WIP Questionaire
thanks for tagging me @thetruearchmagos
1. What is the first part of your WIP that you created?
I made the map years ago with no story in mind, I just wanted to make my own world. That first map was very different from the current draft, I wasn't very experienced with map making then. But the countries and major locations are pretty much the same.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
I tried really hard to find a song to fill this question, but after going through my spotify playlists and trying to think of one from memory, I just couldn't come up with one that fit.
So, here's the Duke's of Hazzard Intro. I was gonna use this just as a joke, but if you actually listen to the lyrics of the song it kind of fits with the general theme of my wip.
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
I really like Cozar's backstory, his personality, and where I plan to take him. It took me a while to discover him and piece him together, but I'm really satisfied with what I've come up with. Oros is another character of mine, and while he might not be a main one I think he has potential to be entertaining.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fan base would share?
I'm really not sure about that. I'm not really part of many current, big, or well known fandoms, so I'm not sure what attracts those fanbases to their media. I want to have a good number of characters that are thoroughly explored within an adventure/redemption story. So other pieces of media that share those traits would probably share fans with my wip.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
Motivation and doubt. I doubt myself and my abilities, I wonder if people will like what I write or think that its weird, boring, or predictable. I'm afraid of mean criticism and its tough for me to share what I've written. I've also struggled with motivation because my courses are very writing intense and have sucked out the joy I used to get from writing.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
The only one that's important in my first book at least is the Wharzov. It is a large and dangerous feline predator that lives in the taiga of southern Norphendra. The easiest way to describe it is a gray sabertoothed mountain lion. It also preys on humans.
7. How do your characters get around? (Ex. Trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
Lots of different ways, the common everyday methods of transportation don't really differ from ones we use in our world. Throughout the first book alone they use cars, planes, and trains. At the end though, they get a new super secret way to travel that I won't talk about yet haha.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
Like I touched on before, my school courses have ruined writing for me. It's turned into something I see as a chore because I hate all the things I've had to write for my classes. They're long, tedious, and boring, and so its become very hard for me to dedicate my free time to writing after being forced to spend hours typing something I hate. So I haven't worked on my wip in months.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe) of your WIP do you think will draw people in?
The tough bad boy that just needs some love. If this was a popular anime, there'd definately be some wattpad fanfictions about Cozar lol.
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
That its something that people see, and its something that makes people happy.

WIP Questionnaire
Thank you kindly for the Tag, @theprissythumbelina !
1. What is the first part of your WIP that you created?
Well, the Setting, probably, which as an answer works for just about any of the WIPs I could name. In theory you could argue Gustav and the Magician, individually and as a 'set' of sorts, technically predate my coming up with the 12 Worlds, but the form they took then has only passing resemblance to their current incarnation.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Ooo, well, I've been thinking I'd probably see about getting something original made, or making something myself as a side thing. I mean, I kinda envision a lot of my WIPs as serial animations in my head anyhow, so I've put more thought into this question than reality is ever likely to require.
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
Well... You know how big this list could be. I love all of them, and at any moment which forces / allows me to dig deeper into any single one of them makes me love them even more. Still, my final choice is an obvious one: Gustav Johann Schmidt, who's been in it since the very start, and who's voice has by now almost become my own whenever he comments on some facet of his world in the same way I would.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fan base would share?
Hmm, well, I've always thought this would go down two tracks. First of all being the classic 'Techno Thriller' crowd, the sorts who like tanks going boom and spies under deep cover: I'd go with things like The Hunt For Red October and Red Storm Rising, both being stalwarts of the genre which have absolutely been personally inspiring. The second track goes down the wider book / writing community, or at least those looking for 'genre fiction' and all that, who might discover the 12 Worlds more on its fantastical or worldbuilding grounds than for its techno thriller nature: I don't really 'understand' what I'd mean by this cohort myself as much, but I guess it could include series like ASOIAF, possibly.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
Well... If we're speaking in the past tense, as far as things that have already happened go I'd put forwards "making sure the worldbuilding exists and isn't utterly contradictory", since there's too little writing down so far to count for a big struggle. Dates are hard, and measuring things on the order of decades to a century leaves me with a lot of uncomfortable dead space on one hand, and a bunch of events clustered together on the other. Untangling this has to happen before the writing does, to me, and it's gonna be hellish.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Uhh... Technically, Snake In The Sandbox (Gustav's third and least brought up WIP) features two animals! One's a snake which literally scares G's shirt off when he finds it in his tent, and the other's some sort of desert lizard the 18th Corps adopts as its mascot.
7. How do your characters get around? (Ex. Trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
Oh, probably their respective combat vehicles more than anything, though long distance stuff gets done by plane / aeroship, and getting between Worlds means ships for everyone. Non military types might get their own car, or plane.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
Technically brought this up already, but the answer's worldbuilding. It's always worldbuilding. Though within that category, I'm technically supposed to be writing up a piece on the UC' policy towards Goilac / Nouvoulouis pre SSAW, but... I have been having a lazy weekend.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe) of your WIP do you think will draw people in?
Big flashy boom booms and cunning military tactics, strategy, and leadership on the one hand for sure, but I'd like to think the depth, history, and life that exists within the 12 Worlds might have some appeal to readers.
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
Published novel, or really a few considering how many there are already for the 12 Worlds. Then... Well, I think I've got a few ideas in me for the Setting yet.
Anyone fancy a boardgame?
And that's that! Tagging @athenswrites @hessdalen-globe @caxycreations @sanguine-arena @vyuntspakhkite-l-darling @thatndginger and anyone who'd like to take part!

Small towns like mine are often described as places where everyone knows everyone. And a lot of times that's true. You may not know everyone personally but you're familiar with every face, some more than others. There are a few faces you see every time you go to main street, and they sort of become part of the town because they're always there.
But one of those people from my town passed away last night, and it's a bit of a shock because he's always been around. I didn't know him on a personal level, but I've known who he was my whole life.
He wasn't dealt a good hand in life, he had it pretty hard in so many ways. And he made his share of mistakes that hurt others and himself. I won't pretend that he was perfect, nobody is.
But when I think of him, I remember how he gave me some hockey cards that I really wanted when I was a boy. He didn't have any reason or obligation to, only to make someone else happy. He had his faults but I think he was a good person at heart.
And I think a lot of people in town feel the same way. His car is parked by the town hall like it always is, and through the day people have been leaving flowers on it. I think it's really touching, since he didn't have any family the town is remembering him in a meaningful way.
I guess I just wanted to talk about our community spirit because that small gesture really warmed my heart. While there were people who used him and laughed at him, there were just as many who cared about him. He'll be missed and he won't be forgotten.

Map of my years-old Minecraft world - my first worldbuilding project
Tumblr media
You might recognize a few of these names from worldbuilding posts I've made about Hessdalen. This little Minecraft world I made in 2016 that I've refused to let go of ever since has made a couple of impressions on my writing lol (You might notice I've reused a couple names.)
I decided to make a map of it in my new style, and I think it turned out okay, though a bit crowded.
There's so much lore here for each of the countries, too much to post about here. I might make individual posts about them in the future. It's kind of evolved into something like Earth MC, or at least that's how I treat it.
I thought this was kind of neat, and I just wanted to share it.

I haven't done any writing on Cozar in months, and I could really use some writing prompts to get back into the grove of things. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

There’s been a lot of talk about solar eclipses lately, so I was wondering if anyone has solar eclipses in their settings, and if so what is their significance?
There’s a lot of potential with this idea, so I definitely plan to come up with something for my world 😁

Green Horizon was a Malonarian pesticide and herbicide company. It developed a product it called GreenWay+, an extremely effective plant hormone that spiked the country’s agricultural output.
Unknown to everyone though, GreenWay+ had a side effect that slipped through safety testing. Exposure to the chemical, even through ingesting food that had been grown with it, destroyed a male’s ability to produce Y-chromosome sperm. This made conceiving male children near impossible, and Maldonado plunged into a demographic crisis.
Needless to say, Green Horizon ceased to exist as a company after the 140s.
Worldbuilding Wednesday

Tell us about a specific maker, location, or brand in your Setting with an almost inseparable association with whichever type of good it is they produce! From a historic wine country to a sector-defining corporation, how did this association get started? Do they face any competition? What does the rest of society think of them?

Worldbuilding in 5 - Solonis
Thanks for tagging me @thetruearchmagos
Rules: Post five images of a place in your world and tell us a bit about it.
Here is Solonis
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The town of Solonis is the heart of the Solonis Valley, a large and fertile valley that stretches across central Bysynth. Like all of the valley, the town is bounded by giant mountains to the north and south, and nearly every bit of land in between has been turned into crop fields. It is the bread basket of the continent of Lenvai.
Like many Bysynthians, the people of Solonis live country livestyles, complete with cowboy hats and boots. They're proud of their work, and they don't appreciate other folks getting into their business.
Main Street is where you'll find everything you need in town. Stores, restaurants, the hotel, and of course the town hall. The town hall was converted to a command station during the Eskathish Civil War, as the Solonis Valley remained an imperial stronghold until the end of the war when it was ceded to the newly independent Bysynth.
The current king of Daskosa, Nathan Kovest, grew up on a farm near the town of Solonis. He lived there with his adoptive family until the age of 16.

Worldbuilding in 5 - Clos Ein
Thanks for tagging me @theprissythumbelina
Rules: Post five images of a place in your world and tell us a bit about it.
Here is the desert city of Clos Ein
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Built on top of a series of oases, the city was born as an important stopping point for travellers on their way to or from the Arch of Turrice. From a simple outpost, it grew into a visually pleasing city with marble streets and pearly white buildings. Depending on what side of the city you were on that is.
Clos Ein was ridden with inequality. As an Aspenian city, the caste system banished much of the population to areas such as those seen in the top right, while the higher classes lived in the inner circles that more resembled the top left and bottom right. But since the Cazkanian takeover in 161, the caste system has been abolished.
The outer permitter of Clos Ein is bounded by a wall with only two main points of entry, the gates. Beyond them is an inhospitable desert and the empty roads that lead to more promising lands.

Guess who got a job at is now a contributing author to a published book!
Tumblr media
(I hope somebody gets that reference)
But yeah! Some of you might remember me making a post about this a few months ago. The good news is the book my class worked on last semester has finally been published, and I picked up my copy today!
I only wrote a couple of paragraphs in the book like everyone else did, so my part is pretty small. But I still wanted to share this moment with all of you.
I wish I could talk more about the book, but I really can't without giving away personal information since its content is too region-specific. But I will say it turned out well!
Not only is my writing published with an official ISBN number, but one of my maps is too!
Hopefully this is the first of more to come 😊
