Having the "wrong" diet & exercise program isn't what keeps most people from losing weight and getting results... ⠀ It’s having the wrong (and often unrealistic) expectations. ⠀ Truth is, results happen a LOT slower than most people think (or want 😅). ⠀ For example, a solid rate of weight loss I set for clients is around .5-1% of total bodyweight per week. ⠀ For someone who weighs 200 pounds, that’s just 1-2 pounds per week. ⠀ That works out to be 4-8 pounds per month. ⠀ How would you feel if you only lost four pounds in a single month? ⠀ Would you be discouraged? Would you feel defeated? ⠀ (Probably so if your expectations were unrealistic from the start.) ⠀ ~ ⠀ Change takes time. ⠀ Whether you have 10 or 100+ pounds to lose — it’s probably going to take more time than you're anticipating the get the results you want. ⠀ But here’s the good news... ⠀ YOU HAVE TIME! ⠀ There’s no race. There’s no finish line. There’s no set due date. ⠀ It’s just you vs. you. ⠀ ~ ⠀ Here’s what I’m trying to say

(Simple NOT easy. That’s an important distinction.) Ok- here’s what you do. Look down at your very own built in measuring device: your hand. Bigger person= bigger hand= bigger portion Smaller person=smaller hand= smaller portion size. With me so far? Good. Typically the way this set up works is that per meal women have 1 hand portion for each category and men have 2. Now - I realize that not all men need 2x as much food as all women. Just like any other system these are starting points & you will adjust based on results. ✅ A protein portion is palm sized. I’ve listed a bunch of protein sources in the graphic but there are loads of other options. ✅ A vegetable portion is a fist size. I actually don’t stick to the typical serving for veg, but recommend 1 to 2 fist size servings per meal. It’s hard to overeat vegetables, they fill you up for relatively few calories and most people just don’t get enough anyway. ✅ Carbs: Pretend you’re thirsty in the desert. You want me to pour water in your hand. What you just did with your hand is a cupped hand. Don’t fill the carbs up to the tips of your fingers though. Also note: fruit fits in this category (veggies are carbs as well but we already covered them separately.) ✅Fats: I swear on my Lucky Charms I get how unbelievably small that portion is. Remember though that fats have over double the calories per gram as carbs and protein do. There are many ways to lose weight. However, being able to maintain it is the difficult part. Here are three simple things to FOCUS on when you’re trying to reduce your body fat & also three things to AVOID. WHAT WORKS ✔ : 1ïžâƒŁ CALORIES ARE KING! Consuming slightly less calories than your body requires results in your stored energy (fat) being used as a source to power the body = losing body fat. 2ïžâƒŁ BEING ACTIVE EVERYDAY đŸ’ƒđŸ» is great for your heart, body & mind. You don’t need to go to the gym. You can do plenty of exercises at home. You can run/walk on the spot, so star jumps, do sit ups/push ups. Check out this motto: THE MORE YOU MOVE, THE MORE YOU LOSE! Simple, just keep moving. 3ïžâƒŁ ENJOY A BALANCED ⚖ LIFESTYLE. Make it enjoyable. You can follow the 80/20 or 90/10 rule. 80-90% of the time your food is whole, real foods & unprocessed foods & 10-20% is what You call fun foods. (little - no nutrition). WHAT DOESN’T WORK ✖: 1ïžâƒŁ UNREALISTIC WORKOUTS. Spending hours at the gym isn’t going to work longterm. It’s just not sustainable. Remember: You can’t out train a bad diet. 2ïžâƒŁ QUICK FIX DETOX đŸ€ŠđŸ»â€â™€ïżœïżœ OMG, Seriously!!! these are still sold everywhere. Detox, juice diets or even just crash food diets. Their scams. Again, it’s a LIFESTYLE. Learn the basics of adopting healthy eating habits. Unless you are going to juice detox for the rest of your life, then the results will only be temporary & will end up back to square one. 3ïžâƒŁ BEING RESTRICTIVE đŸ„ș WITH YOUR LIFESTYLE because you’re worried its going to ruin your progress is only going to make you miserable. Remember it’s a lifestyle. Having extra calories one day isn’t going ruin your progress . It’s what you do consistently ✔ that counts. Remember: PATIENCE & CONSISTENCY is key to your success.
