just a thought for everyone out there who thinks gay people shouldn’t be parents or that kids shouldn’t have access to the lgbt community: I am a straight woman but I often find myself in queer spaces and with queer friends and there is NOTHING, mark my words, NOTHING that has taught me more about love, beauty, and humanity than having the privilege of being witness to the queer community. Because it is a community that values discovery and individuality and the journey of becoming. It is a space that challenges people to make their own identities and be brave and harness their voice. It is loving and inclusive. There is no one I would trust more to raise a child than members of the queer community. If I have kids, they will grow up surrounded by the queer people in my life and they will be so much the better for it.
