It's ok to agree with a few opinions someone you disagree with overall has! It's ok to disagree with a few opinions someone you agree with overall has!
Everyone comes from such unique backgrounds and home lives and the way that they interact with the world and the world interacts with them. It is nearly impossible to agree with every opinion someone has.
For example, just because a person agreed with Trump's fight against Chinese outsourcing and such doesn't mean they agree with him overall and that's OK! It doesn't make someone a bigot or a “socialist” if they agree with a few opinions of someone you dislike. It doesn't make someone awful if they disagree with a few opinions you have. Sure, there are some things that just aren't ok, but you have to really THINK and ask the person their line of reasoning and try to understand before chucking them out the window OR give your reasoning for your opinion and just leave. People are typically immutable, unfortunately, so much of the time, there's no use in continuing to fight.

This meme is nothing but hypocrisy because I see no denial of cancel culture being ok, but that it should be somewhat defended because it has been done in the past?
Why should it suddenly be ok to do now? The answer is that it isn’t.
This shows the close-mindedness of the people who believe that such things are some form of real justice. Justice doesn’t come when the bullied become the bullies. Stop kidding yourself.
It’s hypocrisy at best. Doing the exact thing one hated others to have done themselves. There’s no true justice in such behavior, only breeding more hatred…

This is a reply I saw a transwoman make on post of a question by a transwoman. It’s a side that a lot of people who are LGBT allies don't see. Many people who have been trans for many years now are feeling rejected by either side. I've seen more and more people who are talking about this. It's sad and these people deserve a listen. I've even heard some people who are more afraid than they have been before of the uprising of people against trans people due to the unrest that "activists" have caused (this is in their own words, don't shoot the messenger).
There are actual trans people who are being called both transphobic and being called predators on each side. It's just not right.
Called transphobic for challenging the idea that trans women are women, for example. Some believe trans women/men are trans women/men as a separate entity from cis women/men in terms of experience and biology and don't see this as a disadvantage. Of course, they should still be seen as women/men in their daily lives and many shouldn’t have to identify as “trans” openly when it’s not necessary. This is something to think on as trans people still need a safe space too.
*again, don't shoot the messenger. These aren't my beliefs. I'm just stating what these people are saying and that I believe they shouldn't be invalidated by either side, assuming their reasoning is sound. I'm encouraging myself and others to think more critically as I always do on my page.
Furthermore, while I fully understand how many think this sort of thinking will cause those who oppose trans people overall to invalidate or attack trans people, I don't think it's a reason to block out the voices of trans people who maintain these thoughts and feelings. If they feel it would cause them to be more unsafe, I doubt they would express these thoughts. I know this isn't a one size fits all situation, so please don't think of this in an "all or nothing" sort of way.
I’m open to listening to trans people who have different ideas and perspectives moreso than someone who isn’t trans, even if they’re an “ally”.

If you wish for others to understand your position. You must answer the difficult questions when they’re posed to you.
Tumblr media
People are ignorant or wish to understand better. Not everyone asking difficult questions are interrogating you. Even if they are interrogating you, answering the question is still important. You also shouldn’t expect people to know the answer to something just because *you* feel the answer is obvious. You shouldn’t be upset with someone if they don’t know the answer to this *obvious* question.
If you don’t wish to be understood and you wish for others to judge you based on their biases still, then don’t answer.
Sure, people will always judge either way, but at least when you answer the questions, you will get to more people than you realize. It can be exhausting, but such discourse is absolutely necessary to having a better world and understanding yourself and others.
Imo, if you have always gotten upset or ignored people when these questions are posed to you, then it seems you don’t even know the answer yourself and you don’t like questioning your own thoughts and feelings. Tough pill to swallow.
(Of course, if it’s true harassment, no need to answer. But if no one seems to be aggressive, answer.)

Shout out to all the beautiful lesbian women and support for this week
Tumblr media
Remember that lesbians, being both women and gay, often face both misogyny and homophobia, especially for the more “butch” women. It’s important we continue to consider this well and listen to their concerns!
