Research is the most important thing to do before heading into Faery work and witchcraft. You want to have a lot of in depth and versatile knowledge covering many areas of the topic so you’ll be able to understand and interact with the Fair Folk! If you don’t want to work with the Fair Folk you can use this list to help yourself understand them and take the proper measure if you ever stumble upon them. I know the list could go on forever but I’m compiling the topics I find build a good foundation of understanding. I have compiled this list to give those interested guidance and a push in the right direction, it is best you do your own research before asking other’s personal knowledge and opinions!!

Unique Grimoire Topics
While planning for this I looked through possibly every single post listing prompts for your grimoire on this site, and listen 98% of those lists are exactly the same. No shade on the ppl who make these lists, since I found that stuff really useful for brainstorming my own ideas, but here’s a list of ideas that I haven’t anywhere on tumblr. They’re unique, specific, and in no particular order, but they might help other witches. So:
Gardening Calendar - when to sow and when to reap, winter plants vs summer plants, etc.
Nice sounding words and names for when I want spells to sound good.
Cryptids/Myths - (fear gortach, baba yaga, the jersey devil, and kelpies are some of my faves)
Skill Building techniques - recipes for candle/incense making, book binding, sewing/patterns, tea making, etc. I tend to approach things as a jack of all trades/master of none, and it’d be nice to have one place with a lot of tips for things I’ve learned and can apply to my craft.
basics of chemistry and practical uses (i.e. removing rust, different colors of fire and how to use them in spells, etc)
Art pages for drawing new witchy tattoo ideas
A chart of which plants mix badly with medications I take (!!!!!)
an entire info page on practicing safely honestly
Witchcraft is about using all your senses to affect change in the world. A research page on senses other than the 5 that everyone knows?
Current politics. Yeah, really. There’s this curse Trump movement going on, or it was going on a while ago. You don’t have to use curses I feel to affect some change, at least in your local government. Of course, witchcraft should only be a supplement to actually voting/calling senators.
How to attract pollinators - butterflies, bumble bees, etc.
also how to get rid of invasive species
History of the Satanic Panic and how that affected witchcraft

Potato Soup for the Healing Heart
Tumblr media
One of the things I love most about soup is its ability to heal the heart, body, and soul. A few simple ingredients, no matter how little you may have, can come together to create a whole and satisfying meal. You can dress these creations up or down, add or switch ingredients to suit your own needs. And who doesn’t love tucking into a nice bowl of soup, stew, or chowder?
Ingredients
4-5 slices bacon, diced (optional)
4 tablespoons butter
1/3 onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, diced
¼ cup flour
2 cups beef or vegetable broth
1 ½ cups milk or oatmilk/almond milk
2 cups potatoes, diced (mixed small potatoes or golden)
1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Allspice (careful! This can easily overpower a dish)
2-3 large Bay leaves
Cayenne
Marjoram
Rosemary
Thyme
Salt and Pepper
Instructions
OPTIONAL. In large pot, cook bacon (if desired) until crispy. Dice and set aside. Leave bacon grease in pot.
Melt butter and saute onions until translucent. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
Add flour and cook another minute or so, stirring frequently so it doesn’t burn.
Add broth and simmer another few more minutes. Add milk, potatoes, and half of diced bacon. Add spices. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cook until potatoes are soft.*
Stir in cheese, if desired. Adjust salt/pepper to taste.
Serve warm and with toppings. You can dress it up with bacon, cheese, sour cream, peppers, chives, green onions, etc. It’s up to you!
*Note: Remove some of the potatoes, mash them, and then return to the pot. Cook another few minutes for a heartier, thicker soup.

⁣Tonight I took a transformative ritual bath. It was the most grounding experience I’ve had in months.⁣
• Spiritual Cleansing Bath •⁣
First, I gave my bathtub and bathroom a thorough clean. I gathered my ingredients, lit white candles and my salt tealight holders, and turned off the lights.⁣
I started running the bath and placed amethyst, rose quartz, and clear quartz in the water. While the tub filled, I burned white sage to smoke cleanse the bathroom and myself. Once the bathtub was full, I added the ingredients.⁣
• Lavender, mugwort, and white sage tea.⁣
• Pink Himalayan salt.⁣
• Epsom salt.⁣
• Activated charcoal.⁣
• Violet flowers and leaves.⁣
• Purple rose petals.⁣
• Lavender and sweet orange essential oil.⁣
I lit my favorite incense and got in. I made sure to submerge my head and body fully under the water 3 times, taking a few deep, cleansing breaths between each time. Then I applied a face mask made of honey, turmeric, rose hip oil, and lavender, ylang ylang, and rose essential oils.⁣
While the mask was on my face, I practiced ocean breathing for 10 minutes. Then I let my breath return to normal and took some time to be still before rinsing the mask off. I spent the remaining time soaking in the sweet water and plant medicine, meditating with my labradorite and desert rose crystal, and sipping jasmine chamomile tea.⁣
I stayed in the bath until the water drained completely, letting everything wash away down the drain with it. I gently patted myself dry, then sat on a towel on the floor and rubbed rose and cedar oil into every inch of my skin to ground and nourish myself. ⁣
I blew out my candles, put my crystals back, and wiped my tub down. I slipped on the most comfortable pajamas I own and practiced some gentle, restorative yoga to end the night. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this relaxed and grounded before. All my sore, stiff places are soothed, my breathing is steady and calm, and my spirit feels light and clean.⁣
•⁣
I can’t recommend Ritual Baths by Mama Medicine enough. This book has seriously upped my ritual bath game. Now, off to pass out for what I guarantee will be the best night of sleep I’ve had in years.

what to put in tiny altars
rings
tiny flowers
folded messages
maybe tea candles (depending on how tiny your altar is)
herbs
small crystals
pebbles you find
remember your altar doesn’t have to be a box, it can also be a small drawstring bag, it  just has to be a place dedicated to your craft. :)

Canadian sculptor Debra Bernier of Shaping Spirit ~ https://www.etsy.com/shop/shapingspirit
“Debra Bernier sees each piece of driftwood as a work of art already, created through the hands of Mother Nature. The earth, the ocean, even the moon and its effects on the tides, play a part in the unique shaping of driftwood.
Debra considers herself a co-creator and story teller, revealing the hidden past and spirit of the wood. Her art speaks of the unity of humans and nature.
Living on Vancouver Island means Debra has an endless supply of driftwood to work with: her favorite medium. Like the bones of past trees, each piece of driftwood holds a story and the spirit of nature. Each piece of wood is first sculpted by the tree and earth, then by the ocean, then by Debra’s hands.
She hopes that ‘Shaping Spirit Sculptures’ will inspire others to wonder about the big stories, hidden in the little things.”

the ultimate self love ritual
Tumblr media
this is a powerful ritual that focuses on everything that goes into self-love and self-acceptance; overcoming guilt, ridding yourself of harmful habits and thoughts, seeing your own beauty, having confidence and courage, and harnessing your inner magick. best done on a full or waxing moon.
❀  three candles: one white, one pink, one red
❀  yarrow (rekindling love, confidence, psychic opening)
❀  cloves (courage and self confidence)
❀  lavender (inner peace, tranquility, self love)
❀  a pen
❀  a bowl made of glass, wood or clay
❀  a mirror on a stand, or one that can lean on furniture
before you begin your ritual, take some time for self-care that makes you feel good about yourself, your face and your body. put on some music you like, gently brush your hair, do your makeup (or gently wash your face and moisturize it, if you don’t wear makeup), wear comfortable clean clothes you feel cute and/or cozy in. if you want, anoint yourself with a fragrance or essential oil that makes you feel desirable, intoxicating, or alluring.
rest comfortably on the floor (with a pillow underneath you). ensure the mirror is in front of you and that you can see yourself in it. arrange the three candles so that the white and red candles are to either side of the mirror, and the pink candle is right in front, between you and your reflection.
light the white candle, whispering, “may you cleanse my mind and heart of self-negativity and sorrow.” light the red candle, whispering, “may your flame spark newfound self-passion.” light the pink candle, whispering, “may you inspire tender self-admiration and respect.”
look at yourself in the mirror. take a moment to really inspect your face and pinpoint the things you like about it; its smoothness, its hues, its shapes. after a moment of this, cup your hands together and hold them above the flames of the candles in the order you lit them, letting your hands grow warm. gently run your warmed hands over your forehead, cheeks, nose, chin, and slowly gliding them down your neck.
re-warm your hands with each candle, and gently press them on the places on your body you tend to dislike. show yourself care and love with hands warmed by magick.
place the bowl in front of you, close to the pink candle. take the yarrow in your hands, whispering “may you grant me the power to love myself,” and place it in the bowl. take the cloves, whispering “may you bring me confidence and courage to overcome my harmful thoughts”, setting them in the bowl.
finally, take the bay leaf and pen and write out a wish that addresses something specific regarding self-love that you want to manifest; for example, “body acceptance”, “seeing inner beauty on the outside”, “emotional healing”, or some such thing. place it in the bowl.
let a little wax from each candle drip onto the herbs in your bowl, and leave the mirror and bowl where they are for three days and three nights. each morning and evening during this time, look into the mirror for a moment and think a kind thought about yourself. on the third night, dispose of the herbs and put the mirror away.

The Chalice Well, Glastonbury, England
Also known as ‘The Well of Avalon’.
Archaeological evidence suggests that the well has been in almost constant use for at least two thousand years. Water issues from the spring at a rate of 25,000 gallons per day and has never failed, even during drought. The water is believed to possess healing qualities.
The Well is often portrayed as a symbol of the female aspect of deity, with the male symbolised by Glastonbury Tor. As such, it is a popular destination for pilgrims in search of the divine feminine, including Pagans. The Well is however popular with all faiths and in 2001 became a World Peace Garden.
