pyper's hobby learning challenge

hello there. 🫐

If you are like me, you feel the urge to create something and have your mind constantly glowing with new ideas, however for one reason or another, you never give yourself the time and peace to sit down and actually create.

maybe it's the fear of not being good enough, maybe your life is to hectic, meybe you've lost touch with your creative side (or you just have adhd like me sigh), whatever the case might be letting loose and letting your being be transported by doing something you love is the key to feeling happiness and actually love yourself.

this being said, I've created a list of 20 questions (you don't have to do them every day, I understand that pursuing an hobby is not an every day thing!) and challenges and the intent is to either do something related to the challenge or to reply to the questions and post your creation. 🐚

I hope that by the end of this challenge we'll have learned something new but most of all understood our potential and talents all the while making time to just play around and have fun!

Thursday, the 23rd of February 2023

Before dawn we were up and ready to travel to Amsterdam. I carry way too many books with me but seeing how our journey is unfolding that might be fortunate if we don't reach our connecting train. Then I'll be able to choose between Obasan, A Passage North and Tokyo Ueno Station.

yesterday I went to a photography exhibition about Shapiro's work with Bowie and it was visually stunning.

It was also a beautiful experience to walk between such pictures with Bowie's song playing on the speaker, it made me realise how much I appreciate art and that I should pursue it more freely just for the sake of the joy, not always thinking about how good I am.🦋

Tomorrow I'll start the second semester at uni and I'm both positively curious (I'll start a creative writing course!) and a bit anxious. 🌃

went into a nearby city to frolic peacefully and bathe in the alternative scene that's unfortunately so foreign for someone like me who lives in a small town.🦋

I also went to see a photography exhibition about Shapiro and Bowie (pics will come tomorrow!) and it was fascinating.🧑‍🎤

I used to live in that city, however, I was very young and naive so never enjoyed it and was often overwhelmed by fears. Going there today was both therapeutic because I've changed so much for the better that I think I'd be able to love the city, I'm more carefree and believe in myself, however, it was also a bit sad because I thought about in what a dark place I used to be.🌼

(long time no see)

sometimes life does that thing where it goes so fast and events, deadlines and feelings all pile up, until all you want to do is just find the comfort of your bed and wholesome content

I'm in the midst of exam season, with a bit of a broken heart because of a friend and the feeling that I constantly know myself better than I did the day before.

January felt so long, however, placid too I guess. How have you been feeling? What did the stars have in store for you all?

❄️life catch up❄️

Hello there!✨

Life has been such a blur lately that being now in a peculiar moment of tranquility, I remembered to update this lil corner of the Internet.

Friendships have been rocky and through that I learned immensly about myself and how I want to move in the world, there has been much pain these past few weeks due to misunderstandings, silences and just being young but, this made me realise how important to me these people are and the lengths I'd go for them

Uni work has being steady and I think I'm on schedule?? I've found a small part time job in a cute little herbalist shop (first pic) so my time has been divided quite a bit.

This is the last week of uni before Christmas' holidays so next week I'll have more time to plan and study for January's exams session <3

what if Kerberos refers also to the security system? It's made to verify users' identities and since it's all a simulation I feel like it could be a nice guess? Also regarding the groups, notice how every duo looses the "stronger" person (Olek functioned as a source of stability for Lin Yi; Ángel to Ramiro etc.) an even Virginia who isn't in a duo has *half* of her body corrupted. Idk how to explain this tho :(

Okay I think I want to talk about 1899 for a minute. (while I am suck in an airport with nothing else to do)

I would like to talk about the ships (the boats) names for a second.

The original ship that went missing and the name of the spacecraft is the Prometheus. In Greek mythology Prometheus is known for being the god of fire after he stole fire for mankind and the god of for thought or thinking before you act. Prometheus is most well known for his eternal punishment by Zeus. Prometheus is chained to a mountain and everyday an eagle swoops down and kills him by eating his liver…since Prometheus is immortal his liver grows back and the process is repeated again for eternity.

I think the connection here is pretty obvious the story of Prometheus is mirrored by those stuck in the simulation. Those in the simulation or on the space craft are stuck in a loop having to go through the same 8 days over and over again.

The ship most of the events of the show happen on is called the Kerberos which is the same thing as Cerberus who is Hades three headed dog who guards the underworld.

This connection is admittedly a big stretch than the Prometheus. Kerberos may be a parallel to coming to the end of something seeing as he is the guard of the underworld one would only see him at the end of their lives? Not to sure about that one but I think the Prometheus one might have some merit behinds it.

These past few days have felt like a long Sunday and I've been lost amongst the folds of melancholy and just, end of the year confusion I suppose?

I've been feeling stuck and slumbering, all I really did was watch Netflix and journal, however, I'm really trying to get back on track with uni. I just want to have indeterminate free time to enjoy my hobbies with tranquility, you know?

Also, I binged 1899 and absolutely adored it, as a language and translation student it was so fascinating to watch on screen some theories I studied!

in retrospect, daniel’s entire storyline is incredibly hilarious because while all the other passengers are stuck in a loop reliving their worst memories, daniel is more or less a walking cheat code and he’s somehow having the worst time out of all of them. he hasn’t slept in 8 days and he’s wet all the time. he has a wife who doesn’t remember him and a dead son. he has to watch his wife fall in love with a handsome brooding sea captain over and over again. his only friends are a virtual version of his son who clearly prefers his mother over him and his son’s pet bug. he gets the absolute shit beat out of him by a background character. he’s done this simulation countless times before and somehow his wife is still always two steps ahead of him. the man’s really out there just barely passing an open-book exam. poor little meow meow indeed.

feeling that oppressive urge to have a group of friends who have weekly dinners at someone’s apartment, flock together on campus, debate literature and philosophy over wine soaked nights, study in the library together long after everyone’s gone, write each other letters when we’re apart for the holidays, run about the woods at night and be utterly, utterly free.
