I can see where Tarantino got some of the spark for his “Revenge Of The Giant Face” chapter in Inglorious Basterds. The prom scene is radiant in all measures. A good standard Stephen King adaptation.

Jeen-Yhus is a weird title but not distracting enough in its display of how fascinating its subject is. Kanye (actually my bad, “Ye”) is a man unburdened by doubt or low self esteem. The man who is able to think and do what he sets his mind to is the closet you can get to a modern day superhero. College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, 808’s and Heartbreak, MBTDF, and Yeezys is a creative musical run that will never be duplicated in our lifetime. The thing about becoming famous and influential is that now there is no place on Earth where privacy can be achieved. Celebrity has become something to be worshipped and the people who occupy that space are the new gods.
Tumblr media
Ye is a beneficiary and victim of his own success. Some can say that his overconfidence, limitless ego, and controversial nature has accelerated the creation of this “new Kanye” that most people feel distant from compared to earlier times. The loss of his mother was the event that shattered him in every conceivable way. The documentary shows the unconditional and unbreakable bond between Ye and Donda. It helps to see the context behind the infamous times of the current era of Ye being in the spotlight. Truth of the matter is that the man has mental health issues that aren’t being addressed by the people closest to him and it doesn’t help the fact that he won’t take his medication. I really hope that Ye finds peace and is able to get back being the gifted musical genius we have seen mold the shape of contemporary music we currently enjoy.
Act 1: 10 out of 10
Act 2: 9 out of 10
Act 3: 7 out of 10.

Is it just me or does the era of 90s films stand out as the prime example of cinematic greatness. A decade where the indie film shot off like a comet and shady political thrillers were king. The genesis of QT, PTA, Fincher; the continued dominance of Scorsese, Spielberg, James Cameron, and Spike Lee. Nostalgia is probably the engine that stirs the love but the results back me up as well.

Depression, envy, and insecurities derails the dream of a struggling actress in the City Of Angeles.
The use of fantasies function as a escape from reality, the picturesque visions of wish fulfillment. The film is essentially a travel through the subconscious where weirdness and confusion are a match made in heaven.
Betty is a great actress when it comes to being other people in her daydreams; unable to reproduce the same results often being a person delegated to fringe status depending on the charity of others to make a living.
Golden piece of 2000s cinema 🏆

This scene is magnificent. Even with the information that all the music is prerecorded, nothing can be take away by the performer holding the viewer within the palm of her hand with her soaring voice.

Netflix films are often the easy target for memes, jokes, and scorn from the general public outside of the coveted awards showcases. This is one case of quality that should be celebrated.
More black stories like this please 👍🏾

Tone deaf, black trauma porn, and adds nothing to the commentary on police brutality and racism.
Two middle fingers is my rating 🖕🏾🖕🏾
Most likely this wins the Oscar for Best Short Film and I’m already getting sick at the thought.
STOP MAKING STORIES THAT USE BLACK TRAUMA AS AWARDS BAIT!!!!

“Okay, let’s do this one last time, yeah? For real this time. This is it. My name is Miles Morales. I was bitten by a radioactive spider. And for like two days, I’ve been the one and only Spider-Man. I think you know the rest. I finished my essay. I saved a bunch of people. Got hit by a throne. Did this with my dad. Met my roommate finally. Slapped a sticker where my Dad’s never going to find out. And when i feel alone, like no understands what I’m going through, I remember my friends who get it. I never thought I’d be able to do any of this stuff. But i can. Anyone can wear the mask. You can wear the mask. If you didn’t know that before, I hope you do now. Cuz I’m Spider-Man. And I’m not the only one. Not by a long shot.”

See this on the biggest screen possible (IMAX, Dolby Vision). 🎬
The bar isn’t high but this can be considered a highlight in the video game film genre. 🎮
Disgusting fatalities and ever flowing amounts of blood 🩸.
Cheering for this to take off so we can get more sequels.
Bravo to the filmmakers and actors, this was a blast 💥

When Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all three charges surrounding his murder of George Floyd, the conversation found on Tumblr (and elsewhere online) reflected two major points:
This is not justice being served. There is no justice in the face of murder, and if there were, it certainly would not be found within the American carceral system. The verdict stemming from this trial will not stop the violence and oppression Black people face at the hands of an over-policed country.
“Black people don’t need reminders that Chauvin’s guilty verdict doesn’t mean the fight is over. It’s okay to celebrate small victories.”
These truths are not at odds with each other. They can, and will, co-exist.
Take a moment today to celebrate George Floyd and his beautiful family. Keep his little daughter in your mind and hearts. If you want to feel a bit of relief that at least one person was found guilty for their hateful, heinous crime—please do so. And then remember that it was just one person. Remember that if you are an ally and an accomplice, you must not stop learning. You must not stop fighting for real justice.
Accountability for police killings is rare:
Since 2005, 140 law enforcement officers have been arrested for on-duty manslaughter and murder. Only 8—5%—have been convicted.
And that doesn’t account for the 98% of police killings where there were no arrests for murder or manslaughter.
Black people are three times more likely to be killed by police
And then yesterday, roughly one hour after Nancy Pelosi thanked George Floyd for “sacrificing” his “life for justice,” police in Columbus, Ohio shot and killed 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant.
That is not what justice looks like.
Rest in power, George Floyd.
Rest in power, Ma’Khia Bryant.
