My Take on an Axolotl Origin for the Origins Mod!
Please note: I do not know how to code, so this is just a concept. If anyone who knows how it works can explain it to me I will absolutely attempt to make this exist, though.
This takes into account the different axolotl origins I’ve seen, and what I like and dislike about them (the way one of them called Axolotls fish will never cease to annoy me, so I’ve made sure to refer to them correctly as amphibians here), as well as what I’ve seen in other origins. I’ve also looked at the abilities of Minecraft axolotls themselves and taken those into account.
Passive Abilities:
Aqua Affinity:
You can breathe, see, and mine underwater as easily as a human on land.
When on land, you are slowed, and after too long out of water, you will begin to suffocate. (5 minutes, same as Minecraft Axolotls)
Against the Current:
You are unaffected by flowing water.
Aquatic:
Like other aquatic mobs, you take increased damage from tridents enchanted with Impaling
Small:
As an axolotl, you are less than a block tall. Mobs will have to be closer to see you, but you have a shorter reach. You also have less hearts than a human (7) [Minecraft Axolotls have 7 hearts]
Oceanic:
You spawn in a warm ocean biome.
The Cutest Predator:
You deal increased damage to hostile ocean mobs, such as Drowned and Guardians. You are also immune to mining fatigue.
Piscivore:
You can only eat raw fish, but they provide increased hunger points, especially tropical fish. (Technically real axolotls only eat live fish, but I’ll go with this instead. Also, gapples and potions are exceptions to this)
Amphibious:
As an water-dwelling amphibian, you take increased damage from fire and heat as your slimy skin begins to dry out.
The Nether is especially dangerous for you, and you will find yourself going up in flames unless you are wearing armor enchanted with fire protection.
Play Dead:
When low on HP, you can enter a dormant state for 10 seconds to heal. Mobs will ignore you, however you are unable to move or attack while playing dead.
Active Abilities:
Primary Ability: Regenerate:
You can self-regenerate by pressing [keybind]! This ability has a 15-second cooldown.
Secondary Ability: Ocean’s Blessing:
When you press [keybind], you can provide nearby allies with a 15 second burst of regeneration and remove all negative effects. This ability has a one-minute cooldown.
Feel free to leave me some notes on how to improve this, and if any of the powers should be tweaked for balancing or are not possible to implement.
