A General Guide to Writing Well, Now, & Consistently
In all my years writing, I have struggled with keeping writing as a fun and healthy habit. It took me five years (and many instances of writer's block and giving up) to actually have a basic set of guidelines to keep my writing going...
And I would like to share these "rules" with you all today!
Now, a bit of a disclaimer: developing the quality of your writing skills comes with time, research, and thinking. It may sound frustrating to hear, and you may hear it often, but the only way to get better at writing is to write and read often. Many times, just by jotting a silly thought down or reading fanfiction, you can spawn ideas without realizing it.
Now, to the list of tips that (I hope) will help you on your writing endeavors!
If you are not having fun writing your story, your readers will not have fun reading it. It sounds silly, but it's true! If you're enjoying your writing, you're more likely to write more and input more ideas into it!
Even if you have people to check your works, reread them on your own anyway. This may be a little frustrating tip for some, but let me tell you: I used to HATE checking my own stuff. The worst way I learned that personally checking it is a necessity was when my aunt checked it and pointed out tens of mistakes within my grammar, storyline, and characters. Check yo work, it will save you a LOT of embarrassment in the future.
Write anything. Read everything. As ambiguous and obscure as it will sound, it makes sense with context. As I mentioned before, the only way to get better at writing is to write and read often. Write anything your mind desires, that's simple enough. But read EVERYTHING; not only books, blogs, and articles, but also games, texts with friends, billboards, pictures with text, and (sorry, students) even homework as well. You'll be surprised how much your vocabulary expands when you actually pay attention to anything that is written (for me, it was video games. Seven-year old me knew vocabulary that I was taught in seventh grade because of it). And on that note...
Research what you don't know. Please, this one is genuinely important (I'm biased because it's one of my pet peeves). This includes words you don't know the definition of, spelling, and even generic, real-life information you want to add into your stories (e.g. I actually spent four hours researching how gemstones are categorized for my sci-fi story: Eco-Adstrum). Unfortunately, sometimes researching and fact-checking your ideas before writing them down can prove to be unmotivating, especially when you're wrong. But, it's always good to stay optimistic and be creative enough to twist the actual fact to mold it to your stories. Unless you're writing non-fiction, then maybe don't do that last bit.
If you have no ideas, keep wiggling your pencil. To those that recognize that phrase, yes, it is not my own. This is a piece of writing from former Tumblr user "officialtheonite" (I was only able to find the post because it has been reblogged multiple times) and their fifth grade writing teacher. Essentially, even if you have no ideas, keep writing. Write ANYTHING, even if it doesn't make sense. You will always be able to double-check it later and you will save yourself a lot of wasted time sitting around trying to stir the soup in your brain.
Balance the usage of your names and pronouns. To this day, I still struggle with this. I tend to use an abundance of pronouns when I'm referring to a character, so much so that sometimes, it becomes unclear on if we are still talking about aforementioned character or if we're talking about a different character entirely. Use names when the focus or action of a character is on stage; use pronouns if we are still talking about said character (even if we are talking about the same character, make sure you at least reiterate their name when there's a new paragraph).
I'll be editing and reworking this list as time goes on. I hope these tips can be of use so some of you all. Feel free to ask me any questions if needed. Enjoy writing and keep at it! I believe in you all!

Despite me being a writer, I am also an artist as well. Now, because I'm an artist AND because I am an avid hater of people who steal art and refuse to credit artists where credit is due, I would like to just say that I HATE looking for references for art nowadays for a few reasons:
AI art. Perhaps this is a controversial opinion to certain people, but if you use, endorse, or even (god-forbid) praise AI art, I have no respect for you because you do not respect real and actual artists who put their time, energy, and effort into making art that is both vivid and meaningful. Honestly, this doesn't even just apply to only AI art, this applies to a lot of other AI "tools" as well (e.g., c.ai, ChatGPT, WOMBO, etc.). AI does not make original art. It steals from other people's art and uses it to make something completely lifeless. AI is a humiliation and disgrace to the art community, and the fact that people praise it more than actual, living, breathing artists that have spent hours, days, months, and years practicing and refining their talents.
I can't even count how many times I click into a picture, and it says in a bright, bold watermark "DO NOT REPOST", and since I use a certain red 'P' lettered app, I guarantee you that almost every time, the person who posts art that contains that watermark REPOSTED that art from the artist. What's worse, is that most of the time, the links don't go to the original artist AND they are never credited. Despite me using this app for half a decade now, I've grown to hate using it because the amount of disrespect its users have for artists (despite being an app that is known for, wait for it, art). I think I'm just going to have to stick to stock images now, because I refuse to let myself be a part of this stupid cycle.
People refuse to acknowledge the problems in the last two points I made. The people who do acknowledge and try to do something about it don't get enough credit for trying to say something about it. The amount of arguments I've heard that "it is a tool for people who aren't talented enough to draw", "but it's so cool that a machine can do this", or even "at least I can get it for free" is so sickening.
No, I'm not aiming to gatekeep art. I also have a vendetta against art gatekeepers as much as I do art thieves. Maybe I'm not in the right community, because I don't see a lot of people mentioning any of this enough (or maybe I just don't go online often). But it still needs to be mentioned regardless.

Gods of the Decatreiztinate
Hey folks! Today I’m here to introduce one of the pantheons within my project/campaign: Mystic Parallels. This will be a short post listing all thirteen gods and giving a brief summary on each of them. What are the Decatreiztinate? The Decatreiztinate is a pantheon of thirteen gods chosen by the Pillars of Existence themselves. This divine group carries out the orders and wishes of their four higher-ups, guiding and overseeing Elai-terra to keep everything in balance.
-♡-
Format: Name | Title | Domain
Karnus | The Magician | Illusion & Decay “The almighty leader of the Decatreiztinate is a force of his own. None of the pillars could truly command him to carry out their wishes, but despite that, he serves the four cornerstone gods with the utmost loyalty.”
Bachina | The Guardian | Cuisine & Shelter “Although her power could have made her the leader of the Decatreiztinate, she does not trust herself to lead, as she deems herself more fit to protect and sanctify those who deserve such protection.”
Cyanid | The Scientist | Poisons, Venoms, & Toxins “His strength is rivaled by the other gods, but his conniving personality and intelligence regarding the weaknesses of the rest of the Decatreiztinate make him one of the more dangerous gods of the pantheon.”
Morrigan | The Reaper | Death & Harvest “Despite being the fourth, she could easily wipe out the rest of the pantheon in the blink of an eye. She chooses not to, only because she understands that there is a time and place for everything. Destroying the rest of the gods is, to her dismay, not her job.”
Ankkus | The Assassin | Deserts, Plains, & Theives “His title is deceiving, just like his upbeat personality. It’s a wonder that he is the top five of the Decatreiztinate, as his carelessness causes more hurt than help. His status may only be because of the amount of people that dedicate themselves to him.”
Sanguis | The General | Blood, Rot, & War “Nothing ever truly dies. The idea or thought of a person that dares to linger can give the dead man power; same goes for the gods as well. He may be dead, but the gods are sealed away under heavy stones when they ‘die’ for a reason.”
Haywood | The Cultivator | Forest & Faelands “They say he tends to all life in a caring and gentle manner; this allows all flora in Elai-terra to thrive so wonderfully. However, his favoritism to specific specimen also is the reason for some plants becoming alive or invasive.”
Frei’go | The Preserver | Arctics & Mountains “A distant god of all things cold. He believes that preservation is the key to an eternal history. His knack for inscribing history and watching in silence inspires many mortal scholars to serve him and follow in his footsteps.”
Enyo | The Investigator | Underdark & Caves “She hides herself in the caves and shadows, watching, lurking, and waiting for the right moment to strike and climb back up to her former glory. If it wasn’t for the higher gods, she would have crushed all those who dared to defy her.”
Naiobe | The Mariner | Oceans, Seas, & Storms “The passion of adventure and journey was birthed from the goddess of the seas herself. But with such powerful emotion also comes abrasive and controlling undertones, thus why her anger is shown in the storms.”
Helena | The Berserker | Wildfires & Cannibals “If only she had matured, her power could have proven her worthy to be one of the top five. But naïve as she is to the words of the other gods, such a childish deity could never be trusted with high rankings and influence.”
Amabilis | The Diplomat | Love, Sex, & Family “Everyone has a reason to like or hate the idea of love itself, for even the god of love themselves despises their own power. If the ruler over love hates the idea of love, then what does that mean for every other being?”
Nymphius | The Peacekeeper | Rivers & Lakes “They may be the last of the Decatreiztinate, but do not think that this makes them any less powerful than the other gods. In fact, some could say that they are the most powerful of the gods, since unlike the rest of them, they know how to control and balance themselves.”
-♡-
Feel free to use this pantheon publicly as long as you credit me, that’s all I ask really. If you have any question, feel free to comment them or ask them on my AMA page. Thank you for reading!

Uh...uh...the wizard @imugi-ink might be able to give you a job I think? I still need to write my leaf-sized books. Write letters back please! Can't wait to hear about your new life, my friend.
Stop recruiting children as adventurers and then sending them on a quest to my tower to defeat me. It never ends well. The furthest any of them made it was my workshop. I’m tired of burying kids. Even I have a limit.
Where are you even getting these kids? Are you abducting them? Are they orphans? Did their parents agree to this? Half the time they can’t even stand up against an owlbear.
Stop using child soldiers. I use goblin kids as ammo, not soldiers. Both the kids and their parents are fine with it. They’re loyal.

Yeah sure. There's this stupid idiot ruler that got dethroned recently and he ugly and mean. If you can eat him up that would be great. He's currently in the prison within the city of Alexandria. Beat him up for me, my friend!

Sigh...that’s what I get for adopting rebellious kids. You want me to keep the mimic or should I kill it and send the parts back to you?

Look, my friend. I can’t control what my sorcerer children do. One of them may or may not have set one of your carpets aflame. I’ll see what I can do to reimburse you if you want. 😓

Chapter Length Tips/Guide
Despite me writing for five years now, I still find myself struggling to make sure my chapters are the right length and size. I never really realized how short my “chapters” usually are. And when I finally glanced over at the final draft of the chapter, the word count would only be a little more than 500 words (that’s around four minutes). So, if you also struggle with chapters that are too short, then worry not! Thanks to Reddit user KaraNCTS’s answer on a post from r/AO3, we have an answer...
“...3000-5000 base count per chapter and then you can always adjust in editing, moving a scene to the next chapter or combining two chapters if it feels like one long chapter.”
When I read this, I had to try it for myself. On Google Docs, I use the font “Pangolin” at 12px for the main text, and “Croissant One” at 20px for my chapter titles. I try to aim for the midpoint: 4000 words per chapter. If I need to add a few more words or finish at less than 4000, I can. Each chapter in Google Docs averages out to about 10 pages per chapter, which is a mighty amount!
However, there’s no need to stress about your word count. I’ve made short stories that are around only 1000 words, and they’re still wonderful to read. In other words, your quality of your writing should be put first and foremost over the quantity of your word count. If you make your scenes in sections (I do this), then combine them to make a full chapter. Take note that your chapter should have an overall themes, meaning that your scenes should try and align with your chapter theme.
Hopefully, this guide helps with making the length of your chapters consistent. Feel free to post an ask if you have questions about writing! I’ll be happy to answer and and all questions. No matter how silly you think your question might be, a question is not useless if it helps you to learn!

Cyanid the God of poisons and “medicine”. He made fun of my friend and wouldn’t do an annual checkup for her. She stole some of his stuff on her way out but I’m personally mad at him because he made fun of my height during my checkup. >:(

Do you kill gods upon request? I have a friend who needs a new doctor but this god was really rude to her. Another friend also has evidence of this god being a big bully too if you need it.
