So I finally gave my lonely boy Cael (Cael, short for Caellian (Pronounced Say-il and Sayl-eean)) a new reference, after so many years! You can read more about him here! Also the blog for his story is @caelsearth :> Quick Summary: Cael is a 23-year-old Biology and Etymology student, living in the futuristic continent of Aangea-2, a continent that combines all the world’s continents in one landmass. Due to constant land corrosion, Aangea-2 is only a quarter of the size of all Earth’s landmass as we know it today. The government decided that to restore the earth to its former glory they would initiate a risky yet highly profitable scientific project. They called it the ‘Thousand Year Project’ where all human life on earth was to engage in cryo-stasis for 1000 years, to let the earth replenish naturally. Unfortunately, due to unknown circumstances, Cael’s hibernation pod stopped functioning around 900-ish years through the cryosleep process, and thus he is awake and happens to be the only conscious person on Earth now. Read the doc to find out more ;D

So long, space boy :) I really just wanted to draw Cael in something pastel since it just suits his personality, and also space, cause he’s a boy in space I guess, all by himself :’) Cael’s ref is outdated and I will be redoing it, but in the meantime you can read his info here uwu

This comic project is on short hiatus while I figure out some things over at @the-encryption (which you should totally check out btw) >v> I’ll be doing some random drawings and lore of Cael in the coming weeks but I haven't figured out how I'm formatting his story yet!!! Thanks to everyone who’s here! - Aret <3

I like making monsters so I thought id do some fan arc sketches! I pictured a pikmin - ish stealthy adventure with lots of weird predators when I saw your drawings.
“Darkened Mistwood”
Essentially something drives a bunch of predators here to become more active and cooperative at night. While hiding and running, Cael crosses the path of a symbiotic frog and scorpion-like Hoplunge and Pokerstung. The motherly Pokerstung protects Cael as he tries to find what is driving predators to act so oddly in the odd, dark, poison adapted biome. However, the other predators begin to focus on him as he does.
Creatures pictured
-  Jubjub Splatterflap - Persistent, bioluminescent offshoot of a bat, disorients prey by flashing lights, changing color, flapping its wings and shrieking. Very smart, but omnivorous and easily distracted by fruit.
- Lizaken -  Clever leopard-like lizard that generates electric power and distributes it via the spines on its back. Males are small and blue while females are large and green.
- Catsquid - A dim-witted aberration with feline and cephalopod traits. Mist keeps them hydrated while they scavenge other animals kills. Poisonous, but cowardly, they often try to climb trees using tendrils. Easily tamed and loyal.
Hoplunge and Wapole -  An amphibious hunter that lacks arms and has a larger mouth than a comparative frog. Lives symbiotically with to take care of its charges. The Hoplunge provides easier fast movement and carries food back to the nest. Wapoles are juveniles with a stinging bite.
- Pokerstung and Link Scorpion - a deeply black scorpion evolution that easily moves across vines in trees and digs out nests with its new tail. Symbiotically pairs with Hoplunges (often bigger males), offering its appendages and protective shells. Females can be matronly and gentle to other more obviously defenseless or juvenile creatures. Link Scorpions are young Pokerstungs that line up and advance stingers first as a defensive measure.
- Gloomwing - tiny sleep inducing moth with large dusty wings and antennae. Create safer areas in the Mistwood (aside from one specific kind of predator) by merely flapping around in groups for a little bit, tiring creatures until they're pacified.
Let me know what you think :) ----------------------------------------------- Aret’s Notes to the submitter: Eb! These are absolutely outstanding little creatures!! The descriptions of each creature are exactly the sort of things that Cael would write about his finds! I would certainly love to implement one of these creatures into the New Earth with your permission :) Thankyou so much for these! It really did make my day to see such a lovely thought out submission! I especially love the scorpion, oh my, but all of these creatures are 100% Cael-Core! <3 <3 <3

“You wouldn’t believe me if I said the mushrooms here glow.”
--- ----- ------ ---- ----- I was just testing out some glowing effects, and I wanted to show some aesthetics of the new earth too. There's a forest with glowing mushrooms that most of the bug lifeforms swarm around. It's also one of the safer biomes to live in, considering it's not really a place for predators.

Wait, a comic? I thought Cael's story was gonna be written ^^;
Yes! :D So my plan is to draw out most of the main plot points but I will also be writing up small one-shots, just in relation to what he does from day to day. Most of it will be drawn though, until I hit the point where I reach the end of the canon story :)

Thankyou!! :D
I’d like to thank everyone who has joined me on this blog so far! I’m excited to start posting constantly here, and the first comic strip is very soon to come. I’d like to explore some more of the New Earth creatures before I start with the prologue, however. Of course, asks are always open but I don’t expect much until I upload the first few pages >v>

The Centipedes of the new Earth, otherwise known as Canterpedes, are larger than normal centipedes and twice as fast. Their diet consists of berries and mushrooms. Cael enjoys finding these new bugs and writing about them when he has the spare time.

I did an art trade with @aretmaw of her character Cael! He is a sad, valid, and lonely child living in an unknown world all alone. He has his own blog as well: @caelsearth! It’s some very quality content.
Thanks for trading with me, it was a lot of fun!

The Lantern Bug-
A supposed evolved form of the typical lightning bugs (fireflies), lantern bugs span to about 9 inches in length- to around the size of an average housecat. They tend to be passive creatures; vegetarians which feed off of exclusively fruit and other such plants which give off sweet nectars.
As their size may suggest, lantern bugs are particularly lazy animals, and over the courses of their years and years of evolution, have lost the help of their shells to hide their wings, as well as to defend themselves. They are large enough, however, to not have many natural predators- which was possibly the reason why their shells were lost in the first place.
During the colder seasons, lantern bugs will burrow underground, clustering together in large nests to maintain warmth. If one identifies some sort of blinking light- natural, or from other sources- it won’t hesitate to flash back at it; a supposed trait from their lesser, smaller, devolved species Speedpaint

Sometimes it gets a bit lonely knowing you’re the only person awake on Earth. Cael has always been quiet, but even now it's hard to come to terms with the fact that being quiet is his only option. Speedpaint
