idk maybe this is just me but i feel like hp tiktok places so much value into canon and the story aspects that are explicitly told to us in the books and that puts such a limit on what we can enjoy. rowling’s work is problematic in nature!! its the parts of the story that fans develop themselves that makes it such an amazing thing for so many people. who gives a shit if certain ships or headcanons or fanon storylines “don’t make sense in canon”? harry potter is one of the only literary fandoms that heavily depends on the fans to develop the story. let people love the parts of the fandom that other fans created. fuck canon 

yknow what the problem w the writing of hp is. it’s that we’re shown things and then told something else. we’re shown that the dursleys are abusive and then told that they’re just not very pleasant to live with and that it’s fine, we’re shown that snape is a terrible person with awful morals and then told he’s a hero, we’re shown that house elves are mistreated and enslaved and then told that it’s okay, we’re shown that sirius is a doting, protective godfather and a good guardian and then told that he’s irresponsible and unhinged, we’re shown that blood purism in the magical world is a centuries-old, violent, pervasive ideology and then told that so long as we kill the Bad Wizard Man it’ll go away. and then we discourse about whether to adhere to what we were told or what we were shown when in reality it’s all incoherent inconsistent bs.
