Edda can be considered something of a heretic, in the sense the he... doesn’t particularly respect the Archons, nor Celestia either. Rather, they believe in the existence of something beyond Teyvat itself, a being (or beings?) that she believes came to them in a dream, among other members of her former clergy, with the gift of enlightenment. It’s also rather unclear whether xey were kicked out for xeir more ‘extreme’ methods or if they just left on their own volition to further his studies.

With their enthusiasm for their belief and craft, she can be incredibly overwhelming with sharing it with others. In fact, her zealous nature does even bleed in the way he casts, as it doesn’t match known styles from nations known or ancient. Edda also has a habit of scaring people, unintentionally or not is up for debate within the Company, and it’s not like he’s going to confirm anyways.

Xey’re unpredictable, and hard to get a read on, as well having a good heaping amount of disrespect for any Archons, Celestia, and gods not of xeir own, so it can be rather difficult to get along with their volatile personality. Unless if you’re just as unhinged as they are or as eccentric as the rest of the Company. Yet despite this, and her love for ‘enlightening’ anyone that asks about his beliefs, they keep a rather tight lock on their past and background.

Much like the rest of the Company, it looks like xey too, have some mysteries of xeir own.

Character(s): various liyue and mondstadt characters mentioned, this is written from the POV of a unnamed Qingce villager that accidentally became a pseudo-oc oops

Warnings: can be read as a villain au variant, but intended to be regular SAGAU

Summary: There is a new farmer in Qingce Village. Yet, the village welcomes them all the same.

A/N: trying to get my ass out of a creative rut sucks ASS :( helppp

Anyways have something cute based on @i-put-the-yan-in-polyandry’s farmer au <3

A person was found in the bamboo forest outside the village today, their clothes were strange and alien, their expression full of wonder yet apprehensive. So you help them, you and the kids and the elderly of the village. They look so similar to the moss covered and water damaged statuettes at the many waterfall shrines around the village. You don’t think about it, more concerned about their scrapes and injuries, until Granny Ruoxin takes them away to rest and you are sent off.

So you leave them to their rest and healing, it would be weeks until you would learn that they had taken residence up in the abandoned farmhouse, once used as a rest stop for travelers and pilgriming acolytes. Somehow you found this quite fitting, though you’re not sure why. Still you nearly stumble over yourself to help them, what with working the land, renovating the ramshackle barn and house, giving them someone to talk to when their eyes cloud and homesickness takes over.

(Months or even years later, when you find that your dear friend was the All Creator themself, you wonder if they knew too, and if they ever cared for you,)

(Part of you already knows the answer.)

Still, you offered your hand, a nervous stuttered offer of help with their newly acquired property, a timid smile on your lips. Then they laugh softly, a smile shot back to you, and you’re struck with the feeling that, if their smile was the sun, you wouldn’t mind going blind. You’re still flustered, stuttering out a, “I found you in that forest first, therefore you’re my responsibility!”

And they laugh again in response, more genuine this time, amused at your antics, and you’re glad to see the encroaching sadness in their eyes fade even just a little. They take your hand in theirs and pull you along to the fields, oddly friendly slimes following you two. “Of course, but only if you’ll be my first farmhand!” Their offer was playful, but genuine, and you were happy to accept.

The sun was shining and the winds sang the return of the All Creator.

It was almost scary, how quickly they were able to acclimate. The farm and the fields and the world itself preened under their attention. Their crops grew twice as bountiful than usual, fruits the sweetest (or more sour depending on their preference that day) than any other, and animals willingly flocked to their barn. Even monsters would follow them and try to help them in their own way. The first time you found out about the ‘extra hands’ though, it almost ended in a brawl. A farmhand facing up against a hillichurl armed with only farming hoe.

It was cleared up and the whole situation was explained, much to your embarrassment. Your friend still teases you about it to this day, and you’re pretty sure that hillichurl is also teasing you, though you’re not sure since you don’t understand it.

You would eventually bring up selling the fruits of their (“our” they would correct, you still think it’s mostly them, but you appreciate the sentiment nonetheless) labor, not out of greed, but from concern over the fact that mora was still needed to repair the barn and the house. Elbow grease and hard work can only do so much when neither of you... really know how to do house repairs. You two could ask one of the many retired workers for help? But it felt bad to ask without some form of repayment for their services. Though you both did eventually gain the reputation for bartering and trading away crops within the village for goods or services anyways.

Regardless, various tradesmen would show up, curious of the sudden influx of crop exports from Qingce village, and the staggering quality of them, rivaling even luxury brands. It was almost dizzying watching the amount of new people coming in and out of your sleepy town. The second son of the Feiyun Commerce Guild and his friends, Mondstadt’s owner of Dawn Winery (and some knights?!??), even a few Inazuman traders came by. Still, it was nice to see how lively the village has become these days.

Your friend seemed a bit taken aback and embarrassed by all the commotion over their produce, their red face in their hands as they tried to say that “they’re just doing what the other farmers are doing!” when asked about how they were so successful with their crops.

You only laugh and throw your arm over their shoulders, telling that “The world clearly loves you! Don’t be so modest, you deserve it after all!”

(You got pinched by them in retaliation for this comment, you don’t regret it,)

(It was true after all,)

And so, life goes on.

One day, you find your friend being pestered by a bard, from Mondstadt(?), he sounded Mondstadt enough. The basket was full of apples that day, candy red and shiny like jewels. The bard, whom you would later learn was named Venti, was trying to barter your friend for a slice of that apple pie they made earlier, set to cool on the windowsill.

(When you suggested to do that, they looked almost amused, you didn’t know why,)

(But it was nice to see them happy,)

Still, Venti was trying to offer a song, a dance, a full performance, even help around the farm, just for a slice, and that, “did you know my favorite fruit are apples?” Though it was all in good jest, if the mischievous sparkle in his eye and the exasperated yet amused expression of your friend meant anything. So you didn’t step in, trusting that your friend would be able to handle the strange bard.

Besides, you were pretty sure both you, and they, could probably punt the twiggy bard into the river if needed.

Either way, the bard showed up more and more, the playful banter an almost expected routine now. A song for an apple, a story for a slice of pie, some of his time for some of their time, just to spend a break from farming together.

It was nice.

Another day, the consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor visited, Zhongli you think his name was? You were sure he came by here once. Still, he likely came over on the rumor of tea or something. He looked like a man that enjoyed a good cup of tea to you. Respectable. It was pleasant talking to him, and your friend seemed to be excited to show off the more... eccentric fruits of their labors, and the man seems interested! Unlike the more sleazy traders that came by, wanting business deals and contracts.

Yeah, right. Not on your goddamned watch. Your friend could take care of themselves in general sure, but by the archons, sleazy businessmen talk always flew over their head.

(You still loved them despite this,)

It was nice seeing them connect with another person more or less outside of the village, for as much as they loved the children and the people that have grown into an almost found family, you’ve caught them staring off into the horizon often, you still weren’t sure whether it was wanderlust or homesickness. It wasn’t your place to ask.

The funeral consultant’s visits became routine as well, help with business and contracts for a break with tea and snacks, help on the farm for a story, or well, a story for a story, whenever the man went off on a tangent. It almost reminded you of your own parents’ rambling stories.

Sometimes the bard and the consultant would show up on the same day, those were always chaotic days, even with your friend playing peacekeeper. It got worst when Mondstadt’s Calvary Captain joined it one day, among other colorful figures.

And so life went on, none the wiser of your friend’s true status.

All is well in Qingce village.

I love the concept of ningguang turning into a gem slowly, but i also have another one.

What if she has mida's touch?

Anything she touches turns to gold. At first it only happened to small, insignificant things. Maybe a part of the leaf she held turned to gold. The small rocks turned into precious diamonds. It didn't really bother her until her powers start to branch out to different things. Her clothes would turn into pure gold, making it impossible to move in. The food she eats turns to gold as well. She cannot eat nor drink, for anything that touches her lips will turn to gold aswell. Eventually, she starts to starve. Funny thing is, she doesn't look any different. Its been weeks since she last ate something, but she's still alive and is looking healthy. She is forced to starve and watch as anything she touches turn into that god forsaken mineral thats slowly turning her life to a luxurious hell. Well, I wonder how long it will be until she's forced to eat gold to satiate her hunger. Desperation works wonders.

Oughghghhhh Midas touch as a concept is always SO good yes

Reminds me of this manhwa I was following for a good while where a character had a “Midas artifact/relic” and it was split into two parts

Wealth (great luck for anything and everything) vs poverty (You WILL Go Bankrupt Immediately Die)

But as per the beastly scourage au, body horror comes first :)

Upon first glance, Hanju comes off as unapproachable due to his resting expression, though they’re much friendlier than they seem. They much prefer to go along with things or at least have minor control of a situation, of course he voices his own opinion but in the end usually follows through with whatever the Misfit Mercs Company does (if it’s within reason or if it’s absurd enough that they have no other choice BUT to follow along). This plays into Hanju being the other voice of reason/damage control.

Before therapy meeting the Misfit Mercs Company, they were severely health anxious (still is, but it’s more controlled and easier to handle) as well as generally a mess of anxiety and depression, especially due to believing to be cursed since birth. To ‘make up’ for lost time developing skills due to clinical depression and overall anxiety, Hanju often has a a sense of needing to prove himself, or at least be the first to take initiative in most situations.

There still seems to be a lot eating away at his mind, however, slowly sending him into a spiral.

ningguang stares at the ground, stained with gold in a mockery of blood. her chest is split open. she doesn’t care. how long has it been, since she felt something? she searches through muddled memories and finds nothing. ningguang bandages her chest and cleans the floor and pretends that it never happened. but she holds on to that too-sharp agony, the pain she felt as her body fell apart. late at night, ningguang breaks her finger and watches as gold seeps and stains the sheets. -🪶

oh oh oh that is brilliant! tbh i’m glad that razor is alright, i have a soft spot for him, albedo and xiao. love the idea of ningguang turning into a human gem- she notices, how can she not. but there’s nothing that she can do to stop it. the transformation creeps up her hands, to her chest and then down her body. she’s numb, both literally and metaphorically, stone cold like the facade she wears. it’s not so bad, she thinks. then she cracks for the first time. Ok inazuma beast au brainrot.

Gorou's transformation would morf him more like a humanoid being with a dog's head. His transformation would be painful since his head would feel like its constantly splitting and breaking since his own skull and head organs are all moving around to mould into one of a dogs. His arms would grow in length and size, with sharp claws that can easily rip apart skin, including his own. His head is too heavy, so you constantly see his head tilted towards one side. His feet turn to one of a dog's, except with sharper claws. Though compared to the rest of his body, their too thin, they can barely hold up his whole body, so he's reduce to walking on all fours.

Ayaka would be become too cold, both for others and herself. Her blood is slowly becoming akin to ice water, her tears would turn into ice shards the second it leaves her eyes. Her skin would become ghostly pale and her eyes would turn milky white. She basically turned into a human block of ice, though in the saddest way possible. Despite having the constant need to stay in an extremely cold area, she can still feel it. She has to put up with the mind numbing cold since if she doesn't, she'll probably melt away. Kinda sucks that despite needing the cold, you can still feel how it burns your skin.

Sara has always wanted to do her best for the shogun correct? Well, human eyes are too incompetent, with only two eyes how can you see what other things are happening around you? Why not add four, no seven, wait no even 12 more? The more the merrier and how easy will be to see what's around her. All she has to do is ignore the bloody tears that comes out of her oh so many eyes. Why only have one pair of wings when you can have five, no, 8 more! How easy it would be to fly, and how fast in the sky you would soar! Just ignore how your wings seam to bend and break in weird directions, and how pain seems to flare up even with the slightest movement. She wanted to become stronger for inazuma right? Well her normal body won't do. After all, there is a saying that more is always better, so I wonder what limb would sprout out of her back next.

Lmao idk where i got these from since I just woke up but maybe ill continue this or make these batch better. Im not rlly a writer since i only draw but i can vaguely visualize how i want them to look.

Okay so

I’m gonna go with some thoughts I have regarding which characters I have ideas for design wise + some misc meta™️ information lmao

Though the only “meta” I have is that this entire au came from a dream I had where mhy did a genshin crossover event like the horizon zero dawn event with Aloy but instead of that they did a crossover with bloodborne, hence all my gotdamn references BJDBDKXBX

So anyways, regarding how the change “spreads” I like to think that Mondstadt got it first, and in Mondstadt it spreads quickly but is the least (relatively) painful compared to the other two (known) nations due to the fact they were the one to essentially “shoot first”

(More under the cut because this will get long)

(Also a general warning because there’s gonna be lots of body horror described, and favorite characters suffering a whole lot)

Liyue has the “slowest” spread but it’s the most painful, mirroring Zhongli, the Qixing, and the adepti’s persistence

Lastly, Inazuma has the fastest spread so to speak, the pain varies but they usually have the most “monstrous” transformations compared to the other two

Going into character specifics, I’ll start with the archons before moving onto a select few

Venti, you know about biblically correct angels? You know what seraph’s jobs basically are? Yeah then you probably know where I’m going with this. Venti essentially becomes Mondstadt’s first biblically correct seraph, made to continuously sing “praises” to god, however unlike seraphs, Venti is not immune to the fire that comes with it

My original venti concept had him literally fusing with dvalin, ala bloodborne Ludwig fusing with his horse™️ but it didn’t really fit too much so it got scrapped

Zhongli I’m still not quite sure on, but maybe something like a mix between dark souls’s gaping dragon and a hydra? Something something, dragon’s greed + regular sagau’s zhongli’s desires to keep us/darling teapotted forever = something about gluttony and greed with all the heads and the giant body mouth

Ei is an interesting case because there’s She™️ and the Raiden shogun, so let’s start with Ei first-

Due to the fact that she’s in her plane all the time + generally refuses to intervene, she becomes a literal phantom/ghost, losing the ability to touch or really interact with people. Toss in the tantalus myth punishment and now Ei cannot eat or drink despite still feeling a need to eat and drink.

On the flip side, the Raiden shogun starts off only by becoming more literally doll/puppet-like, ball jointed, a nutcracker-esque mouth, strings that lead to nowhere, etc etc. however as the imposter hunt decree continues, it becomes... more mangled so to speak, extra limbs coming out from places they shouldn’t be, a new head starts to grow in, etc etc, and in between all the joints and new limbs, you can see stings of red flesh between the cracks

Something like a mix between Tomie from junji ito, and the mannequin spider/monster from silent hill. Eventually I like to think something either like crystal marrow or electro crystals begin forming on the shogun’s back, eventually leading to it becoming immobile and crushed under its own weight, but still alive

Now enough of the archons, time for everyone else! (More or less the select few I have brainworms for)

I like to think most of Mondstadt would have more like, gargoyle or harpy-like transformations, with for example: Jean falling into the gargoyle category and Diluc falling into the harpy category + obligatory howls moving castle inspirations tossed in (aka howl’s monster form)

Everyone, regardless, probably loses access to their visions, but in the sense that they literally FUSE with their element

Diluc’s ribcage starts to split, tearing skin and flesh until his heart and organs are exposed, now burning hot as his heart becomes the literal source of his flames. If he’s closed off emotionally, at least now he can be open physically

Eula head begins to burn from her growing horns in the way only extreme cold can burn, her fingers, legs, extremities begin to grow numb and cold, as a unstoppable frostbite begins to take them. Icy claws replacing her once dainty hands, both too strong and too fragile. She is no longer able to use her claymores

Razor didn’t do anything wrong but due to pure favoritism and “I think he deserves it” he gets to have actual wolf ears and a tail after a night (all painless of course because he’s the goodest boy)

Liyue is mostly safe (from me) because I’m brain empty on ideas for them, but they aren’t safe from YALLS ideas- /hj /lh

But I like to think Ningguang specifically becomes a literal gem™️, due to her desire for mora and prosperity for liyue. But I don’t really have much outside of that, outside of houseki no kuni type gem physics, or something like these two pieces of fanart by a really neat artist

(Insert obligatory hnk anime promo here because GOD the anime adaptation is SO GOOD for a 3d animated anime....)

Inazuma also unfortunately falls under the “head empty vibes only” category as well, but they’d probably all most likely turn into a form of yokai or another. Though the only true yokai-esque idea I have is Ayaka turning into a yuki-onna lmao

Kokomi starts to grow scales and gills, not too alarming considering her origins and such, but soon enough her skin becomes drier, peeling off in sheets and she struggles to breathe. Her new gills only half work, she cannot breathe in air or water, rejected by both land sea. Her fear only begins to grow as she feels her legs fuse into a tail by the days

Something something, werewolf thoma? Cerberus (painful) gorou?? Actual howls moving castle monster howl Kujou Sara???

I don’t really know how to end all this rambling but uhhhhh

Almost everyones fucked, darling’s living their best life, the kids and the ones who helped or didn’t hurt darling physically or mentally are safe

I like to think at some point some of the more... zealous? Delusional? Straight up really fuckin weird? worshippers would start to believe that these “mutations” are instead of a curse, a blessing instead. A trial of pain and blood, to prove themselves worthy, and that this was “gods will” to create a stronger, better nation.

Thus leading to a schism (and an eventual religious split) between the archons-led worshippers who believe this as a punishment from their god, and the extra-delusional faction who believe this to be a blessing
