I’ve started reading 2099’s 90s run and I like it a lot writing wise and comic miguel and lyla are great and funny. I just can’t with how inconsistant the art is. And I feel bad being so critical of it since no doubt they were working for pennies with short deadlines but still -_- it bothers meeee

A Wonderful Life Thoughts
I've played through two seasons now and I have some opinions on the visuals.
I prefer the brighter colours. While I always like how it looked in screenshots, I always found the the desaturated colours of the original made everything kind blend together in motion. Also I noticed that the colours change over the course of the season rather than you going to sleep on the last day of spring and bam everything is all different and I really love that.
The water is super pretty.
I'm playing the steam version at the highest resolution and I'm getting occational slow down. I think the cause is the game loading in shadows but it isn't so much of a problem that I'm bothered to try and fix it.
The texturing is pretty, I'm pretty sure eveything is hand painted.
I'm still not 100% on board with the chibi proportions that they've been going for with the remakes so far though I think all the character design (in terms of like costuming) are good. I just with they gave Gordy something more arty rather than sports wear.
I know some people prefer the old designs for the bachelors but I'm so glad they got redesigned. I was always put off by how old all the bachelors looked apart from rock especially in comparison to how cute all the girls were. And I didn't want to marry rock lmao
And like the new bachelor designs aren't like super pretty or anything either. Like none of them are Raegar level pretty. Gustafo is largely the same they just shaved the beard. Matthew and Gordy still look a little gonk because the chibi art style means that their heads look huge compared to their bodies. Like going into the remake, I wasn't taken immediately by any of the bachelors. I went in fully expecting to default to Muffy if none of them did anything for me even with the redesigns.
I've decided on Matthew btw. Gordy is a very close second. If I ever replay it I'm defo going fro Gordy.
But yeah I'm really enjoying it. The vibes are there and the soundtrack is really good too.

MIguel has potent tsundere potential which i think is why i find him so compelling other than him being pretty because like I will 100% concede that I don't find him more interesting character arc wise than Gwen or Miles or Peter B or more entertaining and refreshing than PAv or Hobie.
