I WILL NOT POST ART ON HERE (11/26/23) || NEW ACCOUNT FOR ART:https://girl-of-stupidology.tumblr.com/ || Will still be on here for silly fics and reblogs, just won't be posting MY art ✨ (Find my works through #oh look it’s my art)
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all doing. If you all didn’t know (well, it’s because I forgot-) I’ll not be active on this account anymore for my art. I have a separate to post my art so please take a look! I wanted to start fresh anyways
-> @girl-of-stupidology <-
For this account however…For my silly lil reblogs✌️ Don’t worry yall, there will still be niche MLP content and dead Shape of Water dudes on that blog.
My Stygian has some deer characteristics due to classical unicorns having deer bodies, so just know that whenever I talk about this sad little man I'm holding him like this:
(The fawn in the pic is fine btw it just walked into a walmart and had to be carried out.)
Kissclipart and kissPNG - more vectors and clipart (often transparent!)
Getdrawings - simplistic images and drawing tutorials
Gumroad - photoshop brushes (and more)
Canva - needs login but has lots of templates
Library of Congress - historical posters and photos
NASA - you guessed it
Creative Commons - all kinds of stuff, homie
Even Adobe has some free images
There are so many ways to make moodboards, bookcovers, and icons without infringing copyright! As artists, authors, and other creatives, we need to be especially careful not to use someone else’s work and pass it off as our own.
Please add on if you know any more sites for free images <3
No art today BUT been writin up a lot of silly lil Hoffstetler headcanons that I decided to make an A03 fic to share it to peeps that still care abt this movi—
The saga continues,,,also I’ve been halting on typing it up bc I plan to add bullet points plus blocks of book quotes for “evidence” but IM LIKE REALLY NOT SO GOOD AT FORMATTING bc I never wrote on A03 before so Im a lost cause
Yes! Even though I love how the book added more information and background on the characters from Elaine to Hoffstetler, I was a bit iffy on the way it reinterpreted some scenes. I finished the book recently this year and gave it 3/5 stars despite me taking pictures of each page and line I like Lol. In the movie, how they directed the Elisa and Giles argument scene was such a impactful scene and how the book carried it felt “dull” in comparison. Book Elisa basically said “We are not human” compared to the more defiant line in the movie “If we do nothing, neither are we”, describing there is never a neutral party in regards to facing injustice.
Eh but book/movie scene analysis are not my forte so take my words with a grain of salt🤪. I can say however, I’m so not a fan of how the book handled Strickland’s death but that’s probably bc Im a #1 Strickland hater😡 and the ending doesn’t live up to the movie’s poetic delivery, I just like the ambiguity of the ending of did they live happily (and alive) ever after or not?
Also while I love the characterizations, I just couldn’t click right with Zelda’s. Maybe because Octavia Spencer added so much nuance to her character that made her fun in the movie. Also ain’t no way I read she still thinks Brewster is a good loving man at the end I-
Lol Im totally not crazy. Legit thought I was the only one on this earth that read the book recently
I'm rewatching The Shape of Water because I finally got the chance to read the book (most of it, don't want it to end) over my vacation, and there were so many interesting additions that the book made, from Lainie's character arc, to Strickland's PTSD, to Giles' struggles, to the Creature's inner monologue, to how Elisa thinks and feels, etc. but the one thing the book shockingly didn't capture was the beauty of this scene (which I still maintain is some of the greatest disability representation in all stories):
it’s not perfect yet by any means but im really happy with how this study is going so far. I think it’s going to probably be my best one yet. I’ve learned a lot by doing these, like beyond just getting better at imitating the arcane style.
It’s really helped me understand how light interacts with the planes of the face, especially because Viktor has more obvious angles and….plateaus i guess. It’s also helping me learn to simplify rendering— how to break down the shadow and light masses into shapes and stuff like that. Idk, im just happy to learn that I’m gaining more from this than just getting to draw a beautiful scientist.
So here is Part 2 of my first post about the Viktor AI Voice lines I created, which can be found here. These snippets are more "ns//fw". They aren't arranged in any particular order, but I would appreciate any feedback.
Done! ✨ I’ve used a different approach than I usually do, no sketch only blurry shapes at first and working gradually smaller and smaller. I didn’t render too much, just kept it as it was when I was satisfied enough with its readability. And honestly I kinda like that foggy result. The sleeve folds aren’t really what I’ve aimed for, they are a bit to thick. Anyway, I’ll post the Timelapse, it might interest someone
