always there whenever Vil needed any help of some sort.
“Yes, of course,” Vil replied. He quietly exhaled, placing his hand on the cold bronze doorknob, twisting it. The door opened slowly, but the two were hit with a strong floral scent.
The duo entered Yuu’s room, taking in the sight that had laid before them.
The normally energetic Yuu was sitting in their bed, their hands stroking Grim’s fur, as they scrolled through their phone. Yuu looked up at them, their weary eyes clearly telling them of how exhausted they were.  Vil knew he couldn’t stay long, despite what the urge to stay and comfort them told him.
“How are you faring, Trickster?” Rook looked over Yuu with a great deal of concern, taking a glance to the two flower pots that sat next to the bed. Vil had to follow Rook’s line of vision to see them, the flowers almost obscured by the bed had Vil not turned his head ever so slightly.
The flowers were the same as those in the sink, but without the blood.
It was faint, but both Rook and Vil could smell the cleaning agents that were used to remove the blood. Rook was not there when Yuu had fallen, but he was there to witness the aftermath. There was a clear connection between Yuu and the sudden appearance of flowers, yet neither of them knew what it was other than it was there.
“I’m doing much better, Rook,” Yuu spoke, their voice hoarse and scratchy. “Just recovering is all.”
“If I may, what kind of surgery did they have to perform?” Vil stared at their eyes. Just moments before there was a brightness, but it had faded the moment he entered the room. Vil could tell that something else was amiss, yet he couldn’t place his finger as to what it was.
“Ah, they’ve removed the flowers out of my lungs.” Yuu looked down, petting the snoozing Grim. Before either Rook or Vil could ask another question, Yuu continued, “I decided to keep the flowers, as a reminder of my…” Yuu paused for a moment, the silence hanging heavy in the air, “Ah, no matter. In any case, the reason why flowers grew in my lungs was because we’re born with them. They usually don’t cause any problems, although removing them before they bloom is somewhat frowned upon, so we keep them.”
“Why in the name of the Seven would anyone keep the seeds in?” Vil didn’t understand the sentiment, although he knew that the world that Yuu had came from was different from the one they were currently in. It never occurred to him just how different it was.
Yuu averted their eyes, shifting in their bed, “Ah, I would like to answer your question, but…”
“I see,” Vil replied, noticing Yuu’s discomfort, “ We’ll let you get some proper rest, then. Sleep well, Yuu.” Vil could see there was something that was troubling Yuu, noticing that their eyes were beginning to water. “Let’s go, Rook.”
“Good night, Trickster.” Rook gave a slight bow, and the two then left the room, closing the door quietly behind them. Just as expected, the two could hear the stifled cries that were muffled through the door. The two looked at one another, concern lacing their expressions.
“We should go, Vil. I don’t believe it would be best for us to remain much longer.”
Vil let out a small sigh, yet he understood, “You’re right, Rook. We should prepare for bed ourselves.”
Rook tipped his hat, giving one last farewell before he left, leaving Vil alone in the hall. Vil lingered for a moment more, hearing another quiet wail rip through the room, softened by the door. He felt pity for them, truly, he did. He didn’t know what Yuu was going through, but it was obvious enough that there was emotional pain behind it all that made it worse. He wondered if there was anything he could do, but all he could was to leave Yuu alone, as they had requested.
Vil then walked over to his room, feeling a deep pain in his chest, unsure of what to make of the feeling.
0
The day of the VDC had come, and Vil felt a small amount of anxiety pulse through his veins. Today would be the day that he’ll finally be number one, and all his hard work would pay off. Everything was perfect and ready to go, although Vil had found that his mind had at times wandered in curiosity of Yuu’s wellbeing. He supposed it was natural, as Yuu had been a slight help in their duty as manager. After everyone saw Yuu, Vil could see that everyone was back to their high spirits.
He was in the middle of preparing for the rehearsal, overseeing the progress that everyone was making, giving last minute advice to those who had needed it, and everything he possibly could to have a better chance of beating Neige Leblanc. It was going well, as Neige Leblanc had yet to arrive (although, it would be awhile or anyone non-related to NRC to arrive).
Vil continued on with his task, until it was noon, when Yuu was to come over and see them. Everyone had their reservations, him especially, knowing that Yuu had recently gone through a surgery. No doubt they were still dealing with the aftermath of it all. Yet, Yuu pushed- stating that they wanted to see them perform, as a way to keep their mind from the events that had led up to the surgery. With that said by the dorm prefect, no one, not even Vil, could deny Yuu’s request.
So here they were, being told off by a staff member that only staff can enter the area.
“The potato and monster are our staff. I have handed them the staff pass.” On cue, Yuu holds up their staff pass, albeit weakly. Vil didn’t comment on it, knowing that Yuu was still recovering.
The unnamed staff member quickly apologizes, allowing Yuu and Grim to enter.
“Thank you, Vil,” Yuu gives a small bow of appreciation.
Vil turns to face Yuu, who was smiling happily, their eyes seeming to sparkle and their smile rather adorable. Vil could feel the happiness radiate off of them, influencing him to smile as well. At least, he thought, they were doing much better than the previous night.
“How brave of you to show up as the last one, Manager.”
Yuu’s smile became a tad more devilish, their former self unearthing a little bit more. “Well, I did get caught up with Prefect Riddle on my way here, Prefect Schoenheit.”
“Are you enjoying the festival?” Vil shifted his body, focusing more on Yuu. Their presence gave them a sense of calm. It was only now did Vil realize how much he missed Yuu, despite meeting them just a few weeks ago.
“Yep! Seeing what the other club’s had to offer was pretty neat.”
Before Vil could ask a question, Rook showed up, smiling as usual. Grim, who was unnoticed until now,  made a comment about the amount of people outside the venue, as the rest of the team gathered around Yuu. The conversation continued, about the VDC and how their performance would go. Vil was pleased to know that they still had confidence, after all, it would be key for the performance.
Yet, before it could go any further, the chatter was interrupted by a dreadfully sweet voice.
“Vi-kun?”
It was Neige. Oh how wonderful.
“I knew it! It was you!” Neige came closer, Vil distraught by his appearance. He could hear the ‘potatoes’ talk behind him, making mostly comments about Neige. He could feel his blood boil, annoyed by Neige’s appearance. He only served as a reminder that Vil was not the fairest of them all.
Forced into a conversation, Vil complied and reluctantly replied to Neige’s statements. It ended rather quickly when he had to go upon the stage for the rehearsal. He couldn’t steal a glance from Yuu, but he walked upon the stage nonetheless. He’ll steal their breath away, he was sure of it.
They performed, the rehearsal  going very well, the group managing to capture the attention of all. The staff sang their praises, one even asking for an interview, and another asking for a recording. Once consenting to the video, everyone could see the amount of likes and views skyrocket the moment it was uploaded.
As everyone was scrutinizing their performance, Vil walked off to the side, alone. Pulling out his phone, he said, “Oh, Mira, Mira, tell me.”
His phone vibrated, the automated feminine voice ringing out, “Yes, what would you like to search?”
“Now at  this moment, who is the most beautiful in the world?”
“ “Beautiful” Number of No. 1 mention,  Account… The search result on the WEB regarding this is…”
The robotic voice paused for a moment, Vil patiently waiting for it’s response.
“It’s Vil Schoenheit,” the robotic voice rang. Vil widened his eyes, surprised by the results, no doubt aided by the sneak peek of the rehearsal. Yet, he was not displeased, rather, he let out a small chuckle, very much pleased by the results. Finally, at last, he was number one. He was, 100%, the fairest of them all.
Words couldn’t describe the immense joy that Vil had felt right then and there.
“Alright, next! The representatives of Royal Sword Academy, please standby!”
Neige and his friends went up the stage, and began to perform. Vil’s happiness was short lived, seeing how everyone fawned over the sloppy performance. The performance captured all of the hearts of the staff, a swelling hatred taking hold in Vil’s gut. The staff began to ask many questions as soon as the students from the sword academy were done. It was obvious that they were enamored by their rather uncoordinated performance, yet it had its own charm that had captured their hearts.
Vil knew this all too well.
Vil stared at Neige as the scene unfolded before him, as Neige answered the questions. ]
“Vil… Vil?”
Vil snapped out of it, turning to Rook, “Huh…?”
“What’s the matter? You’re pale, are you unwell?”
Vil shook his head, “I’m quite alright, there is nothing to worry about.” He let out a sigh, “This wasn’t worth a watch, I’ll be heading back to my dressing room.”
Vil left the scene, Rook and the rest of the team looking at his disappearing figure with great concern. As that happened, Grim watched the Ramshackle prefect’s body still, their eyes becoming glassy.
“Yuu?” Grim pawed at the prefect, garnering the attention of their friends.
Yuu’s eyes returned to normal, as they clutched their head, “Ah…. this…”
“Yuu-san, are you alright?” Epel gave a worried glance, fiddling with their hands.
“Are you hungry?”   Grim climbed onto Yuu, their claws digging into the fabric rather harshly. Yuu weakly brought their arms up in order for Grim to settle into their arms, giving the troublesome cat a smile.
It took some time to dispel their friend’s concerns, as a loud voice boomed to let everyone know it was lunch time. Quickly, Yuu followed to where Vil had vanished, entering the stone halls quietly as they could. Yuu still held onto Grim tightly, as they complained about the fact they were not getting lunch.
Passing through, they noticed a broken phone, as they finally reached where Vil was. Hiding, Yuu could hear a conversation happening, between Neige and Vil. Yuu could practically hear venom sweetly dripping from Vil’s voice, as he offered Neige a beverage.
A poisoned apple cider, by the looks of it.
Yuu stared, their body freezing up from the realization. Fortunately, there was someone to intervene, Rook coming through and taking the beverage away from Neige, much to the astonishment of Vil.
Rook urged Neige to run off, and he did, as Vil simply stood there, bewildered, Yuu still hiding away. Just as Rook was about to take a sip of the poisoned drink, another person intervened, slapping the drink from Rook’s grasp.
“YOU CAN’T!”
Kalin stood over the shattered glass, Rook and Vil now noticing the presence of Yuu and Grim, Kalim huffing from his previous actions.
Yet, their actions didn’t calm the rage that was flowing through Vil’s veins, as Yuu simply remained quiet as the conversation continued without their input. The poisoned juice began to move, the air becoming thick with darkness,
Yuu could see Vil unfold, hearing Rook’s warnings of Vil’s unique magic as Yuu heard the tragic words that had spilled from their soulmate’s mouth.
“Please… Don’t look…! Don’t look at me with such eyes! Why?! I just wanted to be the most beautiful in the world, and yet… I’m unsightly! Ugly! Unfitting!”
Vil could feel despair overtake his emotions, his mental state deteriorating as he felt the harsh changes that befall upon his body. He was never beautiful, why did he ever think of that? Why did he put all that effort to be number one, even though he knew he’ll always be overshadowed?
Everyone stood in horror upon the realization that Vil was going through an overblot, as they tried to calm him down. Yet, their voices never reached Vil’s ears, the cursed vapor making it too unbearable to tolerate,  forcing everyone’s bodies to freeze and remain where they were, as Vil’s voice bounced off the walls as he explained the effects of the curse, though his thoughts were elsewhere.
Fate had other plans, however, as Jamil swooped in with the magical carpet, saving them from the curse fully taking effect. With the few remaining strength, everyone got on the flying carpet and swiftly left the hall.
The outside didn’t fare any better, the sun’s light blocked by the cursed mist, not a single soul to be seen.  Absolutely deserted, fortunately. The mystery had been answered by Jamil, saying that he had used his skills to convince everyone to leave the area, having a bad feeling about what was to come.
Not a moment later did Ace, Deuce, and Epel return, to tell everyone of what they had experienced. They had managed to get any loiters away, the mist covering as soon as they finished the job.
It was only a minute later did Vil emerge in his overblot state. His emotions were haywire, spiraling out of control. Standing proud, he started to attack his team, his negative emotions making his magic stronger than ever.
The group decided it would be best to fight Vil in his overblot state and the ink-like creature behind him- at least, until reinforcements came.
Yuu had to keep a distance, something of which deepened the pain that Vil felt deep inside his gut. Vil let out a loud exclamation of his beauty as everyone got into position to battle the oveblot.
It was a tedious battle, each magic hit taking more and more out of everyone, except for Yuu as they kept hidden. So long it was, that it came to a point where everyone was panting from exhaustion, just about to give out, hopeless.
“Bet the Limit!”
Deuce launched his unique magic, shocking everyone, including Vil as his overblot was brought to an end. Memories came flooding into Yuu, and as before, like with every overblot, it was those of Vil.
Memories of his childhood as a child actor, how he was bullied for playing as the bully of the main protagonist. Of how he was always, without exception, casted as the villain. Yuu could feel their heart throb from the pain from the many years of being ignored in favor of others.
Vil dropped to the ground, his body making a loud thud as it came into contact with the ground. The shadow that once loomed over him was gone, taking its place was a single, dark gem. It was both Rook and Yuu who had rushed to Vil’s body, everyone taking the opportunity to catch their breath after the long, exhausting fight.
“Vil… Oh my beautiful Vil,” Rook grabbed ahold of Vil’s body as Yuu peered over, their eyes watery. “Please open your eyes.”
Vil groaned, pressing his hand against his temple as he tried to recollect what had happened. Yuu gushed over, their cries loud and tearful.
“You had us all worried!”
“Yuu, careful, you’ve recently came out-”
“Oh, like I care, Rook!” Yuu silenced him, looking back to Vil as he clutched his head even harder from the excess noise.
Kalim came over, too, in tears as he sniffed, “I’m so glad,” a hiccup, “Vil! Please don’t worry us like that!”
Everyone fussed over Vil as he tried to get his bearings. It took a few minutes of everyone’s chatter did Vil piece together what had happened, as Epel made a comment, remarking his overblot as a tantrum.
After some more chatter, the group brought up a rather good question: how were they going to fix the area?
Vil’s overblot had caused great damage, the entire stadium in shambles.
The question hung in the air as everyone began to panic. The VDC will become an absolute disaster should they be unable to fix the stadium in time.
As luck would have it, their savior came in the form of the Malleus Draconia, of which had become friends with the then-energetic Yuu. The moment the all-powerful fae had entered, bypassing the cursed barrier that Vil has brought up earlier, all eyes were on him as Yuu called him by Tsunotarou, eliciting shocked responses from all.
Yuu gave a full rundown as what had happened, as everyone either listened or did their own thing. Vil sat next to Rook on the broken stage, a gnawing envy eating away at his stomach. He only recognized the emotion, but could not place a finger as to why he felt such a way.
Malleus, now having a better grasp of the situation at hand, used his magic to fix the entire area, stating that Vil would owe him. Hearing that, Vil furrowed his head in confusion.
With a simple phrase, Malleus returned the stadium back to its original state, clean and free of debris.
Yuu continued to talk with Malleus, still calling them Tsunotarou despite now knowing their true name. The envy seemed to grow in Vil’s stomach as he saw the exchange, averting his eyes and turning back to Rook.
It soon came the time to perform, everyone getting ready for it. Vil was still in pain, although he hid it that no one, outside of the team of course, could tell that he was injured to begin.
The actual competition was harsh, each team giving their all. The music was loud, and everyone cheered for each team. There was a strong tension in the air from the competitors, yet there was a tinge of hopelessness, as everyone knew it would be either NRC or RSA who would win. This did not deter the competitors from giving their all, however, and all gave their best.
The voting then came, the audience tense themselves as they voted for what they thought was the best group. No one said a word, the only audible thing being the instrumental music blasting throughout the stadium. Yuu clutched their phone in anticipation, drops of sweat forming at the top of their forehead. Grim was of no help, their body heat only making it worse for Yuu. It didn’t help that soon after their friend’s performance was done, Vil had fallen as Rook called for some cooling spray and bandages.
Malleus sat next to them, their presence only bringing a small sense of comfort, Lilia carefully explaining to Malleus on how to vote, Silver and Sebek nearby, calm and collected.
The announcer came upon the stage, everyone now paying attention to them. The person held out an envelope, their voice replacing the music that once was heard.
“Oh my! The difference between first and second is by one vote!”
Yuu felt their headache becoming worse at the fact, already feeling the dread that, perhaps, their friends and Vil did not win the competition.
“Royal Sword Academy!”
Yuu could already feel the tears starting to form in the corner of their eyes, their arms pressing harder against Grimm’s small body.
“Hey! Watch it, I ain’t no stress ball, Yuu!”
Yuu looked down, and their worries eased, if only slightly. “Sorry, I’ll give you some tuna, okay?”
Grumbling, Grimm remarked that he best receive twice the amount than usual to compensate for the harsh squeezing.
Yuu could hear Neige’s voice amongst the sudden chatter, as he and the dwarves took the stage once more. Near them, Yuu also heard the voices of their friends as they expressed their astonishments, surprised at the entire outcome.
As being near the stage, due to being the manager for Vil and his group, Yuu had perfect access to the entirety of what was happening.
The words that had come out from Rook surprised them- voting for RSA? His vote likely being the tiebreaker? With this newfound information, Yuu felt a swell of emotions, all negative, yet their mind was blank as well. They didn’t know how to react, and certainly Vil did not either.
Despite their obvious loss, Neige came over to the group, speaking his truths to them, stating how the performance was something that only they, Vil and company, were capable of. As expected, everyone was speechless, unsure of how to quite respond to such praises.
Although, the next thing that Neige had brought up was… quite unexpected. Rook being a Neige fan was certainly surprising, Yuu’s anxiety washing away as it was replaced with that of laughter.
Neige then encouraged Vil to dance with him, the crowd in an uproar at the sight of the two holding hands. Vil, albeit very reluctantly, danced, keeping up a professional charade through it all.
The VDC then came to an end, Yuu quickly went backstage to meet up once again with their friends. Everyone was fine, though solemn from their loss. Vil was affected the most, still reeling in from the effects from the overblot, as well with Neige’s words.
Neige did have a point, but it still felt rather… odd, to day the least, to hear words of comfort from someone you would consider as a rival.
“How are you faring, Vil?” Yuu asked softly, their eyes half lidded, as if they were to fall asleep then and there.
“I’m all fine, Yuu,” Vil answered, hiding his injury. “No need to worry.”
Yuu’s eyes turned to a glare, their harshness causing Vil to flinch. “Now, listen, you,” Yuu spoke in a low tone, “I didn’t get surgery to remove these damn flowers to live for you only to tell me that you’re fine. You’re obviously not, Vil. Spill . Tell me what ails you.”
Vil only let out a small chuckle at Yuu’s statement, although it was not like he didn’t appreciate it- he truly did, it was just that he didn’t believe Yuu would be so aggressive about it. Yuu’s glare only became colder, as Vil let out a cough.
“Well, if you truly must know,” Vil leaned back on the wall, “It does hurt, but no need to worry. It’s not something that I can’t handle.
Yuu sighed loudly, shaking their head. “I’ll come by your room later on to give you something, alright? Once this festival ends for the day.”
“Hm? May I ask, what would it be?”
“Just something small, you’ll see,” Yuu glanced around, “Well, I don’t want to steal you from everyone else,” a small laugh, “So I’ll see you later Vil, please take care.”
Yuu gave a small bow, and then went off to meet with Ace and Deuce, already easing their way into their conversation.
Vil felt the envy come back, although small, as he watched just how Yuu conversed with their friends. Vil didn’t realize that Rook had tried to talk to him until the hunter in question began calling his name out various times.
“Mon ami, are you fine?”
“Ah, yes. I am, why do you ask, Rook?”
Rook’s worried expression was enough for Vil to understand, that he had been acting off, and truly, who else better to notice than his friend of two years?
“Roi du Poison, you have not been acting like your former self since what had happened. Is there anything that you need?”
Vil shook his head, appreciating his friend’s words. Rook may have been a secret Neige fanboy, perhaps like Neige even more than him, yet Vil knew that the friendship between the two of them was genuine. “Thank you, but there is no need.”
“Now, let us enjoy this festival, there is much left to see, is there not?”

The dorm was calm, the sound of jazz playing quietly in the background. Of course, the source of the jazz came from the ghosts as they fooled around in the dorm.
And true to Yuu’s word, they were outside of Vil’s room, a small pot of pink roses and yellow daffodils in their hands. Knocking against the wooden door, they waited.
Vil opened the door, the young man still dressed as neatly as ever.
“Good evening, Vil.”
Vil smiled softly, and replied as softly, “Good evening to you as well, Yuu.” He noticed the flowers, and raised a brow in confusion. These were the same flowers that had grown inside Yuu’s lungs…
“May I ask, are those for me?” Vil didn’t quite know what to do with such flowers, much less with the burden of the knowledge of their origins.
“Yes,” Yuu replied, their voice having a certain sadness to it, “they are.” Yuu pushed the pot into Vil’s hands, as the receiver awkwardly held the tragic flowers.
“Are these not the flowers that caused you your problem?”
“Yes,” Yuu half-lied, “They are.”
“Then why?”
Had these been normal flowers, Vil would have gratefully taken them with hope, yet these flowers, as you my dear readers know, are not normal flowers.  These were flowers born from love that was not known nor requited…
At least, at the time they were.
Oh, had the gods not meddled enough with their fate?
“Because,” Yuu managed to get out, “They represent my feelings for you. Literally.”
“I’m afraid I don’t follow,” Vil stared down at the flowers, wondering as to how they could represent Yuu’s feelings, if literally.
“These grew because of my certain feelings, and now,” Yuu began, “they live in physical form. No longer do they live inside me, those feelings, so forcibly taken out.”
Vil could only listen to Yuu, unsure of what to make of their words.
Yuu continued, “So please, take these flowers. They won’t die, not as long as my feelings for-”
Yuu choked on the word, then coughing. Alarmed, Vil placed the pot inside his room and then he hit Yuu's back to help. Once the cough had subsided, Yuu weakly pushed Vil’s arm away from them, flashing them a sad smile.
“Yuu…?”
“I’ll be fine, I suppose I should be resting. You as well,” Yuu warned, “But I guess I can’t really chastise you for that, huh?”
“True, we both have our own faults, I suppose,” Vil chuckled.
“As I was saying. As long as the feelings I have are true, the flowers will persist. They won’t die, at least, not like before.”
“What do you mean?” Vil gave Yuu a puzzled look. Not like before?
“These flowers would have died should I had felt another emotion at the time, but since I didn’t feel it, or well, receive it, the flowers grew until it became a serious problem,” Yuu sighed, “Honestly, I’m pretty sure I won’t ever feel those feelings again, at least, not if I replant the flower seeds.”
“Why in the name of the Seven would you do such a thing?” Vil couldn’t understand, but ignorance is bliss, as one would say.
“For love.”
Those words, those two words, brought Vil’s expression to one of shock.
“Of… love?”
“Yes, of love,” Yuu glanced downwards, avoiding Vil’s eyes, “My world, we have our patron gods. The one that oversees our city is that of love. Tragic love, as one may say,” they hoarsely laughed, “Our city is known for being the one where one may experience love so easily, yet the catch is that such love may turn out to be tragic. I would go into detail as to why, but I’m afraid,” a yawn, “that it would be a story for another day.”
“I see…”
Still not meeting their eyes, Yuu then said, “I only wanted you to be aware. Please, I know you may not love me in return, but I ask that you take care of these flowers. That’s all.”
Without a response from Vil, Yuu turned and left, their footsteps echoing throughout the hall as Vil contemplated their thoughts.
Vil, slowly, closed the door, quietly. He picked up the pot, walked, and sat on his bed. The flowers were as beautiful as ever, the smell of cleaning agents gone, as if they were never there. Who knew that such flowers would represent such a thing.
It took a moment for Vil to realize and fully comprehend Yuu’s words.
Love.
Why, of all people, had Yuu given them the flowers? It couldn’t be because they had loved him, right?
Surely, that’s not why?
Vil gasped loudly, as he felt his injuries starting to flare up. Foolish, he was, not realizing it earlier.  Why now, of all times, had he fully realized his feelings? All the envy, the need to call out for Yuu, the concern, everything.
Yuu loved him. And he, loved Yuu.
Yet, Yuu didn’t have the privilege to feel such emotions, do they? For it was the flowers that were the physical representation of their love…
Truly, he was ever so foolish.

Of Pink Roses and Yellow Daffodils
Yuu x Vil
Summary: Yuu came from a world where the name of their soulmate is written on their chest and where one sided love led to flowers growing in your lungs.
Yuu had thought they wouldn't have to deal with such things, now being in Twisted Wonderland, yet it appears like their old world lingers into them.
(This focuses more on Yuu's feelings towards Vil. Vil makes only a brief appearance.)

When Yuu was brought into the world of Twisted Wonderland, their hope was immeasurable. No longer were they bound by the laws that dictated their homeland, no longer restricted by the death stricken rules.
Yet the moment they looked at the mirror, undressed from the waist up, their hope diminished. There laid the name of their soulmate- Vil Schoenheit, in clear black cursive, just above where their heart should have been. Upon seeing the mark, the dreadful, horrendous tattoo that has been there since birth, they fell to their knees, tears trailing down their cheeks as they wailed for hours.
Grim didn’t know what to make of the despairing human in front of them, but they remained silent, smart enough to realize that this was a moment that Yuu needed by themselves.
As the days went by, and Yuu’s adventures with Deuce and Ace continued, as the overblot incidents continued and ended by their hands, they were happy. No mark would dissuade them from the happiness they felt, nothing could stop them forming the friendships they had made.
Until they met their soulmate.
Yuu was flabbergasted at first, not knowing how to feel. Happy? Sad? Hopeful? Despair? Truly, knowing the fact that their soulmate was never in their world but instead in this one was something they needed to contemplate on. Surely, this meant that there was no going back to where they originated, or if they do, would this mean in heartbreak?
Yet, as their friends prepared for the competition, as Vil instructed them in the confines of their dorm, Yuu could feel the loss of breath with every step they took, petals coughed out every once and while, Yuu knew they were in trouble. Despair overwhelmed them as they sat in their bed, coughing as quietly as they could in their hand.
The yellow petals and specks of blood laid in their hand, no more coming out. Yuu let out a coarse fit of laughter. Oh how the universe hated them. In the short amount of time they had known Vil, Yuu had grown to love them.
Vil’s beauty was something to behold, their intellect and knowledge seeming to heighten their beauty. Oh how they were unafraid and uncaring of gender norms, oh how they walked the halls with great confidence. Each passing day that Yuu had seen Vil, their love for him grew as well. The fact that they were to be their soulmate didn’t help; in fact, it worsened it.
Yuu picked themselves up from their bed, careful with their hands to not leave a trace of their blood, making their way to the bathroom.
Another fit of coughs shook their body as another set of petals, this time pink, erupted from them. The sink was now a beautifully and chaotically decorated with pink and yellow petals, the blood seemingly in place with it all.
Yuu looked in the mirror, their eyes red and puffy from the pain, small bags underneath from the exhaustion. Their frame was slightly different as well, Skinnier than it was a week ago, though it wasn’t obvious as the rest of their symptoms. The petals in their throat had made it painful to consume anything edible, so the past few days have been wrought with a hungry stomach and chest pains.
Overall, their disheveled state was ugly and horrendous, perhaps this was their worst point of their life, besting their previous phases of life that have been riddled with pain and despair.
Knocking interrupted their wallowing of self-pity, the voice ringing out loudly in the bathroom, asking if they were okay.
With a coarse and high voice, Yuu replied, “All is well.”
Another violent fit of coughing, more painful than the last, shook their entire body. It was loud, no doubt their cries had awoken everyone in the dorm by now.
The knocking became louder, more frantic and Yuu gripped onto the sink with every fiber of their being. The fit ended, the sink now halfway filled with various petals and small flowers.
The last thing they saw was the door busting open as they fell onto the cold wooden floor.
Yuu woke up the next day in the infirmary, their throat sore and dry and their limbs too weak to move. Carefully they moved their head to the side and the other, noticing a lack of human presence all around.
They were awake for what felt like an eternity in silence, staring at the white ceiling as they processed last night’s events.
They heard the door open, yet they didn’t move their head. It wasn’t until they heard the person whisper out their name did they shift their eyes.
“You’re awake!”
The loud voice strained their ears but they dealt with the pain, as the figure, Crowley they now realized, continued to talk. Apparently everyone that had witnessed their body being taken from the bathroom were concerned, causing Vil to cancel practice as everyone was too worried to do anything.
“What… happened?” Yuu asked hoarsely. They regretted asking, the pain seeming to only intensify when they bothered to talk. Yuu didn’t want to know how much pain they would be if they ate anything.
“Well, according to Vil, they had found you unconscious on the ground,” Crowley started off, “and that the sink was filled with flower petals and blood. Pray tell, whatever had happened, Perfect?”
“Can I…. get something…. To write with? My…. throat is in…. Pain…”
“Yes, of course. Please do give me a moment.” Crowley scurried off to who knows where, as Yuu tried to sit up. The end result was another fit of coughs, the sound of hacking resonating throughout the room.
Crowley returned quickly, seeing the perfect coughing up petals and blood that stained the perfectly white bed sheets.
“Perfect! Drink this, it should aid with the pain.” Crowley handed Yuu a vial that was filled with a blue liquid. Knowing what it was, Yuu drank it as quickly as they could, knowing that there was another fit of coughs that would come. And come it did, ruining the bed sheets even further with the pink and yellow petals, the blood making the room smell like iron. Although, as Crowley had said, the potion did ease the pain, even if by the little.
“I brought you something to write with.” Crowley handed Yuu a small notepad and a nice black pen.
Yuu began to write.
This illness is from my universe. It’s not contagious, so no need to worry if it passes on. This illness is dependent on certain emotions. The most efficient way to cure it completely is surgery, as it originates in the chest, however that leads to a void of emotions afterwards.
Crowley looked confused at the note, “What do you mean it is dependent on emotions? Are you able to elaborate on this specific illness?”
Yuu nodded solemnly, and then began to write even more.
It’s called the Hanahaki disease. It only takes hold if the person believes that their love is unrequited. It goes away once the love is returned or if the person gets surgery to remove the flowers from their lungs.
“What a tragic disease!” Crowley’s voice was laced with concern, although Yuu could guess that losing them as a beast tamer would be something he was more concerned about than their actual wellbeing.
I’ll go through the surgery.
Crowley started at them, “Are you sure? You did say it was caused if they believed the love to be unrequited. How do you know for certain that it applies in your case?”
Yuu laughed at the thought of Vil loving them. There would be no reason why Vil would love them. Yuu had fallen in love too fast and too hard. Vil had been focused on the dance practice and making sure everyone was in tip top shape for the performance.
I know for certain. The person in question is too busy to think about love, there is no doubt that they are far too concerned with current events. Please Headmaster, let me go through the surgery before it’s too late.
Crowley hummed in thought, perhaps thinking about how expensive it would be to cover a surgery to remove branches from the lungs. Yuu couldn’t think of another way to get rid of them. No matter how much they wanted Vil to love them back, they knew that it wouldn’t happen.
If you could, remove their name. My world has it that those destined to you have their names inscribed on your chest, above the heart. I don’t want to be reminded, otherwise the disease will take hold again.
“What an odd world you once lived in. Well, do not fret! I will do as you asked. I will do everything in my ability to aid you with this disease, aren’t I so kind?”
Yuu rolled their eyes, but they were glad to know that Crowley was the same as ever.
Thank you, Headmaster. A million thanks.
Days had passed, and no one had come to visit. Vil had everyone practice once they knew about their wellbeing. It pained Yuu, as they felt lonely as ever.
It did ease the disease, if only a little bit. They still continue to cough out flowers in full bloom, pink roses and yellow daffodils being what came from them. How fitting, their meaning. They certainly felt no joy in this, nor was there any gratitude, yet grace was ironic, in a sense. Was it because that Vil was the epitome of beauty and grace that they coughed out pink roses?
And what of the yellow daffodils? They represented rebirth and new beginnings. Was it them coming to this new world that the disease had sprouted such flowers? Or is it what is to come afterwards of surgery, that they were to feel like new?
Yuu didn’t know for certain, but they wanted the pain to end. It was already painful enough that they knew Vil was never going to love them, but the fact that the disease had taken place in their lungs only served to make Yuu feel worse. They didn’t need a constant reminder of their one-sided love.
Crowley had stayed true to his word, as he managed to get an appointment for Yuu. Unfortunately it meant that Yuu had to leave off campus to go to an actual hospital, but it was fine. It made Yuu wonder why there wasn’t a hospital on campus, although they supposed perhaps having an infirmary was enough in most cases.
Getting to the hospital was all a blur, going from coughing out roses and daffodils to sleeping from the exhaustion from making the flowers to begin with. It didn’t help that they began to eat less, the pain in their throat making it difficult to eat anything.
Yuu only had hope they would be able to survive the surgery. The rates for the surgery were high in their world, after all, many people fell in love and got stricken with the disease all the time.
Their love and emotions may disappear with the surgery, yet Yuu never regret falling in love. Their only regret in all of this was letting themselves fall too hard in love.
The surgery had been a success, from what Yuu had been told. Yuu asked the surgeons to preserve the flowers, despite the pain they had caused. As weird as it was, Yuu wanted a reminder of love, a reminder of a feeling that they once felt.
And preserve them, they did. Yuu held the vase of pink roses and daffodils in their arms. The flowers were no longer bloody, as it was a sort of a hazard to keep blood on there. Nonetheless, the flowers were pretty and lovely, as once their love was for Vil. Yuu felt normal as usual, save for the slight discomfort in their throat and overall being.
Though, upon their return to the college, they were quickly ushered to their room, Grim bouncing around in joy the moment they saw them.
“You had the Great Grim concerned! A servant like you shouldn’t make me concerned!”
Despite the comment, Grim stayed with Yuu as they were forcibly bed ridden.
Deuce and Ace, of course, had made their way to the Perfect’s room, making sure everything was fine and asking questions. Yuu made sure not to delve too much about what had happened, only mentioning that it was a disease from their world that caused flora to sprout under certain conditions. Never did they mention what kind of conditions, nor did ever why they hadn’t stopped it earlier when they noticed when they did.
Right before they left, of which greatly saddened Yuu to be left alone again, they had mentioned they were making great strides of practicing, despite the obvious tension between Vil and Epel. Yuu was happy about the progress, perhaps their friends would be able to win the competition that they all have been working hard towards. Although, when Vil’s name had been said by their beloved friend, they had felt nothing, only a void where their love should have been once.
The surgery was clearly a success, but Yuu was unsure if the empty void was worth it.
Late that evening, surprisingly, Vil and Rook came to visit. It was nothing out of the ordinary, or at least, that is what Yuu had thought. The emptiness was still there when they looked at Vil, no longer feeling the same about their beauty nor their grace as they once did. Yuu could tell that the two had noticed something was off about them, but they didn’t ask.
When they left, Yuu could feel themselves becoming overwhelmed. They never anticipated feeling sadness after the whole ordeal, nor did they anticipate the cries that came out from them. Yet no matter how much they wanted to cry out and shout their despair away, no matter how much they wanted to wail as loudly as they could, their friends were still in the dorm, sleeping to prepare for the big day.
Yuu wondered, would it have been better if they confessed their feelings to Vil? Yet as soon as that question came, it quickly became answered, that no, it would not have been best to confess to Vil. Had they confessed, they were certain that Vil would have rejected them, and only progressed the illness even further, and perhaps even strain their relationship until the moment of Yuu’s certain death. And Yuu’s death would be a terrible loss for the college as a whole, as no matter how insignificant Yuu thinks they are, they are still the reason why the overblot incidents never ended in any casualties, since they were always the ones to end it. As much as Yuu would have liked to die with their love intact, it would have never benefited any party except for Yuu themselves.
So Yuu laid in their bed, quietly crying. Crying over the love they once held in their heart, because no matter what had happened in the end, their love had brought them hope. Pulling themselves out from bed, Yuu unbuttoned their shirt and pulled it down, and anything else in the way to get a clear view of their chest. Sure enough, where the name had once clearly been, there was nothing. What had remained was the scars from the surgery. Yuu didn’t know if they regretted having Vil’s name removed, but the deed had been done and there was nothing they could do about it.
Nothing at all.
Yet as they continued to wallow in their self-pity, Yuu knew that the surgery was the best option they had taken so far. What else could they have done that would have prevented their death? Nothing, that’s what.
There was nothing they could have done.
So all Yuu could do now was finish their session of tears, and focus on the future.
But for now they’ll give themselves this moment of mourning for the emotions that they once had possessed.
For that was all they could do.

Performance
Summary: It's just another day for Yuu and Engel at the Mostro Lounge.
ao3 link: here
warnings: none
songs: this
part: 3/3

-> 2 (previous)
word count: 1,950
--
Lively.
That is what one would describe the lounge as. Lively.
There was a singer on stage, singing ever hypnotically. They had captured most of the customer’s attention, drawing them in with their voice.
I'm gonna wear blue
And find a pair of flat black leather shoes
But shine more than a diamond, mine could do
And add something new
Engel took an order from a table, their footsteps unheard as they yelled out the order to those preparing it. In a matter of minutes, the drinks came out, Engel quickly swiped the drinks, already walking back to the table.
They set down the drinks to the Savanaclaw students, who only glanced at the drinks in acknowledgement.
To another table they go.
I drop a hint and then my keys
And then I cast a net
To catch someone who's even searchin, night he won't forget
The night continued on like that, taking orders and serving them. Many more people came in by the sheer number, enraptured by the voice that sang.
Engel was one of the few waiters out there- the other being Octanivelle students, who were inherently less affected by the voice. After all, a siren cannot enchant a fellow mer like they do with non-mer.
Engel stole a glance at the singer- their beloved Yuu. It was near the end of the song, and Engel knew that as soon as Yuu would finish their song, there would be an influx of orders for a proper meal.
Gonna drop the yellow pages
Finally then she had a thrill
To dress me up and make me look like someone else instead
It's time for my rehearsal, the ultimate reversal
You see, I've got it planned
I'm coming back as a man
With the last of the notes of the song, there was an audible increase of chatter, customers talking amongst themselves. Engel didn’t bother to listen to the chatter. They had to focus on their job, otherwise they knew they would make a mistake should they listen in on the gossip.
“How’s the night going, Engel?”
The question broke Engel’s concentration, as they turned to the owner of the new voice. It was Jade, who was manning the counter- it looked like everyone had a drink or a meal, so the vice dorm-head had free time, it seemed.
“Oh! Everything is going well, Jade,” Engel enthusiastically replied, as they gathered another batch of orders, “Is Yuu taking a break right now?”
“Yes,” Jade smiled, “Although, if you wish to catch them before the next song, I suggest you do so in the next few minutes. They have another song coming up, though I suppose you know that already.”
“I see, thanks for the heads up! I’ll see you in a bit, Jade!” Engel nodded as a means of farewell, their hands occupied. They left just as Jade their own farewell, their feet quick to take them to their destination.
After setting down the plates to a group of Scarabia students, Engel then speedily walked to the employee break room. Upon opening the door, Engel squealed in delight, running up to an exhausted Yuu, who readily accepted the unexpected hug.
“Well, hello to you too, my love,” Yuu chuckled, “Careful with the suit. I don’t want your efforts going to waste, aight?”
“Ahhhhh, Yuu!” Engel only squeezed them tighter, “You did wonderfully! You never cease to amaze me with your voice!”
“Thanks?”
“It’s a compliment, silly goose!”
Engel released Yuu from their suffocating hug, eyeing Yuu up and down. They wore a suit- one that Engel had created with their own two hands. It was a tux, but with extended tails (the rear end of the fabric, from what Engel had learned). It suited Yuu well, giving them a slightly more feminine appearance with how long and ruffled the tails were.
“Ah, your makeup is a bit smudged,” Engel noticed. “Let me get the kit Vil gave us…” Engel left Yuu’s side for a moment, retrieving the item, then returning. Utilizing what they had learned from Vil, Engel managed to fix up Yuu’s make up. It was put on in a way that it made Yuu’s face look more masucline than usual. It was enough that no one would recognize Yuu bare-face, allowing them to evade others from recognizing them as the hypnotic voice from the Mostro lounge.
“Thanks, love,” Yuu quietly replied.
“Anything for you, my dear.”
An alarm rang out, disrupting whatever moment Engel and Yuu had. Yuu gave an apologetic look to Engel, who, in turn, only shook their head. Engel pulled Yuu up from their chair, and led them to the door. Before opening the door, Engel raised Yuu’s hand and kissed it softly, watching Yuu’s face become flushed from the small action.
“Good luck!” Engel teased, as they opened the door and left, leaving Yuu a moment to their thoughts. Yuu shook their head after fully processing it, and then left the silence of the room, entering the lounge.
It was time for another performance.
----
It was quiet.
No one would have thought that this was the same lively lounge from a few hours prior. It was empty, save for a few souls that needed to stay behind, and clean. Azul sat at one of the booths, Engel and Yuu in front of him, Jade standing at the end of the table. Unseen, Floyd was elsewhere, the sound of food sizzling distantly heard.
“Thanks to Yuu’s performance, we earned the same amount of profit as last week.” Azul looked over the papers, quick to do the math of how much was earned. He was evidently pleased with the turn of events- a smile staining his beautiful face.
“That’s great,” Engel softly replied. Yuu quietly sat next to them, unable to speak. The performance had left Yuu drained of all energy. It took too much energy to even speak.
“The number of people asking about Yuu increased,” Jade casually commented. Engel raised a brow, slinging an arm around Yuu.
“Is that so?”
Jade noticed the interaction, and chuckled, “Fufu, worry not, I do not believe they were asking for malicious reasons, Engel.”
“If you say so,” Engel happily chirped, though there was an edge to their words. Azul briefly glanced at them, but didn’t comment on it.
A slam grabbed their attention, as everyone turned to look at the source of the noise. In very typical fashion, it was Floyd- who kicked the door open, a large plate of some sort of pasta in his grasp.
The eel mer sauntered over, placing the large plate right besides the papers.
“Floyd, careful with that.” Azul moved his papers, scooting over to the end of the table and moving the papers, so that they wouldn’t be any stains. Jade took a seat, as did his brother, although Floyd sat next to Engel.
“So,” Floyd began, giving some utensils to his brother- who graciously took them without a second thought. “How long will the contract with Shachi-chan and Selkie-chan last?”
Yuu didn’t say a word.
“Hmm,” Engel pondered, “I think it’s for life?” They had signed the contract, although they had forgotten most of the details already- it’s been about a month or so since they did.
“Correct. It’s for life,” Azul paused his reading, “Yuu will be under my employment until retirement, since I’ll be providing them a means to live once they graduate from here.”
“Oh?” Floyd smiled as he took another bite of his meal. Engel eyed the plate- it was large. And the twins already ate a good small portion of it.
“What about when we’re fourth years, and the year after?” Jade questioned, wiping his mouth. It was a valid question, considering the fact that fourth years would have to leave the school on internships, then there was the fact that Engel and Yuu were technically a grade below them.
“Who do you take me for, Jade?” Azul grinned, propping his arms onto the table, “I have a plan to ensure that the business continues when we’re in our fourth year. After Engel and Yuu have finished their fourth years, I’ll make sure that they’ll live comfortably down in the deep blue sea.”
“Really?” Engel’s eyes sparkled with hope, “Thank you!”
“No, no need. I have to thank you,” Azul corrected, “The two of you brought in more profit than I would have by myself. Truly, Yuu’s voice is astounding- it’s quite the good thing that their voice is almost useless against mer. And you Engel, you brought in a few customers yourself, if a bit fewer than Yuu had brought in. Don’t think I haven’t noticed.”
Yuu glared at Azul, but they remained silent. Engel wondered how they brought in customers, but they had a suspicion it had to do with the fact they were a selkie- Engel didn’t quite like the implication of it, but they too, remained silent.
Azul continued, “With the profits, it’s more than enough to pay for your living expenses, now and in the future.”
“Oh? So Shachi-chan and Selkie-chan are gonna stay with us forever?~” Floyd appeared to brighten up at the idea, turning to look at Engel.
“It does seem that way, fufu.” Jade smiled. Engel felt unease by it, although they couldn’t pinpoint as to why.
“Nonetheless, we’re doing well, financially.” Azul sighed, picking up the papers and organizing them into a folder. He glanced at the clock on the distant wall, “We should finish this up and head to bed.”
With that, they cleared the table.
----
Ramshackle dorm was quiet, not a sound heard, save for the subtle footsteps. Engel and Yuu made their way up to their dorm room that they shared. Engel clutched onto their pelt, which was large enough for Engel and Yuu to fit inside as they had came from the Octanivelle dorm in the cold.
Engel never had their pelt more than 20 feet away from them.
They entered their room- spotting a snoring Grim on the bed. On performance days, Grim was left alone to his own devices. The two mer quickly shifted out of their work clothing, donning comfortable clothing. They gently moved Grim, laying themselves down. They faced one another, Engel’s pelt laid over them, with Grin right at top.
“Today was nice.”
“Yea. It was.” Yuu lazily smiled, their eyes droopy.
“Sleep well, my darling.”
“G’night, love.”
Yuu quickly fell asleep, but Engel didn’t. Sure, they were tired, but they remained up to look at Yuu’s sleeping facial features.
They recalled the time when Yuu was introduced to them, after their mother was taken away. They recalled when Yuu had become their friend, and consequently, their beloved. They recalled the painful moment when Yuu was taken by the carriage after the two of them were drawn into the forest. They recalled how they searched for Yuu for months. They recalled when they, too, were finally brought to this world, better than the old, and thus reuniting with their beloved. They recalled Yuu’s first performance, and many more moments.
It was hard, no doubt. It was one plight after another, but they stood together through it all, even when they were separated for a good amount of time. Engel touched their bracelet- its warmth brought a smile to their face.
Sure, they’re practically bound to Azul via contract for the rest of their lives, but that didn’t matter. They no longer resided in the old, barbaric world. No longer did Engel have to fear the worst, and no longer did they have to worry.
After all, didn’t they promise to stay together, even through hell itself?
Engel fell asleep with that last thought on their mind.

I really liked your Floyd x Yuu story! It was so cute with their future kid! <3 Could I please request a Floyd x Yuu with Floyd in his eel form?
Aight so like. Idk what you wanted in particular, but here ya go.
Summary: It’s a hot day and Yuu decides to take a bath. Floyd interrupts.
word count: 1,275
-Bathtub Mermaid-
The sun beamed harshly outside, its rays felt across Yuu’s skin. Yuu couldn’t quite stand warm weather, preferring the great indoors above all else. So, while the weather was perfect to run and do sports outside, for Yuu, it was the opposite.
Worse still, they were in class, and only halfway through their schedule. Yuu internally groaned at the prospect of staying another few hours inside the main school building, but it couldn’t be helped.
“Oi, Yuu, are you gonna be fine?” Grim asked quietly, as to not bring any attention to them. He pawed at Yuu’s arm, making sure they heard him.
“It’s just too hot, Grim,” Yuu whispered in return, already feeling the beads of sweat forming on their temple.
“Eh? Is it? It’s perfectly fine for me, eh.” Grim looked at Yuu quizzically, although he didn’t ask any further on the subject.
“I’m just not used to this weather.” Yuu raised a hand and fanned to fan themselves with, although it barely helped.
“Hmm, what about we get some ice cream when we go back to Ramshackle?” Grim offered.
“That could work,” Yuu muttered, “‘Sure.”
As soon as Yuu finished their conversation, they could feel the eyes of the teacher boring into their skull. Yuu flashed a small smile, luckily enough to show the teacher that they were still paying attention.
--
The cafeteria no longer sold ice cream.
Yuu groaned loudly as they carried their bag of ice cream, bought from Sam’s Store. As usual, there was a sort of discount, so Yuu managed to save a few madol, although the lighter wallet made itself known.
Yuu cursed silently- they would have to pick up an extra few shifts from the Mostro Lounge to make up for the loss.
Their legs burned from running from Sam’s Shop straight to Ramshackle, but the moment they put the ice cream within the freezer of the dorm’s kitchen, Yuu had never felt more relief than in that moment. Yet, they couldn’t eat the ice cream- so they decided upon the next best thing that their dorm could offer.
A bathtub.
Yuu couldn’t remember the last time they’ve been in it, if ever. Their memory wasn’t the best, but Yuu didn’t quite mind- as long as they wrote what was needed and knew the basics, all was well.
So, they prepared a bath and dressed accordingly, that is, Yuu adorned shorts and a thin, short sleeve hoodie, all to take a dip within the large bathtub that their dorm had to offer.
The tub was cold- refreshingly so, and Yuu practically melted once they submerged themselves in the cold water. To their surprise, the tub was rather large- perhaps big enough to fit several more people in. Yuu wondered what was the purpose of such a large tub. They also noted that the handles were much larger, as if to accommodate for a large being.
Truly, Ramshackle Dorm was ever the mystery.
Sinking themselves further into the water, Yuu failed to notice the footsteps that noisily stomped outside of the bathroom, nor did they notice the new voice that called out for them.
“Koebi-chan.~ Where are you?~”
And yet, Yuu still didn’t notice.
“Koebi-chan, where- ah, there you are!”
Floyd walked over to the bath, as Yuu has yet to realize his presence.
“Koebi-chan?~”
Nothing.
Grinning, Floyd began to strip naked. No doubt, if Yuu was even remotely aware of their surroundings, they would have left at a moment’s notice.
Once Floyd was satisfied with the state of things, he entered into the tub, allowing himself to fully submerge. The amount of water was just enough for the eel mer to transform to his original form, causing ripples in the water as he did so.
Yuu just barely noticed it, opening their eyes the moment Floyd had fully reverted to his mer form, their eyes meeting with Floyd’s own mismatched ones.
“Koebi-chan, you didn’t answer me earlier, so I came to you!~”
“Eh?” Yuu looked at Floyd with confusion and shock, their eyes wide, brows raised, and mouth agape. “But I never heard you?”
“You wound me, Koebi-chan,” Floyd frowned, “I was calling for you the moment I entered your dorm!”
“Well, I… uh…” Yuu couldn’t form a coherent sentence, much less think of one. They were all too aware of their surroundings, unlike before. They could feel something shift around them, no doubt it being the mer’s long tail.
“I guess I just gotta make sure Koebi-chan remembers me, huh?~” Floyd moved, his tail now wrapping around Yuu, pulling them closer to him, “I ought to give you a good squeezing, Koebi-chan.~”
“How about no?” Yuu replied, “I have ice cream, I can give you some?”
Floyd stares intensely at Yuu for a moment, face blank, nothing to give any indication of whatever emotion he was feeling at the moment. Yuu could feel the anxiety beginning to swell up in their stomach the longer Floyd stared at them.
Finally, his mouth broke out in a grin.
“Sure, koebi-chan.~”
Yet, Yuu could feel Floyd’s tail tighten around them.
“But not until I get to stay here a bit more, eheh.~”
All Yuu could do was nod.
--
Yuu awoke with a start, gasping the moment they came to be. For a moment they couldn’t recognize the tile wall in front of them, nor they could process what they felt on their skin, something, no, someone, tightly hugging their entire body.
It wasn’t until Yuu’s eyes adjusted to the brightness did they realize the predicament they were in. Quietly, they thanked themselves for not thrashing around, noticing that Floyd, too, had fallen asleep, his face nuzzling the crook of their neck. Judging by the amount of light pouring from the window, it must have been the evening, though the hour, Yuu didn’t know.
The water was cold as ever, yet thankfully, Floyd’s tight hold on Yuu’s body was just enough that they could practically feel Floyd’s body heat, contrasting with the cooler side of the water from what they could feel.
Now, the only problem was getting Floyd to wake up.
Yuu raised a hand, poking on the side of Floyd’s cheek, “Hey, Floyd. Wake up.”
Nothing.
Groaning, Yuu tried harder, raising their voice slightly, “Hey, Leech, wake up before I thrash around.”
“...”
Yuu could see Floyd’s eye flutter open, as they looked around, adjusting to the scenery around them. They could also feel their hold on them loosen, causing Yuu to instinctively hold onto Floyd.
“Oh, Koebi-chan is squeezing me?~ How bold.~” He commented, now fully aware of the situation, yet he tightened his hold on Yuu, shifting a bit so that he was now leaning back, Yuu straddling the mer. The shift alone was enough to cause Yuu’s face to darken considerably, Floyd laughing at the fact.
“What’s so funny?!” Yuu’s voice went high in pitch, despite their best attempts to remain serious.
“You’re blushing.~”
“No I’m not!” Yuu could feel more blush rush to their face, “Anyways! It’s late, shouldn’t you be going back to your dorm!?”
“Hmmm… Nope!~”
“Eh?!”
Floyd hummed, “I need a potion to return to being human, but I don’t got one on me.”
“Eh, so would you have to ask Jade or Azul for one?!”
“Eyup.~”
“Flippin’ heck, Floyd.”
“Eheh.”
“Can you at least let me go?”
Floyd faked ponderment, as Yuu felt their face cooling down.
“Hm… No.~”
“Floyd!”
Floyd ignored Yuu’s protests, instead opting to hug Yuu, who stiffened at the contact. After a moment, they relaxed.
Quietly, Yuu mouthed to one of the ghosts for help, who, in the distance, gave Yuu a thumbs up.
