let us talk about a consistent and concerning issue regarding readers on the platform.

i will preface that this obviously does not apply to every single person in the community for both readers and audiences. it is purely just a post i have decided to make upon speaking to three of my friends. this is an issue that has been on the platform for what seems to be years and it will not stop anytime soon for as long as the culture remains like this. if this feels like a personal attack then ... i have no clue what to tell you ...

of course it is inevitable that most readers will end up leaving anyway in order to pursue something different. running a blog for the rest of one's life is hardly ever thought about. however a lot of people do end up leaving because they are unhappy - not because they decide it is time to move on. and that is the issue i am discussing today.

not enough people are talking about how many blogs - especially top blogs - end up taking an extended hiatus at least once. or abandon their blogs entirely leaving them as shells of what they once were. or deactivate entirely often without a word as hardly anyone will notice.

it is often underestimated how much pressure running such a hobby is in reality. it can be extremely draining and the more people that follow you the higher the demand.

those who claim readers do things for followers highly underestimate the practice [for the most part. some readers obviously do things for the attention]. more followers is arguably worse as more eyes are on you waiting for more content or to watch you fall.

readers have personal lives. and tarot is - as mentioned - just a hobby. readers hardly or never monetize their work. and those who monetize do not earn a substantial income to live without working another much higher paying job. for the most part the content is entirely free. it is a choice to produce this content. until it feels like an obligation.

emotions of the readers are dismissed. very few people end up caring for them as people - many only care for the brand and content. they are criticized if they put out too much content. criticized if they put out too little content. criticized if they take too long to make content. criticized if they say something someone disagrees with because they expected a different result. boundaries are constantly broken. rules are hardly ever read. when requesting manners and etiquette are a thing of the past.

recently one of my friends left the platform. they had 1300+ followers. they told me they would announce what became their last hiatus and a reason why. and out of those 1300+ people perhaps only two or three people wished them well.

of course this negativity is not from everyone. from my experience a lot of people are lovely. however being close friends with three popular readers and with some of my own personal experiences - a lot of people can also be downright awful.

and for what reason ?

what do those people gain out of tormenting someone for having a hobby ? for making content they willingly started producing in their free time because they wanted to share it with likeminded people ?

is it really that fun to willingly choose to go anonymous knowing it can not be traced back to them ?

is it really that fun to make someone hate a passion they once loved ?

is it really that fun to make someone unhappy ?

REGARDING THE “SCAM”

I’m not a confrontational person, and putting people of blast terrifies me lol. However a month after making this account someone (@/yzodkx) messaged me on the 10th of March asking me for an exchange. They don’t own a tarot account, they don’t even post on their blog, this was just someone who I assume was reaching out to tarot readers and asking for an exchange reading. This was my first exchange.

I gave them their reading first, it was quite short but helpful nonetheless, they gave me mine and all was well! I even started following this person back (although I only followed tarot readers) since I felt appreciative of receiving the reading.

After giving them the reading, they asked for a clarifying question which led to me giving them an entirely new reading as this wasn’t a yes or no, this was an in depth how someone’s intentions, which I couldn’t only gather the answer by pulling one simple card.

Two days later they asked me for another exchange which I was quick to agree to, I asked about my career and they asked about their future spouse, I received my reading first, thanked them and then gave them an a very in-depth reading about everything I could pick up for their future spouse (appearance, career, personality etc) after this, they did not thank me or say anything further about the reading. I asked if they would mind giving me a reading on my future spouse whenever they are free as they had already received three readings from me, and they had given me two in return.

(I blocked out the initials for privacy reasons!)

They agreed, then proceeded to ask if their future spouse was (insert initials) I gave them an answer, then they asked another question and I answered it.

I did not ask them 3 questions in return as I didn’t want to bother them since I already asked for the future spouse reading and didn’t want them to have too many questions to answer from me.

I have been ghosted by them for the past near month now, they didn’t reply to my answer when I gave it, but have been active, since as around two weeks after airing me, they changed their profile picture.

I do not care to argue with anyone, this is not me being petty, I have literally left it an entire month until now being told to talk about it by my friends lmao. The only reason I am putting this up is so other tarot readers who may get messages for an exchange from this person, will know what to be careful of. (I really wanted that future spouse reading too smh)

I don’t know if I’m just being dramatic lol, perhaps my crazy amount of words on their reading scared them, I have no idea. But I do not appreciate being made a fool, especially since I literally followed them and trusted them #rip

honestly I regret not really going for it and learning a genuine skill that I could then use later on but sometimes its just matter of having opportunities or being in the right situations to actually gain those skills, for example you could go to a really shitty school and learn something amazing or you can go to a better school but have shitty classmates or teachers that are of no real use to you or courses that arent available and so on and so forth, whilst idols have to go through a lot I do think what they get to do is super cool cause when they pass on they have a legacy to be proud of. Sadly I think it just comes down to them being in the right areas or theyre from the right families who can invest so much into idols gaining their skills and talents. I have yet to really see someone from my country denut in kpop group sooooo it kind of says a lot of where kpop is heading and that they were going to smerica come what may. its just sometimes our situations are very limiting and we cant always win at everything in life either or say you might want to do something but realistically you know its slim to none chances and i think at some point it has an age limit of when you can succeed at it. So even if i wanted to do what i originslly wanted it would take many more years just to get to a good skill and even then you might not be the best at it

I also think sometimes social media makes things neither great nor bad cause people can upload their skills and really empahsis on what they want nowadahs whereas when I was a kid we were doing fuck all with our free time yaknow? kids nowadays shouldnt waste their younger years is what im saying. sometimes i think that i dont fit in with my generation cause of how screen obsessed we all have become and then i dont fit in with newer generations cause they have so many more ways of making success for themselves, im just like what can i offer? honestly not much.

thats also why i lowkey wouldnt mind passing on early just to get out of this screen world that we are in and yet older generations were never bothered with taking selfies then they wouldnt habe been able to get social validation via online, so they were probs happier and things were at least affordable back then. i kinda envy the older generations in that respect, we only got to experience a small handful of years without the pressures of social media and ever since idfk 00s or earlier it kinda went to shit really.

everyone was expected to be online and idk how i really feel about it anymore im sort of over it and modern society generally sucks. so many idols get backlash for no good reason, youtubers who dont do anything wrong get gossiped about and snark pages are endless so even if someone wants to do something amazing with their lives they cant avoid scrutiny of any sorts. its just got way out of hand and its past the point of saying well just dont use it then cause we technically need these devices constantly so ergo its not hard to not be delulu about celebs and the likes either cause its literally everywhere.

Sorry for the late response, been caught up in some important stuff recently (it's not bad stuff LMAO)!! Anyways, thank you so much! I try my best to remain open-minded of any/all perspectives before forming an opinion of my own and even so, I'm very open to hearing others opinions on these matters. Debating issues is something I genuinely enjoy, as long as it is a polite and healthy debate ofc. It is quite interesting, I'd say it has something to do with the "loneliness epidemic" (as I like to call it) of these times. We're in a time where technology is increasing rapidly and human interaction isn't as common, we're more attached to our screens than actual people and that becomes an issue when it places you out of touch with reality! The obsessions over being an FS and whatnot is genuinely awful, like fans hating on idols and their relationships have led to some couples even splitting; look at Lee Jae Wook and Karina from Aespa as our most recent example. It's never too late to try, really. You can learn any skill no matter your age as long as you can put enough effort in, remain disciplined and dedicate time to it! I think your point there is quite valid, but since technology has advanced so rapidly, you can realistically learn most skills online now by a few quick google searches, taking notes, learning and applying them practically. I think it is quite cool how idols have a legacy that'll be remembered for a while. It's something I'd want to achieve before passing on, as even though making an impact, being remembered, etc isn't a neccessity it does in a way lessen the anxiety about passing on? It makes you feel like there is a chance that people will still mention you, bring you up, that what you did could be studied or researched by other people, that your story could motivate others into getting their shit together, etc. A lot of idols aren't in the right areas or families, though. I'll use BTS as an example here; some members had extremely poor families and were from a run-down agency that could never compete with the big 3. Look at where they are now? They single-handedly built up their label, going from Bighit to HYBE. Practice makes perfect, the more you practice, the more work you put in, the better you will get at that skill! Obviously, blind optimism isn't helpful but if you take the realistic steps in place to where you want to be in the next few years now; it will happen and you will succeed. I completely agree that we, as a society, have all become too screen obsessed and I'm also guilty of this, but it is an issue. It's caused a lot of parents to just let the screen teach their kids, too. I'm sure you have a lot to offer to the world, even if you might not think so. You can do it, though! I believe in you and I'm proud of what you have done so far :] !! I had a discussion with a friend about a similar topic to this, but a lot of trends now are fueled by "nostalgia" where things looked happier and less daunting to live in. I think after 2015 is when things started to spiral, but that's my personal take. You're more than free to disagree with anything I've said!! I don't think you should force yourself to be online, stick to the trends, etc. Do what makes you happy and you'll see yourself shine brilliantly! And yeah, a lot of delusional ideals are fueled by big companies nowadays, too, since fans will obviously put more money into those celebs if they feel like they might get "noticed" - which could also be why concert tickets are getting higher and higher even for newly debuted groups. Hello! So, I don't remember when I said "going for rich people is a good plan" or whatever but I mean there's points to both sides. To accumulate that wealth you need to be willing to put the hard work in, even if you marry into it. If you're a child of a wealthy family, you need to put in the work to maintain that wealth and legacy. It's a chain of hard work - I personally think you can do anything whether you're old, young, etc. It's just a matter of your mindset and how much work you're willing to put in! These days, it's mainly more about the connections you have and the hard work you put in. Social media can make you famous/popular, but it cannot single-handedly generate millions unless your life goal is to be an influencer doing TikTok dances 5 times a day for a living. I think learning certain skills (e.g. budgeting) are important and can help you establish that wealth earlier on, but you can always teach yourself. I have no prior experience owning a business, but the skills I learned throughout daily tasks over the course of my life have helped me to reach a point where an idea is starting to blossom into an actual product. And I agree, being single gives you more time to work on yourself to allow people to enter your life without the situation feeling forced. You get to become more comfortable with yourself, you make life-long connections/friendships, you develop hobbies, stories to tell your future friends, etc. It's a time to establish yourself and experience personal growth when you're single, not stress over finding a new relationship!! I think each relationship, friendship, etc brings a life lesson alongside it - so it doesn't matter whether that person is the person you intend to marry or not. Just enjoy the present without panicking about the future, that's the best advice I can think to tell everyone as well as my past self <33 It is quite sad, a lot of idols seem lonely. Jackson Wang is a prime example of this, he's expressed this loneliness a lot. Idols have the right to be happy without their "fans" criticising them for wanting a future where they have a family or just aren't dancing on stage anymore. That is quite narrow-minded, I think it'd be better if netizens and delusional international fans took a break from Kpop content for a month and got some hobbies, worked on themselves and enjoyed life for a bit. To an extent, I do pity some idols FS that I read for. They seem very closed off/introverted and would not do well if the relationship were to get leaked to the media, especially if their information is also leaked and they are a non-idol. I just hope they will be alright and fans will be more accepting sooner or later ! Idols ideal types may not always be the kind of people they'll marry - but they do definitely know what they like in a person. Fans do need to accept that the most likely case is that it is not them!
