thinking about the fact that allen's eagerness to put so much blind trust in the order was probably one of the reasons kanda hated him so much. seeing someone willingly come to a place you've spent so much of your current life (if not both of your lifetimes) wanting to escape- that had to have been so hard to watch. i mean he said he hated the order even more than the noah and they're literally enemies

Person: If you could sum up D. Gray-Man in two words, what would they be?

Me: Identity crisis.

The recent D.Gray-man chapters have me in pieces. Allen Walker is one of my favorite characters of all time and with the absolutely staggering amount of character development and pain he’s had to go through in the manga recently has hit me right in the feels. Thus, I’m drawing to express my feels. 

The quote Allen says “This is the place where “Allen” began.” was just too much for me. This piece is inspired by that quote. I drew Allen in the stages of his life and character development all leading down to “the place where “Allen” began, dog Allen.

Also, this image is HUGE, so I included a couple close-ups on the figures so you can actually see them in all their detailed glory.

The ghost of Mater

I just realised given the time period dgm is set in, Allen and Mana probably used lead to have that vibrating, warm white colour to paint their faces and Mana's top hat was processed with mercury (hence the Victorian era saying 'mad as a hatter'), highly toxic poisonous metal compounds that lead to headaches, irritability, memory problems, trouble with seeing hearing and talking, behavioural problems, in severe cases anemia, seizures, coma or even death.

PSA: Kanda is not emotionless, trauma changes the way you respond to different situations & Kanda choosing to guard himself emotionally doesn’t make him a bad character.
