In a heap on the ground
The dirt cradling every decaying memory of
Springtime flowers and once vibrant leaves
You used to shuffle through
Searching for something salvageable
They're collected on paper mounts
On my bedroom wall
As if to prove they existed
Instead of being left on
The forest floor
As food for the insects and mushrooms
Feeding on the gray matter
I left behind
Pouring out of the exit wound
